I hired H2O Away to remedy the situation. They sent some guys out. I checked the crawlspace afterwards and the work wasn't completed. After some back and forth they sent a different crew out. They also put a dehumidifier down there as agreed. Unfortunately the dehumidifier was pointless as the work still wasn't completed and the mold wasn't remedied. The original person I spoke to ghosted me but I found someone else to talk to. They offered to come out and try a third time but we agreed instead to terminate our business relationship and pay a discounted amount. I get that paying for staff and equipment costs money, but in the end I still paid about $2k for services that had approximately $0 value to me as I still needed to do the work myself. A contractor friend of mine said to be really careful about who you get to work in your crawlspace. Companies that work down there get the lowest paid, least qualified guys to do those undesirable jobs. As at my house, they often don't actually complete the work because most homeowners won't go down there to verify it was actually done. I am inclined to agree. I would guess that many of the positive reviews are from people who trusted that the work was done rather than verifying it themselves. The picture is from after their second visit. Stay way from H2O Away.

They did come really quickly, but all they did when they got there was mark what was wet. It was odd. This happened right before we went on vacation, and luckily they said they would be able to take care of it in the week we were out of town. In my mind- take care of it meant get everything fixed, I was so wrong. The day we were flying home, an HVAC guy we had never met or been in contact with called to say he could not install our heat because our house was such a mess. I was shocked and called H20 Away to see what had happened. Our coordinator was not in contact with the people who were at our house and had no idea. We ended up coming home from our trip to no heat, no water, and a house that looked like it had been torn up by animals. We had NO idea they were going to remove our shower, all of our cabinets and countertops, our stove, and our HVAC. This was all done without our knowledge. Our coordinator and scheduler never really knew what was happening inside the house, which was super challenging. The project took about a month, with barely any progress happening on each visit. We also had a different HVAC guy show up at 9:30 PM on a Tuesday. I called H20 away to ask about it and they said they gave him our door code and figured we wouldn't be home. WTF? This scared us. I was grateful they worked with our insurance directly, but they really misled us in terms of the scope of work, how long it would take, the quality of the work, etc. Our house is completely torn up. The contractor they recommended we work with to fix it has 2 stars on Yelp, so I will just be cutting contact with them going forward since our insurance has already paid them out (for an OBSCENE amount based on the work they did). The people are nice and they came over quickly, but the work itself as well as the communication and schedule was super disappointing.

I had the pleasure of working with Randy. We needed repairs done in our master bathroom, where the roof had failed, and left a huge mold spot on our ceiling. The spores had also spread over time, and left a musty smell in the house. Randy was very professional, showed up on-time for our initial consultation, and honest about his assessment. Admittedly, it took us a couple of weeks before we reached out to schedule an appointment (life happens!), and we were pleasantly surprised that Randy was unavailable due to business travel regarding mold solutions - that's a man dedicated to his job! There ended up being a scheduling conflict with the original work day, but Randy called us to make sure we would be okay with the slight delay. He still finished the work well within our time frame, and we are thoroughly happy with the results! The ceiling looks great now and there's no more musty smell in the house!

I was out of town, but requested he contact either my husband or my realtor to clear the quote prior to receiving services. On 8/18 my realtor was contacted and asked if Mike could stop by earlier. It was not made clear that by earlier he meant that day (8/18). Services were completed without any discussion or agreement to a quote. According to my Ring doorbell Mike arrived at 11:04 am and left at 12:16 pm. The total cost of the services completed were more than my husband, realtor, and I would have agreed to pay for. Due the fact that we were not offered a quote prior to services completed, we did not have the opportunity to deny services. On 8/20, my husband stopped by our unoccupied home to discover that the door had been left unlocked by Mike. Our realtor had left a lock box with our key and provided Mike with the access code to unlock and lock our door. This means our home was left unlocked, while unoccupied to 2 full days. Upon discussion, our realtor contacted Mike to discuss our displeasure with the way services were completed without a quote agreement and that our front door to our home was left unlocked. We felt that we should have been offered some sort of price reduction off of the cost of the services completed without our consent and for our home being left unsecured. Unfortunately, we were offered nothing and have been left with a sour taste for the way Mike handled business with us.

His office (Darcy) contacted me that evening and confirmed 2:30pm. The next day Ron calls me at 11am and tells me he is almost to my house!? What?? Okay, fine simple misunderstanding. I had water damage and Ron asked for $1000 to pull everything off to see what the damage was all about. I was fine with this. I received an invoice that night and responded that I wanted to proceed. I never heard anything back. I called 3 days later and still never heard anything back. Finally, a week and 1/2 later, I get a call and Ron says he can start the next Tuesday at 8:30am. I took Tuesday off of work to be there at 8:30am for Ron to start. 8:30am comes and goes and no Ron. I call Ron and get no explanation for why he wasn't there when he said he would be, but he tells me he can be there by 11:30am. Ron shows up at 11:30am with one young guy and didn't appear ready to work. I had a trusted friend over with some experience in home repair so the two of us could talk to Ron and agree on exactly what we were going to do. Ron did NOT like this at all. I started asking Ron about what approach he would take to address the water damage issues and he also did NOT like this. Ron was completely unreliable and had serious issues when it came to explaining how he would fix things or deal with issues that might come up doing this job. This is a MAJOR red flag. Ron had a completely unprofessional and unacceptable attitude with my wife, my friend, and myself I have no idea what kind of work Ron does or would have done since he didn't do the job, but anytime someone gets an attitude when you ask them questions about how they will do things, I'd guess it wouldn't have been good work. We called several emergency water restoration companies, but Green Planet Restoration was the only one able send someone out to access our situation that day. David, our field supervisor, thoroughly inspected the damage and gave us an honest and careful outlook about the restoration process. Optimistically planning on insurance coverage, but realistically expecting denial, he made sure that all work and costs were approved by us before and throughout the insurance process. Thankfully we ended up being covered, and David helped negotiate on our behalf. Olman, our project manager, was attentive and communicative. He kept us up to date with all the work and progress, and helped us coordinate with the workers we had coming and going for several weeks. The crew working on the house was excellent, too! Giovanni walked us through the work, and helped us when we wanted to make adjustments. We made some pretty drastic changes to our spaces, installing LVP in both rooms and painting the wall and ceiling a dark color in one of them. These big upgrades were easily handled. At no point did we ever feel like we were left hanging or out of the loop. Even throughout the payment process, with several hiccups with our insurance checks, they were kind, patient, and understanding. Green Planet Restoration and their team help make a nightmare of a situation much easier to manage. Thank you to the whole team!
