This place is legit! The wife and I will travel the 25 minutes out of our way just to have the prime rib sandwiches here! The drinks are great as well and the bartenders and servers are always very friendly!!! The only set back they have is that they have been short staffed every time we have been there. This can be viewed as a good thing being that they are always packed but make sure you have nothing important going on after your meal because it will take awhile to get your food. read more

We went on a Friday night as one of the owners sons had said they have the best fish in town! I'm willing to say that I would put their fish dinner up against anyone's in Southeast Wisconsin! The place was booming and we did not have reservations, but they still managed to accommodate us and provide us excellent service with high quality absolutely delicious food and it was delivered in a timely fashion. We dined at Joe's on September 29th and the meal was good but first impression of the place is kind of a turn off when you walk in the door there are thousands of cigarette butts laying all over the sidewalk and the curb it's really too bad they can't take the time to just take a vacuum and clean all this up periodically. My friend Joe K. and I visited Joe's K Ranch because, well, why else...it had his name in the title! Points on that front! We braved the chilly air and the cold snow in hopes of some delicious supper club-esque goodness. It was indeed true to form in its super club style. The restaurant and the staff (we loved our waitress) we're extremely warm and inviting, and our bread basket never emptied. On a Sunday night we we're the youngest in the restaurant by about 30-45 years, but we didn't mind. I ordered the chili bowl and a side salad and Joe ordered a prime rib dip. The chili bowl and side salad we're both very reasonably priced at no more than $3.99 each while the meat options, as you would expect, we're a little more pricey. Note: Fries are not included with your meal and cost an additional $1.50 The meal was very filling, the chili very meaty, the salad very standard side salad-y, but overall pretty average. Joe however, absolutely loved his prime rib dip, and after grabbing a bite as well it's clear the meat here is the main attraction - delicious! And it was a huge sandwich-good value! On a side note the place is very large; I imagine it would be a great venue for hosting an event in that area. We live about 3 minutes from Joe's K Ranch but until today only went there for Friday fish fry. Today, we went there for late lunch. Got the six ounce prime rib and the jumbo shrimp. While it's possible we went on a good day, I'd have to say that the prime rib was as good as any my wife ever had and the shrimp were huge and perfectly breaded and fried. The first time we were at this place it was outstanding. So imagine our disappointment upon our second, and much anticipated visit. 1. For some reason, we were sat within about a half an hour of a class reunion that would overrun the area where we were. They were bumping into us, crowding around us, and the waitress was hurrying us during our dinner to get out. Upon leaving, we saw that the dining area was virtually empty; even upon being sat, there was room for our party of four. 2. The waitress pulled a fast one with upselling items. With one in our party she asked the style of potatoe he wanted. Little did he know, as she didn't say, he ordered the potatoe style that was upcharged. When I ordered my steak, she asked if I wanted it with or without mushrooms. That was a $1.99 extra. Now I would have paid for it anyway, but she made it sound as if that was included. After we got home, I was able to take a closer look at the menu online and it does mention the upcharges; however, because of how we were being rushed, we didn't have that much time to even peruse the menu. Not real swift and frankly a poor business practice on the part of the waitress. 3. My steak, a New York Strip, was ordered medium and it came rare to medium rare. Because we were being rushed, there was no chance to send it back to the kitchen. Further the steak was of a very poor quality due to the amount of gristle and excessive fat which for that cut, should not be the case. The burger my friend had was also quite under-cooked thus soaking the bun. However, the Prime Rib sandwich my wife had was excellent. It's because of these issues, they earned the rating I am giving. I would have rated them with a single star had this been our first visit, but due to our first visit, I felt another star was warranted. I can say I am not sure we will be back anytime soon, if ever. read more

