I used to go to Johnny Huston's almost every week. Hadn't been there for a while and went the other night with friends. The bun for my Guac Burger was about half the size that it used to be and was much too small for the burger, and it was stale. The burger was too big for the bun and was falling out of it. The bun fell apart as I was eating, and I didn't even finish the burger. A good bun is a must for a good burger. One of my friends ordered a burger that came with an egg on top. He asked the waitress to have the egg cooked on the hard/firm side. She said that she would put that in the order but that she couldn't guarantee it because the guys in the kitchen were "kids". We ordered the 50/50 ($14) which is a beast of a pattie with a mixture of pulled pork, ground beef, and bacon. Yea take that on for size, arteries! What came first the cooked pulled pork or the raw ground beef? I don't know, and it doesn't matter because this beautiful monstrosity was heavenly ok? The patty somehow kept a form and didn't crumble after each bite. The pulled pork gave the burger a juicy, BBQ flavor, and well you can't really go wrong with anything bacon. A tried and true test of an establishment's longevity is by ordering the simplest thing on the menu. In this case, the Ben's 5 oz burger ($8). It came with lettuce, tomato, onions, and fried pickles. The menu indicates that the burgers are a blend of chuck roast and NY Strip. I didn't necessarily taste the steak, but the burger was damn good. It wasn't chewy but had grit. Perfectly charred edges and balanced seasoning, great all around. The bun was a hardy, brioche-like bread with a peculiar aftertaste. Ordered a couple items Togo (tried to have a little sunset picnic). Took about 45 minutes (missed sunset) which is one thing but I asked specifically to have some utensils didn't get any so I couldn't even eat when I did get my food. The chorizo loaded queso is a joke. You can see the bottom of the dish after your first scoop of queso. The small basket of chips served with it was three times more than we needed. The chorizo was piled high and outweighed the rest. Their burgers also have some breadcrumbs in the patty, so a gluten-free bun offering is futile. The blackened bang-bang tacos were amazing and the only reason this review isn't one-star. Props to our waitress for handling an enormous section of tables, but we didn't get to see her much. So in love with this place!!! I got the spinach dip as a starter and it was divine! For my meal I got the "love me tender" sandwich with a side of the JH Chips. The atmosphere was great and the food was even better. Will definitely be returning next time we visit. read more

The burgers here are so tasty and the menu says it is New York steak and ground beef. Juicy, grilled with spices. Not hot ones. First time I got the chili burger on tater tots with cheese. Hubby had the shrimp grilled and it was delicious, not overdone at all I tasted one. The next day we went again hungry and ordered chips n salsa, and their 10 oz burger and split it. No BBQ but everything else. Servers are very efficient and friendly. Atmosphere quiet outside and inside there are about 15 TVs on different channels it is a bar and grille. We would go again if not traveling west. read more

Ordered a chili dog. The dog was good but the chef hardly put on any chili. It should be smothered with chili, IMO. Complained to the waitress and she said, "we get that complaint a lot." Speaking of the waitress, she seemed to be more interested in chatting up a storm with another waitress over in the corner than serving her tables and customers. Never even received a drink refill. There are other establishments in town with better customer service, and I found their prices unreasonable as well. $13.00 for a hamburger? lol read more

Great place for a burger in the Navarre area. My wife for the Alpine and I got the Western. Both were very good. The meat was quality, well cooked and juicy but did lack flavor/seasoning (Toppings is what made it). TV's all around if you're wanting to watch a game. Really cool bar out front called the Grey Taproom that we grabbed a drink from prior to. Makes for a cool date night! read more

If I would have written the review the first time I went I would have definitely gone with 5 stars, unfortunately we went this past Friday and it was not as good as my first time there. I am going to blame it on the fact that the place was packed and the kitchen was probably overwhelmed. Not an excuse but I will let it go considering that the food quality is actually good. Buffalo chicken sliders are a must as an appetizer. Bottomless fries (pretty good too actually but you have to ask for refills). I got the Pimento burger and the first time it was amazing ( I had grilled onions added to it) this past time though (other than them forgetting the grilled onions) it was SO cheesy, too cheesy. The burger was overcooked and overall I was not as impressed. If it is your first time trying it maybe give it a chance during the week and I am pretty sure you won't be disappointed! read more

