We arrived late on a Friday and went for our annual slice. They heat the slices up in a real oven- so they stay crispy. The plain variety allows you to really taste the sauce. Decided to call in an order for a large sausage pizza for pickup, was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I parked at the end of central ave and walked 30 minutes to the boardwalk - pizza wasn't even put into the oven yet because the woman forgot about our order. Sure, it's a bit pricey compared to slices I get in NYC, but you're paying for the convenience of having it right on the boardwalk and they are open late. Perfect for when craving a few slices after partying at Jenks or the Tiki Bar. Helps fill your belly and soak up the beer. Seating inside and outside. Clean place and friendly service. Older gentlemen working behind counter (owner?) always seems crotchety and annoyed. I would suggest that he cheer up a bit or work non-customer service jobs. It's hard to find good pizza at the Jersey Shore but this place might be one of the best. Joey Tomatoes, right on the boardwalk at Point Pleasant Beach and across from Jenkinson's, has a good variety of specialty slices like Buffalo Chicken, Broccoli Rabe and Cheesesteak. It's 4.50 a slice for the specialty slices which is a tad bit high but better than paying a buck less for cheap frozen tasting pizza elsewhere on the boardwalk. Unfortunately this pizza is still inferior to places up in Northern Jersey (sorry, gotta be honest!). read more

This pizza is the best I've had, and I feel ill whenever I'm done because I finish whatever my wife and kids don't eat. The smoked mozzarella is the best, but sinfully second place is the deep-fried eggplant. My complaint is Type A. They can't seem to decide how to spell the restaurant's name. Signage and cups have all three of these possibilities: Joey Tomato's (on storefront) Joey Tomatoe's (on cups and some internal signage) Joey Tomatoes (internal signage) Note that only the storefront version is correct. E.g., if you're name is Joe Tomato, and you have a restaurant, you'd use the apostrophe. Lame punctuation, but great pizza. read more

Pizza at the Jersey Shore is always different. Sure, NY and Chicago has great pizza but just a different feeling. Maybe its all the sand? haha I went to this place a a year ago and never wrote a review. It was a steamy Saturday night and our first visit to the shore that summer. The last time I had gone to this place was as a 5th grader when we visited the aquarium. The pizza isn't cheap but thats because the slices are huge! Very filling to just eat a single slice. I'd say this is a much better option than buying hot dogs or fries at a similar cost just to not be full. My family and I order a pie and were amazed at how huge it was. Big and delicious!
