Went in cause it was close to the hotel I was staying at. Got seated with Michael (he's got a sickk mullet) even though they were technically closed which I really appreciated. The best part, he didn't rush to try to get me out of the chair as fast as possible, he took his time and gave me one of the best cuts I've had in a long long time. Easy to talk to, great food recommendations for a visitor, and a great overall experience. I'd definitely recommend, he was cutting kids hair before me, and did a great job with the kiddo too! Love these types of businesses. Small barbershop that has been operating at this location for as long as I can remember. Great cut for a very fair price. I think I paid ~$14 for the cut. Full barbershop services available. Staff was friendly. I do wish they had some system for keeping track the order that customers arrive, but that's a small issue. I have been going to Joe's for almost 30 years. When I first walked in to this neighborhood business, there were 8 barbers and all of them did a great job. Over the years, the barbers changed and the quality of the new barbers was not up to the standard set by the original 8. One constant had been Stephanie. I would wait for an hour or more just for her. I tried the others but when I would get home, my wife would say, Who cut your hair? don't let them cut your hair again. Sad to say that Stephanie is no longer there so after almost 30 years of going there, I am no longer a customer. It is sad to see such an institution go from great to poor but I guess nothing stays the same. read more

Took my son and I in for a haircut recently. Eric cut my hair and beard, Chet cut my young son's hair. Chet nicked the back of both my son's ears, nicked him twice on the back of his neck, and somehow managed to cut him twice with the full width of the clipper blade on his neck. Eric kind of got my haircut right but screwed up trimming my mustache so badly, I shaved it off at home. He also took off close to a year of growth from my beard, in length and bulk. read more

The guy who cut my hair was at the chair in the back right corner when you walk in, and, his overall customer service skills weren't to bad; friendly and polite but the hair cut I received was subpar. My side & sideburn lines are not clean/ straight at all and I wasn't asked whether I wanted my sideburns to be squared or straight. Before he already "attempted" to blend it (by the way I wanted squared). My back fade was okay and my hair around the ear was not an even curve. Instead, you'll choose from one of 8 barbers there to try and find your favorite one. Plan on seeing a lot of manly men who talk about sports and politics. Don't plan to see any fashion magazines, don't plan to pay with your credit card (cash only), and don't plan to get your scalp massaged before your cut. I really like a barber that shaves the back of your neck and in my case the top of my head as well. I had an elder lady. She did great. She took her time and did a very good job. I had her trim my goatee too. $20 total. This will probably be my go to place for a haircut the two times I need one while staying in Mesa. read more

I stopped in to get my 20 Month old son's haircut. The only lady barber in the shop had a seat open and I plopped my boy in. She did an amazing job with his hair and he looked quite slick and ready for school pics at daycare. I decided to jump in and get my hair cut, since i was impressed. Miss Barber did a great job on my whig too. I couldn't believe it, I looked like a sane man, that someone might even stop and ask directions from. Good old school barber shop with no wait (at least when we went in) and a very reasonable price. The barber (didn't catch his name) also did great with my aspergergerian boy who has never sat still for haircut or not cried, screamed, or wiggled. This was our first time having someone outside the family cut his hair. The barber was patient, calm, and reassuring. My son never got more upset then some slight wiggling and wimpering which I'm sure is pretty on par for every kid. He ended up with a very traditional haircut with very neat edges and a good blend of his layers including the twirl on the back of his head.