I really want to give this place a chance. I went there a couple of weeks ago and ordered Ken's Alpine Burger w/sweet potato fried pickles. The fried pickles with jalapeño ranch was awesome. The burger however was bland in my opinion. I felt like the meat itself wasn't seasoned before being cooked. The sweet potato fries were also pretty good. Recently, I wanted some hot and crispy chicken wings. I ordered them online and picked them up at the restaurant. Once I got home, I could tell my wings had been sitting for a while due to the condensation in the box and of course they got soggy. I called the restaurant and got my money back. I love the food here so much, but we prefer getting it to go because the restaurant is always so full which says a lot. I do wish they would come up with a better process for takeout orders. The entry is very small and with so many people waiting for a table and takeout orders, you get lost in the shuffle. They should check out what McGuires did in Pensacola for takeout. They created an outdoor area to filter out the to go orders so they can keep their smaller entry open for dine in guests. read more

Crazy story that culminated in me being in a craigslist rideshare car that dropped me off in Navarre. I needed a place to sit for a while until my friend can pick me up and the rideshare folks got excited about KCCO beer that they saw advertised outside. They go in, and of course the restaurant is out of stock. I got two glasses of wine while waiting for about an hour and half. They purportedly had wifi but it didn't work so I was stuck there alternating between staring at the patterns on the ceiling and staring at other patrons. That's when I think I went a lil out of my mind and threw away my credit card (by accident). The last charge was from this place and I do remember getting rid of a card there that I thought was my hotel room key but I guess wasn't. The servers were very pushy with me and it was kind of awkward. I felt bad having to wait there but I felt they were watching my wine glass like a hawk. It's loud inside which isn't terrible. Waitress takes order. Somebody else brings the food. They don't ask if you need anything. Waitress comes five minutes later to ask. So I had to wait five minutes to ask for some tartar sauce so my shrimp po boy didn't choke me to death because it didn't coke with enough mayo for me. Then she never came to ask if we needed any refills. So I had to wait until she brought the check to ask for a tea to go. Also it's Father's Day and the waitresses told all the fathers within ear shot their meals were half off today because it's Father's Day. Was my meal half off? Nope. Besides all that my fried shrimp Po boy was great after I put more Mayo on it. My Wife likes her blackened shrimp tacos. My daughters didn't really like their burgers. The buns are really dense and heavy ciabatta buns that are sweet. If you like that you'd love their burgers. There are bottomless fries with your entrée however I never got to get anymore of those because she never came to check on us until it was time to go. The fries were very good though. I was in the mood for a burger, saw the great reviews and decided to stop. Our service was awful. The place was not packed, but had a few other occupied tables. It is a little dreary inside and we opted to sit outside. The pace and serving time for the food was irritating. We ordered my daughters burger first with hopes of it coming out quickly. It took a while to come out and fries were "warm", which led me to believe it may have been ready, but sitting. It was actually delivered by another server. I have no idea where our server was for most of our visit. The food was decent, but of course overpriced and not worth the wait in between us waiting for our server to return to our table. My husband ordered the pasta and meatballs. The sauce was a little sweet for him, but the meatballs were good. It was a nice portion size. I ordered the chili cheeseburger. I liked the sweet bun, but otherwise it was just okay. Grilled onions and a sharper cheddar would have made this burger so much better. Fries were hot and crispy. We were always searching for our server. The finishing touch was waiting forever for him to cash out the ticket. On my way to the restroom, I saw him "hanging out" with another server at the bar. After sitting for several more minutes when we returned from the restroom, my husband decided to just take the ticket to him and I waked to the car. Too many options people. When you are more expensive than the competition, you need to get your customer service priorities in order! Great place, great service. This place is a "Sports Bar" so if you dine in the evening, expect enthusiastic fans. We visited in the mid afternoon and found Johnny Houston's to be very nice. We were looking for somewhere to eat after 9pm in Navarre and the choices are few. I went to Yelp and saw Johnny Huston's closed at 10pm so we hurried to get there and to our surprise they are actually open until 11pm and Friday & Saturday until midnight. I read a lot of the reviews and most talked about how great their burgers are so why not give it a try? Although it seems small it really isn't for Navarre standards, they have a full bar and a covered patio, so really more space than you think. We were greeted by a friendly and attentive. Unfortunately they do not have turkey burgers but the menu is extensive. My dining companion had the 50/50 burger which she loved it it was ground chuck and smoked pulled pork cooked together. It looked delicious. I had the Fish BLT&A (fish, bacon,lettuce, tomato and avocado) I would have never thought to add a catfish filet to a BLT but I'm happy they did it was delicious. Crispy catfish, salty bacon, juicy tomatoes and who doesn't like avocados? If we woulf have had time for another visit I would have gotten this sandwich again. If you're in Navarre this is a must go-to restaurant. I'm going there again the next time I'm in Navarre. read more
