The best kitchen store I've ever walked into. This store has something for everyone.. even those who don't enjoy cooking. While the space is tight, The Wood Spoon does a great job of filling it with all the necessities. Not only do they sell every kitchen gadget on the market, they also have an amazing selection of aesthetic pieces. Including bowls, plates, glasses, or any decor you might need for the home. I visited during the holidays and the store was absolutely magical. They had a huge selection of festive goodies and ornaments, making it one of the best spots for picking up. a one-of-a-kind gift. I couldn't imagine a better place to snag a trinket for the hostess in your life. I ended up taking home a number of seasonings and sauces to enjoy over the holidays. The Wooden Spoon is one of my go-to kitchen stores when looking for a particular smaller item or something creative to use in cooking/baking. Growing up, it was a store my grandma enjoyed, my mom enjoyed, and my sibling (an older sister) and I enjoyed. As a family favorite across multiple generations, our visits could get to be a bit lengthy - and were always fun. The workers were consistently kind, and the interior was warm, well laid out, and without dust. Offerings included festive items during the holidays. It is one of few stores in my life I have gone looking over every item on the shelves on multiple different occasions because we were taking so long in the store. My first time doing this I was uncertain of how to approach it, though I was certain that I did not need anything. Then, going through the items, I found a few items I wanted that I had entirely not anticipated. This happened a couple times until the store became a fixture in my memory of where to go to looking for specific items/kitchen item genres. read more

Great store - they have pretty much everything you need. I head here before Amazon to support them because I think they're great. With that said......do NOT buy a teak cutting board from them. They have been sitting there forever and are super dried out. I purchased two ($$$) and have tried everything to rehydrate them and it hasn't worked. I even went in and asked for their advice and they sold me a $17 bottle of oil that contains wax, which is supposed to help keep the moisture in. No luck. I'll be purchasing another set of cutting boards somewhere else. read more

One of my favorite shops in downtown Edmonds. I love exploring their goods for some kitchen toy gadgets to add to my kitchen. They stock some unique items that I haven't seen anywhere else, and believe me I visit every kitchen store I see for new "toys". I love trying new cooking equipment and international recipes. This is a fun, small mom&pop kitchen shop. They've got a very entertaining and wide selection of gadgets, must-haves, and I-never-knews for a fairly small store. It's actually a bit bigger than it looks from the outside. The handful of times I've been in, the service has been great. After picking up a cake from the bakery a few doors down we stopped by The Wooden Spoon in hopes of finding a cake stand and cake knife. The moment we walked through the the door we had the most warm welcome and enthusiastic assistance ever! Some beautiful cake stands were brought to us from the back and I was able to pick up the prettiest piece to set our cake on. We found the cake knife with just a few minutes of searching the vast inventory of cookware and quickly checked out. With our hands full with a toddler and a large cake we were even helped to our car by the kind woman whose name I am sorry to have forgotten already. The experience was above and beyond wonderful and I will be glad to come back in the future and tell friends/family to do the same. Every time I walk into this store I leave with kitchen treasures. On this trip I found what I was looking for - unique and also traditional Christmas cookie cutters, but I also found a glove made out of spun metal that you wear while using your mandolin. Ever used a mandolin? It's a game of chicken with your fingers possibly being sliced into matchsticks along with the carrots. This glove prevents that fate. I saw it on America's Test Kitchen and realized genius when I saw it, then found it at the wooden spoon. The entire store is like that. So many great kitchen gadgets, cookbooks, dinnerware, stoneware, cast iron. They have so much. If you love kitchen stores you'll love this store. read more

The selection of items is fine, but nothing is worth enduring the rude and patronizing attitude of the owner. There are so many other wonderful options in Edmonds, with warm and friendly customer service, I myself will not be going back. I enjoy coming here whenever I can. Here, they sell kitchen gadgets and things I might be interested in regards to cooking. They also sell lotions and soaps, post cards, displays for kitchen and yard. This little place is SO cool and I can easily spend an hour walking around in here and check every item that catch my eyes. I have bought several cute items here for my cooking. However, I do come here for something specific at times which is "Camille Beckman" vitamin E lotion. It works for me really well. It's one of my fave hand lotion and they always have it available, and come in many scents but I prefer the unscented-always. I check this place out often to see if anything new comes in or I just come in and ask "what's new"? read more

