Contrary to other reviews on this site, I could't have asked for a better experience. My moving time was scheduled between 9 am and 10 am and the moving team arrived as expected. My belongings were loaded up and the team was ready to go within 15 minutes of pulling up! The team was extremely professional, courteous and friendly. My furniture, which included a tempurpedic bed, mechanical platform, and a bedroom and living room set including a couch was handled with complete care even while they carried the furniture up 3 flights of winding stairs. Including driving time, the entire job was finished in less than 90 minutes for a one bedroom. There are several individuals showing pictures of damaged furniture however when I scheduled my move, I did ask if the movers would need me to have my furniture wrapped and covered or if it was a service they did. She told me I could do it myself or I could have them do it but I needed to let her know so that she could include that in the order. I would advise anyone who is getting their furniture moved by any moving company to wrap their own furniture that way you can rest assured that you have protected your furniture. At the end of the day, you need to protect your investments. When the team arrived they were already prepared to wrap and cover my furniture but I had already did it so that also saved me time and money. read more

Hiring movers is let's face it - a roll of the dice...Think about it. Who in their right mind becomes a mover? It's hard work that is unrelenting. Day in and day out. It might pay pretty good but man oh man is is it tough. The work alone is brutal, couple that with neurotic, stressed out clientele with high expectations...Forget about it. Speaking of crazy clientele - that was me. However here's what I did when the crew arrived; First I showed them around and told them what was of highest priority. I made sure they understood that these items here must be padded and shrinked wrapped prior to being taken from the house. Secondly I told them to take their time - I'd rather pay extra now and the job be done right than rush them and end up with a drawn out claims process. Third I was upfront with the crew about tipping. I told them that I would be tipping them somewhere in the $20-$60 neighborhood each and the tip would be in direct correlation to their performance. Lo and behold, they did an OUTSTANDING job. They were efficient, careful and loaded the truck with expertise. No damage whatsoever and the overall time was better than I anticipated. Bottom line, is DON'T BE CHEAP and BE TRANSPARENT. Make sure when you hire movers that they know what you expect and that their diligence will be additionally rewarded. read more

EDIT: It turns out there was a technical glitch and I was never put on their calendar. After John apologized to me profusely, he sent me two very nice movers, free of charge. They helped unload the rest of the container. Jason in particular was very friendly and really helped lift my spirits in a move where one thing has gone wrong after the next. I've been exhausted from dealing with crisis after crisis. They unloaded everything quickly and professionally. I've just been kind of laughing this whole entire move because nothing has worked out the way I expected it to, whether it's permits or even being able to get a moving company in the first place (yes even UHaul was booked coming from the Bay Area). It didn't matter, something always went wrong. This time the wrong has been righted. :) PAST REVIEW I would not recommend these movers. I suspect they double book moves. We were scheduled for a simple PODS container unload at 8AM that probably would have taken only an hour. I had to call them at 9AM to see where they were. That's when they gave me an estimate of before 1PM sometime. Got a call at 11AM saying they were almost done and would be heading to me soon. More than 5 hours later at 1PM, they never arrived. We cancelled and are hoping to get our money back (if we do, I will add a star to this review) read more

Due to mold in my apt, I had to move immediately. John and his staff worked on a holiday, which I felt terrible about, but am very thankful for. His team packed up my apt with great care and was quick about moving me to the next unit. Nothing was broken or damaged and everyone was very friendly. I am very thankful for them giving up the holiday. I would use them again in a heartbeat and recommend them easily to friends/co-workers that are looking for top-notch moving company. It was an excellent/smooth process. They showed up with boxes/packing material and as one guy was moving the furniture and already boxed stuff, the other was packing. They took great care with packing my kitchen (which for a single person, I have kitchen stuff for a family of 6). I also had 2 full closets of clothes that they were gentle with and boxed nicely. It was a very positive experience. Moving is stressful, moreso when you have mold poisoning and John's team went out of their way to make sure I didn't have to do anything on the packing/moving end. They were very efficient with un-loading and getting my stuff up to my new place. When my lease is up in 10 months, I will for sure be calling on John again. read more

