Johnny's Burgers is my favorite burger spot in Riverside. There's so much to love! The location is great, with nice outdoor seating and close proximity to the movie theatre right across the street, other great food and dessert spots next door in case a friend wants something else. I'm often here on Tuesday nights before a discount movie across the way. This meal is my go-to. A cheeseburger combo, but change the fries for the fried zucchini. In my opinion, this is the best fried zucchini around. I know no one can seem to agree on this, but I really don't know how anyone could disagree. They come out HOTTT, juicy, perfectly salty, and with a massive cup of ranch for dipping (and cooling!). The burger itself is like most other mom and pop burger stands around (George's, Lucky Greek, Niko's Burgers), but I'd still say this one is consistently better. It's always my favorite with the perfect ratio of meat, cheese, veggies, and sauce. They still trust you enough to have the soda fountain self service which is also a plus. More and more places are putting it behind the counter. Lastly I'll add that I love the 50's vibe inside and well working A/C! It's a little small inside, but like I mentioned above the outside seating at Riverside Plaza is already so great. read more

We've ordered Johnny's burgers on DD many times and their food is always fresh and consistently delicious. The only downside is when you order on DD, there is some confusion with the toppings you want on your burger. For example, I have an onion allergy. On the cheeseburger combo it gives you the option of, "I do not want: onion," and then it charges you .50 more for NOT wanting that topping. It's also weird because onion is a standard burger topping and you shouldn't be charged anything extra for getting it, and especially NOT if don't want it. You cannot add any special requests message so please fix this Johnny's! Last time I ordered, I got the Ortega Swiss burger since it doesn't come with any onions, and it was really good. read more

The burgers were delicious and the fries were fresh and crispy, no soggy fries here. We waited very little for our food and this place was popping on a Saturday for lunch. No apology no offer to correct the order. His response " I didn't charge you " "i didn't hear you" The charge was not the issue. The order being incorrect was the issue. This was my first time having Johnnys in a long time since I moved out of state. When I got there, it was a nice and welcoming space. It was nice and clean and you could tell they want their customers to have a positive and welcoming environment. When I went to take my daughter and I's orders, the cashiers there were both very friendly. I even asked one for their names, and he said it was Jacob and the other cashier's name was Lily. After I got my food, it was nice and warm how I like it and I got a burger and my daughter got the kids meal. We enjoyed the service and will be coming back again. The burger and fries were decent. I added chili, cheese and bacon to my burger. There was an older gentleman and a young guy preparing the food, and there was a young lady ringing up customers and packing up the to-go bags. My food was placed on a tray, but the lady wasn't able to tend to it, because she was assisting customers. My burger sat on the tray for about 5 minutes. Considering my burger had chili on it, every second counts between preparation and consumption. I ate my burger in the car, as I didn't want to allow anymore time to pass and the bottom half of it was a soggy mess that I wound up throwing in the trash. The only available seating was outside: luckily, we were able to sit at a table with an umbrella that provided shade for only 1/4 of the table. It was already approaching 90° so this un-sheltered seating/eating area was a big negative for me. Also there were only two tables w/umbrellas, the rest offer no shading from the sun. We placed our order: Calif. Burger x1 @$7.39 Double Cheeseburger x1 @$10.99 French Fries x1 @$2.899 Large Soda x1 @2.19 The double cheeseburger comes with fries and a large soda. Pre-tip total: $25.51 After a short wait, I could see our order was being bagged inside from our table outside. There is no outdoor PA system to hear your order number being called out either. Underwhelmed was my immediate reaction to seeing my double cheeseburger with the old Wendy's commercial tag line of : "Where's the beef"? Granted, the $10.99 pricing includes fries and a large soda, but I would rather have a burger that contains a patty or two that gives the semblance of the type of burger one normally sees in a non-chain hamburger business. The fries were the typical, institutional bulk frozen fries that I call batter style fries. The type of fries that seem to be molded or extruded from a potato batter: fries similar in nature as what are served at Red Robins. Service overall was very pleasant and friendly. First off they don't welcome or greet you anytime I go in there. But let's get to The young man with glasses that takes the orders is incredibly rude. So I arrive to a short line no big deal I wait about ten minutes the person who's about to get helped apparently she had been there a while before I got there. The walks away never coming back to the register more people coming in still not greeting anyone. Starts cleaning then bagging orders they look a little behind so I'm being patient the lady in front of me it's getting a little upset because she's being ignored so I step in go to the register ask the young man " hello? Are you guys a little backed up?" He looks at his co workers and starts laughing. Then turns and says "yall need to chill" then continues to ignore us and clean. We wait a few more mins then the women in front of me who was waiting a long time asks "can I please order now I'm in a little bit of a hurry. He comes up to the register with a huge attitude. "What can I get you?" She says "I just an order of fries" she had a son with autism who was crying inside where the husband had to take him outside. Because he only like to get fries. He hands her the fries in a bag. As soon as she walks out I said " can I order now?" I told him I apologize if I interrupted him if he was backed up or busy. He continued with the attitude and said " if I was taking so long then doing all this talking is taking up more time" then he said while I was talking. "What can I get you?" What can I get you?" I said "you know what good bye.. him and his coworkers started laughing. Mind you the restaurant was filled with customers. This is not the first time he has acted like this with customers he's always rude. And if he's this comfortable being like this with us he's doing it to everyone. He has horrible customer service skills. He shouldn't be working the register. There should be a more friendly person working the register a better face for the company. It really puts a bad taste in peoples mouth. I've watched many people walk out after that happened, I've been there before in the past where people have walked out. They don't know how to greet people and welcome people. Johnny's burgers have always got a good name, especially the original one on Madison. This one is giving it a bad name. I hope whoever runs this place finds this review and is in charge and disciplines this person. It's not OK. I will not be returning to this location. Ordered a Pastrami and it was rather small and they somehow gave me burnt left overs in the pot. None of the pastrami was in tact of full strips. It seemed like small burnt pieces.
