My daughter has been a student of Joffrey Ballet School for three years and she loves it! The teachers, especially Miss Jazmine and Miss Hayley, are caring and encouraging -- my daughter is learning to be not just a great dancer, but a strong, confident girl. Young dancers are given the opportunity to take the stage with the older students and members of the dance company for the annual performances of The Nutcracker and Alice in Wonderland. The experience of learning to perform is invaluable. If I had any complaints at all, it's that the performances are held all the way out in Queens which is a challenge to get to during the week of recitals leading up to the performance. My other gripe is that the staff at the performance location do not allow photographs to be taken. Not Joffrey's fault, but I do wish they chose a closer location with friendlier staff. All in all, a great dance company and I'm glad I'm able to send my daughter here to learn from the best. read more

I enjoyed my time taking classes here but there was a few stand out issues I had. I took the beginner ballet class with Stephanie. She was a very blunt teacher. Immediately I knew this was a very serious class. In the beginner level here, they expect you to understand every basic position and movement. The way they design the classes is very confusing if you are new to the studio. I should have been in the absolute beginner ballet class but they rarely offer this class month to month. There is also basic beginner which is a level above absolute beginner and level below beginner. See what I mean? why are we call the classes such similar names. Yes they include descriptions, but I feel anyone new to the studio would be confused. I could tell since a lot of people in my class did feel out of place and under trained! Will I come back? I wanted to, but like I said, they rarely offer the absolute beginner and after my class with Stephanie I lost my confidence to jump into it after so many years off. read more

Our experience with Joffrey summer intensive NYC was sadly disappointing, and I'm sad to say the response I got from the program director was unsatisfactory, and basically called my child an outright liar. My daughter attended Joffrey during the heat wave in NYC, and was placed at Pearl Studios. Unfortunately, the AC in their room was out the entire week. She was able to leave class and cool off in the common areas, but this meant that she missed instructional time. The director says there were no issues, even though they had 4 fans in the classroom, handed out ice packs to the kids, and apologized during the week for the AC issues. The kids in other rooms claimed they were freezing, but the kids in my child's room were having to gather around ac vents in the hallway to cool off. Furthermore, the food is practically inedible if you buy the meal plan. We had heard about this from other people who's kids had stayed in the dorms, but I didn't quite believe it until we experienced it ourselves. I know everyone from Pearl to Joffrey is trying to cover their butts by saying there were no issues, but I'm here to tell you there were. I gave them a 3-star rating because my daughter did really like the teachers and RAs, and she would have loved the classes so much more had she not been on the brink of heat stroke. The dorms were clean and new, and she made some new friends. Plus she loved being in NYC, with the freedom to explore on her own with her roommates. So it wasn't all bad, but as I've watched her friends at other intensives over the summer, I've realized there are programs that are run so much better elsewhere. read more

Stay Clear of Joffrey Ballet School. We paid 3k dollars for a New York Theater Intensive. It was canceled and moved to zoom. And they are refusing to refund any money. Multiple emails are returned with form letters. Phones are not returned. They fully intend on committing fraud and keeping everyone's money. Steer clear. My daughter was in the professional trainee program. She experienced a toxic environment with bullying from both the students and instructors, with no potential recourse. My daughter attended 2 years here in the professional program. I have to be truthful , she suffered bullying by some of the student body . The teachers there did nothing when my daughter expressed this to them. Which caused my daughter to become depressed. Not comforting. My daughter also witnessed other girls being recipients of bullying. After learning the truth , that the school was trying to cover up , I withdrew my daughter. I have to say if it weren't for the favoritism there I believe this school might have potential. Also not much preparation in helping audition prep or fairness in roles in productions. UPDATE: Two years and 10mths later we have been paid back in full. They did a payment plan of one payment per quarter...not ideal but we did get our money back. The new director was very kind and understanding and helpful. So I can't rate their program, as my daughter never took it because of their cancellation, but I can up them to three stars for fulfilling their obligation to us. I do maintain that it's insane we were required to come up with all that money in a few short months in the first place and then it took them almost three years to pay it back but at least we got it back. read more

