This is such a cute little park right behind the EHT Community Center. There are so many things for…read morethe kids and young adults, which totally justifies the big taxes the residents of the town pay. I get to visit this very fine town more than a few times a year since my brother and his family moved here in mid 2000s. And this park is definitely a highlight for his kids to be out and about and do things that is so quintessential summer! Here are some of the key highlights: - Big kid's playground, fully mulched, with all the swings and the castle of slides. The grounds clearly are well taken care of and everything looks so pretty - There are big soccer fields right behind the kids' playground. I almost mistook it for a mini golf course; the field was so green and well maintained and I believe there are more than 3 of them; and one is even lighted for night matches. - There is an amphitheater bang in the middle of the 35 acres expanse where they have bands come in and play during the summer and there are scheduled movie screenings as well. - 4 Tennis courts. So neat and clean. i was really impressed to see the quality of the nets and the hard court coats. Finally, the access roads - in and out of the park, connecting the main streets are so well maintained, with enough parking for families to come in and enjoy great times. We did not call it by name, we called it Castle park, by the library, near the school. Oh, thank goodness, for the love of God!, that library turned out to be one of the best parts. The children loved the children's book section, no kidding? right, lol. Yes, highly recommended of chaperone experience for the little ones, hey, enjoying the park for them, eh, okay it is enjoyable for adults, okay, fine! You got me, lol. The interaction of genuine heart of children sometimes results in adults caring to share the basic human need of thankful communication. One "face to face" treasure of social experience. Justly peaceful, and it is patrolled not only by parents, there are venues of the township, like the library, and the police are not long, had that been necessary. Never had I've seen the police needed to be notified to go there. Thank you Egg Harbor Twp, I used to live there. Good today of days. Of course, Creator given rights & dignity only God provides, ie, the three charters of freedom, The Declaration of Independence, The Preamble and The Ten Bill of Right, in the years of our Lord, 1776-1991. Tons of great businesses to patronize before and after your beach visit as well. A 6.5 hour drive from Rochester and a really good option if you're just looking for a speedy getaway.

Also they don't harass you to death for beach tags in my experience- many times the entrances to the beach aren't staffed with beach inspectors. Picnicking is not allowed and that is the reason the seagulls aren't out of control. The shops are great! One of my new fave shops is "The Well Dressed Olive". Get here early and don't miss out on the "Bread and Cheese Cupboard" piggy buns or theee "to die for" pepperoni tangy savory bread- cash only (booooo!!!) lots of fun at Hoy's and some junky type souvenirs that are fun n frivolous for all. Don't miss their happening t shirt and sweat shirt collection boasting the Stone Harbor name. Bathrooms are near the water tower in the shopping district. Things in Stone Harbor tend to cost a lot more. Be prepared. This area is crawling with money, so you are going to spend money! The boardwalk has plenty of fun shops to stop into, and restaurants to visit. The boardwalk itself is a little bit on the trashy side, but nothing too bad. A lot of the walkway has very mismatched wood, as updates have taken place at different times. It would be sketchy to walk around here as a single female, but we felt fine walking together in broad daylight.

Cape May County Park North (aka Cameron Wildlife Sanctuary) is apparently a hot secret, because…read moreonly one other car was in the parking lot when I was there on a weekday in the summer. This is a BEAUTIFUL park / wildlife refuge. Trails wind everywhere through the woods, to hammock clearings, scenic spots with benches to sit, a few ponds stocked with ripe lilly pads, picnic areas, a park office, etc. This park is extremely well maintained, with no litter anywhere. Yes, DOGS ARE ALLOWED here. Despite contrary info I got from calling the parks office, there are signs stating the rules for dogs to visit the property, dog waste stations with bags, etc. Well behaved, leashed dogs, are permitted. This is a wildlife sanctuary, so it is lucky they have recently chosen to allow this. It's less than a 10 minute walk to the first pond, and that alone is worth the trip. There are little islands in the pond, with benches on them. Really enchanting. The history of this property is that in the late 19th C, sand was mined here to make cement for Ocean City, as well as to make South Jersey Glass. The Great Depression ended production here, and the landowners filled the sand quarries with water, and stocked them for their own leisure fishing. The property was willed to the county in 1988 to be made into a park. In the summer, you MUST wear bug repellent. Even with repellent, I was covered with mosquitoes if I stopped walking for a few seconds. So just beware and be prepared. While picnicking would be serene here, it is probably best to do it in the months when mosquitoes aren't around. Also, gate locks at 4pm sharp!

I went at around noon and I overheard the gentleman say that it just cleared out from the morning rush. I was greeted nicely. I had the coffee and a bowl of crab/lobster bisque. I order a ham and cheese on white bread to go, along with a small bag of chips and diet soda. Very charming place inside. It's been around for 67 years. The sandwich was good. They also have plenty of tackle and bait for the fishermen. Oh...As I was leaving, the gentleman offered to fill my water bottle for free since I was on my bike. Real nice.

This is a very pretty park in Millville along the Maurice River. There are two playgrounds, one at…read moreeither entrance. Note that you cannot drive all the way through from one entrance to another, but each has its own parking lot. The park is not huge, like for hiking or biking, but it does allow for a short walk across the pond bridge, and across the river bridge to the park across the river (Captain Joseph Buck Park), where there is a paved trail along the river. The playground at the City Park Drive entrance is older and while it still works, there is only one small climbing structure and the swings, etc. are not as exciting as the other area at the Brandriff entrance. A Mister Softee ice cream truck visited at the Brandriff entrance while we were there, and a number of local kids were there playing. They were super friendly and sweet. Usually I love to rate any greenspace high stars, but my negatives here are really upsetting, and can't go ignored. There were dangerous people behaving oddly just across the river at the foot of the bridge. It appeared illegal deals or illegal substance use was going down right over the bridge. Needless to say, this is absolutely unacceptable around children, and the adults on the playground were wary and nervous as well. Who knows how dangerous that activity can get, but as soon as we saw why other parents were nervous, we immediately left. Absolutely disgusting in broad daylight, with children around, and where are the cops? On the way out, there was broken glass everywhere from someone breaking all the (formerly nice) lampposts, and it looked like they'd been shot at or punctured with a rock, so as to darken the area for nefarious night activity. Such a shame. They've put a lot of money and planning into these dual parks, and the locals really need it. Three stars for the civic efforts, and for those sweet kids and their terrified mothers, who are doing their best keeping safe there to play.
