I got my eye surgery done here and do my yearly check ups. Very professional but two complaints. one their missed/reschedule fee is extremely high and hidden behind a statement acting like they do if to protect other patients when it's really just a cash grab. Great office! My friend referred me for lasik and I had a great experience. The doctors and front office are so sweet and accommodating. Whenever I'm sitting in the waiting room I hear the front office staff on the phones and greeting patients and they deal with the most insane, rude, condescending people and they are always so professional and patient. I'm an elementary school teacher and I don't even get how they are so patient and kind. Would def recommend this location for anyone considering lasik. read more

I came here without an appointment to ask if The Eye Center was accepting new patients and was met with a very welcoming front desk person, Lina. She immediately gave me paperwork to fill out while I was there. After I completed the forms, Lina gave me an appointment for four days later. I came back then and enjoyed the experience with Rachel the eye technician, who explained to me before I took each test, what I could expect. She was very pleasant and easy on me. Next, she informed me that Dr Tailor would be giving me additional reading tests with each eye, and an eye pressure test. I received a lens prescription for eyewear and free sample eye drops for my dry eye condition from Dr Tailor. She said she found a beginning cataract, but no action was needed right now. Everything was painless and well organized. I look forward to returning in one year for a followup exam. I highly recommend The Eye Center for vision care. read more

Saturday morning appointment.... Starting off extremely horrible with a front desk receptionist named Moet (spelling may not be correct) who asked me to fill-out an information update sheet. I informed her that "nothing has changed" but she said "if you don't want to do it, you can leave and reschedule your appointment "; advised her every year I have this conversation which is ridiculous since nothing has changed. Moet informed me that we need the information update sheet done every year for insurance purposes because they require it; informed her that I am not using insurance so there is no need for me to do it especially if nothing has changed. Her tone became more assertive and said "either do the form or reschedule your appointment" ; I made her aware that her tone and aggressive mannerisms is NOT welcomed she said "find reschedule your appointment". I drove two hours to come to this appointment to be met with this unprofessional and ill mannered young lady that needs to take a better approach when dealing with the public. The reasoning she provided for needing the form filled out was logical and I would agree if I was using insurance to pay but the fact that I am not using insurance to pay and I stated nothing has changed should have been enough. Someone should provide Moët with a training session on customer service and conflict resolution procedures to better assist the public. I have been coming to this specific location 22 years and I have never felt so disappointed like today with the receptionist staff. So, if you are reading my review understand that it was a difficult review to write because in 22 years I have never been treated in that manner. Went here for the first time for my routine eye doctor visit. - The check-in was quick and efficient. - The first person to help me took me over to an area for routine screening. Then she took me into an office and had me look into a machine with different lenses, asked me what letters and numbers I saw, etc. - After that, the doctor came in to complete the check up. She was very friendly, welcoming, had a nice sense of humor. I really learned a lot from her. She explained the tests she was doing and what they meant. She also told me different ways to maintain healthy eyes, considering I work on computers quite a bit. I would highly recommend them! read more

My appointment for surgery was at 8:00. Today 7/26/14. I was nervous! The facility opened at 8 and took the elevator to the second floor (of the Fairfax Center). I walked in with two other patients and their families. Luckily I was the first to sign in. After a couple of minutes I was called and the process began. From the time I started my pre exam ( with Rachel) until I met Dr. Boutrose the staff made me feel comfortable and they answered all my questions. Three techs and another doctor came in to click my eyes, give me eye drops, and explain the post op procedures before I even met the Doctor. I have to admit it was over whelming and I felt like I should have written everything down. When Dr. B finally came in he was pleasant and very straight to the point about the follow up procedures. When It was time for me to go into the operating room, everything went by so quickly but I was still comfortable. The techs always asked me if I was okay and comfortable and they gave me a blanket because the operating room was cold. When I got home I took the post op meds and took a nap. It has been 5 hours since my procedure and although my eyes are a little uncomfortable (because I just had surgery ) I can say that I am beyond pleased. I can see much better without my glasses! I'm excited because my eyes will only continue to get better. Why didn't I do this sooner?!!!? My follow up checkup is in two days and I can't wait!!! read more

