deplorable predatory membership practices…read more first they tell you its $1 for the first month and then tell you theyll charge you your last month on the same day. once you sign, "oh by the way theres a $50 dollar annual fee on your next payment". so you go from paying $1 to $110 on the first day and then $160 plus tax on your second month! then if you wanna change anything on your membership you have to call. and theyll tell you you have to call after 11am or go in to talk to someone to cancel. then you have to go in and talk to someone and or finally you have to email someone to change anything on your account?! its 2026! all of this should be able to be done over an app - but noooopeeee the app gives you the option but wont allow you to. they spin you round and round, and then when you want to cancel they will force you to stay and additional 21 days which if youre in cycle that means your last month payment which you paid on your first day doesnt count! so now youre stuck for 2 more months. peak scam mentallity. if you go in better have a card ready that youre willing to cancel cause it will be the only way out.

That did not last long as the focus quickly changed from a true competition gym to more of a cash cow and day care. This gym is the SPIRIT AIRLINES of Jiu Jitsu gyms. Pay for the gear they sell at the gym because you can't wear anything else, pay for belt promotions at $100 a promotion per child, $150 "in-house" tournaments which is only disclosed two weeks prior to the first scheduled tournament, $10 admission per person to watch your child compete at "in-house" tournament, no medals just a cheap red shirt promoting the gym. Training and competition class, "intermediate" to say the least and is an additional $150 a month on top of the $250 for a regular membership - then add privates ranging from $100 to over $200 an hour. Locker room and coaches reek of marijuana. There is no parking, you half to cross a major street at rush hour with your children and again at night after class. You will be told by Vagner that the only way your child can progress and win is via competing and privates. However, Vagner himself does not show up for competitions whether local or not, whether to watch or coach. Jasmine will travel if you buy her a plane ticket and put her up in a hotel and drive her to and from the event with no problem. If you are lucky you will have 1 coach for all the kids and that is if he is not coaching his son at the time. No questioning the training or you will be black listed - isn't YOUR MONEY PAYING FOR A SERVICE?! Coach Adrian will harass your wife via text message stating " to put you on a leash or it won't end well." No cross training or you will be given an ultimatum via text to pick a gym, because they claim to know what's best for YOUR child. Yet, they don't fix the mistakes unless you pay for privates. The staff and owners will claim you are family, and that may be true until the money stops flowing, or you don't do as you're told. Vagner, Jasmine and Adrian will even come over to your house to apologize for an ultimatum given then look your child in the face, apologize to them, claim to love them, only to stab them in the back weeks later when Adrian is being sneaky and getting caught by their student holding privates for free while others pay hundreds and when that 3rd person doesn't show up your child won't be included again. But that behavior is acceptable because the Coach's son has a super fight coming up. Know your child's worth and be careful; it is not what it appears to be from the outside. There are many better options for competitive jiu jitsu in Broward and Dade County than VRMA. If you are looking for EXPENSIVE, intermediate training for your children then this is the place for you.

What I signed up for, compared to what I got is amazing! Originally I thought I was going to learn only jujitsu, but instead I learned way more. The lessons I've learned in jujitsu apply in self defense, strategies, problem solving, warrior mentality, becoming healthier, stronger, losing weight, embracing hard work, being more humble, and just becoming a better human being. This establishment changed my life!!! I signed up for a free trial in April of 2019 to try out the kickboxing classes and was absolutely hooked from day one. I decided to sign up for the monthly membership and have been on my fitness journey ever since. The instructors are amazing. Each one brings something different to the table which makes for a fun and diverse workout routine. They are very welcoming, push you to your limits and also help you through the workout routines to be sure you are using proper form and technique. Most importantly they provide an environment that makes you feel like you are part of the John Wai Martial Arts family. Osei, Martin, David, Rachel, Matt and the Maria's are awesome! Since starting my fitness journey with John Wai Martial Arts I have achieved more than I ever thought that I could. I lost 30 lbs from my April start date thru September of this year. I then hit a plateau until I signed up for the Overdrive Camp which was an intensive fitness and nutrition plan designed to take you to the next level. Osei and Rachel really hit it out of the park with this program. It's been a month since I joined JWMA and my experience so far has been nothing but amazing! I was searching for a typical gym online and I came across this place. First I thought I wouldn't be able to do it with a tight work schedule as the workouts are tough but I changed my mind after my free training session and became a member. (Best decision I've made). There's no better place to relieve your everyday stress and to tone your body at the same time. I feel a significant change in my overall physique only after a month of working out here. My son has recently started going to John Wai Martial Arts and all I have to say is this place is AMAZING! From the moment you walk in to the gym all the staff members treat you like family. They are kind, respectful, and very pleasant. They help answer any and all of my questions and concerns. The instructors are wonderful with the kids, they always make my son feel so comfortable. The only equipment you'll need at John Wai is an open mind and a willingness to leave behind your current fitness level to achieve your goals! Every day at kickboxing is a different workout, so you'll never feel a sense of repetition or monotony. This establishment has trained instructors that are caring, but also push you to be a better version of yourself and make you enjoy your time there. Why join a gym when you can join a community? The second I joined the community a month ago, I knew I made the right decision.