Regarding summer intensives. Joffrey has moved their summer intensive to an all day long zoom class which is not what we signed up for. It is not possible for them to offer the same caliber of classes online vs in person especially in regard to corrections and partnering for the older advanced student. It is not even safe for my daughter to practice en pointe safely at our house without proper flooring. I have sent multiple emails requesting a refund receiving only replies that they will not refund. They state they will only credit for 1 year from now but there is no guarantee that my daughter who is a senior will be in a position to do a summer intensive a year from now even if classes can be held. They changed the terms of the agreement due to no change on my part and I am hopeful that they will make this right so I can change my review. They are holding our money hostage when they are not providing the service expected. We also paid almost $2800 for room and food which we obviously won't receive if we are taking at home zoom classes. They also declined to refund those costs. I am beyond disappointed that this is how they would treat customers during this unprecedented time. read more

Joffrey Ballet School in NYC is NOT doing the right thing! Shame on them!!!They charged us over $3,500 for a two week summer intensive (in person) musical theatre program and now have moved it to a zoom class instead and are refusing to refund us the $1900 we paid for housing, meal plan, chaperone fees and theatre tickets/performance fees, ALL of which we are not getting any value for since the classes have been moved online. I am shocked that they think this is ok to do to people, especially at a time like this during a world pandemic. They respond to my many emails and calls with either silence or form letters stating that they give no refunds for any reason. Seriously, no refunds, even if they are the ones who cancelled what I paid for...what they sold me! How do they ever expect to have return customers when they treat us this way. I will never pay them another penny for my Dancer daughter and I wouldn't dream of ever signing up my younger daughter for their programs (who is also a dancer). They are acting so shady with their business practices...how do they expect to keep a business running with this kind of treatment to their customers. They are only offering a credit for next summer, but my daughter actually wants to take the zoom classes this year because she had her heart set on the musicals they are featuring. However, I think the right thing for them to do is refund me for the items we are not getting. Dealing with them from day one has felt shady. They bait and switch and lure you in with standard costs and then charge you all sorts of extra fees that you weren't expecting to pay, including charging YOU the credit card service fees! Update: Some Good News...my daughter has already taken the online zoom version of the two weeks of musical theatre and it was actually really great. The school did a fantastic job and she really had a great time. It was informative, challenging, organized and a lot of fun. In addition, they have committed to sending me refunds for most of the items we paid for but are not getting now in an online format. However, it's been over a month since they promised the refunds and I have not received them yet. More to come...I hope! read more

I've been coming to Joffrey for a few months now, and have loved my time here. Joffrey has provided a wonderful environment for me to learn ballet as an adult and Friday class is something I look forward to every week. All of the instructors give really helpful corrections and I feel that the class emphasizes technical learning in addition to fun in class. Background: I was a total beginner when I started. Apart from a year of ballet when I was five and later a year of lyrical around age eight, I've never danced. Day one of class, all I knew were the 5 basic foot positions of ballet. If you're totally new to ballet like I was, be prepared for a slightly steep learning curve--most people in the class (60%+) are regulars so the class will move along at a brisk pace. However, instructors are super welcoming and it's totally expected that you'll be following some of the other dancers in the beginning. For Complete Beginners: I believe they offer a recurring 2-4 week "total beginner" workshop that will take you through all of the basics if you're completely new to ballet. However, it's totally OK to jump straight in if you do some basic supplemental research online. Stephanie's class, in my experience, is the best for beginners. She makes sure to learn everybody's names and will spend extra time explaining exercises. Attire: Make sure you have ballet shoes (required). For clothing, it's helpful to wear something tight/form fitting so that the instructors can see and correct alignment issues. Outfits range the gamut from leotards and tights to yoga tights and a t-shirt. Facilities: The space is definitely old, so be prepared for your old school locker rooms. Nothing fussy, but everything is functional both inside and outside of the studios. tldr; Joffrey provides a fantastic environment if you're interested in learning ballet, no matter your beginning skill level. I've been struggling to communicate with them. They often take weeks to respond. Most of the responses are curt border lining on rude. I've filed with the BBB and the NY Attorney General's office, the 2nd got a brief response stating I'd get a partial refund, well sort of, that was 3 weeks ago. They're still not responding again. Joffery is still stating they are not refunding my money on our private email thread. However on my public BBB complaint they are claiming to be refunding housing and meals and credit for classes. I have not been even offered any refund at all in anyway. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt that perhaps one hand was not talking to the other and informed the staff taking care of my email what the BBB reply was. I received a prompt email stating they are not issuing a refund. They are becoming more and more dishonest by the day. All I can say is stay clear. My daughter was accepted to a few we decided on contemporary ballet in San Francisco. Had 2000cdn . We went for the physical that is required and found out my daughter is quite ill and drs wouldn't sign forms . Contacted Joffrey said they would only give us 40percent back . It's ridiculous they require a medical to attend and she didn't pass also the fact that she is desperately ill and they won't refund money is appalling g to say the least they say cause they would be out money well they were told3mths before start and coincidently program was full so they got paid twice for same spot. They are just in it for cash, and they grossly charge for everything no other dance intensive fees are as high as there's . You should be ashamed!!!! read more

