I've been to Joes more times than I could ever count and I've never regretted it. I've had an array of different entrees from spaghetti, to lasagna, to salad, to subs. You can't go wrong with anything here. The ambiance is cozy and familiar, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the food is like a warm hug. Honorable mention to the very long draft list, the pie of the day, and the mozzarella sticks! I love this place so much. read more

When visiting Joe's Inn it's easy to see why it is a Richmond institution. This no frills Fan restaurant and bar does everything it sets out to do well. When we visited, a single waitress handled the main restaurant. While this did mean it took some time to place our order, the service was friendly throughout. I ordered the Loaded Spaghetti Dinner for $21. This hearty meal was true to its name and was piled with sausage, pepperoni, meatballs, and melty cheese. The dish tasted great, and would perfect before or after a day of heavy work. read more

I came here for breakfast last weekend and it was really good. The service was awesome and so was the ambiance. We sat at the bar and I ordered the Serrano Bloody Mary which was to die for. I had 2 eggs over easy w bacon, hashbrowns, and a biscuit. I would definitely come back. read more

This was my first time eating here. We met a friend there at their recommendation. We went on a Saturday night and the wait was about 15-20 min but we were at the bar so the time passed quickly. We had salads and a pizza. Both were very good. My understanding is that they make their own sauce. The parking is street only but we did not have an issue at all. The waitress was good and we enjoyed our visit. Afterwards, we walked around a coupld of the blocks by the restaurant. That was also very interesting. Good place to grab a bite to eat. Cozy and real close. The food is ok but the atmosphere would be a great place to hang out with friends . Every time we have been my son get pizza, which he enjoys. The pasta I have had was just ok and needed a little doctoring to taste but when you want pasta it's still a win. Service was prompt and attentive. read more

Right when we walked into Joe's Inn, it was packed. I expected to wait a long time for a table, but a server flagged us over right away. I've always heard about Joe's Inn, but I never had the chance to try it until now. Our waitress greeted us and took our drink order quickly. I could tell it was going to be fast-paced service, which I love. After our drinks arrived, we were ready to order everything. We started with the mac and cheese and the chicken tenders appetizer. For our entrees, we ordered the regular burger with a side salad and the chicken parm pasta. It took around 15-20 minutes for our entrees to come out, but the time flew by as our waitress brought us salad and their signature bread with butter. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll definitely have to go back for their esteemed happy hour or brunch. read more

Delicious crab cakes, steamed broccoli, and green beans. Loved that they serve cinnamon butter with the sweet potato. The server Kels was lovely! Such a wonderful personality. The steak tips were ordered medium but they seemed well done which was not satisfying. The green beans were different (called Greek with tomato added) but tasty. The complimentary bread wasn't special. Service was fast and prices were good. Go, enjoy! read more

I absolutely LOVE this place. What a hidden gem. They have HUGE portions, a cozy inside, great drinks, and the sweetest service!! We were in a sandwich mood and decided to try Joe's. For starters, it has plenty of parking. Once inside, you can sit wherever you want. The waitress was very nice. We ordered a Pastrami Reuben with fries, but you can pick either pastrami, corn beef or turkey. I ordered extra thousand island on the side. We also ordered a Club Sandwich with cole slaw. This sandwich was huge! It can easily be shared by 2 people. The cole slaw was delicious! Overall, Joe's has great food and employees. Spaghetti a la Greek: Portions are ENORMOUS. We could not finish this for the life of us. Really just treat everything here as 1.5-2 portions per dish. Spaghetti was very tasty. Red sauce was great, and nicely balanced with the cheese. Blackened Chicken Breast: I heard about this one from Reddit. It is really tasty. Definitely get blackened. The chicken is seared very nicely, and it's still very tender. We got this with the broccoli and onion rings. Broccoli was just broccoli. Onion rings were delicious. Service was friendly. Real country girls KNOW it's hard to find chicken livers that are good and this delivered. Was skeptical because it wasn't served with gravy but the sides and portions were phenomenal! It's a SOLID 3.5 stars and if you're looking for a high quality diner - this is it! They're a well oiled machine and have gluten free bread and gluten free dairy free pizza !! I come to Joe's often and I really love it. It is a super cozy Richmond staple. I love them for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have delicious bloody mary's and onion rings! You have to try Joes at least once if you are in Richmond. I love Shield's Market across the street for dessert. read more

Hungover and need some comfort food and carbs? You NEED to stop a Joe's! I had a rowdy girls night with my sister the night before and before heading home we decided breakfast was a must. We drove to Joe's and parking spots were easy to find. We were quickly seated and our waitress was knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. We ordered a round of mimosas while we waited on our food. I ordered the Nickwich and unfortunately didn't snap a pic because I devoured it in minutes. Not my finest moment but I needed something to soak up the alcohol quickly. It was delicious and very filling! Would love to come back again and try lunch or dinner next time! While attending VCU in late 70's, this was the place to go. I would meet up with friends, order fries and baked spaghetti with multiple beers. Those were great times. I miss this place. Everytime I come to joes inn I have to get the big breakfast with french toast (eggs are missing in action bc I ate them). Best brunch in all of town and such a cozy atmosphere. The French toast is absolutely amazing it's so fluffy but also rich and doughy. Service is great regardless of how packed it is. 10/10 spot. read more

