Dr. John Sarkaria is a wonderful doctor but his front office staff named Elba is very inefficient with attitude problems. Dr. Sarkaria has no portal. They do not accept electronic messages from the pharmacy and insist for paper faxes. Those faxes when sent get lost. I would like to start off my saying that I switched doctors because I always felt rushed at his doctors appointments not just that but I felt I was brushed off so many times because "I am young". To find out 2017 and 2020 I had two blood test done with positives and not once did he question this and just now I am realizing this and as a young person you trust your doctor, I am currently 29 years old and I'm finally getting to the bottom of my health , it would've been nice if he would've mentioned this 7 years ago I would be in a much better place right now. This clown cost me my life,I told him my father died of prostate cancer and most likely I will get the same thing and all he had to do was to monitor my bloodwork and he still missed my elevated psa. Dr. John is my primary care doctor. I just randomly picked him from a list of Aetna doc's near me. For two years he and the staff have been great. Like most guys I don't like seeing a medical person until I really need to and ignoring a problem doesn't work. This time, I was In pain and unable to use my left hand, Later found out I pulled ligaments in my wrist handling my heavy luggage on a trip. That first phone call to an office makes all the difference. Fortunately his staff has been fairly good at the scheduling and billing part, When I am in the waiting room I hear little time wasting banter like I once heard in some other medical office."I can't take that call, I'm too upset; my boyfriend just texted me and said we need to date other people..." And it's a relief that they really like the doctor, too. Not cool when medical and wellness working relationships are not well. Once out of the waiting room and into the treatment room, they take your blood pressure and your weight. After the Thanksgiving to Christmas binging and work schedule, my weight was much more than I thought. I wanted to laugh and cry. Fortunately, no comments just the results and instructions. And the four times I've been here I've never waited more than 5 minutes for the Dr. to see me. He has great listening skills, and I found out other patients feel the same in some medical evaluation websites. He delivers clear, to the point diagnosis and treatment options. His specialty is internal medicine, but is an athlete so I feel confident when I have regular and sports injury issues as well. I was in and out of there in an hour. Beside the initial diagnosis, I got an x-ray also, which was developed in 5 minutes that he reviewed with me. Now I know what I've got to do to heal quickly and get back to normal. At least I feel enlightened and optimistic. read more

Dr. You were assigned to me as a primary care physician. I've never visited your office before, or to my knowledge have ever made an appointment before. When I tried to make an appointment, your staff said I had "no showed" for a previous appointment, and began to lecture me about how a "No show" will cost me $75. Dr Sarkaria has been seeing my mother who is now 94 years old for the last 2 years..he seemed easy going enough in the beginning and listened to our concerns..this was until we needed him to fill out Family Leave and State disability papers for me to take care of my mother at home who needed total care.i filled out all the information we needed to on our end but he refused to finish his part..i turned in the papers on a Friday and checked a couple of times with Alba at the front desk to see if he finished the papers..the folloeing wednesfay i called to check and Alba said he wouldn't fill them out until I filled in his portion except for the diagnosis codes. I said, I filled out what we were supposed to and he is the doctor who should fill out his portion..she said he wasn't going to do it and I said then tell me what questions they are and you fill them in .and she said she wouldn't do it either..i couldn't believe this treament..we took mom in to see him after a hospital stay and he never acknowledged her, didn't say anything to her or check her and was extremely rude to my husband and i..my husband picked ip the unfinished papers and the staff Alba and Carla were very rude. a I would never go back to see him again.i will also be notifing the insurance and St Joseph's of the treatment we have received..my mother is on hospice now and dying and he never once asked about her..if you go to him, good luck! read more

Dr. John Sarkaria has been my doctor for over 10 years. As I read the reviews others have written, I am surprised. Dr. Sarkaria is like no other. He believes in trying alternatives instead of medication. I personally hate doctors that just want to medicate the patient. I want to find out what is wrong and fix the problem not the symptoms. He has referred me to great specialist that have helped my with allergies. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Sarkaria for annual check ups for 16 years. None of the doctors I've had in the past provided me with the same level of comfort that he has. He showed a genuine concern for my health. Not once did he rush through an exam or fail to answer a concern. He always careful to make sure that I fully understood the answer. I would love to say this office staff was as nice as the Dr.,but I cannot. Every single time I call this office I get put off, the run around and they are VERY RUDE! Why? The receptionist has the absolute worst attitude I have heard in a very long time. She should actually work at the DMV not in an office where people don't feel well. When I need a refill of medication or lab results sent to another office everything is a huge frustrating challenge from the rude hello to the moment the receptionist HUNG UP ON ME! Thank goodness when I called back Alba took my call and helped get the info I needed in order to find out the medication I need. I have already called my insurance company to request a change of Dr's. I pay for insurance and I can choose another office where I am treated with dignity and respect. It is too bad, the Dr. actually is great but the front office is the front line and I will not go through that every time I need to deal with them. If you are burned out in the medical industry, maybe you should find another line of work and save everyone else the headache. read more

