My party of three went for lunch today. One of us had a small pepperoni pizza, someone else had a chicken tip sandwich, and I had a steak and cheese sandwich. The pizza was great. The sandwiches were very disappointing. My steak and cheese was like no other steak and cheese I have ever had. I was expecting shaved beef or something (like the beef in a philly cheese steak maybe) but wiuld have been fine with steak stripsnor something. Instead, I got a ground beef and cheese sandwich on a sub roll. Like..straight up fried crumbled hamburger meat. If it was seasoned, I wasn't great. I ate about a quarter before I couldnt stand another mouthful of crumbly dry hamburger. It was absolutely not worth $13.50. The chicken tip sandwich got "blah" reviews too. She said the huge warm pita was absolutely delicious, but the filling was best described as a salad with creamy Ceasars dressing and small bits of diced or chopped chicken breast. She wasn't expecting the cold salad to be the main attraction. She says it wasn't worth the price tag either. In the end, all three of us shared the small pizza. We spent over $60 and shared one small pepperoni pizza, and two 12 ounce cans of soda, and one small bottle of water. The sandwiches were tossed. Staff was nice though. read more

I've been a happy and loyal fan of Joe's Pizza since we moved to Medford 15 years ago. I won't be back after yesterday. I phoned in a simple pickup order: large pizza and a Greek salad. I know the woman heard me right because she repeated it back to me perfectly. Went and picked up my food, made the 10-minute drive home, and discovered they'd given me a garden salad. I've got hungry parents ready to dig into the pizza and a disappointed wife who was looking forward to a JP Greek salad all day. So I called them and explained the situation, and asked if they could send a delivery driver with a Greek salad so I wouldn't have to spend another 20-25 minutes to return there and back. My god, you would have thought I'd asked them to move heaven and earth. First she explained that the only difference between the regular and Greek salad was the feta cheese and the dressing, implying it's no big deal. I explained yes, that's what we like about the Greek salad and why we ordered it instead of the regular salad - otherwise what's the point? Then she said she had rung it in as a garden salad and that's what we paid for, and the Greek salad is more expensive. Okay? And since I had phoned in a pickup order, I'd need to come back there to get the Greek salad. And pay the difference in price. And delay my dinner by another 30 minutes. Rather than continue arguing the point, I cut bait. Not worth the time, cost, or bother. I know it's a relatively minor detail. And sure, I paid for the cheaper garden salad. Not the point. They screwed up, and it should be on them to fix it at no further cost or inconvenience to the customer. If Joe thinks this is acceptable customer service, I'm happy to take my business elsewhere. If he doesn't, he needs to train his employees better to handle situations like this more appropriately. I am not a "customer is always right" type of person by any means. But they were clearly wrong here. Their minor mistake turned into a major disappointment in how poorly they handled it, and I'm done. read more

I have been a fan of Joe Pizza since last summer. I have not had the chance to visit as much as I would have liked to. However, that changed recently and I had the time to write up my visit. Joe Pizza is a small store front with a tight kitchen.....but, wow, that does not get in the way of creating some delicious pizza! I have not had anything but pizza but I have heard that their subs and dishes are just as good! The pizza has a "different" taste....just something about it that I love. The pic shows a perfectly cooked cheese pizza and the sauce is the "difference" Price was average....Service was great (called ahead...ready when I arrived)...Parking is fine...located on a very busy street, but there is parking available. Delivery is available but I have never ordered with delivery. Family run and well worth the visit! Give Joe Pizza a chance, you will be glad that you did! read more

Food is ok. Basic pizza and sub shop. Prices keep going up. Owners are greedy and extremely condescending. Snarky attitude by the girls at the counter. They have little respect for the community they're in (WEST MEDFORD NOT WINCHESTER) and I caution all my West Medford OGs for continuing to spend their hard earned money here. Go where our community is respected. Joe's lost it a long time ago. Pretty much after Joe left. Did I mention that prices keep going up??? Also, they charged me $3.60 for a slice that was $3.50. Worst pizza I've had in quite sometime. Ordered half cheese, half pepperoni and literally looked and tasted like it was a cheese pizza that sat in the display case, that had pepperoni added and recooked. The pepperoni pieces were literally falling right off the pizza, cheese was dried and not cheesy AT ALL. Dough was oily and chewy. And the pizza was $19, I want my money back. There is no way on earth that was a freshly made and cooked pizza! What a way to be lazy and cut corners, give a customer a pizza that has been sitting out and just reheat with pepperoni added. Thin crust? Yep, very thin crust pizzas here at Joe Pizza. I loaded up the Pizza Primavera $16.95 large with the full maximum of 6 vegetable toppings and was pleased to find a full garden of large chunks and fat julienned pieces of fresh veggies a top the pie, rather than the regular pizzeria speckling of small diced bits scattered about. Sure, it made for a floppy slice and rather soft rather than crispy crust beneath due to the excess moisture of the toppings, but still! It looked impressive, healthy, and yummy. And it was. Onion rings $3.25 weren't the best I ever had, but they were still pretty good and crispy. Improvements would be thicker rings of sweeter onions. Their salads come with homemade syrian bread which was quite tempting to the eye. The Garden Salad $6.55 (Romaine lettuce mixed with assorted greens, roma tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, red peppers, red onions and pepperoncini) was perhaps entree portion sized, with solid slices of fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. read more

