This is one of those great neighborhood gems that you discover by chance, or by word of mouth…read more Tucked into 42nd street, between Greenpoint ave and 48th ave in Sunnyside, Queens, this fresh seafood store doubles as an unexpectedly delicious kitchen, that puts out some seriously tasty, seasoned to perfection and cooked to preference, broiled or fried fish filets and fish steaks. Best for take-out or delivery, though dine-in option is available, if you don't mind the smell of fresh seafood on display for sale, steps away. The atmosphere is friendly and ok for a quick bite, but it's not exactly inviting as it mainly functions as a fresh fish store and quick kitchen, but there are casual outdoor seating options in the warmer months. No wait service, it's all casual and self serve. The entrées are served with a side of steamed yellow rice, or French fries, fresh lemon and a fresh lettuce, tomato, and cucumber salad. A delicious choice for dinner on any given night cooked to perfection . 1/2 pound filets / steaks (around $10-$15) or 1 pound filets / steaks (around $20-$25). Strongly recommend trying some sides too, the shrimp ceviche is really good, so are the fried clams, fried scallops, and fried or broiled shrimp. The people working there have been there for decades and are always friendly and polite. Food is prepped quickly, prep times are not long.

The place also has fresh to purchase if you want to take it home and prepare it the way you want. The store front has tables if you want to eat it right then and there. I chose to take it home. Definitely if you want a prepared fish dinner for a good price. Yep. Get it here.

What a great seafood restaurant! Greenpoint Fish & Lobster has a fresh seafood counter to purchase…read moreitems as well as a full restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation, as this spot is popular, especially on a nice weekend. We recently had a weekend brunch at one of the tables outside. Everything on the menu sounded good, but we decided on a couple of their specials. Started with the razor clams, which were cooked perfectly and topped with fresh herbs. We also had the fried soft shell crab sandwich with the side of Caesar salad. The sandwich was well balanced with the crunchy crab and herby aioli. The Caesar was light and refreshing. The fish and chips came with two fried filets of white fish and a basket of classic fries. The fish was lightly battered and flakey. The house made tartar sauce was a good complement to it. One of my top meals this year so far! Perfect summer meal!

I've never had anything like that before, but they were crispy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside. - The raw oysters and ceviche were also very good. My only complaint is that this place is quite expensive, but you do get what you pay for in terms of quality, and the portion size was decent. Our waiter was very friendly, and the ambiance inside was very nice, although it is a little tight.
