Tried this BBQ for the first time last night. I have drove by this place for over 30 years. It is probably one of the best bbq places I have had in So Cal. After 45 years of patronage, we won't be back. My beef ribs were over cooked. Dehydrated like jerky. I told the server and she said she would inform the cook. (That solves it?) My husband's pork ribs were flavorless. The meat used to fall off the bone and was seasoned and slathered with sauce in prior years. If we are paying $70 for 2 entrees, we expect them to be flavorful. Also the bbq sauce was not seasoned the same as in past years. The server said it was the same recipe. Trust me, we know our sauces. It is missing that little kick of spiciness. And an ingredient of sweetness. Not sugar something more complex like tamarind or sweet onion ...something. ? Joeys bbq has been around a long time and I've always enjoyed coming here. They use my two favorite hardwoods for smoking; mesquite and hickory. Had some kind of hazy ipa first, it was pretty good. Then I ordered the two Prime Rib Beef Ribs (ordered 2 but got 3. Free bonus rib!) coleslaw, corn on the cob and bbq sauce. Really good and I felt like Fred Flintstone eating these huge ribs. I wanted to take the boys out for some meat and one suggested this place. I'd never even heard about it but we gave it a try. I'd say the prices are fair compared to other places, especially off the à la carte menu. The he food was decent, the ribs were good but I didn't care for the sides. Overall, I'd bring more people but it's not to die for or anything crazy. The service was good and they do have the flag on the table to call the waiter over which is interesting. Went for lunch and we tried a few things -Beef Ribs - Baby Back Ribs - Brisket - Sausage Sides - spiced watermelon - corn bread - beans - potato salad - mac n cheese The service was phenomenal. It had an old school vibe. It was clean and has indoor and outdoor seating The meats were overall pretty good. The ribs had a great flavor and bbq sauce was really good. The beef ribs were a good size. Only one part of one of the ribs was dry but the other side was tender and juicy as well as the others. The baby ribs were tender and had great flavor. Our favorite was the brisket. Our least favorite was the sausage. I wasn't a fan because when we bit into a piece it kind of crumbled. Seemed dried out but it had good flavor. The spiced watermelon was refreshing and the cornbread was hot and light. The Mac and cheese was solid. I'm not a fan of mustard based potato salad but my wife is and she really liked it. I didn't taste it but she said the ingredients worked together well but it was just a little mustard flavor forwarded. But she was a fan of it. So people that don't like a mustard flavor might not like it. We were split on the beans. I thought they were ok. Very light flavoring. But my wife absolutely loved it. Quality of food and service went down during the pandemic. It never recovered. It instead continued to stay mediocre. High prices. Slow service. Abysmal quality of food. Not surprised this place is finally closing. They had a choice to return to thier former glory, instead they chose to capatilze on thier legacy while not living up to it. We stopped by Joey's BBQ because my SO craved bbq. The whole restaurant is large with in door and outdoor seatings. Sadly there weren't a lot of customers, maybe because Riverside is rural? We ordered brisket burnt ends and pulled pork sandwich with corn breads (premium side so additional $4.50) and potato chips. Both are very delicious. I could taste the grill being used from these meat, charcoal usage. I love it. The total of the meal is $53 if paid by cash. The menu lists the cash price, not credit card. Overall it was a nice experience. Meal was served fast. Coke was unlimited refilled as well. Service was fast too because the staff refilled our drinks. read more

