The food is great, the ambience is nice but the service is rough. We tried this place twice and both times the service made the experience not worth it. The first time we went our server was good but we ordered drinks and she forgot to ring them in and we waited for her to come back but she didn't check on us until we were done with the food. So we ended up cancelling the drinks and going to the Gray taproom instead. No hard feelings, that can happen. The wings were delicious and the I loved their sweet potatoes fries, my husband enjoyed the burger too. So last weekend we decided to go there again, the tables inside were occupied so we ended up sitting at the bar. The bartender promptly asked us what we wanted, we asked for waters and before we could request the menus or anything and he turned around and left. He dropped the waters, no menus no other questions just left. Seemed like he got annoyed we wanted to order water instead of drinks right away. After that we waited for him to come back, he was the only one working at the bar it wasn't busy. My husband asked for menus from the front so we could be ready to order but he never came back to check on us but he never did. He was at the bar talking, hugging people and checking on refills/drinks. We decided what to order after looking at the menu and we waited... We tried to get his attention but no response, he was checking on the bar but just simply didn't feel like serving us so I got over it and decided to leave. Sad to see this place was given a 4 star rating, yet my experience was about a 2.5. When we arrived, the place was slightly busy, but dying down. We were sat fairly quickly, got drinks and began to order. This is where things went down hill fast... We ordered a small chicken nacho, six piece wings with fries, and a chicken parmesan meal. The prep and cook time were fine except I'm not sure why the small nachos took longer than the wings and pasta meal. After 8 minutes (not a full 10m, but not a short 5m either). Our server didn't deliver the food, and we also had to bother another server for an extra plate because Kait was MIA. We got the nachos (again, not from our server) and began eating. I recall the rule being, "two minutes or two bites", you check on the table but again, no Kait. After everyone was half done with their food, we finally see the face of our server and we ask for extra reach and extra queso. Probably pointless at the time since we were about done and ready to go. We start stacking up plates and our server drops off out ticket. We look around for the server confused why it's taking so long for her to get our check to pay and leave. ==Lockdown Update== None of the waitresses are wearing masks or gloves at Johnny Houston's. Considering the waitress we had kept only a foot away from me at most (for some reason [I'm sure some of her spittle got in my food]) while we were interacting, this is unacceptable. I had to keep leaning away from her, not that it helped much. The service wasn't great either. She checked on us maybe twice during the meal and was more matter of fact. Tables are marked with "NO" to designate which ones you can't sit at, a policy they have been very slow to implement. The food was not worth the money at all. Disappointment all around our table. Shrimp was inconsistent on the deveining. I had fajitas, only with soft taco tortillas, some of the chicken was inedible. The chips were the best part of the meal. My brother myself and his coworker came in for lunch today. We started off with three light beers when the waitress returned she brought us three drafts. We mentioned to her that we prefer bottles she tried to take them back. We told her they were fine that we would drink them, but for the future, we would like bottles she said OK We had another visit from another waitress that asked if we were doing OK and if she could take her order, I asked her what happened to our original waitress was,She stated that she had things to do inside the restaurant and that she was taken over. We said fine we ordered three more beers. This whole time we are talking about the NFL draft and work related issues.We were not disruptive nor loud. There was a family sitting across from us so we were very respectful. The waitress came around again and took our food orders. I had the fried shrimp our friend had a salad and my brother ordered wings with a special rub on it with some heat. We ordered three beers that was our third round. Our food was brought out to our table. Mine was fine. My brothers co workers food was fine, my brothers wings were not what he ordered. so when waitress came around he mentioned to her that this was not correct. Waitress said she was going to fix it. She came out with a dry rub that was all clumpy , and it would not stick to the wings. My brother stated to the waitress that this wasn't gonna work that he would just eat the tater tots she stated that she would get the manager to take it off the ticket When she came back around, she was bringing us our receipts and we said that we weren't done that we like to order one more round of beers. She stated that we were being cut off,this was our last ones. My brother asked who said this and she said it was the manager. He asked to speak to the manager He came out very angrily, and very hard headed and stated that we were gone that we were harassing the waitresses which we were not. I travel through out the state of Florida and visits many eating establishments and this is the worst place when it came to service and how we were we treated. I came here regularly from 2016-18 and the service was horrendous to the point the waitresses would get your drink order wrong, BUT the food quality made up for that. I then moved away and went years without eating here. I have now moved back and decided to give this place another try. The service was better, but the food has downgraded tremendously. The fries were lukewarm and the chicken was drier than the Sahara Desert. Tourists, you have better options around here to spend your money. Might I add and reiterate, the service was better just this one time, but 99% of the time, the waitresses are more concerned with gossiping instead of doing their job. I gave this restuarant 3 stars. Wasn't terrible, but wasn't nothing to special. Went there and ordered a fried mushrooms, burger, wings and some cocktails. The wings were good, but no flats for some reason...just drumsticks. The cocktails were delicious. If wasn't for them making an amazing Cherry Limeade drink, I would have mark it down a star. The fried mushrooms were exactly that, not that great. No seasoning in the batter and they were too large. They claim to make "The best burger in the Emerald Coast". Thats a bold statement and I have to see for myself if this is a true statement...it wasn't. The burger was dry and greasy at the same time. The bun wasn't toasted, so all the grease soaked into the bun, creating a soggy gelatin like substances. The actual hamburger patty kind of tasted like meatloaf....overly seasoned. They did not ask how I would like my burger cooked, they just assumed I would like it medium-grey. Good food, good service but bar is seriously lacking. Ordered the only thing I drink, a Jack and Coke, and they don't have Coke, only Pepsi. If you order a vodka tonic they don't say we don't have tonic would you like 7Up. So why do they think Pepsi is a substitute for Coke. The Mac and cheese burger. You might get a little messy, you might need a few napkins, but it's worth it. I have been coming here for years, while the menu had changed a few times the food and service has always been consistent. There is an indoor and outdoor seating area. I still haven't figured out why there is gravel parking lot, but do not let it deter you. They do have Pensacola Bay breweries Riptide Amber on tap so that is always a plus. The location is close to my house so I would not hesitate to stop here if you are looking for one of the best restaurants in Navarre. They did build a taproom next door so if you like to drink alcohol and just hangout that is close by! read more

This would be the 2nd time I've eaten here. The service was very good. Typical beach place with young girl servers in short shorts. The food was chintzy at best and lacking in flavor.
