This was my local restaurant to support for the day which is coming to an end since everything is opening up now. I was craving some wings and this has been a bookmark so I called to see if they were doing carry out and I heard people in the back ground, they opened up so I was told that I could come in for drinks and food. I headed over the next day for a beer and wings for take out. The place was not very full on the second day open for lunch but a guy was having a burger and frys on the end of the bar that looked good. The bar tender was very friendly and gave me my beer and menu, the menu is standard bar food. The place is your classic Wi bar, not a complete dive but not fancy. The bar is on the left as you walk in and the room to the right has hi tables, pool table is in the back. The menu was reasonable for wings at 8 for $7.50 with a dipping sauce which was perfect because that's enough for me. My to go wings looked and smelled good but that's all that was in the bag, no napkins or dipping sauce WTF because wings and dipping sauce is the whole point of wings. My hot buffalo wings were good with a nice heat and moist but not fresh wings, I didn't expect that after being closed for two months. I was really disappointed that I had no blue cheese dipping sauce for my wings because that's my favorite. read more

Looking for a neighborhood dive with elevated bar food? Look no further. The service is good. The staff is friendly and drink prices are reasonable. The establishment is cleaner than most of the shot and a beer joints around Milwaukee. But let's talk food. The owner takes great pride in serving quality food at reasonable prices. The fried mushrooms, coated in panko and fried to perfection, are undoubtedly the best I have had. The mushroom size used, medium, allows the mushroom to maintain fresh elements in a crunchy shell, that avoids the normal lava spew when biting into most freshly cooked 'shrooms. Their wings are large, juicy and crunchy and a good selection of sauces are offered. The 1/2 pound fresh beef burgers rival any premium burger joint and the $4.00 Thursday BYO burger special (toppings extra) can't be beat. Heck, even their grilled cheese, I add tomato, is satisfying. First time here. The blue gill fish fry was on my list to try. The fries on Yelp photos indicates fresh cuts. My fries were frozen fries tonight, not fresh cuts, or I would have ordered tots. The fries were fine, but when I'm expecting fresh cut fries, anything else is a disappointment. The blue gill breading was nicely seasoned and crisp, but it had a fishy taste. Fried fish shouldn't taste like "fishy." The clam chowder was one of the best I've had, so that was the highlight of my dinner, aside from the good service. read more

We stopped last nite and had a very big really tasty sandwich. The meat was cooked exceptionally well. Fries were very very hot and fresh. The lady who waited on us was a dear! She went out of her way to please us and was fast. Being as we had owned Bars/Restaurants in the past and am now retired we knew what to look for. If your truly hungry and want your food hot..I recommend this little out of the way place in St Martins. Only hang up was as we left a customer at the bar had told us he did not care for our slower old time music selections. No blemish on this business . Hope to try lunch one day. Thankyou. read more

We have been coming to this bar for about five years. This is the first time we had a carry out. We tried the Jamaican dry rub chicken wings, the Asian barbecue chicken wings, fried mushrooms, and homemade french fries. The guy that answered the phone was so polite and very helpful. They took my credit card over the phone and all I had to do was call when I was in front of the restaurant and someone ran it out. The chicken wings were big and flavorful, and we loved both the sauces. The mushrooms were hand breaded and very good. I hate frozen mushrooms. The handmade french fries were also really tasty. The food was yummy. And there was music I was dancing. The waitress, Lora was very nice and friendly I know her from back in the Truck stop/gas station. In Franklin I didn't go out to eat in a week. Have been wanting to try out this years Sticky Fingers winner for "Best Wings" for a while. Tuesday's are $.50 wing night so why not try them at a great price. The place itself still needs a ton of work but you can see that slowly, but surely, the new owners are making changes. We had no problems finding street parking although is wasn't very busy yet. The bartender was also the waitress and she was very sweet and outgoing. She proudly talked about the menu and about all the homemade food. We started with the Reuben rolls. Yum, yum!! The wings were delish!!! We got some mild and the rest were plain with a couple sauces on the side. The apricot habanero is a must try and if you really like garlic, try the garlic Parmesan!!! I've heard that the fish fry is very good so I'll definitely give that a try. Great quality food. Hopefully the area and look of the place won't scare people away. read more

Came back for dinner tonight and was pleased to see new tables and chairs in the dining room. Not only do they look great but the new chairs are more comfy. We dined from the Cinco de Mayo menu and everything was surprisingly well cooked for not being a typical Mexican joint. read more

Used to be a favorite of mine. Ordered food to go and it was absolutely terrible. First of all when you go inside to pick it up there are old drunk men trying to hit on you, then you get your food and realize it's all crap. They used to have the best burgers, now they are frozen "meat type" burgers thin and disgusting. Onion straws were literally fried onions. I contacted them to let them know my order was cold and horrid and they apologized and offered to send me a gift certificate to try again but when I asked if the food would be back to the real meat burgers and back to the quality we liked the stopped responding. My wife and I are trying new local restaurants for fish fry takeout during this era of social distancing. This is the first restaurant we tried and the food was amazing! We had the cod and both the deep fried and the breaded were excellent! What I really liked was the fact that fish underneath the breading was chunky, plentiful and tasted fresh. Often times, even the "best restaurants" will serve up frozen planks. I have never seen a cod in the wild that was perfectly flat. The potato pancakes were seasoned perfectly and the marble bread was also fresh and served as a nice compliment. The interior of the place looked like Grandmas basement bar in the 70's which is always good sign of a great food. Will be back! read more