First and foremost: absolutely the WORST front desk staff I've ever encountered. After switching to new insurance at the start of the year, I had blindly selected this office because they were accepting new patients. Making an appointment was easy enough, so I thought, "Wow, I definitely made a good choice." My appointment was for 1:30 p.m. on a Friday afternoon. Come day of my first appointment, I show up 15 minutes prior, as requested. The door to the office was locked. No sign was displayed with hours or when the office staff would return. So I call their phone number. No answer. The automated message states the office is closed from noon to 2 p.m. every day for lunch. I sat outside and waited until 2 p.m. to try again. Door opens and I go to the front desk. I was confused, maybe I miss-wrote my appointment time? The lady let me know, "Yes! You were supposed to be here at 1:30 p.m." I let her know that the door was locked and when I called no one answered. Her response: "Well we had to take a later lunch. Oh, and I opened the door at 1:27 p.m." I politely let her know that I showed up, as requested, at 1:15 p.m. Needless to say, she could not have cared less that, even though I showed up on time, I would have to make another appointment on the next available day. That "The Doctor leaves early on Friday's and you missed your appointment." ... The next available appointment being the following Friday for the same time. I asked "If I were to make it for the same time, how would I ensure to be let into the office?" Her wonderful customer-service response (*sarcasm*) "Well, you could have just knocked..." Terrible. I was very pleased with Dr.Sarkaria's treatment when it came to my 11 year old son. I brought him in as a cash pt since his primary doctor couldn't see him soon, my son has been struggling with Asthma since he was about 1 year old and has been on different asthma meds since, I went over my sons medications with Dr.Sarkaria and he suggested we cut down on inhalers (and use as needed) and place him two different allergy medications, I was a little apprehensive since this had never been suggested by his primary doctor, but Dr.Sarkaria is VERY knowledgeable and decided to give it a try and happy to report my son has not had an asthma attack in over a year (come to find out his attacks were allergy triggered). Dr. Sarkaria was recommended by a family friend and has provided primary care for my 3 sons (19, 20, 22) and me for several years now. From the beginning, our experience with Dr. Sarkaria and his office staff has been outstanding. Even though his office seems quite busy, Dr. Sarkaria takes time with each of us during visits and isn't in a hurry to get to the next patient. Dr. Sarkaria listens well, asks lots of questions and is proactively engaged in our physical and emotional health. HANDS DOWN--- the most amazing internist I have ran into thus far! He is very thorough with every patient that he interacts with. You are not just another file or number, but an actual patient. He will spend the time you need with him and listen. Every exam that he does is thorough, he checks the lab work as they come in and sends out a personal summary of the lab report-- not JUST the numbers and standards!, he cross checks other specialties to see if there is anything they might have missed and GENUINELY cares! Went for my first appt and was told my insurance card was not updated, so I called them to update it. This took 20 minutes and I handed the insurance coordinator on the phone to the secretary to verify my coverage. She said the card is not right (although the account was), so Dr Sarkaria could not see me. (In point of fact these services could be paid for in cash.) She said "Now I am twenty minutes late for the appt and cannot be seen and something about lunch." That is a very tight schedule, if true. One wonders whether the good doctor is as punctual. An added aggravant was that I had just been locked up on 5 for an hour. Bottom line: the gatekeeper was not helpful at all. By all rights, I should have been seen. Whether Sarkaria is a good doctor or not is unknown, as there is no way I'm going back to him ... or his nasty office. Often, doctor's offices send the paperwork upon making the appointment, so that all of this insurance stuff is settled. read more

I've never had a problem with Dr. Sarkaria, in fact, he is probably one of the best Dr's I have ever been assigned to! He is knowledgeable, easy going, and listens to my concerns. The reason I am giving him 1 star is because of my experience today. I went in for an appointment I scheduled about a week ago, and the usual polite receptionist (Alba) was not there, in her absence was a lady I have never met before. When she called me up, immediately, she began accusing me of an unpaid balance from 2 years ago, a balance that I was aware of and had already contacted my insurance company to get it taken care of. For some odd reason, the insurance company had never paid the claim that the Dr's office had sent to them. She began to scold me like a 10 year old child! I literally just stood there and listened to her lecture! I understand that doctors do not work for free, and I am not someone that does not pay my debts, but this was no way to talk to patients! I told her, "Well let me get in touch with the insurance company so I can get you guys paid for that consultation" and she immediately responded "You are not understanding! I'm the biller here, and it's been almost 2 years, we're not getting money from the insurance company!" At that point I just decided to walk away, I could no longer handle her rudeness. As I was walking away, I think she came to her census and realized how poor her customer service skills were and stopped me at the door, and asked "Did you still want to see the doctor?" After an argument and a verbal shellacking like that, who would still want to see the doctor?? Who would even return???? I walked out and called the insurance company, the rep told me that my coverage was still active on the date of that claim, but someone in their claims dept "dropped the ball" and a payment was never sent out to the doctor. For anybody reading this review, Dr. Sarkaria is a great physician, however, I will not be returning due to this incident! read more

He is a terrible doctor!!! Don't go to him. My PC which I love, referred my Mom to him. He did not do a thorough exam and almost killed my Mom with medications. He has terrible bed side manner. I find that he takes time to explain things to me in a language I understand. He never talks done to me and he makes me feel he really cares about my health.