Went to an adult beginner class earlier this week. While I enjoyed the actual class, I was really disappointed with the school, especially after having read so many great things online. First of all, the school is small and not well kept. The receptionists are not friendly and and quite curt. The dressing room is a joke. Not only is it ridiculously small, but it was hands-down the grossest changing/bathroom area I've been to in a long time. It also reeked of mildew or mold, and I genuinely could not find a clean place to stand or put my things. How disgusting it was makes me not want to go back to the studio again, which is a shame, because the actual class was good. The dance studio floor wasn't clean either. That being said, the class itself was fantastic. The instructor was great, and despite the class size, I felt like I was getting my technique corrected. I was amazed how he can watch 30 students all individually all at the same time and give one-on-one attention to every dancer! If the facilities were better, I'd bump up my rating to 5 stars, but as is, I'm not sure I'll be back even though the class was amazing. read more

Last year, I had an insatiable desire to put back on my ballet slippers. Now, by "put back on," I mean, I can't even fit into those suckers anymore because the last time I wore them I was 13. ... Flashback: Mom: "That's right you have to choose." Me: "I can't!" Mom: "Oh you can... and you will." Me: "Okay, okay. I guess I'll stick with soccer and tennis and give up dance." And that was the end of ballet... and jazz... and tap... and well, you get the picture, I was obviously spreading my athletic abilities thin back then. Fast forward to last year. I enter Capezio and immediately wonder why I'm not anorexic. After dropping way too much money on leotards, leg warmers, new slippers and all things ballet, I headed over to Joffrey to make sure I could get into their adult classes. Joffrey is the premiere school for adults who want to continue their dance studies without going all Black Swan. Well, there are some instructors here that could definitely make you go Black Swan, but I avoid them like the Black Swan plague. I love Jessica's classes. I go on Tuesdays, Thursdays and the occasional Saturday when she teaches. If you know your positions, how to do a simple pirouette and can touch your toes, you can take her Beginner Ballet classes. Looking forward to graduating into Ballet II and Pointe. But, don't worry, I won't be starving myself anytime soon! read more