Joe's Inn is a local favorite! This was my first time grabbing a bite to eat there and in a while and now I'm sure it'll be in my regular rotation once again. I like how the menu serves a variety of options, without having so many that it's overwhelming. Additionally, their breakfast menu is available all the time and every looks amazing. My friends got the pancakes and adored them. I really enjoyed my salad with salmon and was so appreciative that the order came out exactly as I asked, thanks to the great wait staff. You will have to get street parking so I recommend carpool but there's so much space, my party of 4 we're all able to find spots nearby on a Sunday afternoon. But no matter where you have to park, make sure you take a day to eat at this delish restaurant. read more

I love Joes Inn, I feel like this Richmond classic hits the nail on the head for that diner feel with phenomenal service and delicious food. We typically get brunch here, all my friends and family love the big breakfast which comes with a generous amount of food while I typically stick to a single pancake or egg sandwich with cheese and bacon. I cannot believe it's taken me this long to come here!!! This place is amazing!!! A small restaurant hidden in the middle of RVA. So many delicious options to choose from making it pretty impossible to choose only one! This place is so good- i can only imagine that they are pretty busy for dinner service. My girlfriends and I came for lunch and thankfully it was not busy so service was quick and attentive and parking was easy to find! I ended up getting this humongous lasagna and a side salad. The lasagna was hands down 5-star delicious and the salad with their homemade vinaigrette was mouthwatering tasty. Like wow! The lasagna was huge that luckily I was able to bring it home for a second meal! I seriously love this place- so if are craving yummy Italian food (and then some!), come check this place out. Oh man, even after 5+ years of not coming it, it still is a great family spot. My husband and I decided to take the kids to this location for lunch after venturing out in the city. With our situation of having kids with special needs, we had to plan accordingly. (We packed the kid's tablets, headphones, and activity books to keep them occupied for the attempt we were going to do.) It was midday during the weekend and we got it during a time where it was right before the lunch rush. We entered in through the bar area and lucked out and got a spot in the booths - which I highly recommend in trapping the kids from hoping/jumping all over the place. Anyways, they had fans which is a big win in our books with our oldest. Our server was great and super fast with getting our orders in and checking in afterwards. We managed to enjoy our mimosa and the kids got to split a burger with french fries. I hate that I don't remember what my husband and I got but I know that it was delish! I haven't been to Joe's in forever and the food and experience was just as great, if not then much better with the family! It was a little loud but that's okay, our kids had headphones and things to keep them busy until we got them out the door! haha Overall, the family experience was great and I appreciate the fast service that we got. Joes used to be a family favorite but after tonight's meal.. no longer. My go to meal at Joe's. Is this spaghetti à la Joe and when it comes to the table it is smothered and covered in cheese. Tonight I placed a taco order we're at ordered the spaghetti al a joe. From the outside, it looked just like spaghetti with meat sauce. Once I took it out of the oven, I realize that the cheese was under the meat sauce on top of the noodles in a layered format. This is not how it comes when you die in at Joe's not sure why it comes like this to go besides the difference in presentation from eating in and taking to go it also did not taste well tonight. Tonight's to go order seemed very haphazardly put together as there were slices of bread tossed in a brown bag & in the other bag was some butter and dressing for the salads however, the tops of the dressing obviously we're not secured at pick up because by the time I got home, the brown bag was soaked in salad dressing. Making this post saddens me because for as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed eating at Joe's Inn. read more

The server didn't take our food order until 40 mins after we sat down, and it wasn't that busy. We got the greek spaghetti with meat sauce to share and the sauce tasted rancid like the tomatoes had gone bad, which was evident with the brown/dark color as well. It made the meatball taste bad on top of it. We were starving and by the time we got to tell our waiter we hated the meal and that it tasted as if it had gone bad, the kitchen had closed. We had to eat bread and salad for dinner. Not going back, was excited but let me down. read more

