The risk of surgical complications scared me to death! But when I went in for a consultation with Dr. Romano, he took valuable time to provide me with a thorough and honest explanation of the surgical procedures. His confidence and warm personality put me right at ease. I was very impressed by the surgical facilities, as well as the care and attention given to me by the pre-op, post-op, surgical staffs, and especially his office assistance, Cindy. I came here for my consultation after being referred from my girlfriend who had her breast augmentation done with Dr. Romano. Dr. Romano did an amazing job on her and she feels so much more confident. After about a month after her procedure, I decided to visit Dr. Romano. He was extremely nice, down to earth, and most of all straight forward. He will not try to sell you anything, not upgrade you on skin care products or procedures. What you come in for is what he talks about. That was what I like about it. And in the end when you ask him, " So how big should I go? " He leaves it completely up to you. He told me he wanted me to be happy for me, and not anybody else, and I have to be comfortable. He will not suggest or pressure you to do anything. He gives you the facts and you make the decision based on the facts. My consultation was 45 minutes. In the consultation he gives tells you the pros and cons the types of breast implants, goes over the anatomy of the breast, he teaches you how to examine your breast and then you get to try on all the sizes. =D My husband also got a really good impression of him because he was very knowledgeable about what he was talking about and also he did not pressure me to upgrade or do something extra. I really liked him as a person, and I think that is important especially when it comes to your body. I have been to a few other consultations and have met a few other plastic surgeons in the past and have never gotten to the point where I would let them touch me based on my gut feeling. There were also times where I would meet the doctor for 5 minutes and I knew I would never trust them because I could tell they were so full of themselves and self absorbed. I am schedule to have the procedure done in a few weeks. I will update my review and let you know how it went. You will not be sorry with Dr. Romano. He is one of the most nicest doctors that I have ever met. I trust him completely. Another positive is that he is very reasonable compared to other surgeons that I have been to. read more

I first met Dr. Romano in 2004, when I was referred to him by a friend of mine. I went in for a "tummy tuck" and ended up getting a tummy tuck and breast augmentation. I am so happy with both procedures. Since then, I have had other procedures done with Dr. Romano such as lipo, Active FX (skin resurfacing), blepharoplasty (skin removed from my eyelids) , Botox, etc. All of these procedures were explained in depth with the pros and cons and I felt very confidant that he was qualified to do the procedures. He has pictures to show you with other people he has done with the same procedure you are interested in, so seeing those pictures made me even more comfortable. I am still going back as regularly as I can to get Botox and I love to go to his office and chat with his staff. His nurse, Jeanne is a wonderful lady inside and out and that is why Dr. Romano has her as his nurse. His office manager, Cindy has been with Dr. Romano for many years and she is an intelligent beautiful woman. Dr. Romano is the best and has the best staff working for him. For 3 years I was going to American Laser Center and they did not remove my hair. It was hard to get appointment and laser was very painfull. I liked my nurse Victoria Panova which quit american laser and tranfered to this company. She is friendly (that's why i fallow here here) ,their lasers do not hurt and your first treatment is for free. Prices are resonable and everybody is very proffesional. read more

