We went again last night and the great band was playing THE STEPHEN LEE BAND. They played one Sunday every month. The choices of music was great, they are all cute and friendly guys. They are very professional and our friends loved them. The ladies were all in the dance floor whenever this guys played and all the guys were having a great time. All the people who came there last night were very friendly. We get a lot of dance from someone we don't know but still we had a great time . My girlfriends and I had the BEST time on Friday night. It's not very often that we can go to a club and feel safe on the dance floor. We danced all night long and had a great time! The drinks were STRONG which is usually the complete opposite when you go to a bar these days. The staff was super nice and helped me out when I lost my phone. I have been a customer at Johnny's for over 30 years and celebrate almost every birthday there, since Johnny has sold the club every year is down hill. The management there makes sure you know that you are not a valuable customer to them. I have had so many bad experiences there but the last was one of the worst. We went there and we sat at a table which I had reserved, a Vice President of a large food company in Atlanta which is a senior citizen attempted to move a table and chair a couple of inches just a little so he could comfortably sit and eat his dinner at the table when the General Manager Edgar rudely said if you guys want a job I can give you an application, Then he said do not touch my tables. How rude, instead of finding out if his customer was comfortable he turned on him. They consistently turn from worst to worst, they feel that their show is the only show so they could care less of your comfort or the treatment you receive while spending money there. I know Johnny Espaezido I know he has turn over in his grave over and over again. How they were ever picked for the move I am still in Aw. They may have met the man that made it what it was when he sold it to this rude crew. Not all of the employees are that way some of the young men at the door are welcoming and the waitress Janet is consistent and always wonderful, she left for a minute and was really missed by many. For the sake of Johnny I will still visit but we have really cut our trips to our traditional celebrations that we always go there. read more

Attention all Women. My friends and I went here last weekend to celebrate a birthday. We had only had two drinks and two of us got really sick. One friend fell over in her chair and the bouncer was trying to pull her down a hall out the back door to a dark parking lot. Why would you take a female out back by herself? We took a taxi to the hospital and we had the date rape drug in our system. This could have turned out to be a terrible night. Thank goodness the other two women in our group knew this was not right and didn't get drugged so they could get us to the hospital. Most women just think they are having a bad hang over and don't get tested the next day. The drug leaves your system in 11 hours so it is not traced. read more

The place was a dive but still a fun atmosphere and most people seemed great, but I only transferred $20 over to my debit card so I didn't buy to many drinks, and when the bartender saw that he announced to everyone "You only have $20 in your account so I'm closing you out now, after my FIRST TWO DRINKS, then come to find out they still drained the entire $20 from my account as a "precaution" and said it would be returned in 1-2 business days, I have never heard of a bar doing this and find it completely irresponsible, then after that I used the restroom for no more than 90 seconds to come back and fine my seat taken, I politely I formed the man that I was sitting there, with my drink still on the bar, and he grudgingly responded with "well I'm here now and so is my drink" so I raised my voice with him a bit and his pompous buddy responded with "hey calm it down" and I decided to be the bigger man and walk away and they STILL called security on me, who thankfully did nothing. I understand that part is not the fault of the establishment but they should do more to resolve these unjust situations once security is involved. So after all of that I angrily left with nothing but a couple drinks, a debit card charged twice what it should have been, and a very rude interaction with a guest, with security taking no action, the crowd was nice but this is not what I look the experience on my night out. I will most likely not be returning here and save my time and money somewhere else. read more

This wasn't a bad bar but it has an overzealous Manager/Bouncer. I was there on Wednesday night having a good time with my colleagues drinking their very expensive drinks when we were getting ready to leave, one of my colleagues stood on the footrest under the table to stand above the crowd and see if we could see another of our colleagues so we could checkout and leave. At that time the Jr. Bouncer shined a Laser light in both our eyes blinding both of us. He came over and rudely approached my colleague and very sarcastically told him to sit down. I walked over to that person and asked to speak to his manager, at which time he pointed to this overzealous Manager/Bouncer. I approached this gentlemen and asked him to have his guy not shine that light in peoples eyes because it may bother someones equilibrium. He said NO! I asked why the F%^K not at that time he told me to leave. I started to explain I had to get my people and pay my bill when he grabbed me from behind around the throat and tried to choke me out while two others grabbed my arms and pushed me out. I am 63 years old, overweight, with a heart condition. I had a recent triple bypass, and no threat to him. I am a Corporate Executive and my Lawyer will be contacting the owner of this establishment and be bring suit against him because when you enter a business you have an expectation to be safe. NOT TO HAVE SOMEONE GRAB YOU AND TRY TO CHOKE YOU. The owner of this establishment Chris Dauria has a duty to train his personnel to speak to patrons not physically abuse them. NO ONE has the right to put their hands on you if he didn't like what I had to say he had to option to call the Police and they would ask me to leave. Not some thug! read more

