Service ok and food was ok if prepared correctly. We ordered WELL DONE (NO PINK) not what we received. He is very picky about his meat being WELL DONE especially his STEAK. I on the other hand don't mind RARE meat. I ate his food and he mine. Sounds romantic but I really wanted my NOT SPICY CHICKEN AND SHRIMP pasta. Yes again not impressed wasn't SPICY at all. I'm not sure we will go back not impressed with our overall ok service and food. We can get ok McDonalds and know the meat is cooked. If I could give ZERO stars, I would ... I was craving something Italian, went to the Door Dash app, and this was the first place that came up. I ordered the family dish for "Handmade Parmesan" with grilled chicken. Apparently this dish comes with nothing else (not even bread), so I ordered the add on family salad w/Cheesecake. First, the "Handmade Parmesan" dish had ZERO cheese (no parmesan or mozarella). The whole purpose of wanting this dish was the cheese factor so ZERO stars for this screw up. For $40, they can't even include bread ...nothing else comes with it and it's not that large of a dish; the chicken is small cuts as well and did not taste very good. To make things even "better", the dish arrived COLD! - no semblance of heat. The family salad looks mostly like the cheap iceberg lettuce (as the parmesan chicken was god awful, I lost my appetite for the salad). One slice of cheesecake came with the "family" salad ... I was expecting smaller slices that could be shared since this was supposed to be a "family" meal, but I only got one large slice with a crappy premade strawberry "puree" ... for the price, they could have easily put in real sliced strawberries. All told with delivery & tip, this "meal" cost me $76! Other than the cheesecake (without the "puree"), everything else is going in the trash. The so-called family parmesan chicken dish was a complete disappointment. I will NOT be a repeat customer. read more

Sad day... This place has gone down hill. I love Italian food and was really looking forward to this dinner. Probably the most disappointing dish was the eggplant Parma. The red sauce on it was a very dark off putting color. It also tasted like something was just not right. Luckily we had a second plate at the table that was a bit more tasty. This was extremely disappointing. They are gouging prices for frozen meat and cheap pasta. My food came out looking like something a babies does in their diaper. SpaghettiOs has a better flavor profile. The interior looks like an 80s funeral home. The service is sleeping. The only redeeming quality about this dinner... It had cheese. read more

A dissapointing experience with the food. I ordered the alfredo meal with calamari and the tiramisu for a nice Friday dinner. The order was delivered in a super speedy manor, but I was shorted my salad, and calamari. The alfredo did not taste good. It tasted almost chemical, similar to the pre-made jars you buy at the grocery store. Maybe the in house dining experience is better but I don't believe I'd try it this place again. read more

I've never had any issues with Carino's. I know what to expect here. It's a chain restaurant. We came here for dinner b/c we thought we knew what to expect. consistent food. My experience was not consistent. The food was just... off. The service was horrible. I don't know if this is the waiter's first day or what. Usually they have someone with them while training but this waitress. Sigh. I understand for new staff, busy time and short staff but it was just horrible. We rarely saw our server, when she was around, it would take her at least 10 minutes to get back to us!! I'm not sure how they set up her tables but we would see her hurry into the back and not come out for a while. When I need something, I watch for my server and I felt like I was watching for her the whole meal. Rarely check in on us. We just wanted to get in and out quickly but that was not the case. So the food, I usually just get the Jalapeno Garlic Tilapia. It's consistent. I like the tilapia and the spicy level. This time it was just bland. No flavor, no spice. HOW?!? I guess it's always hit or miss. Hope they get more staffing and/or that server found a new place to suck at. read more

