Overall, I'm glad to be continuing care with this doctor and hope the phone responsiveness continues to improve.

However, all these other patients came and went, but I was never called. About 1.5 hrs later, I still wasn't called. This should've been a quick shot and then I would be out the door in a few mins. Then again, this wasn't the first time this has happened. The last time this happened, I had asked the staff how much longer I had to wait after waiting for an hour, but found out they had forgotten about me and proceeded to get me with my doctor asap, only to be lectured to be understanding since Saturdays are busy and to not book on Saturdays. So, I tried to hold on a bit longer this time, but after almost 2 hrs I was reaching my breaking point. Finally, the person who supposedly checked me in noticed me and asked if I was still waiting. I was super shocked at this point. When I told them how long I was waiting for, their faces said it all. They had once again forgotten about me. Then proceeded to get me with the doctor for my shot. I also understand the doctor can be very curt but I was already feeling put off by their staff earlier and it didn't help with my mood. I didn't get any sincere apology at all from them either; Just a quick "oh sorry" sort of apology. Not even after I was done with my allergy shot. Ultimately, I decided I was done. I didn't want to get brushed off by them anymore on top of getting shots that aren't improving my allergies at all. I can't say who the staff member was, because I want to be careful not to make this about race or identity. Sooooo, if you folks are still going here, make sure you check they actually checked you in. They should also be "understanding" about your time too. Otherwise, what's the point of appointments.

Hoping a change in climate would help, I even moved to Hawaii in 2015. I saw several allergists at Queen's, but none were able to provide real answers. Dr. Kam was the first doctor who truly took action. On my very first visit, he personally arranged for me to see a pulmonologist that same morning, without a prior appointment. That level of care and advocacy is rare. Because of Dr. Kam, my asthma is now well controlled, and my quality of life has completely changed. He is knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely invested in his patients. I have nothing but respect and gratitude for him. I highly recommend Dr. Kam to anyone dealing with asthma or allergies.

With the fear of covid all around, all the reasons why you would see your PCP are, now, all the reasons why you are not allowed into the office... cough, included and perhaps- especially. So, after about 10 telehealth visits and instructions to give zyrtec daily and vacuum (I do that 5 times a day regardless) and air out mattresses and zero improvement - I was desperate and searched for a local allergy specialist online. Aloha Allergy and Immunology came up and were, thankfully, still taking new patients! We have HMSA PPO federal plan so we didn't need a referral to make an appointment. I understand that covid can be scary if you haven't had it, but it was truly heartbreaking to watch my poor toddler have coughing fits throughout the day and even wake her from sleep and her pediatrician was unwilling to see her in office because of her chronic cough. But on our first appointment, Dr. Lucuab-Fegurgur and staff were so compassionate and understanding to my daughter's situation. They expressed genuine concern for her well-being and didn't treat her like a walking disease. We discovered that her coughing was due to post-nasal drip and she has allergic rhinitis which is like an allergy- induced asthma. They did a scratch test to see what amongst the common irritants, were possibly affecting her. Come to find out, she's extremely allergic to dust mites and cockroach. Two things I cannot avoid in island... like- hardly at all. However, we know now how best we can help her. I have a lot of laundry and need to set up traps regularly in the car and at home. No stuffed animals or rugs- etc. She's on montelukast, Flonase, zyrtec and (when needed) albuterol. As long as she is propped up, she does not usually have a problem sleeping without anything. Anyway, Dr. L is an answer to prayer! She is WONDERFUL. She is kind and attentive and has helped my daughter be able to return to normal activities like school and play dates without getting dirty looks from those unaware that allergic coughs are a thing and not contagious... if you or someone you know needs an allergy specialist, Aloha Allergy and Immunology is your bet! I was one of those unknown cases a few years back that my General Practitioner and Internist at the time both couldn't figure out, so I was referred to Dr. Lehman, who was an MD specializing in allergy and immunology. From the first visit with Dr. Lehman, I was relieved to see that he was a very nice Doctor with great bedside manners. He was very thorough during the exam and made sure that he explained how allergies and the immune system work all hand in hand. I know that there are many skeptical practitioners and Doctors out there about allergists, but all I can say that after working with Dr. Lehman and having him do a complete skin allergy testing on me and bringing me down to a singular source diet for a few weeks, he has completely helped me. I have since returned to a very regular diet and my hives and lip swellings have completed disappeared, and I have been living seven years free of any type of allergic reactions. All I can say is that you can't knock it until you try it yourself.

He texted me needing a lift from Pali Momi Medical Center (PMMC) to his home just off Kinau Street. PMMC opened its doors in July 1989 and has been servicing Central and West Oahu. It was originally opened as Kapiolani Medical Center at Pali Momi until rebranded as PMMC in 2010. They are conveniently located in Aiea just down the road from Pearlridge Shopping Center. It was my first time here and was impressed with the upkeep of the grounds. Because my friend just had a procedure to the day prior, a hospital staff wheeled him via wheelchair to the pickup/drop off area. I was amazed by the hospital's attention to patient's condition, consideration and service extended. Although the pickup was a fairly quick process, the setback I encountered was leaving. There were 2 parked cars in front of me and it didn't seem the cars would be leaving soon. Furthermore, the right hand lane was too narrow where I couldn't pass them. My only option was to back up and exit via the far left lane. Thank goodness there was no car behind me otherwise I would have been in a standstill. Overall, impressed with my first visit to PMMC, with the exception of their pickup and drop off area. 2026 #60

He was responsive and very caring. My son felt safe with him. The night nurse, Cliff, was also very good too! Case managers, Beth and Tainika, kept our family up-to-date with our son's status. My son still has a slight yellow tinge to his skin, but he is stable and getting stronger thanks to the great care provided by the wonderful Pali Momi staff of doctors and nurses! Mahalo!

SO many waiting! I was seen 1.5 HOURS past my appointment time. I foster animals, and when I saw him I had 5 in house. Skin cancer topical 5-FU treatment IS TOXIC TO ANIMALS. I wanted something else and he replied, "Get rid of your animals." BH! Saw another Dermatologist after a year putting up with 5FU covered up, washing hands, laundry not to contaminate my animals...and it didn't work at ALL- in fact it spread so now I need surgery. Did NOT return here. There ARE other options for meds and removal of skin cancers you know! Lesions were removed with MOH surgery. Don't recommend this physician, sorry.

Once in the room I strip down, gown up and not waste his time. He checks me from head to toe military style, efficient and thorough. That is what I like that he really goes over everything. It is really hard to find a doctor of dermatology that does that in a way that I know nothing was missed.

Eventually, I got a word in and asked what was the other MD's number and she said "I'm in the middle of a telehealth with a patient. You can look it up in the phone book." Well, I'm sorry for disturbing you. I understand you're busy, but if you're in the middle of a telehealth with a patient why did you answer the call? I was expecting the front desk to answer. You could have easily said, "Hi, I'm sorry I'm with another patient. Can I transfer you to my front office?" Is that hard? Absolutely not. I've spoken to other doctors who speak calm, respectfully, and would not have handled that phone call as she did.
