Worst customer service. The guy that served us tonight was clearly high and paid no attention to what we ordered and brought us wrong food

This is he 2nd time my hubby and I come here, service and food are great. We had the Parmesan chicken and cheesy ravioli, flavor and price were good. Cesar salad was really good as well We had our plates super quick after we ordered, specially for a Friday night . Dined at Carinos December 8th. Review is late but wanted to commend a waiter named Kyah. He is what a waiter to me should be. Attentive, polite, and respectful. We are an older generation couple and dining is special to us. Kyah made sure our needs were met, checked on us frequently to ensure our drinks were filled and delivered just excellent service. The food was very good. All in all we had a very enjoyable dining experience and will go back again. Hopefully Kyah will still be working there! read more

I always loved their food in Colorado. However they closed their restaurants. I was pleasantly surprised to find a Carino's in Austin. I am shocked by the negative reviews. The taste of their food has always been consistent. My picky eater best friend and I spent many Friday nights eating at Carino's. My favorite dish is the pasta with chicken, bell peppers, onions and red chili peppers in a cast iron skillet. They finally have gluten free pasta!! I still love their food. read more

Their margarita pizza and cheese pizza was liked by my party and the kids but otherwise they have limited choices for vegetarians and gluten sensitive folks. We go to Johnny Carino's about once a week. We love the spaghetti and Italian nachos. There's always great service when we dine in. We also use curbside pickup when we want to to eat at home. Two for one Tuesdays is so nice. My husband and and I enjoy the great food at a bargain price. read more

So this Location in the past this Location has typically been subpar. The portions very small for the $ amount. Skimpy on the proteins, hot salad bowls and wilted salad. Today though! Today was a VAST improvement! 1. Salad came with cold salad bowls. Crisp lettuce and even coated with dressing. Portion size on point. 2. Italian Nachos Appetizer was presented nicely on the plate. We ordered the smaller portion which came stacked with plenty of toppings and actually covered the entire plate. 3. Chicken Bow tie pasta came in steaming hot and had more than 4 pieces of chicken! Again portions were healthy and not lacking on sauce either. As well as my husbands pasta order too. 4. Kids pizza came out hot and not burnt. Holy canoli, do not waste your time or money on this establishment. Service is spotty. The wait staff seems to be in the weeds all the time. My pizza was made wrong the first time then rushed the second time. 2 slices in I asked my hubby to try it. The dough was not cooked!! We sent it back, they started it all over again, meanwhile my family had finished eating. We are now sitting here for 39 minutes and ny New pizza is still in the oven. I love this place. They have a great happy hour and the food, service, and atmosphere won't diappoint. if you don't mind that it's a little Americanized. And it's CLEAN! I've always enjoyed the happy hour specials but the last time I went for dinner. I explained that I have a milk allergy and they prepared an awesome salmon fillet and sides without the butter or sprinklings of parmesan. I didn't get any attitude whatsoever for my special request, and the food was really just fantastic. The fish didn't taste "fishy" at all and was a nice fresh cut. I also noticed that the manager took an interest in my order, and I assume he was making sure it was cooked as ordered. This place gets an A+ and I will definitely go again. We stopped for lunch today , my first time,in a Johnny Carinos. I will not be going back. Service was fine the problem was in what was served. The food is bathed in oil and heated. I had Pasta Primavera with chicken: greasy pasta, greasy tiny amount of vegetables and I had difficulty finding the minuscule amounts of greasy chicken. This was preceded by a calamari appetizer which tasted like it had been repeatedly deep fried and totally lacked any texture or taste. The house salad and bread were the only parts of the meal edible. A bad lunch for two people costs more than forty dollars including tip. I can't see any reason for a repeat visit to Johnny Carinos. read more

I walked in, no hostess for 5 minutes, 10 minute wait so we park and then get seated, move seat soon because cold wind from front door blows right into the dining room. Trash on the floor the whole time we were there, even with workers walking by it over n over again. Carpet was so worn it looked like there was no actual carper on the floor. The waiter didn't write down our orders and got the salad wrong (dressing) so that was replaced, only about 1tablespoon of dressing so i had to ask for more. Food came out in good time mine was wrong even after he came back and asked again what my order was, he quickly brought out the chicken parmigiana which to me was obviously frozen n microwaved with some sauce on top, served on a cold plate. By that time we weren't hungry so we packed it all up and brought it home. Our niece had the leftover rosemary chicken and pasta at home and then had diarrhea all night. Needless to say we will not be returning.EVER. For the (lack of) quality of food and the look inside the place itself the meals are way overpriced, management and ownership is obviously lacking at this location, cant speak to other locations. read more

It seen everybody received their advertising where you can have dinner for two at $19.99 until Feb 10, 2008. I think this restaurant just recently open at Southpark Meadows. Me and my other half went there since we want something cheap to eat. I have visited other locations and this location was pack on Friday night. I guest, since just it open or as mention before people received their ad in the mail and everybody decide to go and take advantage of it. The food was good. Even thought the place was busy, the server was always coming around even thought not in timely fashion. Since this is the first time going this location and it seen that it just open, I will pay another visit when things have calm down. When the best things on your menu are the free bread and the dessert, that's probably a sign. The bread with olive oil and roasted garlic and herbs and pepper and salt is divine. PROVIDED that the bread is hot and fresh. If they try to pawn off a cold loaf on you, send that back. The food is Olive Gardenesque. Super heavy on sauce and butter, nothing especially wonderful. The veal is probably the best they have to offer. The best dessert by far is the lemon torte. The lemon cream filling delight in the middle, mmmmm. That's a plate-licking good dessert. I eat until I don't feel good any more every time I go here. It's not fancy, but I really like the food here. I get fried mozzarella every time. Otherwise, they do chicken parm well, and most of the pasta dishes are tasty. Normally after eating apps, salad, and multiple loaves of the hot bread, the entree goes into a to go contained after a few bites. The pasta dishes reheat well. Normally I sit at a table in the bar area. The service varies a lot from visit to visit. If you're in a hurry, they are very good about bringing out all of your food very quickly if you request it. read more

