This place is a great little hidden neighborhood spot. We live right up the hill so when we want something delicious and quick, we order take out or go dine in. we have many pasta favorites..their combinations are unique..like the pear pasta? Who knew that would be such a BANGER. so yummy. We went for dinner the other night, they got a newer server, Joaquin..he was great! It got busy for a few minutes..multiple tables walking in, phone ringing, food pick ups. he handled it WELL, didn't break a sweat. Service from Tiffany was great! The food is good, the problem is it is so slow to be serve. We are the only customer at that time but it takes them too long. When I ask for our receipt, I notice that they would charge 3% up charge with credit card. When I give my card to Tiffany, she said they want to be up front about the charge. I want to start by saying I love the food at Portofino's. We have been coming for years. Their pasta bella is delicious - and I also love their pizza. But after our last two experiences I don't know that we will be back. We had a previous experience with a large group that was pretty disastrous. They did not have our reservation even though I had text proof AND had confirmed. The food took so long that some people in our party had to leave. Items were wrong and had to be remade. I had to apologize to people in our group as I had suggested Portofinos. They had a second large party that evening that arrived after us - so we figured maybe they were overwhelmed and maybe had some new employees or were short staffed. So we came again - and this time there were just three of us in our group. There were only 3 other tables with patrons. We placed our order. And waited and waited and waited for our food. Apparently they had several large to go orders. Then when our food arrived - instead of a medium pizza - they brought a mini pizza. When I said something - the waiter said - no this is a medium. Then he walked away and must have realized his error after my confusion. Because he then returned said they were making a new medium pizza. I appreciated that. But it was a frustrating evening. The food was delicious as always. But there are service and kitchen issues. They also add an automatic gratuity and a 3% fee for credit cards. I've lived in the area forever, but only recently started frequenting this place. I'd heard rumors about their vegan options, but for some reason they are kind of hidden and if you don't know you will probably miss them. My partner prefers places like this where we can both get what we want and he can enjoy his non veg options. I brought a friend once and they were a fan as well. I'm slowly making my way thru the menu. I do enjoy the side salad. I've had the lasagna a few times, the pizza rolls are good, I just tried the pizza. Its nice to have a variety of options to choose from. I'd heard rumors of a risotto option previously, but don't see that on the menu these days. There is also a full bar. We've never had trouble getting a table. It has a parking lot, which makes this preferable to some places in downtown Edmonds. So I ate here several years ago and enjoyed the meal. Today I tried take out. Caprese salad, chicken parm and gyro..... hate to say wouldn't order any of those again. Beyond food being cold, chicken was tough and chewy, gyro... meager, caprese.. tolerable. I expect more for food I go out and pay for, soooo disappointing after looking fwd to trying again. My wife & I have been ordering pizza to go from Portofinos for probably 20 years. We nearly always order the same pizza that we like very much, the #7 Peperoni, Black Olives, Italian Sausage & Mozzarella. We always request BAKED tomato slices added. This is where it somehow gets complicated. It seems that at least 50% percent of the time the chef tosses raw tomatoes on the pizza after it has been baked. It's not rocket science, Baked mean's baked. Tonight 6\22 they forgot the tomatoes altogether.I requested that they just drop the extra tomatoes from the bill, but the chef insisted on adding some. I stated I didn't want to wait, but he took the pizza & added tomatoes that that really didn't get baked, just warmed up. My wife ordered lasagna that turned out to be a molten pile of cheese & overcooked pasta that was gooey and had no body or consistancy. in case the manager wants to review our order, it was ticket # 631294. I thought I'd give this place another try so we went for Easter brunch. It was a very simple menu that none of us thought had anything interesting on it. We ordered off the main menu. I ordered. Frutti d Mare which was linguine with prawns and squid. I also ordered a side salad. Side salad came and was iceberg lettuce with mozzarella and olives. I was very surprised because I thought quite a long time ago they changed to mixed greens. It was bland. I got my main dish and the prawns were grossly overcooked. I couldn't even eat them so I just ate the pasta but for $26 this is ridiculous. It's no wonder that no one was in there but us. The eggplant Parmesan consisted of 4 dry, poker chip size slices of eggplant coated in a bulletproof crust, neatly arranged over a plate with unsauced spaghetti on one half of the plate, and a puddle of tomato sauce on the other. Our two small village salads were heavy on the onions and slightly mushy cucumbers. These bits were covered with tasteless cheese crumbs, but no dressing. The salad ingredients were cut into small pieces of various shapes that were difficult to manage with lightweight forks provided. My friend found his usual small pizza pleasant, but unrecognizable. That meal for two, with no wine or beer, came to $72. This is my friend's go to neighborhood restaurant. I hope the owner does something about the dismal quality of the food we had tonight. If the cook has no idea how to prepare a dish, take it off the menu. If all you can prepare well is pizza, be honest about it. Don't entice diners with lots of menu items then fail to deliver and charge $72 for a barely edible meal. read more