Had an impromptu lunch here with a few classmates on a dreary Friday afternoon! They have a wide array of menu offerings from pasta, to subs and cakes and cocktails. They also serve breakfast until the afternoon weekdays which is a huge plus for me. The prices and portions were amazing and I'd come back based off of that alone. For my meal, I got the pancakes. I'm more of a french toast girl, but the pictures I saw online didn't look that good to me and I didn't want to chance it. Along with the pancakes, I also got a side of potatoes, sausage and scrambled eggs with cheese. When my food arrived, I was brought bacon and scrambled eggs with no cheese ): It took me a minute to realize it wasn't what I'd asked for, but when I looked around for our waitress, I didn't see her. A different waitress noticed me looking around and asked if she could help, which I really appreciated. She brought me some sausage, and let me keep the bacon :) The pancakes were so good. Nice and dense and an even brown color. They bring you plenty of butter and jam and a little boat of syrup. If light and airy is your thing, these are not for you as they're kind of hearty. I could only eat one in the restaurant and finished the leftovers in 2 separate meals at home. They were still just as good. Joe's gives me the vibe of a cute little neighborhood spot with lots of regulars who tre waitresses and bar tenders know by name. It's very narrow and dimly lit. We sat on the entry side, but my friend was telling me there's a whole second seating area. The crowd definitely leaned older- lots and lots of grey heads and a couple folks reading the newspaper amongst the chatter. But that just made me like them even more. I feel like I'm in on a hidden secret and can't wait to try more of the menu. read more

I've never had a bad meal at Joe's Inn. It's cozy, it's packed, it's delightfully old school. Their pasta is ginormous (get the Greek spaghetti) and their breakfast items (also huge) are well-seasoned and tasty. Don't skip the extra crispy bacon. Their lemonade tastes like Country Time, and I mean that in a good way. You can get one free refill, which is nice too. Their cocktails that I've tried have been well made too. Don't expect to leave here without at least one to-go box. read more

Joe's Inn is an old style tavern type restaurant serving good comfort foods. They also serve breakfast all day, which includes eggs, omelettes, pancakes...etc. They also have a huge list of homemade dessert pies and cakes. We were so full we passed on dessert this visit. We ordered the chicken parmigiana and the spaghetti Greek. Both were huge portions which required to go boxes. They included bread along with a choice of soup or salad. Everything tasted good, I liked the marinara sauce but do prefer a sweeter tomato sauce. I'll try the meat sauce next time for sure. The restaurant is clean and looks to be refreshed recently with wooden tables, chairs and benches in the booths. The lack of cushions would make it uncomfortable if you were these for awhile. The service is outstanding! Our server, I believe her name was Arin was so friendly and provided everything we needed with a smile. One ding would be that the bathrooms do need a refresh and they are very small. There was plenty of street parking available when we arrived and when we were leaving. read more

Joe's Inn is a great spot to satisfy a craving for home-style cooking. The portions are massive and reasonably priced. The pasta entrees come with a salad, soup, or garlic bread. There is also complimentary bread and butter. We visited during the early evening on a Saturday and didn't have to wait too long. The restaurant was already packed and the influx of customers never stopped. The servers were all running around but that didn't affect their attentiveness to each table. read more

She took it over from her Greek parents, who opened the restaurant in 1981 while she grew up, upstairs above the tavern. I only know all this because Josie is so outgoing and loves to chat with her diners. We also had a wonderful waitress that evening who was very attentive, had a great attitude and quick to smile. If they aren't part of the decor, it was a treat nonetheless. We stepped inside from the rain with a parking spot very near the door. I snapped a pic on the way in to capture it's essence. We risked another walk-in with no reservations, and we snagged two prime end seats on the communal table. There were two open seats at the bar as well; might come in handy some other rainy Thursday night. The server, Murphy M., judging by the receipt, who helped my partner and I with our order, was a gracious host and incredibly well-practiced. It was a master class in serving, made effortless by him. He could not have been more accommodating, as we saw him appear inevitably at the exact right moments. Our server offered us bread and oil before the appetizer. The bread here is made fresh daily. It was so soft, I could not tell the difference from store bought. The food was exquisitely well prepared, the chefs and kitchen staff are immensely skilled. The appetizer was presented to us within a relatively short amount of time. We had time for a short discussion before the it arrived. The Tiropita was described as "four pieces of heaven." Accurate. The phyllo was thin and crisp, and the feta was creamy and delicious. I was careful not to bite too hard and ruin my pants. I had the Kotopoulo, which is a feta-brined oven-baked chicken with lemon and herbs served with lemon potatoes. The dish was cooked to perfection. The cooked potatoes were exactly as I like them, soft yet held their shape. It was an excellent meal, if a bit unwieldy (it's like half a rotisserie chicken, basically). My partner had the Hilopites, an egg noodle dish with giant beans, pine nuts, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and feta, in a creamy, savory sauce that I couldn't begin to describe with mere words. The meals were both stunning, made unclear by my disastrous photography. All that being said, I did not really enjoy my meal as I was expecting. Maybe it's me, maybe it's today, or maybe the flavors simply weren't what I am accustomed to with the dozens of Greek restaurants from my past. I'm uncertain, and that's okay sometimes. Either way, it was a fantastic experience, and I will dine here again.

The menu has so many tempting options that it was hard to choose, but we both landed on the Hot Chicken Sandwich with cayenne butter--and we're glad we did. Normally, green beans wouldn't be my first choice, but they were seasoned perfectly and ended up being one of the biggest surprises of the meal. Despite arriving on a Friday night without a reservation, we had no trouble getting a table. They only accept reservations for parties of 5-8, so I'm glad we decided to take our chances.
