We tried this place since I saw there was a vegan pizza on their menu. It was really good, I wish there was a little bit more vegan chorizo on it that was my only complaint. But the crust and flavors were very complementary to each other .. i definitely will be back! My husband had just a plain cheese, he enjoyed it a lot. They have mini sizes so you don't have to get an entire pizza which is really nice. Not a lot of kids when we were there (thank God) the other reviews scared me that there would be screaming children all around me LOL. I enjoyed a work luncheon at Johnny Mo's. There was a lot of buzz around the office because we knew it had recently opened and were curious about the food. The restaurant is located in the Main Street Commons building in what the website calls the "Old Thriftway Building." I'm not very familiar with Edmonds but the interior of the restaurant has that old industrial/mid-century feel, with large, high windows and soaring ceilings. The soft opening just happened on November 21, and it still felt like they were working out kinks in the kitchen. Some of our party went without drink refills. Salads came out after pizza slices. One person did not get their food until lunch was over. However, our waitress was great and the food was good. I had the two slice special with a generous portion of Caesar salad for $18. I also indulged in a Swirly Temple (a big plus for me was the extra maraschino cherry in my glass). As we ate our slices we pondered how much more pizza Edmonds could take. There's Moto, Portofino, Nigel Peacock... how would Johnny Mo's fit in? Well, I can say that the crust of this pizza has a different mouthfeel. The thin crust is crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside (which is my kind of crust). The jury is still out for me on the toppings. I think I expected more for what I paid. One con: the cavernous space is so incredibly loud. It needs some sound baffles to mitigate the noise - we were all practically shouting to hear each other and the restaurant was only half full. I don't consider this a negative but on a sunny day it is very bright inside. One of our party wore sunglasses and the sun was in our eyes for a portion of the luncheon. Bring sunblock and sunglasses if you have concerns. The stairs are pretty steep but there's an elevator in case you're worried about accessibility. Next time I will come with family and try sitting at the bar and taking in a game. I'm curious about their drink selection and I saw a card on our table with a list of mocktails listed. Once the wrinkles in service and the kitchen are ironed out, I can see this place being a popular eatery for family outings or date nights. read more

Ok is the perfect review. We have been here twice, trying the thin crust pizza and the calzone. Both were just ok. Nothing really wrong with either, but it just wasn't great, especially with the superb Moto and Niles Peacock just down the street. I'd be curious to come back and try the Chicago style but based on the two visits so far, I don't see this becoming a regular place for us. We were not fans of the atmosphere with it being one big room. No booths, no privacy. It was cacophonous and hard to have a conversation with your partner. Do not recommend for a date night or quiet night out for that reason. Also, they need to hire more servers if they anticipate a busy night. The one we had on the last visit seemed kind of stressed and snapped at us when we asked for the bill after about 15 minutes of just sitting there waiting for it. The pizza here was by far the best pizza we've ever had. Just like NYC! The service was excellent. Seemed like he loved working here and giving excellent service. Even asked if we would like a bigger table for more room. The patio has an amazing view and can feel the cool breeze from the ocean. I'm giving a 3 star instead of 4 because we won't be going back due to the price. Went recently on a busy night, got seated quickly and food and drinks came in a good amount of time. Dinner for 2 adults: shared a large salad and large pizza, 3 drinks. $115 bill before taxes. All while sitting in a noisy hall with kids screaming everywhere. Tables close enough to bump into each other. My feeling is if you're going to charge that much your ambiance should reflect that. Pizza and salad and screaming toddlers doesn't warrant that price tag read more

My son loves the New York Style thin crust pizza. It's his favorite pizza. He thinks the ingredients are very fresh. We like going to the Edmonds and Seattle location. The salads are delicious too. The staff is always very professional and nice. read more