They had a bunch of good supplies for cake making as well as some pasta-making tools I've never seen before. I'll need to wear a respirator if I ever step into this place again. My mom and I went to Edmonds for lunch and on our way to the restaurant we stopped into The Wooden Spoon. After making our way through the first 1/3 of the store that was entirely elf figurines (and before Thanksgiving, ahhhh), we were chatting and looking around when I realized I needed to pick up a new can opener. I was carrying a large shopping bag with a doormat that I had just purchased at a garden store down the street on my arm, I had the can opener in one hand and I was looking at scrubby sponges when a woman (pixie haircut, intense) came up next to me. Please imagine her inflection in the following conversation like the condescending boss from Office Space, as they are the same: Hiiiiiiiiii, can I take that for you? (I was confused, thinking she meant the doormat) oh, I didn't get that here.... YANKING THE CAN OPENER OUT OF MY HAND: I'll just take this up front, mmmmmmk? Leave both of you hands free. Ok. What the what?! The store was full, people all over the place, one lady working the register, and this woman and a few other employees were hanging out behind the counter chatting. She didn't approach anyone else before me or after me, just yanked it out of my hand and went back to chatting with her coworkers. Obviously she thought I was going to shoplift the stupid can opener-why else sneak up behind me, not ask if I needed help with anything, and then remove it from my hand? I felt embarrassed and singled out. I won't be back. Thanks for ruining a fun shopping trip out with my mom! read more

I LOVE this store. Everything you can think of or imagine kitchen is here!!!! I remember shopping at this store when I was a child. It was originally located in Main Street. My dad brought me here to look for a Christmas gift for my mom. Of course I picked some wooden spoons!! She is 87 and still has those spoons. Now they are located on 5th ave by the fountain and the store is packed with wonderful items. The lady's that run the store are super friendly and knowledgeable about kitchenware. One day I was running late and got there just as they were locking up. She let me in to get what I was looking for and didn't care that she was held up after closing (i usually don't do that but it was for a gift that I needed to get in the mail). Looking for a special shape cookie cutter?? Well I know you will find it here as they have hundreds! I love this hometown store and hope they are here for a long time. I don't know if I caught this place on a bad day or what. I felt like I was a huge bother. I asked one woman about cookie stamps and at first I thought she didn't hear me and then I realized that she was intentionally taking her time to look up and answer me. Even then she looked annoyed and let her coworker answer. I ended up buying three cookie cutters which cost $2.79. I was asked if I had cash and unfortunately like most people these days, I don't usually carry cash. The woman seemed so put off that I asked my partner if she had any and she did not. Honestly, if you're that upset about the extra charge (isn't it usually .25 or .50?), I'd rather you just asked me to pay the difference than act all passive aggressive about it. So many small businesses do this nowadays and I don't mind at all. I'd rather pay the difference than make a struggling small business pay it. I don't think I'll be back and it's too bad since I'm starting to really get into baking and cooking and I frequent Edmonds fairly often. I'm giving three stars because I'm going to assume it was a bad day and being a small business I assume you're struggling like so many others. Otherwise it was a 1 star experience. read more

Of course, it is a good start that this store is in the heart of downtown Edmonds. Makes it easy to shop local when i have choices like this. The Wooden Spoon makes the most of their small floorspace to pack in a wide variety of kitchen gear, and even seasonal specialty stuff. The ladies who run the place are always quick to help me navigate to the right aisle, or even special order things they don't have in stock. (tell them you heard about my new pizza stone: gigantic, rectangular, and made in USA) Pillars of the community, they contribute regularly to charity events, and actively solicit your change for the food bank. Oh, and the store kitty is quite tolerant of my dogs.... Small business done right! read more

I don't understand the low review ratings.. I've always had a great experience going into the store... The people working are friendly, even give out advice as to where to eat... which is nice... They have an awesome selection of cookie cutters (I found the dog bone cookie cutter for around 95 cents) and I found the souffle dishes I've been looking for at $3.95.. it's solid, the right size and for me, the right price... (seeing as how online they around $10 for 4, not including S&H.) I've yet to be asked about having cash over a card. They do order things for you if they don't have it. This is a small, quaint store, but with all the basics you'll need. They even had my silicon basting brush for $4.95 (I went to williams-sonoma, and found em for 16-20). This store is awesome! The owner of this store is very rude. She plays favorites among people shopping in her store and will outright ignore some shoppers. It really is a shame because the store really does have some cute things in it. The prices are high so if you want something standard you are better off going to a chain store, though. read more

