Obviously looking into the weather future we got bummed out super hard because it was forecasted to rain. Playing mill valley the day before we needed a follow up for Sunday. Hopped on the website late Saturday Night and booked our first session for 9am Sunday. Hungover and itchy, we gathered ourselves and showed up promptly at 9AM. Semi-excited and with half expectations, we waited. We waited. We waited in the rain. Dryvebox was a no show. Luckily Winston from Lincoln Golf Course was around to let us know dryvebox didn't show up today. What a freaking bummer. What a flapping disappointment. I contacted dryvebox via fb, email and voicemail. After leaving a voicemail, I got a call back in less than 30 seconds. Within 5 minutes we were already set up with a new tee time. He would text us detailed insightful reports afterwards to let us know what she needs to focus on. And best yet, he makes it fun and a great role model for my daughter. Over the years, my son has had few coaches who worked with him privately beyond classes such as Operation 36, Nike golf camps, First Tee, etc. As parents, this has been our first experience where a coach brought us into light on what exactly are our son's strengths and challenges are in great details. Most private instructions are good that includes a short but detailed explanation on what is working and what is further needed. With Coach Brandon, he goes the extra mile with not just a detailed explanation in person but provides a better understanding for the player and parents with videos and a comprehensive write up of lesson planning, what's working, what needs improvement and how to get there in what timeframe. Coach Brandon is gentle with little humor here and there. He's a great role model to a young player as he's not just a coach but a player himself. Because he's also a player, he understands the ups and downs of playing golf first hand and can translate its relevancy and impact to a student who's eager to learn and improve. Thus far, we've been very impressed with Coach Brandon's skills and approach. As a parent of a son in tween stage, Coach Brandon's been a prefect match to our son.

Combined with the nice weather, the course is dry and playing faster than normal. I wish they'd maintain the course like this year round because if the greens were as a good as they were this past weekend, it'd be one of the best deals for public golf in the Bay Area. Plus you can't beat the views on a clear day of the Golden Gate Bridge. We came here this past Sunday without a tee time and were able to get 2some out with minimal wait. Making a tee time in advance is definitely recommended but if you are looking for a last minute way to get out to the course, walking on is possible. Since it was a hot day, we decided to get a power cart which is $50 for two people. It's a cart-path only course, which is a bummer but since it doesn't typically drain well, it makes sense. $50 for a cart is kinda steep considering the carts are standard and don't provide any type of GPS or anything. The course is very hilly, so even with a push cart, it can be a strenuous walk. Like I mentioned in the beginning, if you were thinking about playing Lincoln, now would be a great time since the course is in great condition.

Some of the holes are definitely challenging. The greens are have some many levels to it, so it takes a couple times playing the course to get used to it. For the winter, they have mats that you tee off from, but I heard they are going back to traditional tee boxes in a couple weeks. To play it's $23/25 if you have a SF resident card, $50 for non-residents. I think for the price $50 is a bit steep for a par 3 course, when you can play lincoln or sharp park for slightly more and you get double the holes and get to play every club in your bag. Totally worth it for practice if you get the resident rate though. Tee times are all done online and is strongly recommended. When you book online, make sure you confirm multiple times before closing the screen and receive an email confirmation. Trust me, I made that mistake lol

This was my first time playing the course in like 8 years, and I forgot how beautiful this course is. The course itself is on the tougher side, but fun for all skill levels. It definitely challenges all different parts of your game. Even with the rain, the course drained pretty well. Bunkers were in a good shape (I'd know, I hit into plenty of them lol) Something I never experienced before in all the years playing golf was that I had to share a cart with a random player. I got paired with a group of 3, so I ended up sharing a cart with the 3rd. Luckily I'm comfortable enough to do this and the guys I played with were fun. It's something to think about if you are a single, that you might have to share a cart with a stranger. If that's not your thing, I'd prolly walk with a push cart. It's a hilly course but it's a good walk. Pace of play is a bit slow (expected on the weekends) so plan for a 5+ hour round. They had some issues with the conditions of the greens, which is much better now than it was back in the fall but at the time of writing this, they are offering a 15% off green fees, which is notated on their booking website. Recently they made a change to their parking lot, where you have to pay ($3/hr or $15/all day). On top of the green fee, you'll have to pay $15 just to park. I get it's to support the Presidio but with the green fees the prices they are I feel like that's plenty of support. Not a deal breaker but definitely carpool if you can do your group can save some cash for drinks at the turn instead. Overall, as I try to play every course in the Bay Area, price aside, is easily one of the most beautiful public courses you'll find in the Bay Area. Definitely will be playing again.