We visited for an early dinner (5-ish) on a Sunday. It was fairly busy but not packed, and we were seated right away. Atmosphere was fun, good beer/wine/drink selection, overall seems like a good place to come with friends and enjoy a few pitchers and some pies. There were plenty of families with kids there, but they had no kid-friendly items (no booster seats/high chairs, plastic/straw cups, or kids menu). Service was pleasant and prompt. We ordered the meatball appetizer, the NY Classic Pepperoni pizza (14"), and the Stratton Spinach deep-dish pizza. Meatball appetizer- three generous sized meatballs, soft texture all the way through, good flavor and sauce. Served with only two slices of untoasted bread, which was odd considering the three meatballs. NY pepperoni pizza- it was ok. Better than many places but not amazing. Sauce was tasty, crust lacked flavor. Very greasy. Spinach deep dish- took 45-50 minutes, came out very hot. Crust was very good, tasty sauce, not overly heavy. Toppings however were very soupy- even after waiting 5 minutes everything slid off the crust when serving (another reviewer called it a "swimming pool"- I agree). Maybe the sauce needed to be cooked down to a thicker consistency, or it just needed a lot longer to cool off and set. Tasted good, but it was a mess to eat. Long awaited visit to this pizzeria. I was pleasantly surprised yet there is the Good, Bad and Meh. The Good: The Pizza, sauce was outstanding, tangy with slightly sweet which is what you want, the crust had a nice char on the bottom & the gents running the ovens cooked the Margarita perfect. Nice job guys.. The Bad: Its loud as hell, would never take a client here or a date. Its kid fest for sure as they scream there head off & new parents try to calm them down like there talking to an adult never works. (so next time its a pick up) The Meh: Service is slow but again I didn't go here for service or ambiance, I went there to get a great NY style Pizza & these guys delivered. Pizza is great - when they are on point. I'd say about half the time the crust gets wet and the cheese and toppings aren't cooked enough. When it's right though, this is hard to beat in the area. For the price of the pie they aren't hitting the consistency of pagliacci so it's a gamble. read more

This is hands down my husband and I's favorite local spot. The service is always incredible and the food never disappoints. Candidly, we only have ever gotten a pepperoni pizza and buffalo chicken wings with ranch, because it's just so good every time!!! We also came here for my 21st birthday and were welcomed with excitement and celebration and they gave me a shot on them! The drinks are also so unique and their mixologist is clearly an expert. The owner, Johnny is incredibly personable and kind and shows his appreciation to his customers. JM is just doing business right. With food, service, and ambiance always being excellent, it is definitely the place to visit. But beware, you'll be hooked once you try it! read more

Wanted desperately to love it. It is close to our house and pizza is typically our go to for our "foodie" (cheat) days. They were not busy at all, got seated right away server was nice and attentive until we placed our order. Then never checked on us again. Maybe they're understaffed due to being slow?? Our order took forever...... even my son complained when we got our appetizer almost 30 minutes after ordering. We got the cheesy bread which was overflowing with cheese, which some may love. We also got a calzone and a few NY pizzas. I have never had a NY pizza to compare but the crust was very hard and crunchy. I am a huge crust fan so if it's still on the plate when I am done, that pizza is a no go. The calzone however I really did like. The outer crust was soft with a great mixture inside. It is fairly large so we had to ask someone who wasn't our server for a to go box. After our waiter walking by our table many times without checking on us, my husband had to stop him to get our check. Maybe they still have some kinks to work out, so we will try them again in few months. If they have improved, I will update my review. read more

We've been twice and both times the staff is pretty lackadaisical and not all that attentive. This last time it took a long time to get food and a couple of staff were wondering around, stacking glasses, moving centerpieces around and such. We tried the Chicago style Ditka and a New York style pizza. Both were excellent. I've never been a big fan of Chicago style pizza before, but I am now. Everything was just fresh and flavorful. The sauce with chunks of tomato in it was seasoned perfectly. The toppings and the cheese were top-notch for sure. Both pizzas, however, were slightly undercooked so it is hard to judge the crust because it wasn't fully cooked. Although I really enjoyed this pizza, it is pretty expensive. But if you want a really good pizza and you want to pay a little extra, I would highly recommend this place. read more