3.5 stars rounded up. I bought an Amazing Local Deal for 5 classes ($40) because I'd heard good things about JBS. It's one of the oldest schools in NY. The studio spaces are beautiful- nice floor, large spaces, and lots of mirrors. Be sure that you remember to bring your ballet shoes (some people wear socks but I think this would make you slip). A leotard is not necessary, just regular workout gear is fine but if you have one, why not go all out. As it's been said, the instruction here is a bit advanced. I've only taken the beginner classes (which are 1 1/2 hours and taught pretty much everyday Monday-Sat.. no classes Sun) . I took one semester of ballet in college but I am pretty uncoordinated and the steps are taught really quickly. If you have NO ballet experience, you may have a hard time keeping up as they call out the positions. The overall pace of the class moves fast to. The basic structure is: - Warm up abs exercises -Barre work - Stretching - Learning a simple-moderate combination where the class dances in 2 groups - Learning a combination that moves across the floor in groups of 4-5 people - Jumps (as a group) -Jumps across the floor (with 4-5 people). You just need to remember to relax and have fun, and not to worry if you mess stuff up. Some instructors are very good about hashing home that message- such as jessica. She is very sweet and encouraging, but one of the more advanced teachers. I also took Sidney's classes and she is a bit easier and more basic. The night thing about the classes is that there is a live pianist who plays along. :) Makes you feel all classy and pretty. It's relaxing also. One major con is that the classes get pretty big as they dont' cap the number yet... it's like 60 people at times! (Sat at noon being the most crowded, Thurs at 6:45 the least crowded, in my experience) As for signing up, you don't need to register online, you just go 15 min before class and drop in. I think a regular class (without the deal) is $17. Don't even bother emailing them because they suck about responding. If you have questions, call the front desk. Also, registration is on the 3rd floor even though the lobby says JBS is on the 5th floor; it's 3-5 floors. (studios upstairs). The locker rooms are really small and cramped and the bathroom is also gross but whatever. You can't win 'em all. I used my 5 class card to also try the Core Conditioning classes with Alison. she's very sweet and encouraging. The class is actually a full body workout (with cardio as we do jumping jacks/run around the studio). You don't need ballet gear for this- in fact, you do it barefoot mostly (no shoes). The class really reminded me of physique 57- you do thigh/butt work at the barre, then abs work on the floor. Then isometrics/the cardio I mentioned above. It's a pretty challenging class and a good workout. I see a lot of kids here so they must have a decent children's program (in addition to adults). The only other ballet school I've tried in NYC is the Ballet Arts at City Center on W. 56th street and I thought JBS was better. read more

I took ballet up until I was 12, and then took a semester in college. I never went en pointe, but I enjoy ballet very much and thought I'd take a class here to get back into it. I was looking for a beginner's class, as I know I need to really work on getting back into my form. I found the Joffrey website and the class on Mondays/Wednesday advertised for BEGINNERS or PEOPLE WITH NO BALLET EXPERIENCE AT ALL, seemed perfect. I'm not a beginner, but I know I'm out of shape and out of practice. It was cheap, $15 a class, so I figured I'd try it and if it was too slow for me, I'd go to the Intermediate Beginners on Tues/Thurs. The website states it is a drop in class, and you can come and go as you please, meaning that you can miss for a month and will be ok. I went with a friend who has the same amount of experience as me. This is why it gets 3 stars only: This is NOT a class for beginners, and CERTAINLY not for anyone who has no experience whatsoever. I felt pitifully awful for the 3 or 4 people who had no experience and didn't know what a 5th position or a tendu was. Because they were lost, and I really wasn't far behind. The teacher led us through a nice warm up, and then went straight for complicated interchanges with 15 or more steps. It was hard to follow, hard to see, and hard to do - I haven't had a class in about 10 years and I really wanted to work on my form and gradually move forward, not practice jumps immediately. (Although, I did get a "nice job" from the teacher on my jumps, thank goodness) I have to say, it was a very strenuous workout that I was not prepared for. The room is boiling and no windows were opened. We were all glistening with sweat. Someone asked the teacher (who was firm but nice) about how advanced the class was, and she said the class had been meeting since September and it had progressed from there and this was the point the class was at. It would have been nice if the website would have reflected this, I definitely would not have dropped in on a class that had been going on since September progressively if I had known that. I really think they need to fix the advertising on their website to reflect class start dates. I can't say I'll go back here any time soon - I am going to seek another class that is really for beginners and focuses on form. But for a good workout, definitely try it. You will need ballet shoes however as they are required for the class. Leotards weren't required and most people weren't wearing them. read more