Dance, hang out with friends and meet new people, oh, and drink if that is your thing. That's what Johnnys is all about. All ages all mixed together. Watch the show on the dance floor. -Music volume is not too loud and allows people to talk. This is a plus. -Ladies need never feel harassed by some obnoxious drunk. If you do, just tell any employee that you are feeling bothered by the person and watch the fast response! They obviously work hard to create a safe place for ladies so everyone can have fun. Most obnoxious folks have already been thrown out of there and are not allowed back in. -Younger people, don't freak out when you see some older people. You might actually learn some manners from them! Realize that the oldsters are also tolerating YOU for lack of manners in not knowing to never bring drinks or smokes on the dance floor or the ultimate sin; touching the mirror ball! -Friday and Saturday night get really crowded. If you don't like crowds then leave before 11PM or go on another night, Sunday night has a live band and a DJ. Wed. is ladies night and gets some swing dancer types.. -You can call ahead to save a seat, but will need to get there by 8:30 or so. I usually bring a jacket to hang on my bar seat so when I come back from dancing I can point it out if need be to whoever is sitting there when I return. -Politeness usually gets a polite response. There is just a bit of old southern manners going on here, so my suggestion is to smile, use basic courtesy and be friendly with people. Copping an attitude doesn't fly well and my guess is that some of the less than positive reviews here are founded on the writer assuming folks should make way for them. I have learned that simply sticking my hand out and saying a smiling "Hello" is an effective ice-breaker.. -The one big negative...Smokers! If you don't like smoke then pick any nights but Friday or Saturday. -I have found it pleasant to learn employees names and not skimp on the tips. While we are getting loose, the employees are working hard to support spouses, kids, etc. Personal relationships count for something here. I attended a funeral for a fellow customer some years ago that was attended by multiple employees of Johnnys. The place can become like family for regulars. -I don't drink alcohol so I order bottled water. There's a two drink minimum. -I have gone to many other bars and dance places in metro Atlanta and always end up coming back to Johnnys for a variety of good dance music and a positive atmosphere. OMG!!! What is up @ Johnny's??? Went on Sat 3/12 got valet, paid $10 for two, took 5 steps in the door and couldn't move. Pushed myself over to the bar got 2 Rum&Cokes for $14, lit my cig and couldn't lift my arm to take a puff. Little drinks but strong..not bad. Cant tell you about rest of bar 'cause couldn't see if from the wall of people jammed inside the club. Wonder why there are not pictures inside the bar? Its so crowded that you can't lift your arm to take the picture. Been all over the US @clubs and never in my life saw a place so jammed packed. Major fire hazzard!!! Slammed down the drink and got the hell out!!! Many others were leaving for the same reason...poor the valet guys...running. As soon as they park the car, people are ready to leave. Always a good time. If you once loved dancing and having fun this is the place for you! My girlfriends and I always go here, there is always a good crowd and so much energy... If I could give this place less than 1 star I would. I have been going to Johnny's Hideaway for years now and would have given this 5 stars hands down until this past weekend. My friends and I went on Saturday night. We waited in an extremely long line but figured it was worth it because Johnny's is always a good time. When we got in a bouncer led us to an open table which we found odd but surprisingly friendly. It turned out to be a huge mistake. The server we had was an absolute nightmare. We got our drinks and went straight to the dance floor. The music and dancing were great! One of our friends comes to the floor and tells us there are a bunch of shots at our table so naturally we assumed he had bought them for us. When we go back to the table the shots continue to come yet nobody is ordering them. There were probably a good 12 shots on the table that nobody even touched! When the end of the night comes we get a $176 bill! There was a total of 3 drinks on the tab and the rest consisted of the shots none of us drank. We told the server that we did not order the shots and were not going to pay for something we did not get. She proceeds to get her manager who tells us we have to pay for these shots no matter what! What sort of place makes you pay for something you did not even ask for or even drink for no less. The entire night turned into a disaster. To top it off the server ended up stealing $40 from our table. I will NEVER go back to this place and will never recommend it to anyone else. The WORST customer service. A group of patrons were moving out of the way to allow other people to get on the dance floor, slightly moving a table in the process. One of the waitresses, I was told her name was Janette, walked over and shoved the table at the group of patrons then proceeded to call one young woman a "whore". The waitress ran away refusing to tell her name to the group of patrons, reinforcing that she was at fault. When brought up to the security guard who saw part of the encounter, he walked over to the waitress and corroborated a story prior to talking with the manager telling him it was the patron who shoved the table at the waitress. Five of us watched the encounter and proceeded to speak with the Manager and another member of staff to clear up any confusion, as it seemed like the right thing to do and we have enjoyed coming here for years. Disappointingly, the Manager stood up for the waitress. Any company who allows their staff to demean their customers and call their patrons "whores" is not a place I will spend my money. read more