Even if they gave out free food no one would care. There they sit, all lonely, wanting customers, but no one will show up the the Italian Meh-Style Slophouse. I just realized they are located between a Denny's and a Rudy's. That's kind of appropriate, you know. Denny's = "Eek! Methinks not", Carino's is "Meh, I've experienced better", and Rudy's is "Yay! I normally go to the location on Brodie and has never had a problem with them before. Should have gone there tonight... but this location is close to home. Our waitress was very attentive and that is probably the only reason why I even gave this a 2 star review. I ordered the Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and added a side of extra meat. The dish was very saucy and so I asked for a little more Spaghetti to stir in. The waitress was very gracious and said she would grab some more for me... however the manager told her that she would have to charge me an extra $2+... Asked for a to-go container and took my plate home to add some more noodles to it so that I could eat it. Dessert: Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream. The Lava Cake was colder than the ice cream. The only good part about my visit tonight. The friendly waitress. And that was the only reason why I tipped 20%. This was the last time my family and I visit this establishment. This place offered some of the worst customer service I have experienced in a long time. After being seated in a booth with my wife, sleeping infant daughter, and mother-in-law, it took roughly 8-10 minutes for our waiter to stop by and gather our drink order. His excuse was that he was not our waiter, he was stopping by to help Allison? the waitress while she was busy. Okay, cool. So he comes to drop off our drinks, by that time we're ready to order. He looks nervous and quickly bails out of the situation before we had time to say "We're ready to order now." So we're waiting and waiting, still no sign of this mystery waitress he told us about. So he comes back and takes our order. We were hungry and got some Calamari as an appetizer. I shrug off the long wait and give them the benefit of the doubt, that maybe they're understaffed and overwhelmed. Fine. 15 minutes later. no calamari, no mystery waitress, no service period. Finally our food arrives. Pizza for me. The ladies split the pork chops. OH! And there's that Calamari we ordered. It came with our meal. None of us even wanted it at that point. The whole point of an appetizer is to have it come out before the meal. Here's how Merriam-Webster's defines "Appetizer" : "A small dish of food or a drink taken before a meal to stimulate one's appetite." Anyway, the pork chops were cold, as my mother-in-law had expected after having reportedly stared at her plate sitting on the Expo Counter for an inappropriate length of time. My pizza left a lot to be desired as well. Very doughy. As I picked up the first slice, I watched as all the cheese, sauce, and toppings slide off the doughy triangle like an avalanche. Pathetic. Sensing our disappointment, the waiter stopped by and commented on how terrible my pizza looked and offered to get me another one. I respectfully declined his offer and stated that I'd rather it just be removed from the bill as I had lost my appetite. I mentioned the pork chops were cold too, so they warmed those up for us. The manager came by to apologize for the pizza, but partially blamed my choice of toppings for the pizza falling apart. Seriously? Chicken, onions, and bell peppers?! While the manager is giving us a half-assed apology, our mystery waitress finally swings by to drop off our recently heated up pork chops. By this time my sleeping infant daughter is fully awake and I guess she could feel the tension cause she was quite angry. I picked her up and walked her around the perimeter a couple times. I just had to get out of here. Anyway, the pizza was removed from the bill, and we were given free dessert. My wife & went here last week for a quick dinner. This was the best Carino's we've been to in a long time! Our server, Rujezza, was incredible- the best we have experienced in Austin in a long time. The complimentary bread was hot and fresh, the salad came on a cold salad bowl (that doesn't happen too often!). We ordered the rosemary chicken, and shared it. The chicken was flavorful, and cooked perfectly. We got a huge portion, perfect for sharing. My iced tea was delicious, and my wife had a glass of white wine that was chilled perfectly. We will definitely be back another time- and we will request Rujezza! Only downside- the restaurant was freezing cold! You will need a sweater for sure. read more

Went here for an early dinner with my boyfriend. Service was eh, our waiter was also bartending, but it was pretty dead so I am just under the impression that he just didn't care. He put our order in incorrectly, my boyfriend had ordered the pecan salmon salad, ended up with some gross chicken salad that was not only bland but gross. Our server never once asked us how the food was, I had to flag him down and let him know. I had the lobster ravioli, so delicious. We both started off with the calamari, fried to perfection. Made a spur of the moment decision to drop into this Carino's on our way back from San Marcos. It was a late lunch on a Saturday so there was no wait. My wife and I split the sampler which came with the Lasagna, Chicken Parm, and Spaghetti w/ meatballs. Lots of warm fresh bread before receiving our lunch. Red sauce for Spaghetti is SPICY - but yum. Meatballs really good. Loved the Chicken - crispy and juicy Lasagna - WOW - huge - especially for a sampler. Actually took that home for lunch the next day. It was good - not great. lots of Ricotta and needed a bit more meat. For the value though this was a great choice. Service was very good as well. We rarely get to this part of town but would not hesitate to return when back in the area. read more
