    Full tenderloin sandwich
    Brighton R.

Making the trek from Utah to NY and wanted to grab lunch in Iowa. A little googling and learned that tenderloin sandwiches are THE thing to get in Iowa. Found Joensy's and I am so glad we did! The sandwiches were fun and delicious! Really hit the spot! The owners served us and they were beyond friendly! It was so nice to have a great conversation. Even my shy kids talked to her and after we left commented on how nice they were! The Reasors give this place two big thumbs up and hope their amazing family does well for years to come! Both business and basketball

Sign out front. Plenty of parking available as well as seating inside.

They weren't kidding when they said the pork tenderloin was ginormous. I could only eat a quarter of it and then had to pack up the rest of it for home. Fries were tasty. So was the side of fruit cocktail. Our server was the owner who was super friendly. Will definitely come back again the next time I am in Iowa City.

    Large tenderloin

Fantastic food, fantastic people running this place! We had multiple tenderloins, and they were awesome!

'Biggest & Best Pork Tenderloins in Iowa' Since this was the only tenderloin that I've had in Iowa, I would have to agree. That being said, put it up against other tenderloins I've had, and it definitely holds it own. Very big, juicy, and the fries are great too. Service was FAST and very friendly. The owner greeted us himself and was very outgoing. I would recommend this place to anyone. Will definitely stop again the next time I'm driving through town.

The famous Joensy's tenderloin has come to Iowa City. The restaurant is good, but the layout is a bit too wide-open. I'd like it to have a bit better layout, that was a bit more intimate. Beer selection is passable (almost completely big-brews). Tenderloin is where it's at, obviously. Best part of my visit was the french fries, though. Those were to die for. Prices are also very reasonable.

Always good tenderloins. The shakes are probably the best in I.C. Food is always served in a timely manor.

Tenderloin was not at all as good or as big as it is touted. Salad was pretty good but small for the price. Service was very good.

The $50 sirloin steak was served cold. Because our waitress, Grace H, failed to even ask how our food was the entire time until after we had eaten everything I couldn't even send it back. I spent the entire time trying to make eye contact with her but she was busy taking new tables. When she finally came to ask how our food was and was told, her response was I will let the kitchen know. Not "I will bring you another plate" or even discount or comp the entree. Not what you'd expect from Iowa city's fine dining flagship. The prices were not just expensive, but over the top expensive. $50 for an 8 ounce sirloin. $56 for 12 average oysters. To be honest it's below average in value to a nice restaurant in LA, NY or Chicago. They may thrive because the IC elite doesn't have many options for upscale dining. But for someone who has lived in those cities and eaten at Michelin star culinary venues this place is lacking in both food and service for the prices they charge. It was enough of a bad experience that I will never be back. There's Chez Grace, Joseph's and 126 which offer quality food, much better value and food service. Posting my food pics and the receipt to see what $200 gets you here.

It was good, maybe not to the level she pushed it, but really good and we enjoyed our meal. The restaurant is pretty small, but we got there early on a Sunday. No wait, though I'd guess once the church crowd starts arriving it might be more crowded. The entire place is decorated with political memorabilia as it's a frequent stop for politicians getting in the race early in Iowa. It is a 'coffee bean' caucus location, and they're proud of that! I had the biscuits and gravy and added the fried chicken. I was worried it would be too much food and had visions of a giant fried chicken breast, and while it was substantial, it wasn't overwhelming. It was a great dish and I'd order it again. Wife had a basic breakfast omelette. She liked it. Daughter did it right and ordered the French toast, which came with a great blueberry sauce. Lucky for me, she didn't finish it so I did (I'm nice like that) and it was every bit as great as she said it was. An enjoyable breakfast, and I'd return. Service was prompt with coffee refills which is also important!

I started with a strawberry rhubarb pieshake (because I'm a firm believer that desserts should be on the appetizer menu). I liked the flavor. I ate way too much dairy, but that's on me. I should have had a little restraint and gotten the pie ala mode but I wanted to try the pieshake thing. It was fun. I got a double onion burger. I really should have gotten a single, but I took leftovers home. Loved the flavor of the grilled onions. My hubby got the double mushroom & Swiss. I ate one of the mushrooms and they are marinated. The shrooms were incredible. He loved the side of hashbrowns as well as his burger. When I ever get a chance to go back, I'm getting a single Mushroom & Swiss burger and a piece of pie.

What a wonderful town Iowa City is. The downtown is very lively and extremely walkable. Iowa Chop House is located in downtown Iowa City. I went there for dinner on a Sunday and had the steak salad and asparagus. Both were excellent. I was served by Grace who was an excellent waitress and I enjoyed talking to her about the town and university. I was pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The only downside was the desert which I had a tiramisu which I'm spoiled and have better tiramisu before. However the steak salad & asparagus side was perfect. I visited only a day when graduation happened one week prior so the university students were away. The waitress explained normally downtown becomes very crowded during the semester. I will forever remember my brief visit to Iowa City. Thank you Iowa City