Went in for my first visit in Feb 2021. Everything was great. Fernando the tech that did al the work before the optometrist came in did a great job. Received a comprehensive eye exam, refraction, retinal photos and optic nerve photos and a recommendation to return in 3 months for a visual field. Fast forward to May 2021 when I went in for my visual field. Once again Fernando started repeating the entire procedure from the first time. I sort of caught on when the photos were being retaken. I asked him why he was repeating everything as I was only there for a visual field. He said it was what he was told to do. Next comes my billing statement for the visual field. It also included the same charges from my first statement including another comprehensive eye exam and retinal photos. When I inquired as to the double billing the first person I spoke with stated that every visit has these charges and directed me to their billing office where I was once again told that every visit includes an unnecessary comprehensive eye exam. As I ha a pressure check for glaucoma scheduled in September I asked if I would be given yet another comprehensive eye exam and the answer was yes. Every other practice I have been to has never given me more than one comprehensive eye exam per year. Seems their eye exams are not very comprehensive. Very dissatisfied with the double or even triple billing. Cancelled my Sept. appt. Will look elsewhere for a practice that only charges what is necessary. This has already cost more than my annual eye expenses in the past. Caveat Emptor! Forgot to add, called the billing office last Friday and left a message. No return call back. I have been coming here for years and have received good care for my eyes -- at first thought. However, I have discovered two things. One, they examine my eye fluid pressure during the hours when its naturally at its highest -- the morning hours, when blood pressure is at its highest, too -- and tell me it needs monitoring and I may need treatment in the future to prevent glacoma. Two, they have been overbilling on co-pays for years, charging me the amount for an opthalmologist's appointment when I was seen by an optometrist, which is lower, according to my insurer. And I have to fight to get a refund and receive bs excuses. So it's over. I will no longer be their dupe and I cannot recommend them for these reasons. read more

IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING THIS BUSINESS FOR YOUR EYE CARE READ THIS FIRST The Good Part: Nice Docs, clean office, very professional The REALLY bad part: Exposed Used car flim-flam pricing model. I went into this for the Raindrop corneal inlay procedure. Got assessed by the docs and was told I needed LASIK in my other eye to go with this procedure. Written Estimate: $5000 for the RAINDROP INLAY one eye $2000 for the ILASIK one eye $7000 - with the built in discount of $500 off made by the Doctor I was seeing that day. This makes the final cost $6500 out the door as they say. The Raindrop Inlay is an invasive procedure where they use a laser to cut the cornea, flap it, place the inlay and you are on your way. Everyone knows what LASIK is so I will spare you the run down. I was onboard for this at $6500. Hell, I have the money and the thought of no more glasses was outstanding! They gave me contacts that simulate the inlay and one of them was incorrect so I had to go back to get another on put in. While I was there another doctor talked with me about mono-vision ILASIK. She explained to me that she had it done 11 years ago and counting and all is great, vision is perfect. And best of all It was much cheaper and I could expect a 10 year or so stint without a tweek - I was again onboard for a procedure change and do mono-vision lasik! The new Doctor's written estimate was $4800 for both eyes, so ya, I was going to make this happen! However, in my head I was like, I was told yesterday it was normally 2K per eye?? Soooo, any who, while on the way home I hear the well-known Dr. Boutros "why wait" discount radio spot. $2000 off the regular price of lasik! I said whoop woop! So I called them asap to get this massive discount! Hell $4800 - $2000 = $2800 right! The day was getting so much better. However, my glee was short lived, even though the discount was confirmed to me twice via phone that it was in fact 2k off. Needless to say basically everything I was told this did not apply to ME in reality. Well, last night I got my "new" written estimate via email. The estimate went on to say that $2000 was in fact not the real price of the LASIK it was in fact 3200 PER EYE which would make the LASIK $6400 almost the same price as the new technology / RainDrop eye surgery. I said surly this has to be a mistake, it was not. Rachel went on to say in her email that Lasik I was quoted was with the discount applied ($2200). But I was not told that, the 4800 cut in half is 2400, not 2200. Sure, it's Basic math but complex pricing things tend to get foggy after that. The problem was it was getting confusing even to them since I never got that same answer twice, even on paper. Every one of the estimates was completely different. The numbers clearly show that the price per eye had jumped to absorb the "$2000 discount", it's the classic used car lot flim-flam. Actually, all three estimates had different, progressively HIGHER prices for the same procedure. Bump the prices, next week offer a discount, get the same money you wanted in the first place. It's a process as old as he hills. Marlo's Furniture (local seller in NVA) got in hot water for doing this very thing not that long ago. ON the way to work, at times it seemed that Boutros' radio spots squashed out Marlo's spots - the competition was fierce! The bait and switch. Anyway, I found this AMAZING! I informed Rachel that I would be writing this and several more scathing reviews of this practice and she could have cared less. I am sure the treatment you get here is great, of that I have NO DOUBT. However, the business end of it is shady at best. The big issue I have is most people that do NOT have this information go in pay way more for these services than the average (and some local) costs and are so happy with the result they choose not to aggrieve it. "I got my eye site back to normal, so who cares if I paid 3k more than I should have." Well I almost did it until I changed my procedure, that's where the cards were all put on the table - and I have the written paperwork and emails to prove it. IMHO it's the shady way to go. So before they attempt to refute this post I WILL scan and post my estimates, next week. And I will do the same with the emails too if I have to. I can't say enough good things about The Eye Center. I've worn glasses for 18 years. Never was able to get contacts in and out because I'm squeamish about touching my eyes. For that reason, I never considered Lasik until this year. I should have done it years ago! I went from 400/20 vision to 20/20 in the span of a day. I want to commend Maria, the office manager, for exceeding expectations in customer service. During my husband's office visit, I informed one of the medical assistants that my husband did not want any optometric services, just ophthalmic services. I also wrote this request on the new patient paperwork that I submitted prior to the office visit. Nevertheless, a refraction, an optometric service, was performed. I found out what happened when I received the bill in the mail. Fortunately, after calling The Eye Center, I was referred to Maria, who patiently and attentively listened to my complaint. She told me that she would contact the billing office to see about waiving the charge. Minutes later, she called me back to say that she had waived the charge. Maria did not have to do this for me. Because the service was provided, she could have insisted that I pay for it. Instead, she understood my position and empathized. She knew that my husband had already had a refraction done a month earlier elsewhere and should not have to pay for another one. Now, that is what high-quality, patient-centered service is all about! First of all, I want to mention that some doctors in this center are very kind and professional-like Dr.Reisner for example. But unfortunately they have very rude and unprofessional staff on a phone calls, reception, and on appointments. I had an appointment for eye exam on June 22 at 10:15am, I arrived at 10:05 but they made me to wait till 11:00, and when I asked them to warn us patients if there are any delays, so we plan accordingly and don't waste our time, they all started to treat me poorly in a rude manner instead of apologizing or just admitting their mistakes. At the end, after some back and forth arguments, due to disrespect from their side, I had to leave without seeing my doctor, and I wasted 2-3 hours of my life just like that. If you have an alternative options, I suggest you to not come to this center. They treat their patients as a slaves. Make yourself a favor, save yourself some time, energy, and nerves by choosing a better and more professional eye care centers. read more