I had cheek implants put in by this docto about 3b yrs agor...the left side was ok ,but the right side was totally off in my mouth. he made me wait about a yr. and perform a second surgery through my eye this time....i didnt want the surgery through my eye,but he basically forced me to have it through the eye...he made it worse doing it through my eye ..this time not only the implant was off,also he cut my tear duct in my right eye...my right eye tears non stop and my implant is still in wrong place... its been over 3 yrs now and my face is still fucked up and he wont do anything about it...so far i have spend oner !4K trying to fix his fuck up and still not fixed...warning warning warning...plz do not let this INSENSATIVE person fuck up up... i have an appt with a new doctor soon hoping he will fix my face. I decided I wanted to get a BA and possibly a tummy tuck since I've had two kiddos and as much as I workout I still had leftover skin from my past two c sections. I made an appointment for consultation in September and came into the office I was greeted properly and as I walked in the room I wasn't rushed to come out of my clothes at all, I sat down and the doctor came in said hello and explained to me everything and anything there was to know about what he does and how he does it and how everything works and the options and pros and cons. He is such an honest genuine and just resourceful doctor. He doesn't force you to enhance yourself and he is just very sensible in finding out and feeling for what you want and why you have come in. He's very cool and calm and isn't pushy. Professional as well as reliable. I also decided after my consultation and as I booked my Pre op appointment and surgery date that I didn't want to do just one surgery but might as well add the other; I came in on my pre op date discussed the details of the first part of the surgery and asked him about the tummy tuck he then looked at me and asked my weight and said no need, and suggested a more safe and efficient way as well as a great way since I was already going to be numb from the anesthesia; it was about 30-40% cheaper to do lipo than to tummy tuck it and he was so honest for that and the risk of each outweighs each other; that's why I would go back to Dr. Romano for any questions and concerns I have with my body and what i would want to do with it. To add- I like Cindy she is very sweet and just is on top of everything; and reliable she reminded me of certain things and what I would need and just a sweet lovely lady. I went to this Dr. Romano in 2008. I went in for Active FX, and there was confusion at the time of my appointment and the office did not know who was coming in and for what laser procedure. They ended up doing a far aggressive laser on me. The laser was a single pass laser and 2 passes were done exactly where I am scared. The doctor was extremely insensitive to my plight. My face was horrible and made me feel like a monster. I gave them almost a year to fix it--which was painful with very little improvement. They would sit me in a waiting room with patients gasping at my face. I cried in his office constantly. He kept telling me one day you will wash your face and it would be gone. I trusted this doctor and even worked with some of the girls in the office 20+ years ago. I was floored by the lack of standard of care and his complete and utter arrogance. I would never trust this doctor with my face or anybody else's. I believe I was his 7th patient he ever performed that procedure on. Funny thing was he said I only needed skin care and sunscreen and even documented in my chart! He was not detailed and even left settings off of the treatment log. If you want an open, honest relationship with your doctor this is not your doctor. He will hide in shame if you have a problem and not come in to see you when you are receiving your revisions. In all the time I went for revision--which was numerous times--I think he only stopped in once. Boy was he a let down! His partner Dr. Okamoto does wonderful work! I am familiar with cosmetic surgery. I have had some procedures done in other parts of the country where we have lived. Went to Dr Romano for information since we live in Fremont. I was very impressed by his manner/medical knowledge, his office staff and the general style that was demonstrated in the clinic. Today I ended up having a procedure and was very pleased with the experience. He was upfront/honest with what could and could not be expected for my type of problem. Both he and Cindy were very straightforward about the pricing. I am surprised at some of the negative comments on Yelp. I personally would recommend this practice. I have booked future appointments for some additional procedures. Professionally, I am an RN. The reality is that the human body is not always predictable and any patient has to aware of what can and cannot be done. Any patient has to be realistic, especially when having "improvement" procedures. I am thrilled with my result and look forward to my upcoming visits to this practice. read more

I do not recommend this doctor to anyone! A little over a year ago I came to Dr.Romano for a BA and lift after a close family friend referred him to me. My left breast was almost two times bigger than my right. I had a consultation with him and he discussed and explained the procedure in a way that made me gain trust in him because he promised me so much, I also had consultations with other doctors and even found sizing or "cc's" that I liked and told him, but he suggested a smaller cc and being a professional I trusted his word...big mistake! Three months after my surgery I told him that I wasn't happy because they were still noticeably uneven and that they were too small, his response, "well you have to remember, they're sisters not twins." I told him every appointment for a year that I was unhappy and they are still uneven and it was the same response if not another excuse as to why they were the way they were. It was a total waste of money and in order to "fix" them I would've had to pay another 4K+!!! He didn't seem to care one bit. This surgery was suppose to be a huge self esteem booster and a beginning to a "new" me but it's quite the opposite, slightly bigger breast with the same problem. Dr. Romano is the best plastic surgeon around. I came to his office for a consultation for my breast and a tummy tuck, I am a mother of three kids and breast fed all of them and not to mention gained and lost a ton of weight. My breast were super messed up and my stomach, Dr. Romano suggested I do a modified tummy tuck because my loose skin is all at the lower area of my stomach and it saved me a ton of money by doing so. I also count make up my mind if I wanted the gummy bear (silicone) or the saline, and he explained the pro and the cons for both for at least a good hour or so. Every question I had he explained in great detail to me until I understood completely what I was getting myself into. And Cindy is such a sweet lady she keeps you informed and goes above and beyond to make sure your taken care of. Dr. John Romano is the best cosmetic surgeon. I had my breast augmentation I believe 10 years ago and came back since I was thinking of getting an abdominoplasty. He has never changed the same honest doctor who educates you about different options and procedures. He gives you pointers and advice in reaching your goal. He is not a business man and is extremely brilliant with his work. I took my mom 7 years ago and asked Dr. Romano if she needed some photo facial or other treatments he said your mom looks fine she doesn't need any work or treatments. Now that's an honest surgeon. I also like his staff and miss the old manager they are all very helpful and makes you feel like family. I used to have Kaiser and when I had my laparoscopy I spoke to some doctors and nurses and they even commend Dr. John Romano. If nurses and doctors speak highly of a surgeon one can never go wrong. They run fantastic specials so I was able to get my underarms waxed by Dianne Pittman who really knew her business and a facial for 85.00! You must go here and you must take advatage of the specials! I had a breast lift procedure done 6 years ago and I also had my eyes done. I am still pleased! During the consultation, he was very thorough and made sure That I understood everything about the procedures and that he had answered all my many questions. I went to all the follow up visit and received wonderful care. I still come to the office periodically for Botox and Restylane injections and am very happy with the results.