We celebrated our granddaughters 20th bithday at Portofino's a few days ago. The food was delicious, a nice selection to choose from for our party of 15. The service was wonderful. Cute Italian restaurant nestled up in Edmonds, less than a 10 minute drive or 30 minute walk to the Edmonds Waterfront area.  Abundant, mouth watering assortment of vegan options!  Why have I not known about this place before? Their vegan food is incredibly tasty, hearty and robust, comfort food that goes goes to your belly while warming your heart!  I found everything to be reasonably priced and portion sizes to be quite generous (as it would have to be, to put that "tofu" on your bones :P ) In the interest of presenting a fair and balanced review, I have two items of note.  First, their Greek Salad didn't come across as greek to me. The Daiya cheese shreds don't work in this presentation, maybe some "feta" cheese instead (super easy to make from tofu), some mint leaves, etc. Second, their vegan menu can be tricky to find. If you go to their website and navigate to their menu, the only vegan options you'll see are a small, medium and large size vegan pizza.  In order to find their full extensive vegan menu, you'll first want to click the "Order Onine" button, on the next page .. scroll down until you see the Vegan section.  They also do not have a separate printed vegan menu in house, just fyi! I placed an order for pizza at 4:45 PM. During checkout, the system gave me the option to have it delivered at a future time, so I chose 6:45 PM to line up with the start of the ball game. The delivery timing wasn't terrible--the pizza arrived shortly after 6:45--but the problem was what I found when I opened the box. It was immediately obvious the pizza had been cooked at 4:45 when I first placed the order, and then left sitting until it was sent out with the driver. By the time I got it, the pizza was cold, dry, chewy, and hard--honestly worse than a frozen pizza from the grocery store. This was unacceptable. If a restaurant offers a scheduled delivery option, it should mean the pizza is prepared fresh near the scheduled time, not hours earlier. If they're going to cook it right away and let it sit, customers deserve to know that up front so we can make an informed choice. Otherwise, it completely defeats the point of scheduling. This was one of the worst pizzas I've ever had, and I would never serve something like that to a guest--let alone my own family. But apparently, this restaurant thinks that's acceptable. Be cautious if you decide to order here, and don't expect quality or common sense when it comes to food preparation. read more

Stopped in with family again as it was our third time! My nephew loves the pizza and pepperoni rolls my brother and shared a BBQ Chicken pizza and it was delicious. Ordered small side salads and the amount of lettuce and cheese was incredible for a small.. Olives for days also.... The Italian dressing was not that good it was all oil but I like my dressings with a lot of vinegar. Seems expensive compared to Seattle places we get the same food and my niece said her Pepperoni Calzone was boring and asked for light cheese and it was lots of cheese ( I wouldn't have mind ) Over all my brothers family really likes this place my Nephew can't get enough of the Pepperoni Rolls and pizza! read more

The pear pasta with Gorgonzola sauce was delicious! The butter and Gorgonzola combined to create a rich, velvety, sweet and tangy perfection. It didn't taste like overly heavy whipping cream based like others I've tried have been. The eggplant parm was not the as good but they still get five stars for offering a vegan option with the cheese and the marinara was fantastic! I was like where is the sauce but didn't care bc the bread was sooo perfect!!! Idk who is cooking back there, but thank you! Now, if you have room for dessert, highly suggest that you get the turtle silk caramel dessert. The chocolate is silky smooth, the caramel with the pecans were just "oh" so good! I was totally in the mood for coffee, but didn't have time to enjoy everything I needed (I wanted something else). I love that this restaurant has options for low carb meals! Last time I was here I got the low card chicken & veggies in an Alfredo sauce with a huge garden salad. Tonight ordered the meat balls in a marinara sauce with cheese. It was good! Husband ordered the Greek salad with a house red wine. Mine came with a garden salad with Ranch dressing. I also ordered a gin hot toddy with a slice of lemon. So good! Surprised it wasn't real crowded. Especially since it's Valentines Day. Mostly older couples. Lots of very good food here. The Pasta Bella is amazing. You wouldn't think that a pasta dish that prominently features celery would be good, but it is. We enjoy coming for dinner- either to dine in with family or have a couple drinks while we wait for a pizza to-go. The food is quite good! There are tasty vegetarian, gluten-free and low-carb choices on the menu. We have had the low-carb crust-less pizza, and the Alfredo chicken bowl. Both were exactly as expected, and the menu seems fairly-priced. The service is pretty good, and kind, really. But it is not a superbly professional experience. And the bathroom floors were pretty dang sticky. Overall, I highly recommend visiting them for a good meal in a nice dining room. They have a lovely bar and show current sports on the bar tv. Therefore, I suspect, if everything here were absolutely top-of-the-line, prices would reflect and we'd probably be standing at the back of a long line! read more