SO SO SO GOOOOD, I am so sad that I live far away so I can't come back as often as I wish I could! The service was slow because they were really busy and didn't have many hands on deck but still pretty good besides that! There's such a cute spot outside and I heard there's live music some nights, inside is super homey and cute I loved it! The food was delicious, the baby back ribs the brisket, Fire! We have lived in Chino for over 30 years and Joey's BBQ has always been an awesome BBQ spot. Back in the Johnny Bennett days, if y'all can remember the singer in the patio you are an OG. Well, those days are gone. Went Friday night to revisit Joey's before taking our friends there next week. Glad we did, what a disappointment. As much as we raved to them about the amazing Joey's food, that would have been embarrassing. Not even close to what it once was. Food came out quick, probably because it was already sitting on a plate. The ribs hardly had any meat on them, baked potato was hard lol the corn on the cob was boiled to death...mush on a cob! $43 dollar mediocre meal. My wife's pulled pork sandwich was not very good and her corn was also murdered. We raised the flag for more garlic bread which took 20 minutes to hit the table. What a bummer, sad to see such a once great place head downhill. Total for Rib plate, pulled pork sandwich and two Michelob Ultras $84 ouch! Wouldn't mind if was Joey's BBQ of days past. Went last week and the food and customer service were great. So, I was craving more. I went back a week later to satisfy my craving and ordered the exact same meal, as prior visit (baby back ribs and a burnt ends plate) and I got this (see pic below) Undercooked and not as good as prior meal, by any means. They tried to convince me that it was all in my head and it was the same plate. Also, ordered a plate of burnt ends / Delicious on 1st visit but was soooo fatty and gross today. Won't be back, ever. Instead of comping 4 little pieces of ribs (1 of 4 racks) for the inconvenience, I was still charged. You decide / Does this look like the same meal to you? Didn't think so. Interestingly enough, I typically don't take pics of my food but happened to absolutely love the taste of the ribs. So much so, that I had to show my friend how amazing these ribs were (1st visit). I showed this pic to the waiter of how different the same order looked and he was very helpful, but I was not going to convince him that these ribs were horrible and NOT what I expected. Too much money to have to risk these inconsistencies from one week to another. In final, I don't mind spending on good food, but this is not acceptable and not professionally handled. read more

They have an outdoor patio area where there was someone playing the guitar and singing. It's a great place to go if you ever crave BBQ. read more

3 STARS Joey's BBQ in Chino has a very Texas-BBQ feel to it with the outdoor seating in the patio, and the indoor decor inside the restaurant. We went a little later in the evening on a Saturday, and might have gotten the slim pickings for what was left at the end of a long day of BBQ, so I might try to go a little earlier in the day next time. I ordered "The Works" ($55.25), which came with ham, beef, chicken, beef rib, pork ribs, and country sausage link. It was basically a sampler platter - and I figured this was the best way to try all of their meats. The best items on that platter were the chicken and surprisingly, the ham. We thought both the beef rib and the pork ribs were dry, and same thing with the sausage link. The 2 side dishes we got with "The Works" were the mac & cheese, BBQ beans, and a 4 piece side of cornbread for an extra $6.90. We enjoyed the cornbread the best out of these 3 side dishes, and will likely try to order other 2 new side dishes next time we visit. We weren't big fans of either the mac & cheese nor the beans. The real star of the show for us though was the Peach Cobbler dessert that we ordered at the end ($9.75). I would come back just for that cobbler with the ice cream on top. I really enjoyed the ambience, service, and the music. I just wish that food wasn't as tough. Ordered two prime rib beef ribs and two sides - fries and Cole slaw. Not much meat on the beef ribs. Fries could have been warmer, good Cole slaw. My wife initially ordered the pulled pork sandwich but it wasn't available for some reason, so she ordered the 1/2 rack St. Louis ribs and fries and bbq beans. They were excellent. She had a glass of Chardonnay, which came in a can. I had a light beer and a glass of Cabernet. The bill before tip was just under $108. Service was good, friendly servers. read more