Something definitely did change down at Joe's. Christmas time I've got two pizzas. They were very good after Christmas ordered another one and it was no taste no taste on the sauce the meat, the onions or the Dell. We did it again a few days ago same thing. I also got an Italian with everything no pickles it was just bland. I don't know what changed but I'm not going back. read more

Best pizza joint around...and I've tried them all. Their sauce and dough is comparable to New York quality. They also have great calzones and steak subs. IMO the negative reviews are nonsense either from unfair critics, price complaints (just read the menu...), or people who don't like good flavorful food. Total let down!! I used to LOVE this pizza place, but like SO many other complaints the quality has gone downhill and their prices are way too high. From the rude people answering the phones. Two stars because the food is ok. Just ok. It's edible when you're hungry but man the prices are insane. I ordered a steak tip wrap here. It was small, not that good and came with a small bag of chips. It cost me $19 and change. Seriously, I know prices have gone up but this was insane. This place is a hidden gem! We ordered dinner from here and had it delivered to the Medford Boat Club. Let me just say this food was YUMMY! We had the carbonara, a burger with everything, the steak and cheese sandwich, a pizza and a Greek salad and all of them were cooked perfectly. Pizza had a bit too much sweetness but otherwise good. Portions were amazing and all of this easily fed 7. The delivery girl was so sweet and all in I have to say they get a 5! We will def order from here again!!! read more

This is my spot. The pizzas are flavorful and the bread is actually bread. I'm from a place where pizza comes with a lot of toppings and there's a robust crust that can handle all of that weight. Service is friendly, delivery is fast. People recommend other pizza places in town and I've tried them all -- nothing beats Joe Pizza. read more

Love this little local place! My girlfriend and I enjoyed a perfect antipasto salad this evening. The homemade dressing was fabulous. Everything was very clean, and the young woman at the counter is always super nice. All around great staff at Joes. The guys in the kitchen have been working there forever, and do an amazing job. They used to have the best pizza around with the best crust sauce and cheese. And the rosemary chicken sub with cheese was to die for. However, today, I got an onion pizza and the rosemary chicken sub, and they were both horrible and I paid $35+ for a stomach ache and a feeling of dissatisfaction and being ripped off. This is the second consecutive time I ordered from them and had the same bad experience. Their prices are outrageous as well. It's too bad that the current management is RUINING what used to be a great pizza/sub shop. I will probably never go back. I like the food here. It tastes good and it's high quality. I got the Chicken Pollo Pesto Pizza. This pizza is very good and every time I order form here I order it. Their ranch fries are also very good. So good in fact, a few times when I tried to order them they were sold out! The inside is VERY small - it can only hold a few people. During the warm weather months, they do have outdoor seating which can hold a lot more people. I always order for pickup. This place being a gourmet mom and pop store, their prices are a bit high. I tried this place based on a recommendation from a friend. Based on this, we're no longer friends. Joe Pizza is trash. I ordered buffalo wings and a large cheese pizza. When I got home, I realized I had a BBQ chicken pizza and chicken tenders. I called back and they did apologize for the issue. I had to drive back to pick up the cheese pizza and wings. The pizza is gross: too much terrible sauce and not enough cheese. The wings were $12 for 10 rubbery wings; blue cheese is an extra 75 cents. No celery. Poor value, poor service. There aren't circumstances under which I'd ever return to Joe Pizza. read more

My husband called at 9:30pm on the dot on a Friday night to order two pizzas. We asked for delivery. The guy on the phone said they weren't doing delivery because they were closing soon. My husband said okay, we'll come pick it up. To which the guy rudely responded "Will you be here in 10 minutes?" We were confused, because their hours clearly state they're open until 10pm. We pushed back a little and they said they were closing early because it was slow. I wonder if you're not getting any business because you're not willing to actually work and take a simple pizza order on a Friday night. Idiotic business practice, rude employees and I agree with everyone else's comments- overpriced for what it is. Don't worry, we'll honor your wishes and take our business elsewhere. read more

Really great pizza. The sauce and the bread are fantastic. Hell, the sauce is probably the best pizza sauce around. Ingredients are spot on, especially on the spinach and mushroom pizza, which is their best pie, after the cheese. Prices are a little more than the hole in the wall pizza places, but lower than the "boutique/ yuppy" pizza places. For what you get, its a great. This is become our default pizza place if I'm not getting delivery (I live beyond the delivery area). I tend to order a salad with my pizza and the salads are always fresh and the balsamic dressing is great. No experience with delivery, which most of the complaints seem to be. read more

My wife and I are a takeout couple, and Joe has become our standard place for pizza now. We've gone through a lot of pizza places in our ten or so years in Arlington, MA, and Joe is superb. Their crust is firm, but not too stiff. The sauce is not too delicate, and not too boorish. The pizza feels "light" to me, unlike some of the greasier pizzas around. They have a variety of ingredients, so the combinations are plentiful (as I write this, we're on a spinach and bacon groove). Takeout service could be snappier, but they get a lot of business, and with good reason. Careful that you dial the right number too. I once called their Salem Street address, and had to drive double-time all the way to the other side of Medford (towards Rt. 93). Totally worth it though. read more