Moving is always stressful. Working with a company that listens, is responsive and ensures quality service greatly reduces the stress. We hired John Ferguson to pack, load, store and deliver to two different locations just over 18,000 lbs of household goods. A complicated move. We are a military family that has moved often and have seen the best and the worst of this industry. Our move with John Ferguson was hands down the best move we've ever had. Our pack and load took a bit longer than usual as the crew was smaller than we've had in the past. They communicated well with us -- showing up when they said they would and making adjustments when we felt things needed to be done differently. Usually when our household goods have gone into storage we've seen a painful amount of damage. This time we only had almost no damage! Such a relief! Our unload day went very smoothly and the team stayed until we were satisfied with every aspect. At every turn I felt John Ferguson went above and beyond to ensure we were given top quality service. I looked around at several movers who had good reviews and had a difficult time locating anyone for a local move. I came across John Ferguson and decided to get a quote. There were a couple of bad reviews but nothing like other local movers. Bad reviews aren't necessarily a bad thing as long as they aren't a trend. I got a reasonable quote so booked them for this past Monday. I am so glad we did! Adrian and Alonso were amazing. They showed up right on time and got right to work. We had moved most of the light boxes so only left heavy and bulky items for the moving truck. Adrian and Alonso wrapped everything they carried out in heavy moving blankets to ensure nothing was scratched or damaged. They were friendly and engaging. They even helped box a flat screen tv we were intending to carry out ourselves. In the end, everything arrived scratch free and under budget. I would totally hire John Ferguson again and have already recommended them to people we know who are moving in the next couple months. An absolutely great experience! read more

This is the second time we have used the services of John Ferguson Moving & Storage. This time, we needed to move some items from storage to our new home, one of which was a much cherished upright piano. Ferguson's crew met us at the storage unit on time and quickly loaded the items onto their truck, making sure to take extra care of the piano and other pieces of furniture. When we got to our home, they unloaded the truck and stacked the items neatly in our garage. Before we could move the piano into the house, we needed to move a couple of pieces of furniture, which the guys did so graciously - even removing an item from upstairs and replacing it with another. When it came time to move the piano, one of the guys grabbed a towel and began dusting off the piano before moving it into the house. It took all three of the guys to move that piano, and they made it look so effortless. The service was beyond professional. I am very happy with the service. I will definitely recommend them and absolutely use them again. They knew what they were doing and none of my items were damaged. The price was very adequate for us. They were very impressive and quick. They protected my items as they were their own no matter if they were old or used. Also the company responded very quickly to my need of having to change my moving date earlier. They placed my items exactly where i wanted them. They were amazing. They even brought boxes for me. My husband travels out of town very often, so we are constantly moving so i would definitely used them again. My husband was so pleased that he even recorded their number in his phone right away, speaks highly of them, and recommends them. They were so quick that they moved everything within a hour or two. I would recommend for them to do more promotion and pass out flyers because they are a great company. John is a very polite man. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! I used them three years ago and they were great. This time they damaged furniture, lost items, lied, argued among themselves for hours and overall did a terrible job. They destroyed my waveless waterbed mattress and severly damaged the upholstered arm of my rocker/recliner. They broke a drawer front off an oak dresser, broke leveling feet off bookcases and removed leveling feet from my bar because they had lost one of the three levelers. They had no tools with them. Had to borrow ours. Overall it was a horrible experience which I will have to relive every day because I cannot afford to replace the damaged furniture. DO NOT USE THEM, especially if John Ferguson tells you that he is sending his best crew, headed by Dennis. We have tried calling John Ferguson at least four times since 8/26 and have left messages. He is choosing not to contact us, I guess because he knows that his people did a terrible job read more

