This place is fast and delicious. They make the best breakfast in Jersey City. The way they package the food shows they care.

On a Saturday evening there was quite a long wait for the patio but the 3 picnic tables outside were free and clear...perfect! Delicious food Great cocktails Kindest staff that brought water out for our pup All good things. We got the apple guac to start and loved that it was like a sweeter, chuckier guacamole. It was served with plantain chips and great for a hotter night app. For my main, I got the Grain Bowl. So good, so filling and I had plenty left over for lunch the next day. It had quinoa, tofu, chickpeas, yams, and a green goddess dressing. This will officially be added to the rotation of lunch/dinner spot. Cannot wait to come back.

The sides were Caesar salad and fries. It was delicious, the server was quick and attentive making sure we were happy with our meal. The presentation of the food was superb it was a nice stop and I am sure I'll be back at some point. Seemed to be a nice dive bar in the heights not many places like this in the area.

Fire & Oak in Jersey City remains one of the more sophisticated spots in the area. The ambiance is…read moreperfect--moody, upscale, and consistently chic--making it a great choice for a high-end night out. The Food: The star of the night was the Spicy Rigatoni. The creamy Calabrian pepper tomato sauce delivers a legitimate, vibrant heat that doesn't hold back. Breaking into the Italian burrata is essential; the creamy center beautifully tempers the spice, while the micro basil adds a nice hit of freshness. We also started with the truffle fries, which were executed perfectly--crispy, aromatic, and a total highlight. The Service: While the food was top-tier, the service wasn't great which is why I deducted 2 whole stars. I ordered a ginger ale that never made it to the table, yet it still appeared on our final bill - not cool. It's a small detail, but at this level of dining and price point, you expect those things to be caught. Also, the service overall was pretty slow which was disappointing. Verdict: Even with the minor billing oversight, the culinary execution is elite. If you're a fan of bold, spicy pasta and a great atmosphere, this is still a JC must-visit. Just double-check your tab!

Great views of NYC, especially from the outdoor seats. We sat in the dining room, and the service was likely a bit off because of the large crowds and people visiting to watch the FIFA world cup soccer games. While the service was less than 100%, the breezed short ribs were amazing! If I lived in the area, I think I could order those short ribs everyday. Pricing is very reasonable for the area, even with the "included gratuity" of 18% that they threw on the bill, probably because of all the international travelers coming into watch soccer. I understood this was something they probably had to do specifically during the world cup. We paid about $70 per person all in, we were drinking soft drinks, so the bar can push the total bill much higher very quickly. Overall, I would certainly return to this restaurant for great views, amazing food, and a reasonable value.

It's unfortunate I have to do this but the service my partner received at this establishment was so…read moreblatantly disrespectful that I have to put it out there for others who may have experienced the same. Upon entering Tros my partner waited to order something and the person working (the manager who he later learned was named Andres-?) was on the phone at the counter. The manager then proceeds to "shoo" him away by waving his hand. Who does that? Is he a child? Is this what a decent establishment does to potential customers? Perhaps he was busy (there was no one else in the restaurant but a police officer, who we later learned was lieutenant Rodriguez, waiting for his food). So my partner said "I'm going to use the restroom" and the manager rudely responds "don't you read the sign? Restrooms are for customers only." This exchange escalated to a place it simply didn't need to go if only the "manager" exhibited any customer service. He was uncouth and disgusting. And I believe his behavior was dismissive and disrespectful because of my partner's appearance. Will we ever return? Absolutely not. No one needs what appears to be extremely mediocre Greek food by what we can see in the pictures, especially when this is the way a manager behaves. Gross attitude, gross management.

There's no rush, nor should there be, you're with family, vibing to good music and eating great food. Everything there is prepared fresh and from scratch and you can taste it in every bite. I most recently did the brunch and the shrimp and grits were fantastic, plated beautifully and good portions. The sides are super affordable and allow for an array of options. My daughter loves the banana bread, I love the bacon and hash browns. This is also BYOB, which keeps a longer meal affordable. Service is nice, and they kind of keep to themselves as it's more about the food and the folks you're with. We've been 4 times and never had a bad experience, a great addition to the heights.

What a warm, friendly, neighborhood mom 'n' pop restaurant--exactly the kind I love to support. While our food took a bit of time to arrive, it was clearly made from scratch with TLC. You could practically taste it in every bite. Throw in the fact that menu is mostly tried-and-true American comfort food, and you've got a winning combination for an easy dinner that won't break the bank. Our housemade Fish Cakes were perfectly fried, stuffed with fish, and felt like something you'd eat from a stand in downtown Kingston, Jamaica. The Four Cheese Mac 'n' Cheese--at just $10--was a large enough portion for two peoples, made with thinner than traditional macaroni noodles and a lovely broiled top that imparted a smokey char. But the star of the show was undoubtedly the namesake burger. It's one of the best burgers I've had in a long, long time. The grass-fed beef was so perfectly cooked--all the hearty meat flavor you could want and full of succulent jus. The other accompaniments were placed perfectly within the rich, toasted brioche bun, making every bite feel like the culinary equivalent of Jon Bon Jovi singing in your mouth (or insert other American musical icon of your choice). Even the fries were stellar, like Richie Sambora crooning harmony next to Jon.

This is a happy hour menu-only review…read more First, I want to say that staff here are absolutely perfect. Everyone we encountered as so nice, so welcoming, and so accommodating. No notes there. Management, if you're reading this, your staff is great. Now, onto the happy hour. Non-beer options are slim pickings on the HH menu. I wish they had a cocktail or two that wasn't a mimosa. Draft beers were very well priced and my Sapporo did hit. The bulgogi nachos were pretty good. The fried chicken was fine - nice crunch but almost zero flavor. They had a tiny side of honey mustard for dipping, but otherwise, pretty bland. The appetizer sampler was basic, to be honest. I had the chicken dumplings, fries, and cheese sticks. The mozz sticks were, just like the fried chicken, bland. Actually, everything in the sampler platter was bland. I would be back for a beer and the nachos, and I definitely want to come back and try their donkatsu.

The atmosphere is modern and inviting, and they offer a happy hour until 6pm, which is a great bonus. The food is decent overall. I ordered the spicy seafood tofu soup, but they didn't ask for my preferred spice level, and it came out a bit too spicy for me. The cucumber salad was good--more like cucumbers with Hamas, but the flavor worked well. We also ordered a sampler. I enjoyed the spring rolls and cheese sticks, but the chicken tenders were a bit dry. On the plus side, they have a nice bar area that's great for hanging out. Overall, it's a convenient neighborhood spot with a good vibe, even if there's some room for improvement in the food and service.