Since I just came from my 4-month post-LASIK appointment, I figured now is as good a time as any to finally review The Eye Center! As you may have guessed, I received LASIK surgery here in October 2013. My prescription, prior to the surgery, was absolutely TERRIBLE (-7.5 -- which, for reference, is pretty much blind-as-a-bat-without-your-glasses-blind), and as someone who has worn contact lenses since she was 11 years old, and glasses since age 7, I honestly couldn't wait to free myself from their oppressive reign. Okay, maybe I'm being a little bit dramatic, but waking up and not even being able to see your alarm clock, or going to sleep and having to feel your way from the bathroom to your bed in the dark? That kind of stuff affects you, man! And now? I honestly have almost forgotten what my pre-LASIK life was like. It's amazing to be able to wake up and see, to have your nighttime ritual reduced to brushing your teeth and hopping into bed, and to know that if I fall asleep on someone's couch one weekend, I won't wake up with my contacts stuck behind my eyelids. The Eye Center, which I chose after my sister-in-law had a successful and pleasant experience with her own LASIK surgery, has truly been great. The staff at The Eye Center have never been anything but awesome with me, especially one of the technicians, Rachel (not sure of her actual title, but she's great!). And while I probably only spent like 20 minutes in total with Dr. Boutros (including the time spent doing the surgery!) he was, contrary to what a lot of these reviews say, really nice to me. He made some jokes, put me at ease (because the dose of Valium that they gave me beforehand didn't really do as much as I was hoping), and explained everything that he was doing to my eyes as it was happening. Here is pretty much what my LASIK experience was like: - You have to stop wearing your contact lenses at least 2 weeks prior to the surgery. I hate wearing glasses, so this was close to the worst part for me, haha. - You get a prescription for special eye drops to use the morning of your surgery. - You go in for your surgery appointment (have someone drive you), and I scheduled mine early in the day (9 AM) so I did not experience the long wait times that some of the other reviewers are complaining about. I don't really remember waiting all that long, in fact. - They run some final tests, take you into a room and give you a Valium to calm you down. I don't think the Valium actually had a super intense effect on me, but it did calm me a little. - The surgery happens. It's a little scary, because you're awake and there are a lot of bright lights and noises, but they have fully prepared you for everything that you experience, so there are really no surprises. - After the surgery, you can already see slightly better! - You go home, take another Valium, plus two ibuprofen, and try to go to sleep. I had a lot of trouble falling asleep, again, because the Valium dose wasn't particularly high for my weight/body type, so this was the worst part. Because after about an hour, your eyes start to hurt and MOST people are probably asleep for this part but it took me a really long time to pass out. - Once you DO fall asleep, you wake up a couple hours later and YOU CAN SEE! - You go back the next day for a follow up appt, then the next week, then a month later, then 3 months... well, you get the picture. - You use artificial tears and the special eyedrops you already picked up according to the doctor's instructions. Your eyes will be dry and nighttime driving will be scary for the first week or so. No makeup for a week, no working out for a week. - BUT YOU CAN SEE!! My LASIK cost about $4,000 in total (mine was slightly more expensive than my sister-in-law's since my prescription was basically twice as bad as hers). I did not get the warranty option since it requires yearly eye visits that cost extra money, and since they explain that regardless of whether you have perfect vision your whole life, or if you get LASIK, with how the eyes age I will probably end up needing reading glasses after the age of 40 anyway. So I figure that while, yes, my perfect 20/15 (!!) vision may not truly last forever, honestly it's already been worth the price. Plus they have a thing with Wells Fargo where you can finance the procedure for 0% APR for 12 months. Also, if you have a Flexible Spending Account as part of your healthcare, you can use that towards your LASIK and save a few extra tax dollars! I highly recommend The Eye Center if you are considering LASIK. It's not the most pleasant experience in the world, but it wasn't terrible, and c'mon! I can SEE! Worth every penny. read more

