This is my second time buying from John's auto sales. I can't say how grateful I am to have a place i can confidently buy a quality car from. Listen i hate the thought of buying a car as much as the next man but with this team it was a walk in the park. From John and his son Jimmy to the sales representative to the team of technicians i was greated with smiles and warm welcome. ​last time I bought from them was 2020 and my car drove like a dream. I drove that beautiful machine into an early grave due to my job putting an additional 120,000 miles on it. I bought a 2019 Dodge Grand caravan from these guys. During the test-drive, everything seemed fine. Keep in mind, it was in Boston at rush hour, so I probably never got it up over 20 MPH. But when I got it on the road to bring it home, the transmission was banging, the suspension was very soft, and the brakes were awful. I brought it back, and they fixed a lot of what was wrong with it. They loaned me a real BEATER to get by with while my van was being worked on. They even said they had the transmission "Serviced" (Whatever that means)... But the transmission continued to bang. Slowly getting worse. I wasn't able to bring it back again because of logistical reasons. I was suspicious about the transmission from day 1. Now, it is shot and needs to be rebuilt. I should have just returned it and cancelled the sale. Hindsight is 20-20. NEVER AGAIN. read more

I had a terrible experience purchasing a used Honda with numerous undisclosed problems: engine, AC, and electrical issues, plus a strong smoke odor they claimed would air out (it didn't, even after 3 rounds of professional cleaning). The customer service was initially very professional, but after purchase, they dodged my calls and delayed scheduling repairs. I ended up paying for all repairs myself and it took 3 tries to pass inspection. Eventually, I had to sell the car for significantly less than I paid. Save yourself the hassle and shop elsewhere. I was, at first, excited to find a 2012 F150 with relatively low mileage (65,000 mi), and very little rust. Within two weeks an immense amount of rust began bleeding through. These folks are masters of paint jobs. They even used some sort of tape, which was so perfectly matched to the color, that I never noticed that it was just tape. I feel completely duped. But I will say, no more American cars for me. Back to foreign all day!! The prices are right because you really get what you pay for. They will sell you a car in under 4 hours!! Fastest ever for me. But once there is something wrong with it, GOOD LUCK getting someone to call you back. My salesman was named Eric. STAY AWAY!! He is shady and and a liar. And don't get me started on how I am currently carrying two vehicles on my credit report because after a month my previous lender still hasn't received payment!!! Like WTF!! It's been a little over a month and they have my car for the 5th time. They say it's going to the dealer. I want to see this. Ugh!! (I would post Negative stars if I could) I've come to this place hearing about my in-laws knowing someone who works there and had no issues with the purchase. Okay, sounds reliable enough. Purchased a used 2010 Mitsubishi outlander with about 80k milage and with one owner. Unfortunately, it has been having problems conveniently after 30 days of a signed contract ended that they would cover for any issues. Not only that, I've visited several times to check if the car finished, only detailing was done to make it look presentable. Mind you, this was during the winter storms. For any new car purchasers, please be knowledgeable of what you are looking at under the hood. Anything beyond that including brakes, changing oil, etc, Ive had to deal with with outside auto repair. I'm still paying off the car I just purchased over 3 months ago and now on top of that our auto repair is needing to replace almost every part. Here we are, without a car because it is too dangerous to drive. Desperation was on my part for urgent need for transportation due to schooling and they knew it. The loan process was atrocious and very predatory with a high interest rate and a maximum down-payment. I have fantastic credit, but they had to have this high interest rate loan with a credit union and more than half of the down-payment for the car was really necessary? I dont usually write reviews, but I felt that this is necessary for future buyers, I would give this negative stars if I would. Please take your car purchasing elsewhere. read more

They are the worst people. They sold us a 2004 Ford F-150 that needed a new engine and frame. And on top of that they never fixed any or offered us a refund. And they knew that I was 16 and this would be my first car. No kid should have a car that has the risk of falling apart or blowing up. My spare tire fell off because of how rusted the frame was and that caused my truck to get launched up into the air. All I have to say is DO NOT GO THERE. They straight up suck. Sold me a 2015 RAV 4 (1 year ago) that was supposed to have leather interior. Didn't take any money off. We had to keep bringing in back to get the brakes done. They were never done properly for some reason and I had to pay out of pocket to have them done at my mechanic's place. The financing (with trade-in) was supposed to be around $12,000. Somehow, it ended up being almost $18,000! I should have just gone to Toyota and got a new one! Sold my husband a Porsche Cayenne S that has never been right since day 1. They also lied to me saying that I could refinance after 8 months of on-time payments. They don't hold the loan.... so how can THEY refinance? I called the loan company and they said: "Oh no, you're locked in for 5 years at this interest rate, you signed a contract!" - Thank Goodness I refinanced with my credit card company, Capital One. He told me if I didn't like it he'd get me something else I'm totally happy with it I did my test ride last night and Iibstalles a tool box with a ladder rack. My experience with John's Auto Sales was involved... I was not able to get the car inspected for several weeks after I bought it. When I finally did, it failed! A cracked catalytic converter failed the inspection and play in the right trailing arm made the car unstable on the highway. Needless to say, I was very upset. But John made good on the deal! He replaced the catalytic converter, fixed the trailing arm, replaced a couple of worn out links and torn rubber boots. All of that works was done at no charge, even though the 30 day warranty had expired. The car has since passed inspection and drives very well. John made the best out of a bad situation and turned out to be a man of his word. read more