The pickled onions were amazing, wanted more to eat with my brisket. The baked beans were too sweet. My boyfriend ordered sausage, a rib and brisket. The sausage had dirty smoke taste, which was a big let down for him. He loved the rib! He agreed that the brisket was too dry. The cornbread was the hero, it tasted amazing!! The service was okay. There was a screaming kid at another table. There isn't much decor at the restaurant. For a barbecue place to be this expensive but only have fair food is disappointing. A Friend took me to Joey's, the place is legit, big sacks of charcoal are piled high as you enter but I think I made a bad selection, the bread on the Texas Cubano sandwich was kind of old and crumbling apart, the meats were great but the pickles weren't inside the sandwich, I diced the spear and put it inside. I've ordered takeout the last 3 times, including today, and was very disappointed. The sandwich was small, and the beef rib was mostly grizzle, with hardly any meat. I'm almost convinced that the takeout orders are given the least desirable pieces, than a sitdown order..This is my last Joeys order. 4/19/26 , As of this date, no owner/mgr comment to improve deficiencies or make positive changes. Experience was horrible. Host looked overwhelmed trying to juggle seating and to go orders, servers did not know what they were doing and people were basically seating themselves. When we got seated our server (older lady with glasses) came to our table once to take an order and then never checked in on us. Asked 3 times for water until we actually got it. We waited 45 minutes from the time we ordered for some mediocre meal to actually come out. Beans no flavor, corn boiled to death, mac and cheese was store bought pasta with cheddar cheese sprinkled on top that wasn't even cooked? Meat and ribs were not tender at all and dry as heck and appetizers that we ordered came out the same time as the food. One of them was cubed watermelon. It takes 45 minutes to cut watermelon? We get it was busy and it was hectic but for the server to avoid us and not keep us in the loop of what was going on made it even worse. 174 for a table of 4 and 45 minutes later we got to eat a mediocre meal and left with a bad taste in our mouth. The brisket was super dry, and the pork ribs were both chewy and dry. After that, we didn't even bother with the chicken. The beans were also disappointing. While the corn on the cob and watermelon appetizer were good, I still wouldn't recommend it. We came home with a lot of leftovers. It has come down since the last time we came. read more

I have been a patron of Joey's BBQ for more than 20 years. Unfortunately, due to their shortcuts and overcharging of their food. I am no longer a patron. For example, BBQ Beef Ribs. The NORMAL size of Beef ribs are at least 10-12 inches long. For decades that is what they serves. NOW. Their Beef ribs are only 4-6 inches long AND they charge wayyyyy over the amount they should. A full rack of ribs by their standards now is absolutely ridiculous. Used to get a full rack of ribs with each rib 10-12 inches long and there were 8 ribs to a full rack. NOW, it's a joke. They try to pass off a full rack of ribs and it's no more than an appetizer AND the quality of their beef is horrible at best. They don't care though. read more

However one all gender washroom is not adequate in my opinion. Beef brisket sandwich was great. French Fries were overpriced in my opinion. I had "Wooder" to drink. I thought the food was great but the service was not. It was busy, but took over 30 minutes for a waiter to come by and take our order, and only after we walked up to the front and asked if we could order there. I would stay away from this place if you're thinking about having any type of big group gathering. We ordered our food at the same time that we ordered our drinks in hopes that they would get a head start on it. Drinks came out 20 min after we ordered, mind you we didn't order anything special besides regular soda. It took the server another 10 minutes to even acknowledge my son's sprite that he repeatedly asked for until my mother in law stood up and asked for it. When he came back with it the food was about ready, so we thought. The whole party was served while we waited for ours. We kept seeing the server come check on everyone's order but ours never came out, we stopped him and asked what's the hold up after seeing everyone else get theirs and they said oh it's coming out in a minute, we waited about another 5 min and by the time the food was served to us it was cold. Like it was just dumped on a bun straight from the fridge, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and it was the most disgusting piece of pulled pork, it looked like a big blob of mucus. no meat just fat. I sent it back and didn't order anything else because by that time everyone in our party was done eating. My daughter ordered Mac n cheese and they never brought that out to her, while all the other kids were just eating in front of her. My husband and I were so upset that We decided to just get up and leave. By far the worst experience I have ever had at any restaurant in my life. Wow howdy partner ! We had such a blast at joeys. Talk about a trip to the past this spot reminded me of Texas style bbq. The food was so good and the server Mónica very friendly and helpful. I had the turkey breast and it was juicy and flavored. Stop the car! The corn bread was spongy and taste like a cake. They had live country singer that was singing and working there for 44 years. Local small BBQ restaurant in the Pomona/Chino area, not like Lucille's but still good. I was very impressed with how fast they brought out our order and the food tasted good. The baby back pork ribs were meaty, tender and finger licking flavorful . You can pick either 2 sides or 1 premium side. I went with the 2 sides and glad I did!! The bbq beans were so delicious and the potato salad They give you toasted garlic bread which was ok. Biscuits would've been better in my opinion but it was still a good starter. The menu has a variety to choose from, from of course BBQ, to sandwiches, salads, etc..The service was decent. You sit yourself and although it took a bit to get out drinks started, the wait staff was friendly and helpful. They all help each other out.
