I had two gents to my home for a "free" and "no-obligation" quote on a fence in the suburbs of Seattle. After I emphasized multiple times that budget was important to us they gave us a quote of $171per foot for the 105 feet of fence. It was North of $18k (before tax)! This would be enough to buy the materials and have a crew of 13 workers going full time for a week! Obviously, they are not going to need 520 hours of labor for a fence (because I have replaced fence sections in the past), so the Markup is Huge. Also, more than triple another quote we got! But here is why I'm bothering writing this review. Apparently after my "free" and "no-obligation" quote the seem to have sold my lead information to at least 25 other construction/handyman companies! I got 22 calls all from different numbers the Tuesday after my quote with other fence salesmen who wanted to "shoot their shot". It is actually hard to work with so much spam coming in! I already told Joey Builders no. They didn't ask me if they could share my number, or have every other builder call me. I cannot recommend this company. I do not believe they will give you a good or competitive deal. And it seems that if you don't buy from them you will effectively be harassed by other random builders for the next couple of days. I don't want that. I don't want that for my friends. I don't want that for my family. I don't want that for you. read more

When you request estimates for a construction job, you expect a licensed contractor to show up to explain what can and cannot be done, type of materials that will be used, approximate time to complete a job and finally the cost. After 3 estimates I hired Joey Builders. We wanted to replace my driveway, tiny porch and new handrails. Verbally and on my contract this job was supposed to take 2 weeks. That seemed reasonable for my very small house. Nadav, the person I met with, quoted the cost and wrote the contract. I assumed he was a contractor since he was telling me what could and could not be done. I found out later that Nadav was NOT a licensed contractor. He said Joey Builders had employees for all the different projects needed. That was NOT true. Right from the start it was a struggle to get their guys to show up. I'd ask "why isn't anything happening?" It turns out everything is subcontracted, which is not uncommon, but I was lied to because they DID NOT have their own full time employees. I was told they were at other jobs, but they would be here "tomorrow." This went on over and over and I got into numerous angry discussions with Nadav. Eventually Nadav brought his assistant, Bau, with him to attempt to smooth out the ongoing problems and my frustration with the project and the errors I was finding. That did not go too well either. Bau was simply saying the same thing to justify the delay in workers and fixing their mistakes. While building the driveway, a portion of my expensive turf was lifted. Once the driveway was completed Nadav and Bau used different construction workers to try to lay the turf back to its original place but the final straw was when one of the guys used CEMENT to stick the turf and keep it from moving. I was livid! I finally called the company that initially installed my turf to come and fix it. The porch steps and handrails were a nightmare to complete. The job was finished in 8 weeks (not 2 as noted in the contract). 6 extra weeks may not seem like a lot of time but when you're paying for what you both agreed to, it is!!! Fast forward 7 months, 2 handrails are very loose so I called Nadav but he's no longer with the company so I called Bau. Over the phone Bau is accommodating and keeps setting dates for George (handrail guy) to come to tighten the rails. After about 5 "no shows" George comes by and tightens 1 handrail but not the other one. Not sure why. I am sooo frustrated because now Bau is telling me we NEVER should have gotten those rails put on. Turns out they're not even handrails, they were floor panels!!! I didn't know that and once again, this is proof that there was no professional here to advise that these rails should not have been used for handrails. I am within my 1-year warranty and demand that they fix the handrails. Bau agrees to fix them "for a cost." I refused to pay more so I figured I'd contact headquarters. I wrote a long e-mail to Joey Builders headquarters with a chronological order of what has happened up to this point. I wanted a licensed contractor to come and fix THEIR problem. Their response was nothing! All they did was send me Bau again!!!! After another 3 "no shows" Bau was now ghosting us. He would no longer return my husband's calls and had George call my husband. After almost 5 months George FINALLY showed up on a Saturday, removed the floor panels and replaced the handrails. George completed this in approximately 2-3 HOURS!!! Yet it took Joey Builders 5 MONTHS to get this done!!!!! They just didn't care anymore since they got all my money (21+K) already! Bau and Joey Builders showed no concern for their shoddy work or my time. I would rearrange my schedule to make sure I was home at the time George was supposed to come over only to have a total of 8 no shows! I would NEVER recommend JOEY BUILDERS. I still have a lot more things to say but this review is long enough. I tried to shorten it but had to say the above to paint a clear picture. read more

This company is more than happy to waste your time. Called me to set up an appointment for an estimate on some work, called me and told me they were going to be late, then did not show. Called me the next week, set up another appointment - this time someone did show up, surveyed the job and told me would get back to me with an estimate. Never sent me the estimate, followed up via email, never heard back. Assumed they weren't interested. The following week someone called asking if I wanted to schedule a time to meet with an estimator. I explained that someone had already been out and never followed up with the estimate. He said, "oh that's odd, I don't have any record of that. Let me send a supervisor out to take care of that." Set up another appointment, another no-call, no-show. No one answers any of the phone numbers either. I don't know if these things are scheduled by some call center that doesn't actually deal with the locations or what the deal is, but bottom line is I have no longer have any confidence in this company. read more