Absolutely the worst experience ever This so-called Doctor treats his patients like meat. The day of my surgery there were over 15 patients in the lobby all waiting. I was given some medication and told to wait in the lobby. When it was finally my 'turn', he was unapologetic and just wanted to make sure I signed all waivers so he wouldn't be sued later on. What a scumbag. Its obvious he is only in it for the money and tries to herd in customers like cattle and handle as many patients as possible. There are so many other places that do a better job. I had surgery here in my early twenties. I thought it would be a good investment and banked on the place not going out of business and got the life-time guarantee. My vision was fantastic for a couple of years. It was truly amazing to see the world in such detail and I was very happy. However, my eyesight just got worse and worse each year. I missed an annual eye exam which apparently voided my lifetime guarantee (why I don't know since it did not affect the surgery I'd had!). So that warranty was a complete waste of money. The surgery itself was not worth it either. 10 years later I wear glasses or lenses on a daily basis and certainly couldn't drive without them. Given the insidious small print and the fact that the amazing vision is short lived I would not recommend Lasik to anyone. I had iLASIK surgery from Doctor Boutros a mere 24 hours ago and I am now writing this review from 20 ft. away, using a fork attached to a dowel rod just to test the power of my newly adjusted sight. My vision is now INCREDIBLE! Maybe my enthusiasm level is a tad bit too high, but I have never had such clarity of vision until now. From start to finish, everyone at The Eye Center was thorough in making sure I understood the entire iLASIK process and ensuring that I was a good candidate for the surgery. Even though I darn near had an anxiety attack prior to the procedure, I was well-aware of what was going on. These folks run a great practice, and are certainly a part of why I chose to purchase a warranty with my surgery. If I need any kind of iLASIK enhancement, I would not think to go anywhere else. I would recommend The Eye Center to anyone interested in improving their vision. Having your eyes cut open and then reshaped by lasers is a very daunting task. Got iLASIK done today with Dr. Boutros and I'm loving the results! I got there before the other patients for surgery that day so I went first which was nice. The nurses took some measurements of my vision to prepare for the surgery, then Dr. Pearlman came in to talk to me and finally Dr. Boutros came in. Dr. Boutros is good, confident and seems to really care about his patients. Everyone was very good about asking if I had any questions or concerns throughout the whole process and that really put me at ease. They gave me Valium which really sedated me and made the whole procedure easy for me. The actual surgery took 10 minutes or less (though I was so sleepy I don't know if my perception of time was correct). Anyways, the point is everything was smooth and easy, the wait time was minimal, and I was in and out of there in an hour and a half. I was given verbal discharge instructions which I don't really remember but luckily everything was written down for me. Dr. Pearlman even gave me a courtesy call a couple hours after I got home which was really appreciated as I had a couple questions. It's always nice to talk to the doctor himself. I am so glad I finally got iLASIK and even happier that I chose Dr. Boutros and The Eye Center. It's a little pricey but worth every single penny for the service, medicine and bedside manner. I am a 26 year old female who just had lasik with Dr. Boutros on 11/14/14. I have no other words than remarkable of how the process went start to finish and most importantly the RESULTS! The staff was extremely helpful considering I asked about 1000 questions to be sure I knew my stuff! Everything was on a time, I arrived at my appointment 45 minutes in advance, surgery took about 15-20 minutes and I finished a brand new person! Going into surgery my prescription was 20/400 (-3.75 in each eye for contacts) I also had a astigmatism in my left eye. Due the the continuous contact wear my corneas swelled a tad in which they used a 90 blade for the flap verse 100 (only difference is thinner). When I was finished with surgery I was 20/20 vision. The following morning, went back for follow up, I had 20/15 vision which is remarkable. I can see EVERYTHING! Street signs I couldn't see before were clear as day, the sensitivity to light that I had prior to surgery was gone. The office staff are efficient and took time to explain what was covered & not by our insurance. My husband had Lasik back in 2002 and went from wearing thick cumbersome glasses since childhood to still having 20/20 vision 16yrs+ later. No regrets and wished we could have afforded it earlier. We were so pleased with Dr. Boutros in 2002 we took our son to see if he was a candidate for Lasik. We learned he was back in the fall of 2018 & returned in January to see if his eye pressure was stable. It was and we just had the procedure done in late January 2019. Their Lasik improved my vision but I'm still not perfect. They say I could wear glasses. What's the point of getting LASIK if they still recommend I wear glasses? I've kept up with my eye exams and asked that they stand by their warranty and enhance my eyes, but they keep delaying and telling me my eyes need to be stable. My eyes are stable. I've had about 10 vision exams since my surgery and they all show the same result. Suffice it to say, I am not happy with the result of my surgery and don't find that the doctors here care. read more