I went here on a Friday night for a birthday party. Let me say this- I am old (not for this place, I mean in general), and I go out a lot. Meaning I am in bars all the time. Now, generally you cannot drag me kicking and screaming above 14th street, so maybe what I experienced is totally normal in "clubs" or in Buckhead, but this was crazy to me. Ok, so I got there before everybody else in my group so I ordered a drink at the bar and gave them my card. This is what I normally do at every other bar in Atlanta. Or anywhere. Then about 5-6 of my group showed up, so we got a high top table. The waitress had someone give a card. I totally get that, too- of course she doesn't want to get f-ed at the end of the night by people running out on tabs. Next, about 4-5 other people in our group show, and they get a second table. The waitress states they will only allow this if the table is held by the first person's card. What? The second table can't give a second card. Anyway, when the waitress comes over I am told I cannot use my card/tab at the bar, and that our entire group of (by that time) 12-15 people will "lose" our tables if I order a drink from the bar. Really. I try to pay the waitress cash. She will not accept it. Really. I try to give her my card. Nope. Another person in our party shows up and proceeds to the bar. The waitress comes to her at the bar and tells her she cannot order from the bar. This girl never sat at the table. So basically, we had maybe 15 or so people gathered near or around 2 tables with 8 chairs. Yet the entire 15 people HAD to put every single drink ordered onto 1 person's card. And yes, that person got completely f-ed at the end of the night. --- all this is my own fault, I know I shouldn't go to Buckhead. The 2 stars instead of 1 are because the drinks were cheap and they played Under Pressure vs Ice Ice Baby. Cheers! read more

My husband and I LOVED going to johnnies to dance, this was our place to have fun for three years. yes it is a tacky dive bar, but we just loved the music and would get there early and had our favorite Dj's, we would leave pretty early, the latest would be 11pm. Then something happened....twice ...I got roofied....twice....the second time was so bad, the EMS was called, I had collapsed on the floor and couldn't get up.I had only two drinks in a 2 hour period, believe me I wasn't drunk!!!!! I ended in the hospital the whole night.....unfortunately they could not determine which drug it was as they only test for stuff like heroine, cocaine, weed, xanax and all the usual type of drugs...NOT for rohypnol..the date rape drug or also know as roofie. So we could not prove anything, although the ER doctor told us she was sure it was a date rape drug but can't put it on paper. We have been trying to get in touch with the GM (Chris) he would never return any phone call, we even stopped by one day to see if Chris was there to talk with him in person, not to make any problems for johnnies, we just wanted to see if management has anything in place to cut down or do anything about the existing drug problem that has been going on for years as we heard later. We were still so in love with our dancing evenings, we were willing to do whatever it takes (finish our drinks before we dance etc.) .... but we never heard anything from Chris so we didn't go back for weeks but I really missed our dancing nights and decided to go back one thursday night. We agreed to finish our drinks before hitting the dance floor. We were served our drinks and suddenly a manager showed up and told us our business was no longer welcome and we needed to leave and that we had 2 INCIDENTS (me getting ruffied) and we could no longer come in to dance. We were spoken to as if WE were the criminals that drugged me. Management obviously doesn't know how to deal with their drug problem, so it's easier to not let people in who got drugged, because it really 'inconvenienced' the club that an EMS had to come and quoting "they had to turn on the lights and your husband screamed at our managers". REALLY????? My husband was of course extremely upset, I wasn't responding laying on the floor and I could have died, he did ask and yes screamed why are they not doing anything about this problem? We were never told if they caught or suspected anybody, we have an idea of who could have done it, but we never got to voice that to management, so the problem is still out there folks, BE CAREFUL!!!! I just wish management would at least have communicated with us of whatever they were thinking, but NO... we were humiliated by a bouncer who told us our business is no longer welcome. Johnnies will be forever out of our lives, we will find another place to dance that deserves our business. But for sure I will warn everybody I come across who wants to visit Johnnies Hideway. I wouldn't waste your time and money on Johnny's Hideaway. First of all, the wait to get in is ridiculous. There's obviously no need for a wait to get in because you can pay extra ($30 per person) to by-pass the line, which is what my husband and I did both times that we've been to Johnny's. Second of all, the dance floor is too small, it's impossible to get to the bar to order drinks, and the wait staff only serves the clientele that are lucky enough to get a seat. We were willing to put up with the overcrowding and paying extra to by-pass the line so we gave it 2nd try because we love the 80's music. However, after our 2nd experience, we will not be patronizing Johnny's Hideaway again. On our 2nd visit we were treated extremely rudely by one of the waitresses. She literally shoved us every time she was attempting to get through the crowd to serve drinks. She never said "excuse me" or asked us to let her through, she simply came up behind us and shoved with her shoulder, elbow, etc and one time swung her arm across my husbands back to get him to move. Then she made rude comments as she passed by. This happened repeatedly. Unfortunately, I did not get this waitresses name but she tall and has long blond hair and a HUGE attitude. If she chooses to work in an environment where people are drinking and having a good time and that irritates her to the point that she can't do her job, then she should choose a different profession. And if she can't make that decision, Johnny's management should make it for her and get rid of her. Until then, we will not be returning to Johnny's Hideaway and we will share our poor experience with all of our friends. There are too many other choices in Atlanta where we can spend our money, have fun and not be treated rudely by the wait staff. read more
