What I understood was that he was going to dig it out and grade it, but he said that wasn't true. Had I known that was all he was going to do I would have never agreed to pay $1045 for a 7x32 gravelly, lumpy strip. Regardless, I was willing to pay for the work done, but when I pointed out that he lied about the price of materials, disposal fees, and hours worked, he still refused to adjust the price and threatened to take me to collections, so I paid him. He also refused to provide an itemized receipt. Also, he "conveniently" left out tax in the price of the estimate, so if you do decide to use him, make sure you add 10% to whatever price he quotes. Also, this thing he did, if he thought this was truly what I wanted (a non functional gravel strip) I would hope that a professional landscaper would advise me against it. Maybe say, "Hey, if you want to do it right you'll have to terrace this, grade this, etc. and that'll cost this." Instead, he found his mark (me) and found an easy payday. Afterwards I asked him, do you think this looks good? Does that look like a parking spot to you? Would you put your name on this? He pointedly did not answer those questions. Because the answer to all three of those questions is no. If you want more details, like the the screenshot of his work truck leaving at 10am but he telling me he was working until 11am, check out my text conversation with him. But again, if you do decide to use him, get it in writing, detailed, itemized, and tax included.

We had a "pot hole" that was expanding across the driveway and we were very concerned that it was going to be a large issue due to a previous situation on our property with buried stumps. Fortunately, this turned out to be a small burn pile that was easy to fill. During negotiations, Jim took the time to carefully listen to our concerns and reassured us that it would be taken care of properly. And it was! Jim explained the process in detail; we had questions about the type of asphalt i.e. size of gravel, and probably a million other things. The driveway has a 'Y' which was tricky but was perfectly done. Notice the huge cedar in picture 4 on the left - the crew was able to trim the roots and some branches and the tree actually looks better than before. Jim and his crew were accurate, friendly, funny, careful and thorough. Everything was cleaned up, the driveway is beautiful. Neighbors even commented on it, and someone asked who had done it. Lastly, we thought the quality of workmanship was fantastic and the price was in the middle of the other bids so it was good all the way around. We would definitely hire them again.

And, very importantly, he did an absolutely gorgeous job. His company is smaller, which means less overhead and, in my experience, very client-focused and driven to excellence. Labor at $100 an hr and higher in this area is EXPENSIVE!!!!!! I even had one firm quote $700! Perhaps if they were landscaping my yard and installing a patio!!!! That's insane!!!' Tod, the owner was incredibly rude towards the end. Seth the project manager was incredibly disrespectful and rude throughout the project, not fixing mistakes, not respecting our requests, etc. He lost all his workers during our project, and ended up with workers that were NOT experienced towards the end to put in our fence, you can already tell how that turned out.

I had Levy's install a retaining wall to extend the area in front of my garage and to change the…read moreslope of the driveway to direct rainwater away from my house, 3.5 years ago (Jan 2020). The sloping wall seen in these picture is the result of the contractor not compacting the backfill before installing the steps. I incorrectly assumed that a company involved with this type of work would have known to do this step. I guess they saved $100 on a compactor equipment rental on a $15k job. The fact that they didn't appear to own any of the equipment they used should have been a sign that they don't normally do this type of work. Anyway if you want the job done right, probably best to go with a competitor, oftentimes low bid is not the best value.
