My first week living in the city after escaping the dull clutches of Iowa I stumbled onto this store one night while out in Wicker Park. Although the finite details of this chance encounter are a bit sketchy, I managed to take a picture of a pair of grey Gables on display in the window with my phone and file it under "Fluevog - Your next shoes". The very next day I ventured back to Wicker Park and scored my first pair of Fl'ogs. In the seven months since I've expanded my collection to five raising Fluebogs the ranks of personal vises to three (just after ice cream but before scotch). Recently I took my original pair of Fl'ogs back to the store for a biopsy. I hadn't taken the best care of them and they were beginning to reflect my neglect. Rebecca, the gracious sales rep, introduced me to a couple of products to help restore and preserve my precious kicks. She even demonstrated how to use them and suggested I get a shoe trees to help preserve the shoe's shape. They really are located in a super cool building. It may be a touch too big for the merchandise but whatever who cares, because it makes such an impact and adds such character to a street that seems to be getting over-run with "normal". The store was spotless inside and everything was where it should be. The staff was really friendly and eager to help, and seemed like people I would be friends with for sure if I lived in Chicago. i haven't been to a fluevog since my college days in Boston. back then, they were all swirlie angel wings. So, basically unwearable. I read the Yelp reviews and decided this was the place to get my new shoes. I haven't gotten new shoes in almost 3 years & my bum knee dictates I get quality. i love the styling & the comfort. they just feel like well-made shoes. The shoes here are pretty expensive but they are really good quality. I've never seen shoes like I've seen here, different thread patterns on boots and different shapes of heels and toes, they are really unusual. I love Fluevog! They have really amazing shoes. Their styles are so unique and are very comfortable on the whole. Their styles are retro with a modern slant. I always get a ton compliments on my shoes. They last pretty long-not as long as some of my other shoes. They are usually good for like 2-3 years depending on how hard you are on them. The sad thing is that they make a style one year, and then they don't make it anymore. So once I wear out my shoes (which has happened a few times) I can't replace them. There is always a new pair of shoes I want from this place, so it is not such a big problem. The staff is really nice too. They are very laid back, and they really listen to you. read more

The store is striking from the outside and even more so inside. Every shoe offered is a work of art, and has the nerve to be comfortable as well. The shoes are pricey but in my opinion are worth the investment. There is very smooth coordination between the online shopping experience and the in-store experience; it is possible to purchase shoes online and pick them up from the store itself. When I recently visited to make a purchase of an item I had viewed online, I had a positive experience with the staff here, who were friendly and helpful. The product of John Fluevog is fantastic but the customer service to AWFUL. I ordered two pairs of shoes that were on sale that totaled $282.22. The shoes were shipped from the Chicago location and I never received the shoes. Two months later, I have not received a refund or the shoes. I was told by the store manager that The company would not do anything because I had selected to not have a signature, but is the default setting so now Its my fault and I am out of almost $300. I have never been given the run around like I have with this company and will never support them again. read more

I am so happy that they were both there again. My friends and I were there for a good hour-ish looking for the perfect pair of new shoes.....and in my case, I left with two perfect pairs!!! My first time purchasing Fluevog, so I may be the oddball here. Newbies please beware: sizing is off and if you purchase from Fluevog themselves online on their website and need to return the shoes, you cannot return them to the local store in your city. You have to return them to the store that shipped them to you. They do not ship from a warehouse and they do not do shipping between stores. Wait...what!? Here's my story: I wanted a pair of Coffee Ristrettos and wound up ordering them online as the local Chicago store didn't have any in stock in the color I wanted. After seeing the reviews on the Fluevog sizing, I called the local store and they said I could come in to try on sizes in a similar style just to be safe. Great perfect........no problem. I went in and tried on Breva...I wear a size 9 in regular shoes....the 9 1/2 was snug with the pointed toe.....the 10 fit better.....the 10 1/2 was too big. I ordered the size 10 online, when I submitted the order is said the shoes would be coming from the New York store....I guess they were out and the order was shipped to me from the Seattle store. Fine no worries....just give me my beautiful shoes! Well I received the shoes, and even with me walking around the house in them, the fit with the pointed toe is not going to work for me. No biggie, I figured I would just return them to the Fluevog here in Chicago, get a store credit (they were on sale) and be on my merry way. Um...nope. I was told that I need to return the shoes to the Seattle store, the store that shipped them to me. When I advised that I live in Chicago and that meant that I'd be paying shipping twice for a returned item when I can just as easily return them to the local store here in my city, I was told that was their policy. Now maybe I overlooked this policy when I pushed the order button on my computer, but this seems a bit outlandish. Why I have to return merchandise to another Fluevog location when there is one here in my backyard doesn't make any sense. Seems like a waste of money and I'm not sure how they've been able to get away with this for so long. It probably works more traditionally if you order from endless.com or some other online retailer who sells their shoes. But if you deal with Fluevog directly, this is what you get if you need to order online and return the shoes. So that is my reason for the 1 star. Otherwise the shoe is lovely, they just won't work for me. I'm just miffed I have to pay a total of $20 shipping for the stupid things. read more

hard to justify some of the pricetags @ fluevog in the economy we have been having but there are NO OTHER HEELS that I can wear except those from this store. totally. worth. it. so funky adorable, that even a quiet, more reserved gentleman at my office actually commented on my black mini lambchops just yesterday. so many women walk around at work "click click click" with their hard heels -- i love that i can actually be an office ninja because the soles of all my fluevogs are the natural-rubber type -- so I can get another cup of coffee and no one hears me comin'. the folks working here are so nice. they share tons of advice on caring for your fluevog once you get it home, and at the end of your purchase if you ask nicely you might get a couple extra heel caps thrown in your shoebox. don't ever be intimidated by the artful appearance of the shop. the people in there have always, ever, been the nicest. no 'attititude' if you don't buy ... because they already know that you'll eventually be back ;) *hehe* I'm already going again this wkend ;) hope to see you there! read more