So first impressions, not impressed. For a Friday evening, restaurant was 1/2 empty, and service was slow. The bathrooms were slippery on the ground, and it looks like they don't have enough staff. We ordered Chicken Marsala and Lasagna as well as a Chianti and a Robert Mondavi Cabernet. The first set of wine showed up as "white", and we had to tell our server we ordered "red". After 20 min, we were informed that the lasagna would take about 45-1hour and the Mgr asked my wife if she wanted to change her order, which she did. Then the kitchen Mgr came out and said she had miscounted the lasagna so it was back on the menu. Our orders came out, and were surprisingly tasty. While the chicken was not "pounded flat", it was a generous portion. The lasagna was nice. However, the highlight was the fact we were asked over and over if we had order "another salad", "another glass of wine", "an appetizer ", etc. I think they may need a bit more training. I'm fairly sure we would not return. read more

So, JC's bbq is horrible!! No smoke flavor at all. It's likely cooked in an oven. Not sure how the grill lines are on the ribs, clever. I would not recommend to anyone!! read more

This was supposed to be a nice birthday lunch but sadly it wasn't. The Food was bland and cold. Chicken was semi-cooked as was the bacon on my wedge salad. I ended up leaving both because of the fear of both being undercooked. I don't want to risk food poisoning. The waiter was no where to be found and when he finally came around to ask for refills he stated he was busy. The dining area only had 5 tables filled so I was confused. Macaroni Grill knockoff that never recovered from Covid. Staffed by roughly four people at any given time, expect long waits and forgotten orders. The employees are shellshocked from trying to operate a restaurant that no longer has the resources to accommodate more than handful of tables without collapsing onto itself. They'd be better off shutting down and converting into a food truck. read more

Honestly, probably the worst dining experience I've ever had. We waited about 5 min for someone to greet us. They weren't even busy, which should have been our first red flag on a Saturday night. There was no hostess to be found. The guy at the Togo stand finally came over and sat us. We sat in a booth in the bar area closest to the kitchen. The bar and doorway to the waitress area reeked of mildew? I'm not sure what it was, but there was definitely a stench. Second Red flag...The woman from the bar was waiting on us, she was wonderful. The kitchen took 15 min just to get bread. We ordered the artichoke dip, which came with puffy tortilla chips. These tasted like they were stale and then fried. We sent them back. The second batch wasn't much better. Third Red flag. Next came our Cesar salads. Why were these extremely tangy/sour? Like make your mouth pucker sour? I ate it anyways because I haven't eaten the last three days due to food poisoning, so I was starving. My husband ordered the chicken parm with Alfredo and he had extreme difficulty cutting the chicken. It was definitely overcooked, dry and the sauce looked a little strange. He said it was like the cheapest canned sauce and it tasted off. My daughter had the 5 meat Tuscan. Again, she said the sauce was awful. It tasted sour. My meal was the artichoke Angel Hair with meat sauce. Mine was also sour. The only thing good was the bread. After letting the waitress know that the appetizer was bad, it gets embarrassing if we're having to complain about every single plate other than bread and drinks. We just kept quiet after the appetizers. Someone lied on their resume in your kitchen. Messing up one meal, it happens. Every single thing was trash. How do you do that? We packaged it up and debated on giving it to a homeless person, but decided against it. It's so bad,I wouldn't feed this to them. We're not coming back. By the looks of this place, I wouldn't be shocked if it shut down in the next year or so. read more

Recently dined in at this location. Actually our first time eating inside any restaurant since Feb. of 2020. The Staff all masked, from front desk to all wait staff. Tables, booths all socially distanced by "blocking off" one in between the others. I know some people think things are back to normal, but this certainly made us feel better. I believe customer's masks were optional, but even though we are fully vaccinated, we wore ours when not at table. Now, the food was just as good as ever and our server was fantastic! We love the pasta dishes here, and we're not disappointed. Our only wish is that they would open a location closer to us!! read more

Amazing place! We've been coming here for years. Happy hour is the reason I came in but when I developed multiple food allergies they are very accommodating. HUGE FAN. For first timers - ASK THE SERVER what is the best...the chicken alfredo and chicken parmigiana - you can get anywhere - they have some truly amazing dishes - you just have to know what to order. My favorite is the new pork cops YUM tender, not tough. Love that they make it all to order (I have allergy to garlic - no problem for them to make my dishes without) They have a free rewards system and KIDS EAT FREE every time we go with this card - another reason why we love. We also go on Mondays, they have family size portions that serve my family of 4 for half price - we walked out of there for $15 last week. Value is there. We like to sit in the bar in Round Rock, we get the best service there and they have booths. read more