In my experience, Perform for Golf is an ordinary gym, not a golf-specific training center…read more I was intrigued by P4G's marketing, which promoted elite golf trainers, simulator access, and mental performance coaching. After a pre-call with the owner to discuss my golf goals, I signed up for the monthly subscription. Upon my first visit, I was surprised to learn that my trainer doesn't play golf and doesn't have extensive experience training golfers, but rather specializes in post-natal training for new mothers. The onboarding email told me to bring a 7-iron to my session for swing analysis, but I was informed onsite that I wouldn't need it, as they don't do swing assessments at the Hayes Valley location (maybe they do at other locations). My assessment used none of the technology showcased in this video: https://www.performforgolf.com/how-it-works and had nothing golf-specific. Just some basic stretches and ordinary dumbbell exercises. Aside from the golf branding, the only aspect of the gym that appeared tailored to golf was access to the Titleist TPI mobile app. They highlight that their trainers are TPI certified; however, in researching the program, it appears one can get certified with only ~10 hours of self-paced videos. Hardly the level of elite golf experience that the website testimonials from professional golfers led me to believe. The facility is an ordinary gym. A few mats, racks of free weights, benches, etc. Serviceable, but standard. They do have golf simulators, which members have access to although I didn't have the chance to see one. I had to purchase a package of personal training sessions up front before my initial assessment. My unused sessions were not refunded after my first visit didn't live up to expectations. If you want an ordinary gym with personal training and its locations are convenient, Perform for Golf may be a great option for you. If you're serious about golf and looking for a golf-specific training center, this product falls short of the company's marketing.

Unfortunately, my experience has been very disappointing…read more I cancelled my membership in January 2025, but the gym continued charging me monthly for several months afterward. When I eventually noticed and contacted them, management confirmed they had received my cancellation and admitted the charges were a mistake. I was promised a refund and later agreed to receive it in monthly installments after being told that was the only way they could process it. The first refund was supposed to be issued in mid-January, but it never came through. I followed up by email and phone, and I've received no response. Mistakes happen, but the lack of accountability, missed commitments, and silence afterward are what really concern me. I would recommend being very cautious and keeping detailed records if you choose to do business here.

(Too bad there aren't more reviews of golf pros on here!)…read more I'm a 18 handicapper struggling to find consistency in my game - I wanted to meet with Dan to get a swing check up. Dan's a super nice guy, he had nothing but nice things to say and is a really positive teacher - I think this is key especially for beginners. Technically I think Dan did a good job focusing on the part of my swing that was broken and not focusing on the parts of my swing that are just different (e.g. my grip etc.). It definitely wasn't not a cookie cutter "lets work on your grip, then your takeaway, etc." approach. Dan gave me 2-3 very tangible tips that I think will eventually save me 1-3 strokes and I would definitely come back to him (and recommend him) if I come back for a lesson again. He even gave me range balls after the lesson. Only negative would be that 30 minutes ($80) is too short, and $150 for an hour is out of my price range. If I could I'd get together a group of 3-4 14-24 handicappers and do a 90 minute group lesson for (presumably) the same rate. So in summary - great guy, very enjoyable/helpful lesson and I think could be a good coach for a wide range of players. How I found Dan: New to SF and not lucky enough to be part of a club so I went to my nearest course and pick Dan based on a couple decent online references.

I'd give Dan 5 stars but for the $90 per 30 min lesson.... then again, I feel like I got my money's…read moreworth. In one lesson he fixed my irons, in the next he fixed my driver. Now don't get me wrong, I went to the range several times after each lesson and was good at first, then terrible as I either over corrected or went back to my old habits, but then it just clicked. This morning i was hitting 220 to 250 yard drives into the wind when 200 has always my best. I'm booked for a 3rd lesson because I was screwing up my driver so badly yesterday on the range, that I was sure I'd never fix it on my own, but then I remembered Dan's insistance on swing plane, and I tried what felt like a crazy low and wide sweeping back and thru swing - and BAM I hit a monster drive perfectly straight. A little tinkering and I hit something like 20 in a row that would count as my best drives ever if I were on a golf course. What i liked about Dan is that I told him I'm more or less a once per year golfer which happens during an annual vacation when I'll get in 4 or 5 rounds, and my trip was coming up and I just wanted some basic help. So he gave me some really basic and easy to emulate tips. It is more or less completely different than my previous swing, but really, really simple too. After this morning I don't feel like I "need" a 3rd lesson.... but then again I am having trouble switching btwn my irons and the driver - they are pretty different swings. So if another $90 has me doing that - man will I be excited to see how that translates on the golf course. I'm not a beginner - I've taken lessons in the past - the last time 10 years or so ago, so I'm not sure that a beginner would have instant success. Then again, I had really bad and ingrained wrist and swing plane issues - so who knows. But for me - 3 lessons and 6 or 7 buckets of balls to hit the ball the way I did this morning.... amazing. As someone else said - skip the new driver and go with the lessons.
