Based on my vision insurance, I expected a routine exam with only a minimal out-of-pocket cost. The appointment lasted about 15 to 20 minutes. My eyes were not even dilated, and I have no vision problems. Looking back, I should have questioned why I was asked for my medical insurance information when I checked in for my appointment, which had been scheduled as a routine eye exam. After the visit, I discovered the office had coded the appointment as a medical visit and submitted a claim for more than $300 to my medical insurance instead of billing VSP. The billing process felt misleading and lacked transparency. If you're scheduling a routine eye exam here, I recommend confirming in advance how your visit will be coded and which insurance will be billed so you don't end up with an unexpected insurance claim like I did.

I was charged $286.43 because the visit was incorrectly billed as a medical exam instead of a routine eye exam. As a result, my insurance company denied the claim, and I had to pay out of pocket. In 2024, I contacted my insurance company and was informed that the billing code used was incorrect. I then requested that the office resubmit the claim using the correct code, and they agreed to do so. When I followed up with the office today, I was informed that the claim was never resubmitted and that I would need to submit it myself. However, when I contacted my insurance company today, they advised me that the claim is now outside the two-year filing limit and that I am no longer eligible to request reimbursement.

Dr. Corrales operated on my eyes, and also helped me to achieve the best vision with my eyes, (without any glasses) with the latest technology of Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), implanted in my eyes at the time of performing cataract surgery, following with UV light treatments. Now, both my near and distance visions are amazing. It is wonderful that I can read, drive and see far without having to wear glasses or contact lens. My cataract surgery on both eyes and all the procedures for the Light Adjustable Len were smoothly and comfortably performed by Dr. Gustave Corrales, on Jan and February 2025. I found him to be a highly skilled cataract surgeon who is highly experienced with the LAL procedure. He is kind, professional, warm, caring, friendly and it is comfortable to deal with him. His technician team and staff is also highly dedicated, professional, efficient and caring. I am very pleased that I came to Dr. Corrales for my cataract surgery and highly recommend Dr. Gustavo Corrales and the Light Adjustable Lens for the best vision without having to wear any glasses. It is worth the cost!! Hien Le

She called me back after 5pm once she reached the doctor to let me know what to do, and scheduled me an appointment for 2 days later (before the weekend) so he could see my eye and confirm everything was OK. She "talked me off the ledge" because I was pretty concerned and stayed after hours to make sure I was OK with the plan. Both Ashley and Dr Corrales provided excellent care and spectacular customer service. I already see it is improving and they were both really wonderful.

Thankfully they were able to fit me in that same day and I saw Dr. Vinh, who diagnosed my abrasion and immediately alleviated my discomfort with numbing drops and a contact lens bandage over my cornea, prescribing me antibiotic drops to take to prevent an eye infection. Long story short I leaned the very hard way that I am allergic to a specific type of antibiotic eye drop (which for the record Dr. Vinh said was quite rare) and my eye swelled up and became badly inflamed overnight, causing me to return the next day and see Dr. Perry, who took great care of me and gave me steroid drops to bring down the inflammation. A day later and my eye was as good as new, and I saw Dr. Vinh again who gave me a clean bill of health. Simply put, I could not have been in better hands than I was with NOVA Vision Center. The professionalism and care that I experienced from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors was second to none. These folks are good at what they do, they truly care about their patients, and it shows. I now look forward to making them my new eye care place in the future, hopefully next time under better circumstances! :)

I needed an eye exam because like an idiot, I didn't realized I was down to my last pair of…read morecontacts and couldn't order more because my prescription is over 2 years old. I have been getting my glasses (2 pair for $99 deal) at MyEyes in Falls Church for a few years now. I really like the customer service there. So, I gave them a call and asked how much an eye exam was with their doctor. I used to have eye insurance and went to MyEyeDr in Ballston (and hated them). I have Tricare now through my husband and there's no eye coverage. I was told if I had "normal vision", meaning no stigmatism or out of the norm issues then it would be $99 for both a contacts and glasses exam. Otherwise it would be $109 (I think...maybe $107? I think it was $109). They had to give me the number to Dr. Larson, his office is not combined with MyEyes' location. Dr. Larson is right next door. I called on a Saturday at 4 PM and got an appointment for Monday at 4:40 PM, which was awesome for my work schedule. When I arrived to my appointment I filled out paperwork and then waited. He was about 20 minutes late, but that's usual with any medical office. He was super nice, he didn't have a nurse or tech come out to get me, he himself did. I went back with him and he was super nice, very talkative, very personable. I recognized his accent and asked him where he was from. He asked me to guess and I said Boston. I was correct. Being from New England myself I said, "Well, no wonder I like you!" He was very thorough with my exam and very realistic. One of my eyes had changed a bit but the other was the same. He asked me if I wanted two different prescriptions or the same for both eyes to keep it simple. I asked if I would notice and he said it was such minute difference that probably not. I decided to stick to one prescription for both. I also had been having terrible dry eye problems with the contacts I was given and unable to change by MyEyeDr at my last eye exam over two years go. I hate paying for unneeded exams and I just wanted to switch back to the Acuvue Oasys that I loved and MyEyeDr wouldn't let me without an exam. I was so irritated that I just ordered another year's worth of the Biofinities online. Dr. Larson put me back in Acuvue Oasys with Hydraclear and said if I had any problems with them I could always switch them out. When I went to check out the woman at the front desk gave me both my contacts and glasses prescription with ALL the needed information, no questions asked. I was impressed. I have had the WORST time in the past with MyEyeDr in Ballston because there is some measurement, I think it's the PD ,that you need for glasses and they wouldn't give it to me. I told them it's my information to have, my medical information and they finally reluctantly gave it to me. It's because they didn't want me ordering my glasses somewhere else. I was so happy to have no problems here, I'm very happy and will definitely go back to Dr. Larson....although in another two years....because like I said, I don't like having exams unless something changes and I can get the second year's contacts supply right at the 11 month mark from now without needing a new prescription. :)

She doesn't know whether cancer runs in my family, heart disease, diabetes, asthma, etc.... She had no desire to ask any questions. Her first words were "what are your major complaints." I actually didn't have any complaints, but our family doctor retired at the beginning of the year and we needed to find a new doctor and an elderly neighbor recommended her. My husband has already canceled his upcoming appointment with her and I will NOT be returning. For a doctor to not even ask for any medical history a first appointment is absurd. Her manner was very brusque, rude and I left feeling humiliated by her due to a medical condition I have. Her exact words about my condition were " What's up with that? It's ugly." And for some reason, she seemed to think that an unusual symptom I now have is from a medicine I've been on for 17 years. NO. She also didn't seem to know much about a condition I suffered from in the past two years. Well I don't know what country you're from, but that is not how a doctor behaves. I'm also leaving this review on my health insurance website because they ask insured folks to rate the doctors. You can guarantee I put everything and more on my insurance website. Please, don't go to this witch.
