Lakeway Floors - Newly Installed Wood Steps

    Lakeway Floors

I am a local interior designer and recently used Lakeway Floors for a job. They ordered the wrong…read morecolor floors for the job, blamed it on the client not catching it in the invoice and then tried to convince me to keep the incorrect floors. I asked several times for a call with the owner, my requests went unanswered for a week. When I finally got on the phone with the owner he, again, pushed responsibility on the client, he raised his voice at me, he was sarcastic, he was defensive and he was condescending. Prior work on a 45 million dollar house was then thrown in my face as a way to justify their capabilities to install flooring. I never insinuated they couldn't lay a good product, I had an issue with the customer service. There is no reason grown men should be behaving this way. I have worked with many, many vendors and this is the exact behavior you want to RUN from when there is an issue. The reality is mistakes happen, especially in this industry, more often than not. It's how the mistake is handled that is important. The business owner should get curious about the complaint and take the bad experience as a learning of what not to do on the next job. There is no reason to be hostile during a conversation about a mistake the business owner's team had made. And there is certainly no reason to blame it on the paying customer. I'd highly recommend looking elsewhere for your flooring needs. Edited to add I am the one who hired Lakeway Floors, aside from signing the contract, I was the primary point of contact. My client hired me because they don't know anything about replacing floors, they leaned on my expertise. Regardless of being the main point of contact, my client didn't want to be involved as she couldn't answer the questions Lakeway Floors was asking, they tried to push me out of all communications. This makes me believe they want to deal with someone who doesn't understand the process and what should be expected so they can easily gaslight them which is what they did to her. They told me SHE was to blame for signing off on the wrong invoice they compiled and sent her. Also important to add she is more furious about this experience than I am.

The owner came to our house to discuss our options and take measurements. Both installation crews were great. The wood installers did a high quality install, the wood stairs and floors look great, the attention to detail on steps, the edges was great. The carpet crew, a different crew, also did a great high quality job. I would recommend Lakeway Floors to anyone.

I was going to write a review about these guys, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. The manager was ugly on the phone even when I offered to have him speak to my contractor for a solution. Said he didn't have to do anything for me. Okay, so you couldn't be bothered to call me for four days, and then you just called to be ugly and offer no solution? Wow. (please note my other reviews. I am not "one of those" and appreciate a good job.)

We had chase do our floors and stairs and there are several things that you should understand…read morebefore doing business with them. First, they DO NOT do finish work. This means that if you have your stairs done, you will need to hire a separate contractor to come in and do the trim work, nosing, handrails, etc. Also, they do not offer wood slats that cover then entire tread. They will need to be capped on the sides and the ends with a material that doesn't match the wood in the middle of the tread. Second, you will need to hire someone to come in behind them and do paint and touch up work. Changing out wood floors is a messy business and Chase did not offer to clean up the damage (scrapes mostly) to our sheet rock and floor boards. Finally, you will need to proceed carefully. After several conversations with "the boss" none of our issues were corrected and we had to hire several additional contractors at our own expense to finish the job.

We did everything but the bathrooms, so our project included closets, entryways, living room, dining rooms, kitchen, bedrooms, and undercutting the stone fireplace and stone kitchen island. There was even some leveling (due to builder decisions about our slab that we discovered on demo) that needed to be done, and they handled it perfectly. We received four quotes for this work and Bill's estimate was by far the best. He brought samples of our favorites out for us to look at in our home when he did the measuring. He was accommodating and straightforward. Bill makes a schedule and sticks to it no matter what, which is a refreshing change of pace compared to literally every other contractor in the area, flooring or otherwise. The man is no-nonsense and we appreciate that! You won't find schmoozy small talk with this man; you will find fair pricing and on-time, quality work from honest people. The crew was excellent. Very tidy and polite. They were done within 5 days, just as promised. The whole job of sanding and cutting was necessarily messy so I urge others to be patient and communicate their needs. My advice: If you are doing a large hardwood floor project and you don't want dust on something, then cover it up or move it. We could not be happier with our floors. Everyone who comes to our house notices them and compliments them! The upgrade has been unbelievable. We still look at our hardwood floors in awe of their beauty and are so happy with the install.

Truly amazing quality product and installation, as well as top notch customer service…read more We were preparing our home in Circle C to sell during summer 2020, and Lone Star floors was amazing to work with, and the quality of their workmanship is stellar. I cannot emphasize enough that it is not just the product that is important. The workmanship is *everything* and Bill's crew (José and Arturo) are truly skilled. Absolutely beautiful and solid installation of the wood floors and carpet. No lumps, no lifting boards. I know how important that is now that I'm living in a new home in DFW that did *not* have a quality installation like Lone Star Floors does. What a headache. When it comes time to replace the flooring in my Austin rental home, 100% I will be calling Bill. He knew exactly which products would work for our Circle C home, and he is the most knowledgeable flooring professional I have ever met. Thank you, Bill, Arturo and José for making our home so easy to sell during COVID! The buyers commented that they were absolutely in love with the floors!

I already had carpet and flooring picked out from another seller but my husband mentioned that Designer Floors nows sells countertops. Since we needed both new flooring and new countertops, we went to their showroom. I'm *really* glad we did. We ended up spending over ten thousand dollars and it was worth every penny. First, I loved all the selections that Designer Floors offered. Because of the layout of their store, I was able to see in bigger format how our carpet would match up with our other flooring, back splash and countertops. Second, Robert was super patient with me as I grilled him on everything they offered. He really had no problem with me going back and forth on a variety of options. He walked through them all and handled my questioning (read : pickiness) with professionalism, and I felt really confident about my choice by the end. I wanted to stay within a budget, but have really nice floors and countertops. We bought a house a few years ago and didn't install new flooring until the month before we sold it. This time, I wanted to do it right and *LIVE* in a house with beautiful flooring. I also needed the floors to withstand three kids and two big dogs. Lastly, install was great. Like even better than I expected. I was a little weary because we had an uneven foundation but when the installers came over they were able to level it back up. The first round was to lay carpet. Second round was to test our concrete before laying LVT flooring. Final round was LVT installation. While it was a fairly straightforward process, its still overwhelming when you first start out. Now that they were finished, our floors are awesome. We have a new kitchen island, with beautiful granite countertops. It looks amazing! A month later and I am giddy every time I come home and see my new house! Everything is sooo clean and easy to keep clean. I love that. Seriously, I can't say enough wonderful things about Designer Floors (and they sell countertops!!). They really made our remodeling experience so much easier and I am glad we used them.
