I brought in my G-Shock today. The watch works perfectly -- I only wanted the back gasket reseated because I changed the battery last year and noticed moisture once after washing my hands. I explained that I didn't remove any buttons or seals, just the back cover. Instead of listening, the technician insisted that "all button gaskets must be replaced" in order to reseal it and quoted $54 plus ordering parts. This is not true for a simple reseal -- only the back gasket needs to be properly seated unless the buttons were disassembled, which they were not. When I questioned it politely, the technician became irritated and told me "if you don't want it, go somewhere else." No professionalism and no transparency. I ended up visiting another watch shop afterward -- they reseated the gasket correctly in under 10 minutes for $15 and confirmed that no button gaskets were needed. I don't recommend this place due to the attitude and the attempt to upsell unnecessary parts. Customers deserve honesty and respect.FYI the technician was John the owner himself. read more

He quoted me $95 to make a Mazda key which even a greedy Mazda dealer (Galpin) wanted a little over $70 (incl tax) for. Update: He responded me below saying that his quote was $39, which is a total BS. I even repeated to him the $$ he quoted me to clarify. He did offer me a lower quote if I had gone with a different key which did not fit inside the key fob but that option would have been totally useless. This clearly show what kind of business he is running. Of course, I walked away instead of doing business with him. What does he expect?&*^%*??? Came in to make a duplicate key and remote for my car. He said it would cost between $50-100 so i agreed. Paid 20 deposit and came back for my appointment. John inspected the car and said since my vehicle used higher security systems and because its a Japanese and would now cost $200 to make a duplicate. I drive a Honda which is a common car, meaning he does this to a lot of people. I declined to continue with the business because he was dishonest with the original price. Looking here i should've checked the reviews first because he pulled the same bullshit on me. I'm a handicapped senior and thought I was going into a Reputable merchant. I went into John's Watch Repair for the first time today. All I needed was a new battery and have them change my own watch band that I provided. The service technician was extremely rude. I asked him what a new battery would cost and he told me $29.99. If you look on Amazon they only cost $8.00. I can see them double that price but charge $29.99 they were completely taking advantage of me. For him to put my own provided band on that took 2 minutes he changed me $25.00. Again a complete rip off. Then to top everything else off he charged me an extra $6.00 because I paid him with my Visa. Credit card companies do not charge that much of a fee and they actually doubled it. All I can say is be careful who you do business with. I hope that the owner reach this and contact me it's sad that you can't trust people in today's world I do not under any circumstances recommend Jons to anyone. This guy is a con artist. He refuses to give prices over the phone because they are astronomically high. Walked in to get pricing for a basic early 2000s toyota transponder key (cut, but unprogrammed) as my model year car allows self programming by following a DIY procedure directly using the ignition. He went on some pitch about how my car requires an expensive programmer to try to upsell me (when it doesn't). In the end he said it will be $95. (When there was the same key on display attached to a sign for $19.99 I can't imagine the $75 difference would be for cutting alone. There was another customer in the store he was giving a similar pitch to and he was being very condescending and dismissive to both of us treating us like children that don't know anything. North Hollywood Toyota sells a GENUINE (not aftermarket) key blank for $22 and I found a locksmith on the way home that was happy to cut it for me for $5. I brought my Movado watch at this shop for service. The repair was completed a week earlier compared to sending it to an authorized dealer and the quality of work was excellent. The technician was affront on how much the service was going to cost snd it is more affordable compared to other shops. John, the owner/technician is a friendly person who is easy to deal with and he always greets his customer with a smile. He is also fluent in Spanish. I would give this business a minus star but you are forced to give at the bare minimum a 1 star which is unfortunate... Needless to say I am very disappointed in the service I received at this place of business. I went into this place to have a simple house key made which was 5 or 6 bucks which seemed fair and after the key was cut he asked for the money and I preceeded to hand him my debit card. He then proceeded to tell me that he doesn't take any card payments under 20 dollars. I then asked him how much it would be to cut a duplicate key for my 2008 Honda Element which he told be it would be $120. I then asked him how much it would be to replace the alarm remote which he then told me it would be $150 which totals $270. I felt that was high but he did state the key itself has a computer chip so to me it made sense but I did not have the alarm remote or the Honda key cut. I was then instructed I could pull money from the laundry mat next door to him. I needed the house key so I went over to the laundry mat to pull money from their atm which had an additional 3 dollar charge above the amount I pulled. After returning to the pay for my key I asked the man who was working there if he could please write down the price he quoted me so that if I decided to do that could bring in cash so as not to make the same mistake. His response was he didn't want to write it down for me and he then preceded to tell me to just bring him $500 and he would give me the change. I just laughed at him and walked out. The very next day when at work in Thousand Oaks I went into a business called Batteries and Bulbs which I know also cuts keys and does key fobs and remotes as well. The owner was super friendly and helpful, and the key that I was quoted $120 for I got for $20 and the remote that I was quoted $150 for was $100. The moral of this review to is notify people to do your research and most definitely stay away from this place because it seems they like to price gouge and the owner or worker there is ridiculous. read more