I took Jessica's class, and man was it perplexing. For an hour and a half we did nothing but random drills. There was absolutely no emphasis on proper technique, and I felt like Jessica put little to no thought into her instruction (if you can call it that). My suggestion is to take your money elsewhere. I've been attending adult beginner classes at Joffrey for about a year, and highly recommend the school. Yes, the building is old, but it's friendlier than other studios. Stephanie Godino and Gisela Quinteros are my favorite teachers. Stephanie has a wonderful dry sense of humor and makes the class fun. Gisela is so graceful and clearly cares about her students. She's a bit soft spoken though, so I try to stand near the front of the class to make sure I can hear her. Sidney Lowenthal is more traditional and no-nonsense. You'll get exactly the same class every time. Desiree Errico is one of the clearest instructors and gives very smart tips to help students develop a strong foundation. However, I've realized over time that she's chatty and friendly (on a first name basis) with *only* the white students. I'm not sure if she's aware of this, but it gives the class a bit of an "inside club" feeling. I've never felt this way with other teachers. The live pianists are incredible. Many of them have a great sense of humor and add their own personality to the class. They really make the class worth every penny. read more

Do I feel fat in a leotard? Yes. Is there something still comforting about ballet, live classical piano, tights and a leotard? Yes. I have taken the basic ballet class 3 times now, with two different instructors. Both of the instructors have been friendly, fun and not too scary! The classes are $15 for an hour and half. I think it's well worth it. I'm going to buy a 10 class card now since it saves a bit. I love it there! As a side note, I noticed that someone refers to the Beginner class as for people with no ballet experience at all, but it's actually the BASIC class for people who have had no experience. I took ballet as a kid for approximately 10 years and the Basic class is still good enough for me for starting out. read more

Since college, I've struggled to find a ballet teacher who actually cares about how his/her students are dancing. Most teachers I've encountered don't give corrections and have an I'm-just-here-for-the-paycheck 'tude. Not Dariusz. He's really watching everyone, he'll stop the combination if everyone's effing up, and he yells (in a humorous way!) when he sees someone doing something atrocious. His knowledge of ballet is impeccable--he's not some modern dancer moonlighting as a ballet teacher. He's the real deal. I know what the reviewer below me means about the ranking--when you come to the center, he puts people into lines, and the lines do correspond roughly with ability. For me, it's highly motivating, but I can see how it would irk some. I'm deeply in love with the crumbling, unrenovated, late-70s vibe of the building. The studios are boiling hot, but that's good for your flexibility. And the oversized windows look out on Sixth Ave and 10th Street, which makes you feel like you're in a Woody Allen movie. In short, I truly adore the Joffrey. read more

A couple of years ago, while feeling bored with the gym in genera -- I never understood its appeal -- and petrified at the thought of catching bedbugs at the lock room or fungus at the swimming pool, I asked a friend for exercise suggestions. Knowing that I enjoyed going to the ballets at Lincoln Center, he recommended that I give adult ballet a try. I am glad he suggested it. Luckily, the well-known Joffrey Ballet School is close to where I live and they offer an extensive array of classes to adults, especially for absolute beginners like me. I started with the Adult Beginner Workshop with Jessica and continued thereafter with weekly drop-in classes (or sometimes twice a week). Over the course of a year and a half (since November 2014), I had classes with four different teachers, (Jessica, Lara, Stephanie and Annastasia), depending on the day of the week. They've all been wonderful, supportive and encouraging. You'll quickly notice that they all have different teaching styles and focuses. If I had more time, I would take drop-in classes with 2 or 3 different teachers every week, as some of the students seem to do. But given my busy schedule (outside work, ha!), I am only able to attend Thursday evening classes. At $15 per session which lasts one and a half hours, the fees for the drop-in classes are quite reasonable. read more

