    Finished back yard

Vince helped us with a full backyard renovation last October including leveling and installing new sod as well as adding a patio area. Pricing was very competitive and the project was completed quicker than we expected. Vince also helped make recommendations throughout the process which was extremely helpful in tackling our first project of this size. We are thrilled with the final result and plan to use Vince again for other landscaping projects in our front yard this Spring!

We had a positive experience with Nguyen Landscaping and Construction. The owner, Vince, was polite, helpful, and answered all of our questions patiently. We got four bids for resurfacing our driveway with concrete gravel. His pricing was very competitive. Vince was available much sooner than the other contractors, and completed the job, amazingly, in one day with just one worker assisting him. They cleared out all the grass and weeds, leveled the driveway, poured gravel and raked (and also added a drain!). It's such an improvement from the previous driveway. This material has held up well in the rain and is a good alternative for home owners on a budget. At the time of work, the company's license, insurance and bonding were all current. Always check on the WA L&I site.

Update with additional project. Very nice work! Love my new charcoal color stone and new sod. Good looking and perfect work!

Vince did a great job. He handled things very professionally and the outcome is terrific. We planned a block retaining wall with backfill, leveling and a gravel patio. He was always on time, called in advance to confirm and finished as he said he would. I was on a tight timeline as I had other trades and finish landscape coming in after completion and he delivered. He cleaned up after the dirt and gravel that was used so nothing was left on street or sidewalk and the design came out as planned. I would certainly recommend his work.

I don't leave reviews very often but I'd love to write one for Vince, I'm very happy about his service. After reviewing the reviews on Yelp, I called Vince to install fence for my backyard. I phoned a few vendors and Vince gave me the most detailed explanation and his price is the second lowest. I almost hired the guy with the lowest price, but decided to let Vince come to my house to have a look before I make the decision. After a home visit, he gave me the same price as the one he provided in the phone, and explained about it. I'm happy about his knowledge, plus the reviews on Yelp, I decided to go ahead hire him. We signed contract, have everything we've discussed recorded in writing (which I appreciate), then because it started to rain, we didn't fix a certain date but agreed that whenever it's not raining, he will come to my house to do the job (we even had that in writing). After this, we had a few text exchanges when I was at Home Depot to buy materials. Then one day he called (about 2-3 days after signing the contract) and said the next few days will be sunny and is good to start the work. He showed up to my house early in the day, he finished the fence in one day, the fence is beautiful and I love it. Then I hired him to do 2 additional jobs: paint my house and my front door. Everything then happened in the same order: discuss the price and detail, have everything recorded in writing, and instructions on how to choose and buy paints. He spent about 4 days doing those jobs. Pressure washing, Caulking, Priming, and painting. Spent each step in a day. He usually arrives at around 8-9am, and then leaves at around 4m. He spent an exceptionally long time at my house during the day of the actual painting, I believe he left at around 6pm. The painting job was excellent. Overall, I'm very happy about Vince, and I would recommend him on these characteristics: 1. profssionalism. 2. punctuality. 3. honesty. 4. communication.

Vince was very responsive after our first call and showed up at our house only a few hours later to go through our request. We agreed on price and a time for the work to be complete and they delivered high quality work on time with no hassle. Appreciated Vince giving us tips for improvements and adjustments from our original ask, and very satisfied with the work they did. Responsive, punctual, friendly and knows his craft.

Been using the nguyen landscape for years. I just recently have my house repaint by them in August 2015. They did such a wonderful job. The color of the house was exactly what I have asked for. The finishing product was beautiful. I have asked them to finished my house in a week if it is possible because I have a party coming up next weekend. To my surprised, they were able to finished it in 5 days. Everything was all done. The price that I paid was a lot less than what other companies have quote me. I am one satisfied customer. Definitely will be using them again. Great prices for the work and extremely great services.

I've used Vince now for front and back yard retaining walls and a huge patio project. The quality, speed, attention to detail, and price are all outstanding. He is a pleasure to work with and he actually has a pretty amazing design eye. Can not recommend enough

75 to 80 for fence on uneven ground. Hard work!
    L C.

Vince, his dad and uncle, built an awesome fence for us. The ground was not level, there were trees and stumps to navigate around. They removed brush and debris along the fence line. It was not an easy job. I wanted a solid fence to keep my dogs, and foster dogs in. The fence goes to the ground and he also put a green mesh at the bottom as a blocker. We are very pleased with the work they did, and the time it took them to do it. We would recommend them and use them again.

