This was at the first of May and I needed to be out of my apartment at the end of July. This should have been plenty of time. Not so. When I initiated the funds wire, I again asked Clayton in Mesa about delivery. Again, I was assured that they were 6-8 weeks out. I transferred the funds to Clayton. A couple of days later I picked out the colors and AGAIN ASKED about delivery, and was told 6 to 8 weeks. Then the delays and excuses began. Long story short, my home that was to be delivered by the end of July was delivered at the end of August, costing me another month of rent and expenses I did not want to spend. There was NO SUPPORT for installation, and in fact the names of the installers Clayton gave me did not return my calls or made an excuse and said they would get back to me, which they never did. So I had to scramble to find an installer without Clayton's assistance. And because Clayton could not give me a firm delivery date... no delivery date was ever met... I am now having to work around a busy installer's schedule, because Clayton would NEVER give honest delivery information. It is now September 9. I may be able to move in this week if the installation team can get it together. No, I would not deal with Clayton again. They tell you what you want to hear and leave you hanging. They seem concerned with the sale and not the actual service. Also, promised communication from Clayton did not happen. I ALWAYS had to call and track someone down, and when I did I got the feeling that me asking about my home was an "inconvenience." If you do use Clayton, bring a recording device. Better yet, bring an attorney. I have a feeling that's the only way you will get honest information from Clayton Homes.