I was convinced by the many glowing reviews to try Joe's K Ranch. I had pretty low, yet reasonable expectations, seeing the prices and photos, so we set out for a late lunch or early dinner on a Friday. We were welcomed and seated immediately. Knowing that they were known for prime rib, I ordered a 10 oz prime rib, onion strings, salad and a cocktail. My husband ordered the 14 oz prime rib, salad, soup and fries. Soups and salads arrived quickly, but drinks didn't arrive until we finished them. Entrees arrived. My prime rib was thinner than I expected. It was a bit tougher than any prime rib I've had and less flavorful. The onion strings looked nothing like the photos I've seen and were merely hardened pieces of coating. I found only 2 actual onion rings on the plate. My husband's prime rib was actually a smaller serving of meat attached to an enormous bone. It too was not as thick as anticipated. I felt sorry for him and gave him part of my meat. We decided that it was appropriate to say something to our server. We were discreet and polite, but the server decided to respond by yelling, telling us that there was plenty of meat on the bone yet and he should eat that (there was absolutely no edible meat, just fat). We quickly said okay and asked for the check. After a few minutes, our server returned and asked if we wanted him to say something to the chef. He should have done that without asking us. We said no, but he came back with a small piece of meat to take home as a peace offering. My husband ate it today. It really was a cheap cut of meat. My NY Strip and my hubs Ribeye were very good. Even temp throughout, a bit of light char. The stars are for service and entrees, (meat and potatoes). The meal was paced well. Both soups were much too salty. Chicken and Dumpling and "Baked"French Onion. My in-laws thought so too. The dinner salads were embarrassing unappetizing - large, white squarish pieces of iceberg lettuce, three grape tomatoes and a smattering of shredded carrots. In this experience, I was glad the serving was sparse. We paid extra for blue cheese crumbles that we shared. The cheese on the soup was extra too. read more

We were looking for a place to eat near the lakefront to have dinner before watching the fireworks. Wasn't too sure about this place but we were sold based on all of the good reviews, so I figure I should pay it forward. So in a nutshell, this place is the bomb. Their ribs are to die (fall off the bone and the homemade BBQ sauce is insanely good) for as well as is the pork tenderloin (grilled to perfection and the size of my forearm). The homemade soup was delicious as were all of the side dishes. Basically I have eaten their twice now and everything was amazing! They have specials throughout the week and with the amount of food you get, it is a really good value on top of being extremely tasty. Sidenote: They also have sand volleyball courts! Arguably the best prime rib in the city, and the price just makes it that much better. I believe the chef at K Ranch is the chef of the now-closed Southwoods supper club. All the steaks are very good but, honestly, the prime rib is just so delicious that I never order anything else. The French Onion soup is great, so are the appetizers. It's not "complicated" food, but it's perfectly executed. The service can sometimes be a little slow, but it's not because they are inattentive. It's merely because they are a "mom and pop" restaurant and they don't always have the staff for a full restaurant on a Monday night. Can't blame them for that. Jake ("from State Farm") is a fantastic server so ask for him if he's there. There is always 5 O'Clock club, or Milwaukee Steak House. Those places are fantastic...but expensive. This hidden gem will deliver you food that is on par (if not better) for a fraction of the price. read more

2nd Chance visit went very well. The young man who waited on our table was on his game he seemed professional and friendly. He never let us sit for longer then 15mins with checking in on us or at least walking by to make sure we ok. My mother ordered a 8oz rib eye special to which she gave a thumbs up. The food is a 9.5, the service is horrible. On our last visit we ordered prime rib and the bartender/server (Bob) was so slow, that it sat under the heat lamps for so long it came out well done. We asked to send it back and the manager came out (with a bit of an attitude) until he saw the grey meat. Currently sitting at the bar and we have Bob again. After ordering a beer and asking for menus we waited 20 minutes to order, finally gave up and just cashed out and are going somewhere else. There are 6 people at the bar, it's not busy. This is not going to Chipotle and Joes Ranch offers a unique setting much better than your typical franchise cookie cutter strip all location. We have been going to K Ranch for many years. The star of the restaurant has to be the prime rib. It is full of flavor and melts in your mouth tender. We also enjoy their patty melt. It was cooked just as we ordered, medium rare. This is quite an achievement because we have found that patty melts always seem to come cook well done. Service is always good even on the busiest days. Decor and ambiance is somewhat a cross of a neighborhood bar and an American Legion hall. The only complaints are that dinner salad is very basic and seem stale. On your to the bathroom, you can see a big pile of lettuce to be served for the evening's dinners. Also, beware if you substitute raw onions for the grilled onions on the patty melt, you will be charged 50 cents. It seems the owners are a little cheap. Ownership "cheapness" is also apparent on the size of pie slices. The pies are very good, but the portions are ridiculously small. read more