Best shoe store ever. Hands down. I get giddy every time I am in this store. It's not a huge shop but whenever I'm shopping here I spend over an hour just staring. My eyes are huge, my jaw drops. I feel like I need to take away one star because they fail to provide me with a towel to soak up the slobber that falls from my mouth as I drool over their beautiful shoes! I have several pairs of this man's shoes but I will never have enough. Adorable, sexy, functional, and most importantly, COMFY! Oh, I forgot to mention the staff (sorry guys!) they are amazing! I know they are sales people but they all seem so genuine. They make me feel pretty and like I'm the coolest girl in the world. They are so helpful and fun. When it came down to a pair of regular priced shoes and clearance shoes, the gal that was helping me actually told me that she liked the clearance shoes on me more than the regular price shoes! That saved me over $150! I love this store and I feel so fortunate that I live so close to one of the all too few locations they have. read more

Okay, remember Sassy Magazine from the early -mid 90's? I remember the Fluevog ads from there. I was not interested in going in...until about 1.5 years ago. They have a line- Teapot with really cute, minimal styles. I own the boots and as of today a pair of lace up heels that I love. Their shoes are made really well. Best of all- their staff is EXCELLENT. Customer service of Nordstrom proportions. Really, go in or check the styles out online- they some really good stuff! read more

My brother is a Fluevog fan, and actually ended up getting me a pair of their boots for a gift last year. I wore them for a few months- and loved them- then stored them away for the summer. When I brought them out this fall, a was pretty disappointed to see that that leather upper @ the heel was ripping away from the sole (nothing I have seen before). Seeing that this was a definite shoe defect, I took the shoes back to the Fluevog store. They took them, and even though it was after the 8 month (?) warranty period, they said they'd see what their cobbler could do. Two weeks passed. No word. Finally my boyfriend called them & they apologized and said they must have taken down the wrong phone number for me. Fair enough. About a minute after my boyfriend had called I received a call from the store manager explaining that it was indeed a strange defect, and she was looking for a replacement pair of shoes for me- she just needed a proof of purchase. To make an already long story shorter, my brother had gotten the shoes online from Zappos. That made any warranty @ the Fluevog store null and void. Which I can kind of understand since the boots were purchased through another vendor. Anyhow, Zappos ended up refunding the shoes in full (FYI Zappos is fantastic) and the Fluevog store gave me 15% off my next purchase for all my troubles. Went there today to cash in on that 15% off (with the refund $$ from Zappos). Kyle was working and was EXTREMELY helpful in my search for black boots. I am now happily perched in front of my computer wearing some beautiful new Fluevog boots. All & all, Fluevog has great shoes for a decent price- some a bit too funky for me, but I think almost anyone could find something in this store if they look. read more

You get what you pay for, and John Fluevog has the most comfortable heels I've ever stepped into. Before discovering his shoes, I abhorred the idea of heels. But the shoes from their Mini shoe family are so comfortable, even though the heels are roughly three inches tall. They've got rubber soles and accommodate wide feet, too. Their sizing can be wonky, but there's nothing wrong with buying shoes in a bigger size (that's how it usually is) if it means you're going to be comfortable. Be prepared to have people stop you on the street about your shoes. Fluevogs are that awesome. The people who work here are nice and patient, and now they have layaway. read more

I have been waiting forever to visit this location. I have been a huge Fluevog fan for years and own a lot of their shoes. We went in on a Monday after lunch - the only 2 people in the store. It was quite evident that the person working a. did not want to be there as he was b. texting on his phone the entire time c. barely acknowledged our existence the entire time we were in there d. there were more than 7 open boxes of shoes scattered about the store that he was in absolutely NO hurry to tend to e. could have possibly made had a HUGE sale with me had he paid 1 ounce of attention to me as a customer - I WAS WEARING FLUEVOG BOOTSUPON ENTERING THE STORE - HELLO! e. the store was hot and f. the music was barely audible and what you could hear sucked. SO disappointed and underwhelmed with my experience here. I thought this was supposed to be the big store in the US - my guys and gals over at the Spring St. store in NY will continue to get my business and rave reviews - they never disappoint. Beyond the store itself the brand is great- but this about the store- every person I've worked w/has always been helpful- as we speak they're repairing a button that fell off my mini zaza's and as much as I miss them, the idea a store repairs something for FREE, come on, that customer service, or quality died when big dept stores became conglomerates and bread passed 60 cents a loaf (I can hear my mom in my head saying these things)...anyway, the shoes are gorgeous- not always practical in the corporate office kind of way- but I still make it work because for me footwear ha to be comfortable and and pair of 3 inch heels I can wear ALL DAY in this city, walk, talk and play in them- and even at the end of the day walk the dog in them- will have a repeat customer- and the fact they offer layaway, which is DANGEROUS for me, is also helpful as my income was cut in half thanks to the economic downturn...but a girl and guy has to have great shoes and these are great shoes- sold by people who are nice and accommodating- which as I said before will be why I have nicer shoes than haircuts.... probably. read more
