Surprisingly great food, service and atmosphere. From the outside, not very remarkable. Inside bar decor with big screen tvs everywhere. When we got there it was moderately busy for the time. By the time we left it was packed. My shrimp fajitas came out steaming with abut 9 jumbo grilled shrimp. I would have preferred the onions and peppers to be less cooked. Butter lettuce, cheese and salsa accompanied the flour tortillas. The burger was on a freshly made bun and my husband said it was one of the best burgers he's had. (He's had quite a few:)). The fries were fresh and hot. Our server was prompt and very nice. Overall a great meal. We will probably go back before we leave Navarre. read more

The reason for the three stars is the food was just OK bar food. I was hoping for some seafood as this site considered them to be but the only seafood was salmon, fried and grilled shrimp. I had the grilled shrimp, coleslaw , and tater tots. There was no flavor at all except for the small to average sized shrimp. They were a bit on the spicy side, but at least had flavor. The coleslaw had absolutely no taste at all. The only reason for the three stars is the server was really friendly and did a great job. If you stopped in for a burger or wings this might be the place?? read more

I have had many burgers from many states, but when I sat down and ordered the Hangover burger, I had no idea that this burger was going to make such sweet love to my taste buds that sent me into a state of bliss. This place has sadly gone downhill! We used to love coming and everything was fresh and tasty. The last few times have been just an awful experience. Today we visited and the queso was cold and runny, the chips were burnt. Then we got our food... salad was awful. I ordered the southwest salad. The salad had a few tomatoes, tons of lettuce, no sour cream and brown guac and burnt tasteless chicken. I asked whom I thought was the manager if they made this correct as it basically looked like a bowl of lettuce with burnt chicken. He did not care whatsoever about the service and quality of our food. This will be the last visit! read more

I find this place very average, food is okay, prices about what you'd expect, decent service, decent atmosphere - more of a sports bar style with lots of TVs and it does offer outdoor seating. I ordered the blackened fish basket with sweet potato fries. The fish seemed to be very thin and almost had a boiled flavor with minimal blackened seasoning, not very good, but the sweet potato fries were actually great. The fish came with bland almost off putting flavor coleslaw, and upon ordering they refused to substitute it with edamame or anything else. My wife was happy with her shrimp wrap. I doubt I'll return, it seems more like a chain restaurant, and not worth skipping the many other great unique places to eat nearby. read more

I had a coworker rave about Johnny Huston's for years saying that it was the best burger in town. Unfortunately, I found it to be just OK. Nothing more, nothing less. I came in on a weeknight with a group of five, and we sat in a large booth against one of the main walls. The place was quite spacious and bustling with diners and wait staff. When we asked for water our server let us know that their system was down and they were unable to put certain orders in and that the system was affecting their ability to dispense water. I'm fairly certain I missed a critical piece of information since I don't understand how the water and ticketing system are related, but I went along with it. After about 30-35 minutes everything came back online and they were able to bring waters out and place full orders again. We got the chorizo and queso appetizer and I ordered the Little Ben's Burger (6 oz patty with mayo, lettuce, tomato, onion, & fried pickles). The appetizer didn't take too long to come out and was served thinly on a hot skillet to create a great pull-cheese consistency. The chorizo had good flavor, but would have liked for a deeper skillet for more bang-for-your-buck at $11. All of our entrees were able to come out at the same time, and my burger and fries looked pretty good. The fries were hot and crispy and the burger sat nicely in its buns with the lettuce and fried pickles sticking out. Regarding the construction of the burger, I'm still a bit intrigued at the choice to place the fried pickles beneath the burger patty since that would cause them to get soggy quicker because the patty juices and anything else up top will run down into them. The taste of the patty itself was good and the buns were nice and lightly toasted. The fried pickles themselves - regardless of placement - were a nice addition to the structure. Overall though, I wasn't really impressed with anything or everything. Good quality, but missing the marks when it comes to some dishes and their quantity vs. price. I'm still puzzled by the system error and its relation to the inability to serve tap water. read more

Only because of Yelp did we find this place which is why Yelping is important for me. This was an excellent find. Great food, really great service and fantastic place to watch the super bowl. My "Love Me Tender" sandwich totally hit the spot and little did I know the sweet potato fries came with an amazing Carmel sauce that I assumed was for the sandwich and it made the sandwich amazing. ==2024 Update== Still not a fantastic experience, unfortunately. We used to be regulars. The ambiance is that of a sports bar. The outdoor seating is nicer unless it's windy. The burgers are small, the patties thin. The prices have steadily increased over the last couple of years, now they match that of El Jalisco, McGuire's, and Carmen's, places that far outclass this establishment. I say this out of disappointment and wistful thinking. We used to love coming here. Service used to be better, too. If you want a great burger, go to McGuire's. If you want good wings, go to Dave's Oyster Bar or Buffalo Wild Wings. If you want a great fajita, go to El Jalisco's. You get twice the amount of meat sans the premium. ==Lockdown Update== None of the waitresses are wearing masks or gloves at Johnny Houston's. Considering the waitress we had kept only a foot away from me at most (for some reason [I'm sure some of her spittle got in my food]) while we were interacting, this is unacceptable. I had to keep leaning away from her, not that it helped much. The service wasn't great either. She checked on us maybe twice during the meal and was more matter of fact. Tables are marked with "NO" to designate which ones you can't sit at, a policy they have been very slow to implement. The food was not worth the money at all. Disappointment all around our table. Shrimp was inconsistent on the deveining. I had fajitas, only with soft taco tortillas, some of the chicken was inedible too. The chips were the best part of the meal. I've had several different burgers, nachos, garlic toast patty melts, tried bites of family members' other burgers, chicken parm, & several other items which were all great.. but the Love Me Tender chicken sandwich is my go to. Plus you get BOTTOMLESS FRIES. I wish everywhere offered that.. I always get extras. That JH sauce is amazing on the sandwich & fries. Desserts are always good too.. my niece and nephews are my foodie squad & anytime I ask where they want to go, JH is their first choice. Even the grilled cheese is amazing. They changed their onion rings to beer battered or whatever Instead of the crunchy ones made with bread crumbs! I hate that kind of onion ring. Disappointed bc I went there for those and their hustons sauce. Glad they still serve Pepsi at least. The wait time is too long for wings so I more than likely will not return. read more