We both had Prime Rib, which was cooked to our perfection. The side salad was tasty and the sautéd green beans were still a bit crunchy. Our server, Sara, was extremely attentive and very pleasant. OK for starters my friend who's a girl had to send her food back twice.! She ordered a steak sandwich that you want to medium rare both times and especially the second time they came back extremely well done. The bartender was kind enough to give her some free drink tokens, but that equals less than nothing when you foolish crap! We drove up and the lot was PACKED. Had to wait 20 minutes for a table...come to find out they had a funeral party in the back room. Back room? Whaa? We sat at the bar and I looked around...they had expanded! They have a little dining room and a very large (from what I could see) back room full of tables. Got our table, drinks and they brought out a bread basket. OMG! There were these toast looking, crispy, buttery slices in there. I won't lie....I had 2. Rumor is....the folks from KRanch partnered with the people from the now closed South Woods. Well, South Woods was awesome so I was pretty stoked about dinner now. They have a Friday night menu (I think she said it was limited) with a fish fry and sandwiches, etc. Full menu other nights include (Saturday) Prime Rib, home made pizza (which I heard are AMAZING). My SIL suggested the French Onion Soup & a spicy chicken, bacon, avocado, wrap with onion strings (and they give you a ton!) . I was hoping the soup was the same as SW because it was my favorite in the city. It didn't disappoint--best I've had out in a loooong time. The wrap was delicious too, shell toasted a little. Bacon was meaty and done...comparable bacon to the Original Pancake house...perfect. Typical Cudahy crowd. The remodel looks really nice. There are three reasons to go to K Ranch. The prime rib, the prime rib and the prime rib. (Yes it's that good.) Went on a Saturday night and admittedly was a bit worried because of the online reviews, but the place has the feel of a supper club that you'd find up north. So if you want a romantic date night, I'd suggest elsewhere, but if you're not picky about decor then you will be in for a treat. My waitress Liz, was excellent and attentive despite the place being pretty packed. The soup was so-so, and the salad was just an average salad. But the prime rib more than makes up for that. It's very, very well priced and the portion was extremely generous. I've had prime rib many times at many different places across the country and this definitely ranks up there in my top 3. I'm excited to come back and to bring along the extended family! read more

When you write a review on a place that other reviewers have trashed, but you had a great meal, you wonder if the others hit it on an off night, or we did? We had the fish with potato pancakes. I think the weakest part of the meal was the bread, which seemed a bit stale. I will say that when certain items are in plastic cups with covers, it seems tacky. But the cole slaw and tartar sauce were good. I was a bit apprehensive about the place as I pulled in. I got both the YES!! / Uh-oh feeling when it appeared no one was there. It was almost 6:00 P.M., and there was only one couple dining, with maybe 6 people at the bar. Obviously, no waiting for a table. My families meals were just a comedy of errors. My husband ordered his $26 steak medium rare and it came out well done. He was offered another steak but the first one took 35 minutes to make and arrived 5 minutes after everyone else's food as it was. He opted to eat it as it was instead of waiting. My son's both ordered burgers. The first one ordered his medium rare and this too arrived well done. The other son was never asked how he wanted his burger. It was well done and the mushrooms were cold and obviously directly out of the can. I ordered the Seafood Alfredo. It came with slimy CANNED asparagus and obviously canned crab meat and sauce. For the price, I expected fresh asparagus at least. The shrimp was chewy and to top it off, I had 2 CHUNKS OF PLASTIC in my meal. I was offered a new meal and to their credit, they did take it off the bill when I refused anything else to eat. I was also given 2 drink tickets, but one of them had ketchup on it...
