This place is like a good saloon. Great dive bar atmosphere with really solid food. Has the saloon feel and a wall of draft beers. I ordered an old fashioned and they didn't have block ice so I got a soda fountain amount of ice turning it to a watered down old fashioned. The beers weee really good though. The ribs tased like pepper but everything was pretty good. The server checked on us to give us a menu, take our appetizer, give us our food, give us a check and nothing else. Very inattentive This place has been around for a while because their food and beer is great. I always say, try it twice before giving up on anything. As dive bars go this has the look with the exception that there is not a single window to be found, Maybe it used to be a gentleman's club . Food is better than what you typically find at a dive bar with lots of options. What makes this a place I wouldn't return to is the smell. It's a really old building so maybe that has something to do with it but it had a cleaning chemical smell that in the end made me rush my visit to get away from it. I was looking for a low-key restaurant situation for the last night in town. This is a neighborhood bar and it reminds me of Cheers. The staff knew all the locals, and they even had trivia night. The staff was really friendly. Now to the food. If you come here and don't get the Pig Wings, you have missed out. They were so tender and flavorful. I also had the Cuban sandwich and it was huge and tasty. My companion had the Freddy sandwich. You had to roll us out of there. It was a great meal and I am glad that I sought out this local gem. The Pallet , please I hope the owner reads this and refunds my $90 . After moving furniture for two hours and getting paid $95 we decided to treat ourselves. What a mistake. Firstly the server was bothered to recite the beer menu, stating it was on the chalkboard, well hell I'm tired I don't want to get up and read the chalkboard We ordered and during the lull , I asked the audio from one TV showing internet clips be changed to a preseason NFL game, easy right ? Well the server couldn't figure that out so left both TVs in silence. Secondly my wife commented she was dressed like she was as home doing laundry with the shorty shorts. While we were waiting a couple came in , sat down , waited and waited, then they left due to lacking service... I can't blame them and envious they escaped with their hard earned money. Finally when the food did arrive, speaking only for myself, I ordered a pulled pork sandwich. The pork was dry in spots and not properly proportional for the bun, the bun wasn't toasted just straight out the bag. All in all avoid this place for food , bad service, weird layout . Loved the multiple seating areas and the decor. Really wanted to go to the outside area but unfortunately it wasn't open. Our breakfast burger was cooked to perfection. I think the only drawback was the bun. It was kind of dry, no taste really to it. I love a good soft bun to bring a hamburger together. read more

Stopped by Pallet today for lunch. Got the keto plate and it was delicious. The picture I took is actually half eaten because I was hungry and forgot to take a photo before hand. The portion size is enough to share in my opinion. It was very tasty. I would recommend that the chef add a dash of salt and maybe some jalapeños to it, maybe also offer a beef version and have a couple of recommendations for keto friendly drinks to accompany the meal. My bartender/waiter Ryan did a great job especially seeing as it looked like he was doing everything ie he probably should get a raise. Nice atmosphere and excellent outdoor seating for events. We quickly found seating with our group together in the downstairs outdoor dining and entertainment area. I ordered the Texas smokehouse burger and wife ordered the Cuban sandwich. Rachel took our order and the wait staff brought or food quickly. Our food was warm and delicious. My husband and I are out of state for his business trip, and found Pallet Bar and Grill online. It has a rustic look, a nice variety of sandwiches, burgers, etc. Husband got the Pallet Burger with fries, and I got the Club sandwich and fries. Food was tasty and fresh with generous portions. We stopped at this place since we had time before our flight at Destin/Fort Walton Airport. We found this place after we looked at some good reviews on Yelp. The owner was there and he pointed out all the beers they had on tap on the "Pallet Board". We got the Brisket Sandwiches and the Fish and Chips. The Brisket was tender and fresh. The Fish was also crispy and flaky as well. The side salads were all fresh with no wilted lettuce or soggy tomatoes. The Mac and Cheese was very creamy but not too cheesy. This place seems like it has a cool vibe after the restaurant closes. Seems like a locals joint. Definitely very attentive service. They also did not even make a fuss when our 3 year old son was running all over the place. Will stop here again when we land in Destin/Fort Walton...... read more

This was our first time here. I loved that the whole place was made from pallets!! My husband had the sliced brisket sandwich, fries and coleslaw; he enjoyed it. I had the smoked chicken salad sandwich which was delicious. I would say that the roll that it was served on was "bready". If I made it at home, I would have picked out a lot of the inner bread but that's just me! I deducted one star, only because we waited a while for our check, although we did come in at an odd hour. We came in around 2 pm for a late lunch/early dinner and there was only 1 couple sitting at the bar. By the time we were ready for our check, it was 3 pm and there were about 10 small parties and it appeared Chad and one other guy were bartending and waiting. Really good. It's in my regular rotation. Good food. Not for a 50th anniversary celebration but I would come here any other time. Yum yum.