Good classes are always crowded to the point you can't get in if you arrived right before they start. This is a review for a one-time visit for drop-in adult beginner classes. Signed up online on Mindbody. Came in about 15 min before the class and told the woman at the lobby office window that I wanted to check in for the 12 pm class and she checked me in and explained where the locker rooms and classes were. They have a waiting area / lobby with hot+cold water, vending machines, and benches. There were adequate locker rooms / bathrooms for amount of people there, at least when we were visiting (a Saturday in July). You can bring your own lock and use a locker but it seems like most people just take there stuff into the studios and stash them at the side of the room. Took the 12:00 pm Beginner II class with Christopher Lafleche and the 2:00 pm Beginner I class with Desiree Errico. Classes seemed appropriate for solid beginner level (you know all the basic steps (basic positions for arms and legs, what turnout means, what pointed feet means, tendus, degages, rond de james, grand battement, pas de chat, glissade, assemble, etc) and have a basic sense of musicality) are already but aren't doing anything too fast). There were only about 7 or 8 people in the Beginner II class which meant that the teacher could go around and give everyone individual corrections which was nice. Both teachers definitely knew what they were doing, were friendly, cheerful, and gave general feedback. There was a live pianist for both classes who was great (he even had extra percussion instruments - he was a one-man-band!). The Beginner I class was pretty crowded so there were not many individual corrections. There were a few people in the Beginner I class who I think would have benefited from being redirected to an intro class (they had a hard time following or doing very basic things like plies and tendus, and/or were dressed inappropriately for class in non-stretchy/athletic clothing like a wool mini pencil skirt which was impeding them from participating fully) but overall this did not impede ability of any individual to participate. Overall I had a very good experience and if I was in the neighborhood again I would definitely come back for classes. However if I was in another neighborhood I don't think I'd go out of my way to come here over visiting another studio. read more

I absolutely love this studio. The classes fill up quickly but at $15/class, who can blame anyone? Be sure to check the schedule as classes close up during certain periods of the semester for breaks. There are classes for all types of levels-- beginners, former ballet dancers, advanced en pointe dancers... There are plenty sessions daily. Mostly everyone wears a leotard with tights and ballet shoes are a must. Some people wear yoga pants and a sports bra or tight fitting top. You want to be comfortable with tight clothing as you move around a lot and complete floor exercises. The views of 6th av along with the live piano playing is truly a pleasure. You will feel your body become leaner in just a few weeks and notice your posture will improve drastically. I highly recommend this studio. read more

Getting settled in Manhattan for over two years, I decided it was time to slip back in my dance shoes and get a new exercise routine. I was super excited when I discovered the adult program at Joffrey Ballet School. Like any kid spent their entire childhood in leotards dreamed to be the center of the stage, Joffrey was like a dream to me. Hadn't taken a single ballet class for 18 years, I was a bit nervous when I went there on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I had no idea how advanced the class would be considering my not-barely-flexible-enough-to-be-a-dancer body. Surprisingly, the Beginner I that I took was quite easy to drop in. Thank God my childhood trainings were not completely wasted. I still remembered basic steps and movements and the arrangement of the 1.5 hour class was very smooth and enjoyable. The instructor was nice and encouraging, though she didn't spend much time correcting our postures at all. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone who wants to get back to ballet. I think I will take a couple more beginner I classes to get my body used to the movement and hopefully move on to the level 2 and get more focused training. read more

I may be biased because I used to train here as a child, but I think Joffrey is the best studio in the city! There is always a live pianist, and the instructors are all very professional. Stephanie and Desiree are my favorites. Other students are also friendlier than those at Steps or Peridance. I only wish they offered open classes during the day, as well! read more

Getting back into ballet as an adult was very hard especially with sciatica. After trying classes around the city that I could use to ease back in, I only found one that was truly wonderful. That's Dena's class at the Joffrey Ballet School. Her basic 2 class is wonderful and she's such a great instructor. She always reminds us that we are adults and that if we feel something hurting, or just don't feel like turning, we can stop. There is no pressure to out perform classmates. It is a comfortable and enjoyable class. Dena is very personable and approachable. I love her class! Another great class is the Core Syngergy class. It incorporates cardio and the Lotte-barre method. It is an hour of insane muscle sculpting. Highly recommended!! read more