At first I was a little bummed when I walked in. I am into hardcore kitchen gadgetry. Don't be fooled by all the cutesy tableware at the front of the store. They have some solid accessories in the back nook. They have an excellent selection of cookie cutters which I will be sure to raid come next Christmas. We stopped by The Wooden Spoon while visiting downtown Edmonds, since we like all kinds of kitchen things. We were impressed with the variety of items and the service. We purchased a little locally-made, hand-woven scrubby, which we though would serve as a more durable pot and dish cleaner than the ones we often use at home until they wear out and get replaced. When we got home, we found it worked better than we had imagined. So we called the nice people at The Wooden Spoon, and asked them if we could buy a half dozen scrubbies. They said sure, and packed them up and let us know the mailing cost. The scrubbies arrived today, and we are all set! Thanks to the fine folks at The Wooden Spoon for the excellent service! I recently began baking and decorating cookies as a hobby. A friend recommended this place. Despite reading a few bitter reviews from years ago, I decided to check it out in search of cookie cutters Wow is all I can say. I was greeted with friendly smiles and immediately found the enormous selection of cookie cutters. So vast was the selection, my mind went blank as to what I was looking for. Within moments a lovely lady came over to offer assistance. I told her about my new hobby and she even suggested some fun cookie cutters. I walked out of there with 7 new cookie cutters for less than $10 (much cheaper than ordering on the internet) and am actually going back today with my list of cookie cutters. I also browsed their selection of cooking goodies and was impressed with the variety as well as lots of unique stuff you won't find at the bigger stores. So I purposely went down to Edmonds tonight to " Saturday small business shop". ( being a small business owner myself.) I shopped in 5 different stores buying Christmas gifts. First-Dear owner - the lady wearing a red- crinkle shirt- short very layered spiky - blonde hair- rang me out. Not even a " thank you for shopping here". "Thank you for coming in". Not even a simple ," thank you". Nothing. 2nd-so disappointed in " every store not even doing a 10% discount." (Seriously - your competing with the big corporate discounts this weekend.) Do you understand most people are going ' out of their way' to support small business and shop local if we come down there Saturday .(?) I even went to a Boutique in Seattle- guess what 10% off everything in store in addition several things 30% off. Staff so thankful and helpful - even thank you so much.( take a lesson). I can't even tell you how disappointing your staff didn't even say " thank you for coming in". I'm floored. I won't be back next year. read more

Everytime I make it to Edmonds I HAVE to go into The Wooden Spoon! They always have the best selection of cookware, any gadget you could ever need, and some you didn't even know you needed! Plus, the selection of gift items like cute mugs, hand towels in every color imaginable, or even t-shirts is bar none! There is something for everyone in this store reguardless of age and the women who work there are always so helpful when I ask! Living in town, I always check here to support a local business before going elsewhere. I am surprised at the negative reviews. They don't jump on you when you come in and are happy if you are just browsing but are quick to help if you have a question or can't find what you want. They have a surprising variety of stock for a small store and I am glad they have a visible presence in our downtown. read more

Let me first say that I have never written a bad review! This is actually my first Yelp review but this store really caught me off guard. I really liked the store and the products in their inventory. Very cute, decorative ornamental pieces but also a lot of good kitchen gadgetry. I've worked in the restaurant industry for years and am a cook and a baker. I spend a lot of money on not just my ingredients but the equipment in my kitchen. That said, I'll stick to supporting other restaurant supply stores, even for my personal kitchen. I felt as though I was a nuisance to them and their business. The customer service was absolutely awful. In fact, there wasn't any. Not a peep from an employee the whole time I shopped. The only acknowledgment I received was a lingering stare that made me feel as if she thought I was going to steal something. I asked a question regarding an item I was purchasing. I was blatantly ignored. While paying for my items, I said hello and asked the curly-cue blonde cashier how she was doing. Not a word. I mentioned to the lady what a great inventory they had and how I liked the store. She looked at me with disdain. I told her the enormous (awkward, to be honest) cat on the counter was very pretty. More disdain. I bid her farewell and wished her a lovely day. No response. Let me say, I do not particularly enjoy "small talk", but this was a very uncomfortable and awkward check-out process that I will be happy to not return to. In the food and beverage industry, we believe that consumers are more likely to frequent an establishment with poor food and excellent customer service than one with outstanding food but bad service. I think the same goes for a store of any kind. Good products but horrible service? I will not be back. I live on Richmond Beach, a mere five miles from the shop. I wanted to love it, trust me, but I am saddened and disappointed that I cannot. read more

A great place for kitchenware! The only place i've seen a pastry cutter that isn't as thin as a whisk. Not to mention the cookie cutters whole walls full of them. This is my first review so it will be short but I know i couldn't end without mentioning the fact that they have the ultimate light weight knife. Holds an edge beautifully and is perfect for filleting meat and fish!!! I cannot for the life of me remember the brand but at $20 it is AWESOME! read more