Today my Husband went for a Laser treatment that would over increase his vision in both eyes, he had already had a consultation and felt confident in Dr. Boutros's care. Of note....he is also specifically scheduled his procedure with Dr. Boutros whom does visit I believe multiple locations. The price was very reasonable for the superb care he received, I also understand there were some discounts available that made things very competitive as we paid with our FSA contributions. The clinic itself is clean and tidy, and the staff are incredibly sweet and welcoming. Embarrassed to say although they did introduce themselves, I don't remember their names. Dr. Boutros and his associate MD were wonderfully kind. I was amazed at the amount of time my Husband got to speak with both physicians. We were so well taken care of and the pre-op, peri-op and post care were thoroughly reviewed, also discussed were risks and benefits plus reasonable expectations. I have one word for this office of doctors: THIEVES! $300 in copays because they insisted my husband return on a daily basis for nearly 2 weeks to treat a corneal tear and subsequent infection that they did not correctly diagnose, coupled w/ another $600+ copay for a membrane contact that was suppose to help heal his corneal tear (only it didn't) just for them to finally give up and tell us to see another specialist. We sought out someone else on our own who quickly diagnosed an aggressive eye infection (acanthamoeba keratitis) that kept my husband's eye from healing and could've cost him his eyesight if it went untreated much longer. Less than two weeks of correct treatment and voila, the tear is healed and infection under control. Oh and this guy didn't make us come to his office every single day either. I am disgusted at the amount of money this practice effectively stole from us. Their specialty may be lasik but their other specialty is stealing money. STAY AWAY! read more

I had worn glasses and contacts since I was 13 and my vision at the time of surgery was something like -4.00 and -4.25. I went in for my consultation and they said I was a good candidate (yay!). I had the actual surgery pretty soon after that first thing on a Saturday morning. They really do pack the surgeries in on the weekends so I was glad to have the second appointment of the day. I didn't meet Dr. Boutros himself until I was high on Valium. He explained the procedure, and several other things I don't recall, when I was under the influence of Valium...which was a little strange. BUT, it's a great anti-anxiety drug, so no complaints here. Because of the drugs, I have no concept of how long the procedure actual took...but probably between 3-5 minutes. It's the weirdest experience ever...but worth it in the end. The same day I had perfect vision...along with a lot of pain. They give you another Valium to take when you get home so that you can pass out right away and sleep through the worst of it. They SAY that for a Saturday surgery you can return to work on Monday, which I did. However, for me at least, It was too soon and I had to leave work early. I probably had extra issues because my job was to stare at a computer screen all day...which exacerbates the recovery symptoms. Included in the surgery fee is a year's worth of follow up visits. It's something like every month...then every three months...and so on. I had more than normal because I was experiencing dry eye. The optometrists that work there are super nice and helpful. I never had a bad experience with one. The nurses and reception staff are super great too. In regards to other people's comments about Dr. Boutrous...his bedside manner is lacking. But seriously...he's good at what he does and you only have to spend like five minutes total with him (while on drugs), so who really cares if he's friendly or not? That's how I feel about it at least. Overall, I would certainly recommend this practice. They always always are having some radio special or something so make sure you aren't paying full price. read more

So, in about 2002-03 I was in the Army Reserve and was looking to change MOS's. To do that I needed eye surgery. I heard this guys add on DC 101, so I talked to my mom and got her to help me finance eye surgery. I did the procedure and everything went well. Or so it seemed. I got out of the army and went on to college on a lacrosse scholarship. While playing college lacrosse I started to have trouble seeing the ball. I ended up losing my scholarship. I went to the VA to get my eyes checked as I was also having problems reading my school work. The specialist at The VA sent me to the Shiley eye center at UCSD. They told me I should have never gotten eye surgery because I have a disease that laser surgery cannot fix called Korataconus. During the screening process at the eye center this should have been spotted. It probably was they just wanted to take my money and run. We tried to take legal action but the statute of limitations had already expired. Years later I am having more problems then ever before and chances are at some point I will need a cornea transplant. To add insult to injury I've been told by many eye specialist that this man is known as a hack in the eye community. He took advantage of me cause I was hoping to have this great career in the military and I was an easy target. Do not go see this guy. If you do you may end up just like me. I hope this man and the person who did my work up get the Karma they deserve. read more

