This was my first time at Ed&Mary's and wanted to check this spot out for dinner. Walked in and it had an old sports bar vibe. Got the spinach dip with chips which surprised me... I expected some warm cheese spinach dip and it was anything like that . Then for wings which were great order the 1lb Carolina gold barbecue. The wings were very good, I enjoyed them. Then we got a chicken sandwich and chicken tenders. The fries were way too salty. The service was okay the bartender's attention was with the bar they just had one person working the bar and being a waiter. I've been here twice now, and unfortunately, I haven't been particularly impressed either time. On my first visit, I ordered the buffalo cauliflower, which I found overly sauced and it just didn't hit the mark. During my second visit, the experience was again underwhelming. Despite ordering very simple dishes, we ended up waiting well over an hour for our food, which made the meal feel more frustrating than enjoyable. I will give them credit for being dog-friendly on the patio as that's always appreciated. But overall, the food and service haven't been enough to bring me back a third time. read more

We came in today to leave a flyer for the event we're holding and the staff was so nice! She was super friendly and offered us water. We ended up having brunch here and it did not disappoint! The food was delicious, we got the crispy chicken sandwich and the Cesar salad from the brunch menu. The chicken had a Smokey seasoning, with the perfect amount of heat. The bun the had toasted cheese, bacon and pickles too. Now for the salad- very good portion size, the croutons were seasoned similarly to the chicken, and we also added grilled chicken to ours. It was fresh and I recommend. This place is EXTREMELY dog friendly- there were about 6 pups out on the patio, even dog treats and water replenishment. There's seating inside and out. We went for dinner and sat inside. They did not like that we didn't order any alcohol with our meal. The food wasn't bad, but not great either. I asked for some ice with my water and the server insisted I should be happy with chilled water, then told me to get up and get the ice myself. I continue to love this place! Their burgers are so big and delicious. They put plenty of fresh veggies on them. The fries on the side were good. I liked the way they were cooked this time and the salt on them. Last time my friend got the fries I didn't like them. The wait service here is always so friendly. They had a block party on Saturday with some other vendors and music and it was nice to sit outside and enjoy a burger. Also they gave the wrong size of a drink we ordered. This place is a beautiful neighborhood-nook! You gotta check it out! MY partner and I visited and were delighted to find an expansive outdoor seating section, with even more room inside. The inside of the restaurant is tastefully decorated. It feels like a quaint, cozy pub. The bar room has terraced table-seating, as well as a long bar with plenty of seats. There are many drink options, including THC options! Very happy to see this variety. It took a bit to have our drink order taken, but I liken it to the work flow of the establishment. It seemed the servers were collectively working the whole restaurant. I am okay with this, I just wish they were more regular about checking in with tables, especially when they don't know who previously visited the table, and when. We ordered the burrata as a little snack before we continued our walk. The toast and cheese were delicious, but the fig was a bit odd. I think it may look nicer, taste better, and potentially be more cost-effective to serve a small portion of fig jam with the burrata. The solid pieces of fig were just unappetizing, and a disrupting texture in the dish. Nonetheless, we enjoyed ourselves. The service here is great! Went on Super Bowl Sunday and figured it would be packed but went anyway.. it was but not too crowded. Rachel helped us and was super friendly about finding us an area to stand and eat. We ended up asking if we could go out and eat and she said of course and then she went in and turned the tv on for us so we could watch the Super Bowl outside if we wanted. It was sooooo sweet cus we figured we'd eat outside and maybe go back in to watch the game. Anyway, she went above and beyond multiple times and she was soooo friendly. It seems like so many locals go here and people know each other.. love it cus it really seems like it's part of the community and everyone is so kind. Love this place! We're Brooklyn transplants who are slowly discovering spots in Jersey City and we highly recommend the food and drinks here. they're waitstaff are so nice, know the menu item quality and have great personalities. Even though we don't have pets, this restaurant is very doggy friendly!! It's a nice and quiet spot also with great outdoor dining space. I had the chicken quesadilla and it was just right. Because we could not score actual tickets to the Taylor Swift Concert during Memorial Day weekend, we decided to go a Taylor Swift themed brunch at Ed & Mary's that weekend. They went all out