Life can be a roller coaster with frequent (daily) ups and downs. Opening a restaurant can be exactly the same, and sometimes that first hill you need to climb is tough going. But as roller coaster rides go, this official first day for Pallet Bar and Grill did get started on the right track. We just didn't hit any of the big whooshes, the over the top, curlycues you experience on a big ride. But...just...wait...there's more in store - you'll see. To start...(before everyone is securely seated & safely belted in)...the parking is funky....there are a few spots out front, some on the side - shared perhaps with the "Rock Shop"? Not clear. There may be others behind - but fortunately for us, there was no crowd at our late lunch today, so we pulled up right in front. Movin' on up....there was a sign hastily scrawled on paper, taped to the front door and 'blowing in the wind'. Although hard to read without getting out of the car to hold it still, it indicated "Lunch Upstairs." So we entered, quickly glanced around downstairs (nice looking area), then followed the original directions. We walked to the top of the stairs and were very cordially greeted and immediately (courteously) cautioned, "Watch your step." There is a 3" dropouts a few steps after you come through the upstairs doors. You enter right next to the impressive, sweeping, circular bar. Looking there is risky - it's impressive so - do be careful! While the step down is clearly marked on the floor with striped caution tape, it's easy to miss if you are looking around at the beautiful interior. The next verbal instructions from our greeter/server were, "Sit wherever you like." We chose a small dining area to the left that is still open to the main area and only divided by a waist-high knee wall. But wait....be mindful again....there's another 6 inch step up to that area we chose. Definitely not wheelchair accessible. No disrespect or anything else intended....just the facts, m'am. (I don't think there is any accessible area upstairs; I did not see an elevator.) There are several other small, perhaps more intimate, and very attractive areas throughout the upstairs - all carrying on on the gorgeous pallet-made decor. The walls, and floors, and tables and some of the decorations are beautifully crafted...but it still have a lingering odor of varnish. No problem, that will dissipate soon. Just ignore it and prepare to enjoy your brew and food. First exciting, pleasantly pleasing part of our ride....was a chalkboard selection (and broad variety) of 24 craft brews - from domestics, to IPA's, to Ales, to Stouts - that will change periodically. And there's a full bar as well. Great start. Our congenial first day server brought us our menus and repeated what we were told as we entered...being their first day, there were several items that will be offered on a regular basis, just not available today. My heart sank at the mention of smoked meatloaf (sigh!) and fish 'n chips. Not to worry, there were plenty of other items from which to choose - smoked wings, brisket, and much, much more. First (next) whoo hoo moment....Bacon-Wrapped Jalapeño Poppers. But wait! These were not your run-of-the-mill cheese-filled, deep fried ditties. These were mini smoked baby sausages (aka lil' smokie links) nestled in a half jalapeño and wrapped in bacon. They were spicy and oh-so-good! Next up: a smoked Pork Sandwich. (Being from Tennessee and spending time on the road eating at a lot of BBQ joints, I consider myself well "seasoned.") Today's Pallet Pork sandwich was just about perfect: a large potato roll piled high with lean, tender, juicy, smoked pork. Yum's da woid, Yes, I'd order it again in a heartbeat...but the accompanying thick, creamy coleslaw was just meh. The side condiment cup of BBQ sauce was thick and very sweet...just ok. It reminded me of many sauces I've had with no 'personal' signature. I might suggest adding a smoke element to it.) We saw another customer enjoying the brisket and silently wished we had also ordered that. It looked tender, juicy and succulent. It's definitely on my "next time" list as are several other things on the menu. (Menu pics posted with this review.) Granted, today was just their first "official" opening day after a soft open a few days ago, so things were just slightly out of balance - nothing off the rails. But, as roller coaster rides go....hang on, I think this place is going to rocket you to "Brew and 'Que" excitement. I know we plan a return ride soon. read more

They are shrimp served with grits. No gravy/sauce. Just a bit of butter. A very unassuming place, the pallet bar is really cool. A buddy and I went there one day for lunch, he have a meatball sandwich and I had the stuffed jalapeños. Both were excellent my jalapeños had a lot of flavor really good sauce the bacon was nice and crisp, they were sweet. My buddy had the meatball sub when she had it cut in thirds and he said he ate it for two days after that it was tremendous. I didn't taste it but he said it was great and I believe him. Anyway overall very pleasant experience for lunch. If anybody that happens in that area really should stop in and try some lunch or dinner.you Will not be disappointed. So often a lot of places open up without doing the homework, I think these guys got it right and they're going to do well they just need support from the community.