I had surgery here nearly 10 years ago. Dr. Boutros and the staff were friendly, the waiting time was minimal, and the rooms were impeccably clean. I went from legally blind to x-ray vision (20/10). I'm only giving them 3 stars because they refuse insurance for your required annual check up to keep your warranty. In other words, if you try and submit a claim, you will void your warranty and will have to pay out of pocket for any future touch-ups. At over $100 a check up, no drastic changes, and possibility of moving out of state, it made no sense to continue doing this. Only wish I could have taken advantage of my costly insurance in getting my check ups. read more

I had iLasik at The Eye Center this past February. I previously read some of the reviews about The Eye Center and wanted to wait long enough to give an accurate review in case anything had gone wrong in the past 6 months. So here we are, a little over six months after getting Lasik. I had worn glasses everyday since I was 12. Shortly after my 31st birthday, I decided to look into Lasik procedures. I chose this doctor because its location was convenient and I had previously heard good things about them. I went to the office for a consultation and exam and was given the "okay" to get Lasik if I chose. At no time did the Eye Center pressure me or try to hard sell me. They laid out the options and prices, gave me an information packet and said if I chose to go through with it, the quote was valid for a few weeks (I want to say 30 days but I may be off). Two or three weeks later, I decided to go through with it and called them to schedule the procedure. The morning of the procedure, I had to wait a little longer than I expected which made me a little anxious. However, once I got started, the entire procedure only took about 15 minutes. I declined the Valium because I usually don't take medicine unless absolutely necessary. But going through the procedure was one of the easiest things I've ever done. The scariest part was when your vision goes dark for a few seconds even though your eyes are open. But it's completely painless. My procedure wrapped up around 1pm. I wasn't able to see anything for a few hours because my pupils were dilated and everything was bright and blurry. Instead, I took a nap and when I woke up around 5pm, I had no issues seeing clearly. And in the past six months, I have had no negative effects. Someone wrote in an earlier review that missing an annual eye exam "apparently" voided their warranty. I'm not sure how anyone can miss that. When you sign the warranty paperwork, it says in bold letters that missing any appointment will void the warranty. If anyone is considering Lasik, I'd definitely recommend the Eye Center. The staff have been extremely friendly and the follow up exams have been 5-10 minutes long (following day, following week, following month, etc.). The price is a little higher than other places but I classify this as one of those "you get what you pay for" instances. read more

My first experience at this center for lasik. Hands down best. Roxanne the receptionist is amazing!! She had her right hand in a sling but she was taking calls with amazing professionalism, talking to patients at front desk, giving paperwork, multitasking like a pro!! And she repeats instructions to patients and smiles! Miles apart compared to horrendous Sterling office. Dr Reisner and the staff and nurses at Fairfax office were all amazing!!! The Eye Center did my lasik 15 years ago and I have been a loyal patient ever since. Trust me when I say that if they weren't so great, I would never make the annual trip from Bethesda in heavy traffic. The doctors are excellent, the staff is friendly and helpful. Dr. Boutros works wonders! I came to the Eye Center for a free consultation and they told me I was a perfect candidate. I took advantage of his $2000 off Anniversary Sale which he does every year (I think). I've had a pleasant experience every time I went for an appointment, never had to wait long. They made me aware of all the risks of the surgery, made sure I knew exactly what to expect. I'm so glad I decided to do it. The surgery itself was easy and painless. I had it done on a Saturday morning... didn't even have to miss a day of work! The operating room was right next to the waiting room, separated by a large window where you could watch a surgery happening if you wanted. Before the surgery they gave me some valium to relax me (you have to be awake during the procedure) as well as numbing drops, and less than 10 minutes later it was over! I went home and took a couple pills, slept for 4 hours and woke up never feeling an ounce of pain. And I could see perfectly! My eyes were dry and a little scratchy for a while, but they prescribe you drops which provide much relief. At my first follow-up my vision was 20/15. By my 3-month follow-up, it had improved to 20/10 !!!! That is pretty unusual and they were very excited about it! (I also want to note, I have a friend who went to a different local lasik center around the same time, and had a miserable and more painful experience.)