with t swift drinks, meals, balloons, and a cardboard cutout of hers truly. This was my first time at Ed & Mary's - everyone working there was super friendly. It's not a big place inside, but they have a good amount of outdoor seating. They are super dog friendly and many people showed up with their pups. It's very casual but the drinks and food were really good. I can understand why this is a popular local spot for folks in the Hamilton Park area. Ed and Mary's is my kind of relaxed bar in Jersey City. I have visited a few times to play darts and always have a good time. The outdoor seating is great, especially if you have a dog, all the staff are so friendly and bring water to your table. On my last visit I had the caprese sandwich and really enjoyed it. The bread, cheese, pesto, tomato proportions were spot on and the good quality ciabatta bread really made the sandwich stand out. This is such a common vegetarian option on menus, it is nice to see it done really well! Service was also great, our server was so nice and welcoming. We don't live in Jersey City but happened to be there on a failed JC Penny photo shoot lol. Anyway it was the perfect fall day and decent, pretty walk to Ed & Mary's from the mall. The inside was a bit too loud for my taste that morning, but the neighborhood was beautiful and the staff let us sit at the tables outside. A little heavy on the dressing but still good cuz I'm trying to unbig this here back of mine. My dad don't care about his back so he got the Texas nachos. Stopped by on a Friday afternoon for lunch. 3 of us. Sat outside where their are 4 picnics like tables, which are all under a canopy. Also outside are 6 to 7 round small 2-3 person metal tables. Inside is a bar and whatvlooked like a few tables. We ordered a few beers and a freshly made unsweetened tea. Sandwiches were 2 KFC Sandos, fried chicken, cucumber, coleslaw, and kim-chi aioli on a sesame brioche bun along with one Cubano, 15hr slow cooked pork, ham, swiss, pickles and mustard on ciabatta. Along with the sandwiches, we had 2 orders of french fries, which was more rhan enough for the 3 of us. Sandwiches were all tasty and large in size. Service was slow at the beginning but after that service was very good. Drinks and food came to about $60. A very extensive beer list for the humans, along with water bowls for the puppies. Stumbled upon this wonderful little restaurant after taking our pup to the park. They have outside seating which was awesome! We were immediately greeted by our waitress Erin. She brought our dog a treat and greeted him as well. We happened to stop in during brunch so we ordered a few things off the menu. We got the cauliflower, the Brussel sprouts, chicken wings, and a quesadilla. Everything was packed with flavor. The Brussel sprouts were buttery and crunchy. The cauliflower was drizzled with buffalo sauce and just perfect. The chicken wings were on the smaller side but sooo delicious!! They were kind enough to allow us to have half Buffalo sauce and have thai chili sauce on the wings. We had to order another round, they were so tasty! Finally, the quesadilla was packed with chicken and cheese with a light crunch. To drink we had froses, definitely perfect for a hot summer day. All in all, we absolutely loved this restaurant. I was lured here with several of my girlfriends last week, and was completely taken back by how aggressive the owner Ed was towards the local patrons at the bar. He was clearly belligerent, and picking fights with anyone that would talk to him and his high noon and white claw. at one point, he was very aggressive towards one of my girlfriends: making fun of her outfit, her appearance and physical looks etc. she was so taken back, that she thought it was a joke....but then one of bartenders even had to hold him back because he began to lunge towards her! It was chaotic, and insane. We just took our new adopted puppy to brunch for the first time and this was the perfect location. It's very dog-friendly and is in a beautiful area with a welcoming atmosphere. The drink and food prices are very reasonable compared to the city and the service and food came quickly. The chicken sandwich I order was delicious with a crispy bread and great salad as the side. My wife's tacos had a really good chipotle mayo but the eggs were too brown and it was missing some toppings, which is the only reason why we gave it a 4 instead of 5. Bad service, warm beer, poor food. Probably the worst place you could find yourself. But hey, don't take my word for it. Here's an exact quote from one of their servers: "If you are expecting good service then this is not your place. We're just a bar with cheap drinks with intellectually limited staff." Yes, the drinks are cheap but the beer from the tap was warm. We went on a Wednesday for trivia and got there about an hour before so we could grab a seat and eat. We ordered mozzarella sticks and they were still cold in the middle (how could you mess that up, like really?). It was a pretty hot day and they didn't have the air on so it was disgusting hot inside. Combine that with warm beer and it was just a miserable experience.