I originally ordered a pack & move. That information was not given to the move team and they arrived unprepared to pack anything (no boxes or packing supplies). As credit to the move team, they tried their best to make up for the mistake, but it was not much they could do, considering they did not have the correct materials. A one day move, turned into a two day move in which I was charged two different prices and it became a complete inconvenience. As I unpacked my items, I found that several keepsakes were broken. This is disheartening as these items were purchased on overseas trips and cannot be found in America. I have a very expensive, marble dining table that was cracked during the move. Another item that will be hard and costly to replace. This move was stressful and has cost more than the two different prices I was charged. read more

I want to thank the people at John Ferguson Moving for making our move across the state of Texas one of the easiest things about our entire relocation. Thank you to Fries and his crew for an excellent job at packing -- nothing got broken!!! Thank you Miguel and Angel for getting it unloaded in one day! This was a huge move that required a 55' trailer, they didn't miss a thing. All the people who work there were very attentive to our situation when the sale of our house in El Paso didn't close on time and we had to delay our travels. When we had our belongings delivered in New Mexico it was only two guys. One of the guys was in more of a hurry to get out of there then anything. We found that many of the boxes that had been marked this side up and been banged around and dented. The legs to an old dresser that had been in my wife's family for generations our grandfather clock was damaged as well as some small kitchen appliances and entertainment center was damaged. I called and was told someone would get back to me but they never did. I also paid for the insurance but have not been able to make contact with them at all either. I am guessing that John Ferguson is no longer there because this was the worst move I have ever had with them. read more

The last week of June 2012, I called John's Upper Valley Moving and spoke with John. We discussed what services I needed, the day of the moving and the price. As agreed, the movers, John's employees, Rocky and Mike, arrived promptly at my daughter's house, brought the furniture to my house and did what I had requested. I couldn't have been happier with their quality of work. Not only were they skilled at moving, but most, most pleasant and polite. I definitely will call upon them again, if I ever need those services. Therefore, I recommend them highly. I used John Ferguson Moving & Storage on June 30, 2019 which happens to be a Sunday. I had 3 movers arrive, Sergio, Ricardo and Sanchez. They were awesome and made sure that my move went smoothly and that i was happy with everything. Besides my move being on a Sunday it was one the hottest days in El Paso, Texas. 101 degrees!! Whew!! However I had Sergio, Ricardo and Sanchez helping me and my mother through this stressful time (my elderly mother 88, was having to move). I needed to take my piano across the country and just wanted someone to load it on a UHaul trailer for me. These guys gave me an excellent price. They arrived on time and quickly got the piano loaded. Then they spent a lot of time getting it secured so it wouldn't be bounced around on the trip. They even loaded a few other boxes for me and made sure the load was balanced. All the while they were very polite and professional. I have no doubt that the piano will arrive in fine shape and my grandson will have many years of fun learning to play it. Our team of movers lead by Miguel did an excellent job moving us and we would highly recommend John Ferguson!! They took great care to wrap everything and nothing was damaged. They were all so friendly and patient with our two boys running around. Our move took a little more than twice as long as the office staff quoted, so that would be my only suggestion, to better estimate the time required based on the inventory list so we could've been better prepared for the time and cost. Robert, Sergio and Beto were the best. They first called to make sure it was convenient for them to deliver our furniture at the specified time. Then they introduced themselves with a handshake, which was refreshing. They were so very cautious with our belongings and determined to place the furniture exactly where I wanted it. This wasn't just a job to them, it was important and they were conscientious about doing it well. This is the second time I have met Robert and a cheerful soul he is. Great experience! As a family that moved 26 times during our military life, we have definitely experienced very good and very bad. John Ferguson is the best moving company we have seen. The packers ( Raul, Carlos, Dan, & Ricardo) were well trained, hard working and really did take pride in their work. After a cross country trip (West TX. to East TN), the shipment arrived within 10 days in excellent condition.
