This is an older muni course (maybe 100 years old) but renovated within the last 25 years to make…read moreit PGA Tour sanctioned, so tournaments could be played here. Very rare for a muni course to be given these specs. So now this ain't your basic muni course anymore, it is now more premium...in greenkeeping, in price and demand to play. This was my first time playing on SF soil and I play almost weekly. I've played a few spots in Monterey, Half Moon Bay and this course has visually the same terrain, with coastal wet mornings and cypress trees all over. Now this course has no ocean views, but Lake Merced is visible from a few holes. I was enamored with the cypress tree lined fairways and the beautifully maintained grass all over. Now with all this high level groundskeeping, though beautiful is also where all the challenge is here. Because this course is fairly flat, they're using the cut of the grass to be the challenge or the penalty. The rough cuts here are borderline insane. A good challenge for a pro/near scratch golfer but very penalizing and difficult for an average to high handicapper. A 3 inch rough doesn't sound too bad, but it is long enough that if your ball touches this rough it will 1) be hard to find, unless you are on top of it; 2) lose any roll/distance as once in this rough, the ball will catch and stop, giving you a longer distance for your next shot; 3) it is hard to make a connection in this rough so that next shot will usually not be flush/ideal. So the basic gist of this place is 'stay away from the rough'. But for an average golfer that is just so improbable. Even a nice shot to a green that may miss just by a couple of feet could easily find this rough. And to be that close and to have a very difficult shot as a result, is just too much for me to swallow. Just took the fun out of the game...for me. So a tad too difficult for me, also pricier than what I could do on a weekly basis. $150 to walk on a weekend. My regular golf buds and I usually play much performance friendly courses for about $70ish. So this is definitely more of a special occasion type place. I still want to come back someday and see how I fare now that I know how things roll...or more accurately how they don't.

I went to the driving range here and it was so beautiful! A medium trek to get to if you only use…read morepublic transportation but you walk through some nice views as well.

Hubby & I've been wanting to improve our golf game for quite sometime. What motivated us to…read morefinally do it was the Living Social offer. Yes, I experienced the same with Mitch not returning my message. It's because he's busy teaching. I sent him an email instead, and he promptly returned my phone call. Since then, you book your lessons online. Just take a look at his availability. Easy. Hubby and I spent an introductory hour with Mitch. We liked his style of coaching and his explanations made a lot of sense. We felt so comfortable with him that we signed up for 12 hours of semi-private lessons with him on the spot. We are still his students. Forget the text book techniques. Mitch can evaluate you and offer tips and help to improve your golf game for sure. I've told Mitch over and over that I can use a mini-Mitch when I'm on the course. He's the best. I didn't realize how good he was until I read his bio weeks into our lessons. I'm glad. His credentials are awesome! I think I woulda been way too intimidated.

There are a million different tips and tricks on how to improve your golf game on the internet…read more.. videos, step by steps etc, and I've tried em all. The thing is, none of these resources can watch your swing with an experienced eye like Mitch's. I considered myself an advanced amatuer, having only been playing for about a year, but was feeling like I had hit a plateau in my game. I bought a lesson 3 pack from Mitch and I feel that having completed 3 1 hour lessons with him my game is on track to improve significantly. Mitch has an easy going no attitude approach to helping you work on your game, and is very good at listening to you about the areas that you would like to improve and then focusing on those. Highly recommended for anyone looking to take their game up a notch, and their handicap down.

His teaching style is relaxed yet focused, his approach is respectful, and the results have changed my game. You don't have to be a member at LMGC to take lessons from Dan, just call the pro shop and work with them to find a time on his calendar that works for you. The day of your lesson be sure *not* to wear jeans, and show up early to get warmed up on the range before the lesson. Even if the driving range is set up on mats, lessons with Dan are on grass. Crucial, that. Dan's rates are reasonable, and he always gives me a full hour lesson. On Wednesdays and Saturdays he sets up a digital video camera/laptop combination that enables him to do real-time swing analysis during your lesson. If you are a golf geek you'll relish the opportunity to see yourself in super-slow-motion with lines drawn in for swing plane at address, takeaway and impact. At the end of every lesson we review everything and go over the four or five keys to focus on. He always takes time with me to make sure what we covered has sunk in, and will be repeatable when I'm playing or practicing on my own. In addition to lessons on the range he also does walking lessons on the Lake Merced Golf Club course. Most importantly are results: Dan has helped my game immensely, and has been fun to learn from while doing it. When I finally do break 90 this guy is going to get at least half of the credit.

The stairmasters have been broken for some time now with the first one being broken for 2-3 months. One by one they broke & now they're all broken. I understand gym equipment can break from time to time but the fact that ALL stairmasters are broken, 30% of ellipticals are broken, a handful of treadmills, & the weight machines upstairs are missing pins, broken cables, etc is just pitiful from a gym like this. VARIOUS THINGS HAVE BEEN BROKEN FOR MONTHSSSS!!! The LEAST they could do is communicate to us what is going on & what they are doing to rectify this situation. I usually do not write reviews unless necessary to make a change to the establishment. I hope this review finds its way to someone who can do something Side note: this gym also is starting to have an issue with people hogging machines while doomscrolling on their phones between sets as they are "resting". If that grind your gears, this is a heads up. Side side note: notice how management only replies to "positive reviews"; this is a critical review from an intermediate gym goer(3 years of hypertrophy training) for some context.
