We were craving pizza on a Saturday night and wanted to venture outside of our bubble to try support a local business that we haven't tried before. Ordering was easy online and the staff was friendly upon pickup. The food was hot and fresh out of the oven when we got there. Overall the food was fine. Nothing insanely good or bad. I stopped in for lunch at Joe's Pizzeria & Restaurant on Changebridge Road in Montville. I had heard good things about Joe's so I wanted to give it a try. Joe's offers a nice menu with plenty of your favorite pizzeria fare, but since this was my first visit I had to try the plain pizza. Very tasty pie, thin crust, soft and chewy with a well cooked foundation, slightly tangy and sweet sauce, and a good proportion of cheese, no flop. Properly charred, firm undercarriage. I ordered the small plain pie for just for myself. Yes, I know! Gavone!!! Very friendly, well maintained, old school style pizzeria. Reminded me of a place I used to frequent in Hudson County. I liked that. Small venue with about 6 booths. Very comfortable, and we enjoyed bantering with the cordial owner and staff. Good stop! Went back to eat it while it is fresh, we got 3 slices and cost a little over 10 bucks which isn't bad at all. The pizza is a whole lot better when you eat it there. I really liked the mango habanero, it's just the perfect mix of flavor and the pizza was crunchy. The staff is amazing and attended to all of our needs and answered all of our questions. There were a few booths which seat about 4 people each if you decide to eat there and the bathroom is clean. read more

We have lived in Montville for almost 8 years and have our favorite local pizza spots but wanted to try something new. Love that they offer ordering on slice so it's the menu price and not an inflated door dash price. Pizza was pretty good, a little floppy but good. Chicken fingers were solid, not over breaded or over fried. Husband was not sold on the calzone but I would order from here again. read more

Have always loved this spot! Girlfriend isn't feeling well and just called and asked for soups, I asked if they had chicken and rice and they told me not usually but they can make it for me and proceeded to make sure they had all the ingredients. Joe's has been my family's go-to for 4 decades. I live in RI now, but recently had surgery here and when I could actually eat again, that first bite of Joe's pizza.... Omfg HEAVEN. I'm a pizza snob, I admit it...and admitting it is half the battle when you try a new pizza place. Last night I tried Joe's Pizzaria on the recommendation of a friend (and her daughter who works there part-time) and because I was pretty far away from my normal pizza joint. I felt like I was cheating on a girlfriend the during the whole experience... My son and I stopped in to place our order (to go) and the first thing he says is "Can we get a slice of Sicilian while we wait...it looks good!" So I order him a slice and also order a House salad, a pie with extra cheese and sausage, and Penne Vodka with Chicken. The Sicilian slice was excellent...a very nice way to start. Thick and crispy with an almost perfect amount of sauce and cheese. Bravo Joe's pizza...big fan of the Sicilian! The food was ready pretty fast, a little pricey, but not outrageous and we were on our way. Got the food home and opened everything up. The salad was, well, a salad. I did like that they used mixed greens and not just iceberg lettuce. The pizza tasted VERY good, but I'd like to try it with a regular amount of cheese and I wasn't a fan of the sausage - thin, small slices and spread out sparsely around the pie. Tasted ok, but I've had much better sausage on pizza - the pizza itself was still great though. And the Penne a la Vodka...my kids' go-to pasta meal when we go to a pizza place. My daughter liked it, but not better than our regular place. My son loved the fact that they use breaded chicken in theirs and he liked it more than my daughter, but he still like our regular place more for the penne. I tend to agree with my son - loved the breaded chicken, but our other place is better. Now, all that said, I go back to my original sentence...I'm a pizza snob-so comparing one place to my regular place isn't fair. I am 100% sure I am coming back to Joe's because the pizza is THAT good. I'd like to try some of their other dishes as well so I will be back. My daughter's teammate works here part-time as a waitress...sadly she wasn't here last night for me to pester. I guess that means I have TWO reasons to come back. The chicken cutlet sandwich here is to DIE for. Seriously, it's the best one I've ever had (and I've tried it at many other pizzerias and restaurants in New Jersey). The bread is so soft in the inside, the chicken is nicely breaded and tender, the lettuce perfectly shredded, the tomatoes are ripe, and there's just the right amount of mayo where it's not too overpowering. I've probably had this at least once a week in high school and I ALWAYS get it when I come back from college on breaks. Everyone has to try it - I promise you, it will not disappoint. However, I only gave this place 4 stars because the pizza here is good but nothing special. The chicken Caesar salad is slightly above average - it's a decent size and is pretty filling. One of a few pizzeria in the town I go to from time to time. It's best to eat the freshly made pizza AT the spot. My favorite is the regular cheese pizza when they are hot. Every time we eat their pie, it reminds me of growing up near Hudson County and the Pizza Parlors back then made their dough. And that is what is great about Joe's. This review is solely for the chicken cutlet here. The bread is soft, the chicken perfectly cooked, the lettuce nicely shredded, and the mayo is just enough. If you like onions, make sure you ask for them as well; they definitely add to the sandwich. The sandwich is large enough to share. They have one of the best pizza pies in the area. we always get our pizza from here when we order in. The pizza is the right amount of soft and bendable. u can fold it in half to eat it perfectly. We get pepperoni and regular cheese mostly, its always so cheesy and perfect. we get a chef salad as well which is always good. however lately sometimes i feel like there is too many cold cuts in proportion to the amount of lettuce. everything we get here though is always impressive and tasty. read more

My boyfriend and I pick up from here a lot because it's really close by. I always get the penne vodka and he always gets the chicken parm with linguine. They also give you like half of a baguette with your meal so that's always great when it comes to dipping. The food is normal pizzeria fare- definitely not high end Italian or anything but that's not what it is meant to be. The penne vodka is creamy and the pasta isn't overlooked (which is a feat for pick up because it usually overcooks while it sits there). The chicken parm is cheesy and the chicken is cooked well - crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Very rude! Lost my business tonight. If your open till 10 pm act like it. Called in a to go order at 9pm. The man that answered the phone was extremely rude. When I asked to place an order. He said pizza only! So I said, so I can't get a sandwich? Anyways to make a long story short he took half my order and just hung up. Went here for a cheesesteak. Asked for extra meat, extra cheese, and mushrooms. What did I get...a cheesesteak with no extra meat, no extra cheese, but they added peppers and onions. This is a great place to get a slice of BLAND! Pizza was one step above cafeteria and had no real taste or appeal. Food was equal to typical frozen food, although this place made frozen food appealing! It is like marrying a woman you are not crazy about. We only had the plain pizza, but its hard to find a good pie! This was a winner! The crust was crispy on the outside and allowed you to bend it down the center for perfect eating, sauce was tastey, and a good balance between cheese and sauce. The portion was generous as well.