This is the first time my wife and I have been here and the last. Nothing tasted fresh except the bread. Artichoke dip tasted old, rubbery, and reheated. Calamari was bland and rubbery, the marinara sauce was watered down to the point that it just drips off the the piece you just dipped. Chicken Alfredo pasta had chicken that tasted rubbery and reheated. Johnny's famous tri tip sandwich was again gross. The meat was drenched in so much oil that the onion frys were soggy and the bottom of the bun fell apart when I attempted to pick it up. It had the textural feeling of lumpy mashed potatoes. I've been to Carino's twice in the past 20 years and both times did not enjoy it. However, it's been probably ten since the last visit and I figured it was due another shot. Third time was not a charm. The bartender had a lovely demeanor, which is the only saving grace. The house Cabernet while waiting was not bad. However the wait itself was way too long, even for a Sunday night dinner rush, which I understand. The pizza box was not warm which should have been my first clue upon finally receiving our order. When I got home, the pizza was completely cold and, even my normally will eat it outta the fridge leftover cold pizza eating husband, could not eat it. It was also $11 for what appeared to be a 6" only cheese pizza. My seafood entree was not bad, but the seafood was overcooked. I feel like this set in the window for a long while before getting boxed to go. The Caesar salad lettuce was mostly stalks and ends and already turning brown, at that. I love this place. Ive been going here for years an never had a bad experience. Ive tried everything from pasta, lasagna, chicken parmesan, grilled chicken salad, shrimp scampi, and the list goes on. Customer service is always on point. Food is always hot and fresh. Italian cream vanilla soda is a favorite and must get at every visit. It's never busy. They always have a table ready an plenty of staff to keep up. Whomever is running this establishment is doing a great job an I apperciate it!! read more

Well, I must say I had great memories of Johnnys Carino's when I was little. Perhaps as a kid things were much better, who knows? The wait staff were trying their best but corporate is mainly to blame for the absolute implosion of this once great food chain. It's a pale reflection of what use to be. The food was okay, but not worth the price they were charging. The bread dip was made with dried garlic, which is cost and time effective, but shows a lack of care towards the customers. But hey, Corporate can afford another G6, amiright? Anything to keep those stock options up. The Ambiance has also been whittled down into nothing but AI art, corporate ideas of what Italy is (never take cultural cues from people only worship money), and decor that has hung on since 1998. It's a food chain, I get it. But with corporates relentless pursuit of saving a buck, its killed the very thing that made it great, its food, its people and its ambiance. I really enjoyed my dinner at Carinos. We walked in on a Saturday night at 8:00 pm, they were busy, the hostess told me there was a 40 minutes wait. We decided to wait, an in about 45 minutes we were seated. The waitress was very nice and knowledgeable of the menu. I ordered a Lasagna and my friend had the Fettuccini Alfredo. Both dishes were very tasty. It is a inexpensive place, were you just go and eat. But for a casual dinner, it's perfect. It's always a shame when the manager of an establishment is the WORST example in the place. Manager Scott Gaskill brought us our order and could not have been more rude. We asked him for cheese and you would think he had to go to Alaska to get it. It's a shame since we have eaten here in the past when we come to visit, but the service has never been this bad. Upon walking to the door, your darling Hostess, Jennifer, smiled as she held the door open for us as if to say: "We're glad you're here." WOW. Total vibe setter. She set the tone and made us feel immediately welcomed. We chose a booth in the bar area and I immediately settled in to the comfy seat. The A/C was perfect and flatscreens adorned the walls. I loved the vibe and looking around my senses absorbed all the activity and hustle and bustle. One thing stood out. Every employee genuinely appeared to love what they were doing.