Not the location in San Diego!!! Both sales guys come to my home in a Tesla, not marked with company name. Neither rep had a business card!! Really?? I used to be a field rep in Healthcare and never would show up to a client with no business cards on hand. Asked to see my Home Depot vent piece and when I went to get it inside, we have one of them yanking a lemon off our tree on our Ring camera!! Unprofessional much?!! Took my vent piece I bought from Home Depot and told me it was in our backyard!! My husband and I both looked and couldn't find it. I texted David and no response!! I called the office last week and spoke with a so called manager, Natalie. She assured me they would send me my piece and send me a bid!! I got neither one.. WOW!! I advise don't reach out to this company at all!!! I would never give them my business!! The guy was throwing numbers out without getting up there on a ladder!!! San Diego has many other professional roofing companies you should seek bids from! Wayne with Top Line Roofing and Bob Piva who has been in business for many years!!! In a weak moment last night, I typed my info to the Home Advisors website. Ugh. Bad move. This morning I had multiple people calling me repeatedly from this company on multiple different numbers with various different area codes, but not leaving messages. This company is a multi-state operator, but they sort of act like they're local and they just aren't very direct in explaining how they're set up. I'm in Southwest Washington state, and the company isn't even listed in Yelp for this area. I dug around and I found this Yelp listing down in Southern California, along with a lot of one-star reviews about them driving people crazy with spam phone calls. When I figured out about the multi-state thing and all the phone numbers, it seemed too complicated; I want to work with someone locally based, not some big spamming conglomerate. I'd made an appointment with them, so I called one of the numbers they'd called me from to cancel it. The guy picked it up and said, "Hello?" like it's not even a business line. It's the guy's cell phone. Anyway, I told him I needed to cancel the appointment, but that guy didn't tell the other guys, who showed up at my house while I wasn't home and, according to my housemate, were confused as to why I wasn't home. So I called them again to try to clarify that I'd canceled the appointment...he was nice at first but hung up on me after I said this was too complicated. In short, these guys might do great work, but it's just too much trouble to try to communicate with them and I don't like that they don't really explain very well up front how their company is set up. I need to deal with a local business near where I live. YMMV. read more

Joey Builders in Oregon/SW Washington provided us a bid on our porch railing project. We accepted a bid from a different company. Today I received perhaps my 10th call from Joey Builders asking if we are still accepting bids (I said no). I think the callers are different people at JB. I even asked them to remove us from their call list. If my experience is not uncommon, you might find that if you don't accept their bid or don't end up working with them, you will get called over and over again. They didn't take no for an answer. Also, their call appears as "Possible spam" on my phone. read more

What's a terrible company. They got my information of some list I filed out online. Sent a "project manager" out who didn't understand a thing I said. I said the project is in design. She asked if I got engineer. I said yes. She asked is it "submitted for engineer." At this point I was frustrated. I said it is in design, it has to be done before it is submitted for permit. She asked so I only need to have someone "dig the thing." I said yes, I am the project manager. She asked so I am not the owner. At this point I said, I am the owner and manage the construction myself. She then said "you are not nice" and left. I am so glad I don't have to talk to her one more second. Clueless people shouldn't work on your project or manage your project. If these people offer to come out to estimate your job, just say no. read more

Contracted for kitchen remodel and garage floor replacement. 1. Promised 4 week completion, going on week 8 and waiting. 2. We had to hire a plumber to correct joey's placement of disposal - drain. A design issue that they would not own. This, symbolically, unfortunately, sticks in our mind. 3. Consistent communication problems between me and supervisor and between Joey and their subcontractors. 4. Quality of work was mostly good. Materials are top notch. 5. Subs were all friendly people and worked diligently. 6. Design team was a weak spot in the process. Difficult to work with, documentation was subpar, it was either never up to date, or lacking. Many instances where our expectations were not met. 7. Their cost was on the high end of the bids. If they had met expectations it would have been worth it. We mostly like the end product but have a sour taste. 8. Mostly, they were flexible making changes, some of would not have been needed with proper design flow. 9. If you choose them, I suggest getting an intermediary to check details, coach you, and see that everything is documented and readable. If you do those things up front, you could have a better idea experience than did we. read more

As of late August 2024 this company is not answering any of their phone numbers given on their business cards or their website - including all their California and Washington state numbers. I've called numerous numbers on many different weekdays and every phone number rings a few times then disconnects. Nor do they respond to text messages or emails. I met with Albert B. in early August and he gave me a competitive quote to repaint my kitchen cabinets and install new doors. I gave him a deposit check which he agreed to hold (not cash) until we agreed on the exact doors he would install. When he didn't respond to text messages over the next few days I became concerned and stopped payment on the check. Since then I've sent numerous emails and text messages, and called all the phone numbers on his card and on their website. No answer, no response. read more

I had a consultation with one of their reps to build a 2 bd 2 bath adu. He was very nice, he asked for our blueprints of what we wanted done. I forwarded all of it to him and he said he would get back to us with a quote in a couple days. That was 3 months ago. I've texted and emailed but he never responded. Such a waste of time. We would give negative stars if it were possible! As we are in the middle of figuring out the scam that was pulled on us by an employee, there are many issues that are completely unacceptable . The biggest is how we originally agreed on our backyard remodel for $40k, things have happened in their company and they are saying the cost is now $80k. When one of the finance people were looking over our backyard he told the other gentleman with him that our backyard shouldn't have cost $40k... we are still waiting on our backyard to be finished (started in August it is now the end of Feb) and they are trying to get $80k to finish it. They are fraudulent and are not honoring their contracts. read more
