I like my hair cut and style and color. The beautician listened to and gave me exactly what I wanted.

I have only gotten my hair cut here twice, but I have really enjoyed this salon the two times I came here! I was treated at the front by the receptionist who took my jacket and offered me something to drink, I got hot tea (it was delicious, definitely get some) and the waiting area is nice and smells like the Aveda spa smell (if you've been to any Aveda salon before, you know this specific smell). I then had my hair washed, cut and styled by Jordan. She was super sweet and very kind and very pleasant to talk to. I have loved my haircut both times and definitely plan to go back again soon. The price is very decent for a women's haircut, but I think their pricing is different per stylist.. both times I left feeling very nice and pampered and very happy with the cut! read more

this is the worst fucking haircut ive ever got in my life, the front is 2 inches shorter than the back and to make it even better, at the end she told me she liked me with curtain bangs. FUCKING FUNNY SINCE I DIDNT ASK FOR FUCKING CURTAIN BANGS. their hair dye is fine but i will never go back and i suggest you never get your hair cut here. read more

I had a $50 gift card for this salon that I had been holding onto for a fun new summer haircut. I hadn't been to a salon in over 2 years and was very excited to finally be able to get out of the house and have a relaxing experience. I LOVE aveda products and have been to a few of their other salons before (Simonson's and one that used to be in eden prairie but I can't remember the name) I looked up the website the morning I was planning on going and saw they had 2 specials. If you booked with their new stylist you got 20% off. I wanted to get in same day, so was doubtful she would be available but nonetheless I called and asked for her. Yes she was booked for the day. Oh well no biggie. The other special was this oil applicant to reduce hair loss. So I asked for that and recieved it Free with my haircut. I booked with a middle of the line priced stylist ($30) and she was available right at the time I was looking for. Great I walk into the salon and was met with the most amazingly strong perm smell I have ever encountered! I used to work at a salon during highschool. It was a very small salon. I had never smelt that strong of an oder before! I nearly walked out but thought maybe I would be recieving my service far enough away that I could tollerate it. I was offered a drink but not a list of what they were offering so I just said sure a water would be great. The receptionist brought it to me in a very spotty plastic wine type goblet. I waited just a few minutes for my stylist. She is this super bubbly obnoxious teenage looking girl!!! She graduated from Aveda???? She couldn't have been over 22. She sits me down (pretty far away from the perm lady but still the smell is overwhelming) and asks what I would like to do with my hair. It was to the middle of my back and I wanted it right below my shoulders with lots of layers and long chunky bangs. I didn't think that sounded to outragious. So she takes out this paddle brush and starts making circles on my scalp. It did not feel great but she said it stimulates the scalp. Now I am used to being at Aveda salons where they massage your head. It is the most amazing massage I have every gotten... Not here. So I figure maybe it's coming later. We go into the hairwashing station. She starts to apply the oil stuff. It's not bad... kinda smells. But what gets me is the conversation. She goes on and on and on about her 8 year old nephew. To the point where I was very annoyed. She washes and conditions my hair. Never asking me how the temp of the water is and it is cold. Still no scalp massage. We head back to her station. I am used to Aveda salons giving you a comp peraphin dip while you enjoy your cut. Nope not here. So she starts to cut my hair. She takes off four inches and I can tell it is still very long. She starts to do the layers and again they are very long. I don't say anything because I figure sometimes when it dries it does get shorter. She starts to do my chunky bangs... NOTHING chunky about them. She does the twist and cut for volumn which again just doesn't feel quite right. The blowdry and some more oil is next. It's not horrible when she's done and once I pull my fingers through and fluff it a bit I do like it but it is not near what I was hoping for. Now maybe my sites were just set to high, or I it has just been that long since I was in a nice salon, but I was not impressed. They had a sign that read, like us on fb and get a free gift. So I did and she handed me a sample of their hand remedy cream and checkout. CHEESEY but thanks. So I asked the receptionist where that finishing oil is and how much it costs. She tells me it's not an aveda product so they keep it in the back. $17 for small bottle and $40 for big but they are out of the big bottle. I had some money left on my card but $17 for a non aveda product that I'm thinking Aveda probably wouldn't approve of them selling anyways is not how I want to spend the rest of my gift card, so I left. Now I know husbands don't ever notice when you get a cut but since mine knew what I was leaving the house for I pretty much figured he would say something about it... He said it looked like I had nothing done!!! That I could have done it myself!!! Yep I probably could have. I may go back to try a massage but I think I'll get a cheepo haircut next time. We went here for hair and make-up for my sister's wedding and I could not believe how terrible it was! I expected so much more from an Aveda salon. The make-up was good and I would recommend the salon for make-up only, but if you want nice wedding up-do's, stay away! Their stylists do not know how to do current up-do's. Both of my nieces had their hair done and we could have done a better job if we had done it ourselves, and it cost almost $50 each for a toddler and 6 year old. A half our before we were supposed to be at the church, I still hadn't been called back to get my hair done, and probably 6+ stylists were in the back room but when we asked if there was someone that could at least start my hair, they were all "booked", even though there was only one other customer there besides the wedding party. I should have known it would not be a great experience as my other sister went here about a week before the wedding to get a cut & color, and while the color did look nice, they girl would not listen to what my sister wanted for a cut, and she had to continue to ask her to do more until it was somewhat like what she wanted. My sister said the girl seemed very uncomfortable in doing the haircut that she wanted. I'm sure if you just want a simple haircut or color they may do a fine job, but if you want your hair or your wedding party's hair to look nice and professional for your wedding, this is not the place for you. read more

I love Aveda salons, & the products they provide. My hair stylist Courtney goes the extra mile by listening to me & then offering any counsel on my hair & style. Just recently I had 8 in. This was my first visit here. It will definitely not be my last. I had a facial and then a full color, highlights and a cut. The salon I went before this did the color way darker than I asked for and didn't cut my hair right, when I said something they just messed it up more. At JJ Aveda, Pam was awesome, she not only fixed my hair, she fixed it to exactly what I had in my head. Everyone was so nice, go here. All the other customers with other stylist looked so beautiful when they left, I'm sure you will be fine with anyone but I am going back to Pam. While your there, get a facial with Jill, it was so relaxing and my skin feels awesome, I will definitely be treating myself to more facials. I would give them 10 stars if I could! read more