Our assigned estimator Kimball came by for the initial walk through on July 3rd. We walked the property and I pointed out areas that we wanted cleared and bark added to suppress new growth. He left us with a video of him walking the property and shortly thereafter we had an estimate. My wife and I reviewed it, and wanted to see what it would cost to add landscaping fabric and rocks to some of the areas on the initial estimate. I responded to Kimball and he asked for a Google image of the home with the areas we wanted the work done marked. I then sent him the requested materials via a color coded aerial image. Kimball then asked to come out for a second look to make sure his measurements were correct. I was unable to accompany him for that walk, but he did do the checkup. We had a second open ended estimate shortly thereafter showing what the added rocks and fabric would run per square yard. We then decided on just doing bark (simplest install) - no landscaping fabric or rocks, but in all of the same areas marked on the aerial photo. Kimball's final estimate included a breakdown of what 4 yards, 6 yards, 8 yards or 10 yards bark would cost to procure and install. He told me that they would start at 6 yards with our property per his assessment, and if more were needed, they would order the additional amount day of the job. 7/25/26. The day of the job. Lee's arrived, I walked the grounds with the foreman and they got to work. Late in the day, I got a call from Kimball saying that the 6 cubic yards of bark he'd ordered wasn't enough to cover everything and that they needed another 2 cubic yards to the tune of several hundred dollars to complete all areas we wanted covered. I agreed to the up charge and Lee's crew completed the job. About 10 days went by, and our very nice looking yard started to sprout weeds all over the place. Naturally, I was expecting to see obvious weed growth here and there pop up, but this seemed like a lot. Regardless, I got to work pulling the weeds every 3-4 days or so, added some more bagged bark I purchased from Carpenitos here and there, and as I tackled each section of the yard on various days. Then, they exploded. By the 6th week, we were overrun and I couldn't keep up. I did some checking, and found that for successful weed suppression, you need at least 3-4 inches of bark coverage to prevent light from reaching the newly cleared topsoil. Lee's quote stated they they lay down "at least 2-3 inches" of bark - not the gold standard 3-4 inches, but fairly adequate. So, I got out there with a yardstick and started measuring. Low and behold, most of the front and back yard had no more than 1/2 an inch to 1.5 inches bark coverage. I then photo'd the explosion of overgrowth and sent it to Lee's general email with a concerned message attached. Kimball replied to the message, but he refused to acknowledge any error had been made on his part or Lees in terms of the estimated coverage vs. completed work. Ultimately, he refused to remedy the situation without charging us thousands of dollars more. We went back and forth multiple times via email, and he would not budge. He also refused to connect me to a senior manager or owner - eg: a 3rd party in the company whom could objectively review the situation, stating that he was a manager and partial owner and in charge of our estimate. We were charged over $3200.00 after tax for the job. It likely will cost us thousands of additional dollars to remedy the overgrowth resultant of Lee's error for which they refuse to acknowledge or accept responsibility for. I'm personally kinda shocked considering their reputation and long standing place in the community. We used their services for lawn mowing and occasional yard work in Seattle many years ago without issue. My how times have changed.

Vans Landscape to the rescue! Summarizing for those that…read moredon't like to read a lot - My experience with Van and his team were great! Van was clear in communication - we accomplished a lot via text messaging; they were fast in execution and implementation and amazing in clean up. I can easily, and heartily, recommend and refer Vans Landscape (vanslandscape.org)! About my tag line - I'm not exaggerating when I lead with 'to the rescue', let me provide some details for context ... I'd previously hired a different landscaping service to do some fairly major change, cleanup and renovation work for my small space. In the end, that other landscaper's description of the work, including rendered images of what the finished product was to look like - did NOT match the result. Enter the home owner's association ... where they reminded me that what they approved and what they saw - wasn't the same. Yeah - it was so bad that multiple neighbors and the HOA 'expressed concern'. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed, discouraged, disappointed. I'd just moved into my space a couple of months ago, all the hope and optimism that comes from moving into a new space, being a new home owner and looking to fit into the community. Yikes! How much would a correction cost me? Could I trust another landscaping service? How long would it take? How much would I be fined by the HOA? I took a couple of days to organize my thoughts, and began the search for another landscaping service and came across Vans Landscape. Van scheduled a time to visit my space. He patiently listened to my situation while we walked my small property. He kindly and respectfully offered some alternative suggestions. I had been so distracted by my disappointment and frustration with the situation, that Van's suggestions 'cut through' - they are much better looking and functioning solutions. Thank you, Van - I am grateful! In the end, I'm proud of how things now look. My small rock front yard has a clean, low and gradual, retaining wall that goes up the street, an extended retaining wall along a shared property line and some new arborvitae for privacy in my back patio - resolving concerns and issues for the front and giving me some privacy on my back patio! My neighbors have remarked that 'It (the retaining wall) is beautiful', 'Looks so much better', and 'Should we add them to the list for the HOA?' (Yes!) It may sound silly, but I did feel 'rescued' - someone helped me when I genuinely needed it; resolving my real issues, improving curb appeal, and resolving my neighbors and HOA concerns. My future plans include Van's ... When I'm done, and with HOA approval, I'll be asking Van to give me an estimate on my ideas. Again, my experience with Van and his team were great. I easily recommend and refer Vans Landscape (vanslandscape.org)** for your next project or for landscape maintenance as their attention and commitment to detail was made clear. **Yeah - I listed the site as there's a few Van's Landscape sites out there; I want you to have the one I used.

Their quote was fair and competitive -- ultimately I decided to move forward with someone who came directly recommended by a friend, but Van's pricing was absolutely in line with the market and within about $100 of my lowest quote out of five different providers I interviewed. The scope included a full spring cleanup of a heavily overgrown yard, including mowing, pruning, weeding, pressure washing, bark installation, and repairing a distressed gravel pathway. Their pricing was very much on par with the other companies I met - for that large service, as well as ongoing bi-weekly yard care. They were on time, responsive via text when confirming the verbal quote and providing additional pricing details, and overall very kind, transparent, and fair throughout the process. Even though I went a different direction for this particular project, I would absolutely feel comfortable recommending them in the future. The experience was easy, professional, and very competitively priced.