Had an unforgiving-able experience with the staff, specifically the management. Placed an order through DoorDash, all the food I ordered I got delivered besides a cheesecake I ordered. I called the restaurant to get the issue resolved they suggested that they could bring back the cheesecake but we decided against it because we thought getting an refund would be more simple than the driver bringing back the cheesecake but boy oh boy were we wrong. Was told to call DoorDash but I still had additional comments to state, but the phone was hung up on my face. I attempted to contact DoorDash to get a refund for the missing item, but because the status of the order wasn't changed from in process to delivered I wasn't able to get a refund in that moment. I called back the restaurant shortly after contacting DoorDash to go about changing the status to delivered, only to be told that they couldn't do that by staff and then eventually the manager. I was incredible confused by that, so my partner spoke to the manager to get clarity on the situation. My partner stated everything I stated and then asked to have the status changed. Manager stated to my partner that he'd changed the status while speaking to him and then IMMEDIATELY hung the phone on him mid conversation. We checked DoorDash immediately after the conversation to see if the status was changed. Surprise surprise, it wasn't changed until an hour or so later. TLDR: Food was decent but experience with management is unforgivable. They weren't focused on truly helping the customer. Had the manager the manager hang up the phone mid conversation twice. Overheard the manager belittling staff because he was STILL on the phone. Experienced the manager lying to us and etc. We will never give this establishment our time, energy, and business. read more

I believe Portofino has either changed hands or had an "updo" since the pandemic, and though it lost its "family " ambiance to a more " date night" structure, I believe it's a pretty good upgrade. Went to Portofino for a lunch date (have been here before) and would recommend it to anyone. The vibes are good and the pasta is fine -- the lasagna is always a strong choice, and the pear pasta is balanced well with the garlic bread. Coffee is good. But the true, best part of Portofino is the crème brûlée. Everything about it has been perfect each time we've had it. I want to gatekeep this crème brûlée but I've been told not to. We would pay $70 for a bucket of the crème brûlée and $100 for a buffet of endless Portofino crème brûlée. Service was excellent, but we were the only ones when we went. 4.5 overall, but the crème brûlée... Nothing has occupied my mind for the last two years like this crème brûlée. read more

I enjoyed the food, I ordered Caesar salad, lasagne and bruschetta. My friend ordered the creamy pesto fettuccine and a Caesar. We both pretty much cleaned our plates. Bruschetta was not typical. It was fresh tomato, basil and melted cheese on toast with a side of marinara. I wouldn't order it again. The menu had some interesting items, that I want to try, but was hungry, so just wanted something hearty tonight. Service was a little haphazard, but very friendly. It's a little pricey, Ambiance was nice. Cute place with comfortable booths. Well stocked bar, interested drink menu. It was a little on the loud side, but not overwhelmingly so. It's your typical strip mall Italian place. I guess something about it attracts the elderly because the average age of everyone there was about 78. Ordered the chicken parm. Tomato sauce had decent flavor and the cheese was okay. The chicken was tough and the breading came right off. Especially underneath where it was super soggy. Garlic bread was a joke. The food was honestly 2 stars but the fast and friendly waiting staff earned them an extra point. Place was clean on the inside, food came out quick. We waited for 15 minutes before someone even touched the table for a drink order. They brought my salad but also brought the main entree salad and my Mom waited for her entree. The "Garden Salad" was a plate of iceberg lettuce with some sliced olives and mozzarella cheese, I guess the garden part of that was the iceberg lettuce!