Its a decent neighborhood bar and restaurant. Well crowded over the weekend with people coming in for light drinks and food. I like their chicken wings and fried mushrooms. Although its open till 2 on weekends but not many people stay late. The only think i am concerned here is their pricing which seems to be little inconsistent and i am not sure if the servers know how much to charge for the items, it sometimes seems to be a guess. Several years ago we found this place and thought that the food was awesome. We went often. Then we noticed that it started to go downhill. We stopped going. About a year ago, we went back to try it again, and it was not good, but we thought maybe we were the only ones thinking that, because the dining room was full. Friday night we tried again. Everything that had been good on the menu is gone. There weren't any customers eating, only patrons at the bar. The light fixture above us was full of debris. Very gross. I ordered the fish sampler, and honestly, one of the pieces tasted like dirt. What once was good has done a complete 180. We are officially taking this one off of the list. read more

Our experience was a very nice surprise. Walking into the place it looked like an ordinary local bar. Ordered a variety of appetizers which all turned out to be delicious. The breaded mushrooms were spot on and the scotch eggs were fabulous! We rounded out the appetizers with wings which were amazing. From the homemade sauces to the jumbo wings...you can't go wrong! This place is a eyesore and should be demolished. Been in a few times after the new owners for breakfast and dinner and was let down both times. The service was terrible the bartender/waitress only cared about the couple regulars at the bar. I don't think anyone in there was under 60 and the bartender did nothing about the drunk patron bothering me and my girlfriend last time we went. It smelled like cigarettes and mold. After seeing the bathroom I can't imagine the kitchen is clean. We won't be back. Wagners inn has been our go to for fish frys the past 3 years now. read more

Went out to try the Friday Fish Fry on the Journal Sentinel's recommendation. Located off the main drag- you may miss it if you don't know the area and aren't watching directions. Arrived around 7:30pm to find street and parking lot packed - Always a good sign! Walk in and greeted by 2 friendly ladies that take our name and tell us about 20min wait. This is a friendly neighborhood bar with likely the owner mixing the drinks and several regulars posted on their normal bar stools. Ordered an old fashion (muddled cherries and all) & tap beer. Stood near bar for 5min and then escorted to table. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. They were out of the specialty fish fry with panko crumbs (and bluegill) so we settled on the original fish fry with potato pancakes (the waitress was eager to offer not only syrup but also applesauce). Portion size was perfect, walked out full not stuffed. Fish flavor was awesome and perfect temp to boot. Tartar sauce and coleslaw-the mayo/dressing version was also flavorful, potato pancakes-FANTASTIC!!! Definitely worth the trip, check it out! read more

We went back for their fish fry. While the food was good as usual and the people were friendly, we were a little disappointed. It took longer than expected to be waited on AND much longer than it should have for our food to arrive. The waitresses are friendly but only one seemed to hustle. One of the slower ones was wearing flip-flops. All I could think of was "who wears flip-flops when running around on their feet for several hours?" The hustling, younger waitress wore good footwear and was still friendly to her customers. While the people are friendly and the food good, it will take a while for us to go back because of length of time to get waited on and to get our food. And I am not saying it was the "flip-flop wearing" waitress's fault - the kitchen help must have been behind also, but it was a little frustrating. read more

Wife had blackened chic sandwich with asiago red potatoes which she enjoyed I ordered Swiss street cheese steak which also was very good when it came out right. Specifically ordered w/o onions and asked waitress to confirm that this sandwich does not contain onions. Naturally order came with onions. They did remake and took off bill Service very questionable. Need more training. Asked for what beers on tap and she struggled. Asked if the sandwich I ordered had onions and she had to look at the menu. Given the mess up on my sandwich I ordered another beer which I never received. Had a blackened catfish that just melts in your mouth. Quite a surprise from an off the beaten path location. Have been coming here for about 3 years now, the food is excellent, a variety of food, and the kitchen is very accommodating with changes. The staff is extremely friendly, they make suggestions and recommendations for drinks and food. Monday is Mexican food, always tacos and a great Mexican dinner as choices! .50 wings on Tuesdays as well, with more flavors than I can remember off the top of my head. Don't feel like cooking on Wednesday? They have home style dinners like meatloaf, spaghetti, porkchops and lots of other delicious dinners. Thursdays are pizza and pitcher of beer, then a great Fish Fry menu on Fridays, Saturday you can go in for breakfast at 7:00! Nice big menu for that too! Then prime rib dinner on Saturday nights, and go back for Sundays for breakfast as well! I have been in for different Wisconsin sports, and there's lots of drink and food specials for those as well. Horrible. Very much a hole in the wall atmosphere. Building in terrible condition inside and out. Very much a bar scene even for lunch. Server was rude. Our waitress dropped an F-bomb while she was taking our order. We walked out. I've been there before and the food was pretty decent. Just a terrible dining experience. Won't ever go back.