What is happening with the June summer intensive in NY? You appear to think it's acceptable to make the classes online now instead of in person and not offer refunds. It is totally unprofessional and down right greedy to not fully refund the payments. My daughter was excited and I pre-paid for 2 weeks in June in NYC. You can't possibly say online is the same. If it is the same, what does it say about the class in person? This is unethical. This isn't a case of giving us (the parents) a credit for next year as it's a different situation. How can you plan that far ahead. It's got to be a full refund and if we want to pay for some online classes we can. I wonder what the NY governor would think about this being done in his city in this pandemic? Boston Ballet is offering full refunds but asks if you would consider a donation which is a great option. read more

The core synergy conditioning class is a no frills but tough workout. They own a couple of floors of this building, which is old. I ended up wandering a few areas until I found a group of people who looked young but not like ballerinas and followed them into class. I removed my shoes and socks and left them outside the classroom. The teacher, Alison, was super adorable but really tough. Very encouraging. The workout was basically barre and pilates and including a decent amount of push ups and some jogging in circles. The classroom was small for us (maybe like 20-25 of us in class) but it seems that on Thursdays they have the bigger studio as she mentioned. We did some workouts on the barre towards the end of class. Great class but definitely don't expect the same boutique studio experience. I did love that when she turned off the sound system all we heard was the piano playing in the background, through the walls from the other studio next door. read more

My daughter is a J&C trainee at Joffrey Ballet School... she has such a great school with great faculty which brings her to a new level in both artistic and technical ways... i definitely recommend Joffrey Ballet and the Jazz & Contemporary trainee program. read more

Still going here...love Joffrey even more... They have class cards now in 10 classes/50/100 denominations which is cool, but they charge you a slightly higher price if you pay with a credit card. Either way, I love this place. read more

This is a review for the Adult classes. I really enjoy taking class here. The studios are old but large, and I think this school has some of the best pianists in the city for Adult classes (including Andrei). I am at a very basic level, so I take the Beginner classes. Sidney, Andrei, and Stephanie all teach with great knowledge and also emphasize the "dancing" portion of the equation, which can get lost elsewhere with so much focus on "doing it right." The classes can get crowded but are extremely enjoyable. The studios look out right onto 6th avenue, where the glimpses of the hustle and bustle can be an amusing contrast to the beautiful music as you calmly do your barre work. read more

I always wanted to do ballet and venture...... Dena is wonderful for basic since she breaks down all the steps and corrects you as you do it. Out of all the instructor I highly recommed her if you haven't had ballet in a while or always wanted to learn. Each class is $15 is going up starting Sept to $17 but you can always get the card classes that will save you couple bucks... It's worth your money and time! read more

My daughter attended the program in Georgia. We had never done a sleep-away intensive before, so I was very happy with the experience. She is 11, so I liked that this was on at the university and not in a big city. Classes were a good size and not too crowded. We were very happy with her instructors and the level of training that she received. We will be returning this year. I would recommend this program. read more

My review is based on their horrible dysfunctional business policies and fraudulent charges to my account. Last year, I signed up my son for a summer intensive program online. Not 45 minutes later did we realize that we had a schdule conflict from when he would be starting college. I had prepaid $793. Joffrey refused to refund any of it. I had to file a dispute with my bank which of course I won, because no services were performed yet. As a matter of fact, it was 3 months before anything was going to happen. Joffrey also has all kinds of ridiculous charges like a house monitor that monitors the kids (even though mine was 18) to their times they check in at nght and charge $110 per week for that besides all of the other things and ridiculous charges they have. I don't know how good the school is, but the customer relations and admin staff, ABSOLUTELY SUCK! So now, to top it off...Today I see a charge on my credit card 1YEAR LATER, for $793. They changed their name a little and re-billed me FRAUDULENTLY!. I did not sign him up at all for school this year. Now I have to go through the same dispute process again to get the charges reversed. STAY AWAY!!! There are plenty of good schools to go to! read more