Nice new restaurant in Edmonds with good size group seating, parking is non existent but street parking is always an option. We tried the Chicago deep dish and the New York style. Two pizzas for 4 adults was the perfect amount. I'll say I have had a Chicago deep dish before and this was a different style. It was less pie style and more tomato based which was good but not what I was expecting. New York pizza was good. I will say the knock in stars is for service. They were so busy that our table got forgotten. It was only after 1hr and 15min that I asked the hostess to check on our orders. Our server never stopped by after she brought our waters. They did make it right by comping a pizza. But I'd rather have not waited so long. Hopefully they will work the kinks out as a new business. Also it would be nice to be able to make a reservation. I feel super lucky to have multiple excellent vegan pizza options in Edmonds and Johnny Mo's is one of them. Their Nature's Green is a NY style pizza and has red sauce, vegan mozz, vegan chorizo, red onions, roasted garlic, and peperoncinis and is so so good. Their sauce is great and I regret not asking what kind of vegan cheese they use because it is very good. My husband is a big fan of their Chicago style pizzas, as well. If I could give 4.5 stars I would, but I haven't loved any of the mixed drinks I've had there and the service can be a little slow at times. Regardless, I'd highly recommend. read more

Can't give more a star since they wouldn't seat us an hour before they closed. "We decided to close early because we didn't have any business". This was said as we saw people eating in the dining area and ......WE ARE BUSINESS. That you just turned away. They offered to make us pizza to go but not for sitting down. That makes zero sense. You just didn't want to serve us. If wanted pizza at home I'd get Pizza Hut. Not a great first impression for a brand new business but also a very Edmonds kind of way. An amazing looking spot that just didn't have the food to match. Stopped in for some apps and beers and wish we hadn't. Everything felt precooked and then reheated poorly. As a former Chicagoan I wanted to try the deep dish pizza. I had a Ditka (sauce, cheese and sausage). The pizza is good, but could use a few changes to improve it and make it more like a true Chicago deep dish. 1). The crust is ok. Needs more flavor. Most Chicago places will use corn oil in the dough instead of olive or canola. This gives it a better taste. The crust could be done more. The trick here is to use a dark colored metal pan. This absorbs more heat and gives you a golden crust. Their pans look like aluminum and are light in color. 2) cheese and sausage were just about right. 3). sauce is way too watery. Tomato chunks could be a bit smaller and the sauce needs a touch of sugar to cut the acidic taste. Got there later on a Saturday night. I could see they were busy, but it was slowing down, so service was good. Did point out that there was a price difference between the bill and the menu for the cheese garlic bread. I will try it again, but hope they see this and make some changes. read more

This place needs some work. I was disappointed at dinner by multiple issues. 1. The jalapeño poppers aren't edible. We had to return them. 2. The Chicago pizza's dough was wet and the pizza seemed to be to be baked longer. 3. Our waiter was not attentive and we kept having to grab the bartender for help. 4. Service was good at the bar. Being from the east coast I was looking forward to some New York style pizza. The place was new and the servers were nice. They have young kids making pizza, it was very expensive and unfortunately not New York style at all. The edges of the crust were good, but the pizza was soggy. I asked them to put it back in the oven and still too much flop. I need to be able to fold my pizza. I hope they get it right. It's a great location and will be ideal in the summer months. read more

It is a nice space with a view. It is more suited to families and kids. Both types of pizzas (Chicago and New York) are good and true to their respective styles. Service can be slow. You can tell they are from outside of Edmonds, and don't carry anything by the local producers, besides Virtue Wines (which is very cool). The good news is that Kelnero is across the street if you want a cocktail before or after your pizza. read more

I am stunned at the other reviews. The Evergreen Pesto pizza I got absolutely sucked. the crust was burnt to the point of blackening. There was very little sauce. If there was any pesto at all, I could not taste it. It wasn't just disappointing; it was downright awful. And it was $35 for this undersized, burnt, flavorless mass of yuck. Do yourself a favor. Moto Pizza is a block and a half south on Main and several quantum leaps better. read more