For starters, I do want to mention that I went to the North Andover satellite dealer, however, the car came from Somerville and I eventually had to deal with the owner, John. I bought a 2009 Subaru Forrester recently from this dealership and everything from the test drive to the final sale, to failing my inspection, was hands down the worst experience of my car buying life! The dealer at the North Andover dealership, Bob, had me come back twice to finally test drive the car. He swore up and down that the car would pass inspection once I bought it. Well, I eventually did buy the car (after going back and forth from my bank because Bob kept getting everything wrong). After receiving the car to my house (gas tank on empty!), it took almost two weeks to finally get my registration. I kept calling Bob to get this so I could register the car and he lied to me, even going as far as to say that he had a funeral to go to. After finally receiving my registration, I went to register it...FAIL! At this point I was furious with Bob so I went straight to the Somerville dealership. There I met John, he was not only disrespectful to me, but said that it was my fault for not getting it inspected right away (I didn't have the registration and couldn't!). They didn't give me a rental as almost any dealership would, I was stuck in Somerville until morning when they "passed" the inspection. As of now I have already had to replace the brakes (to which Bob said were replaced before I bought it), and finally received my title which doesn't have the correct info on it for my loan! NEVER will I ever go back to this place and do yourself a favor, don't waste your time! read more

Went there with bad credit had cash down. Purchased a truck that was listed as 11k put 3k down but somehow ended up financing 15k??? Was told that was with interest the total amount id pay would be 15 since i have a high interest rate. Talked to the bank right away afterwards and they told me that was all a lie that infact my loan amount was for 15.??? I called the dealership on a Monday and I had found a car that I liked on their website. They told me to come in at 10:30 on Wednesday and it would be ready for me with a plate so I could take it to my mechanic and have them look at it. They told me nothing was wrong with the car. They called me Wednesday morning at 9:45 and told me there was no plate to be had and I could get there for 10:45 and it would be ready. I showed up at 10:45, the car was nowhere to be found, there was no plate ready and someone had lost the key. I had an appointment with my mechanic at 11:30 for them to do a diagnostic to make sure nothing was wrong with the car. At 11:30 the car finally showed up with the plate. I walked over to the car, opened up the hood and gave the car a good once over. The interior of the car was filthy, they also told me the AC did not work but they could fix that. I could see that all four tires needed to be replaced and there were leaves and debris under the hood. There was also a lot of rust and what looked like to be taped up hoses. I went back in and talked to Alvin and he said whatever was wrong with the car they would fix, they didn't have a lot of time to take a look at it before they put it in the lot and they have so many cars that they can't check everything out before they put it on the lot. None of this made any sense to me. Why would you show someone a car that looked like crap. I drove 40 minutes to look at a car that they told me was in perfect condition and ready to go with no problems. "If your mechanic finds anything wrong, we will fix it." At that point, it was 4 tires and the AC. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. If you're going to look at a car it should be ready to go. These guys are super shady. read more

I went to Johns Auto Sales to look at their "excellent condition" 2002 Ford Mustang GT. It is advertised online for $11,995 which is $1000 above market value for one in EXCELLENT condition. After arriving Paul gave me the keys and assured me that he personally knew the previous owner, who was an older mechanic who took only the best care of his vehicles. The second gear synchro in the transmission was destroyed, making it impossible to engage second gear. The AC did not work. The clutch slave cylinder was leaking. The throwout bearing was squeaking. The drivers side window falls out of its track when rolled down. The rear bumper is damaged, with the paint cracking and peeling. The headlight switch comes off when you turn them on. The rear heater grid does not work. The driver side side skirt is scratched. Be aware that CARFAX has it listed as a fleet vehicle. Upon finding all this I went back into the office and told Paul what I had found. He explained that he did not know much about the mechanical aspects of the vehicles and asked me to talk to his on site mechanics. I explained the issue, and was laughed at and told I was buying a used car, what did I expect and that it was a simple $50 clutch cable. I then explained TO THE MECHANICS that if it was a clutch cable you would experience difficulty engaging any gear, not just second. They then said "oh well a used transmission is $300 from he junkyard, we'll just take that off the price." Johns Auto Sales is trying to sell this car for excellent retail market value with a damaged transmission, and many many problems. I understand that all used cars need little things but a transmission is not only a major safety issue, it is also covered under the Massachusetts Lemon Law. While talking to the mechanics, who called ME unprofessional while chain smoking through our conversation I was told that one of them drove the car for several weeks in this condition, while installing a new exhaust and Hurst shifter. A Hurst shifter on a car with a destroyed synchro? After wasting an hour at Johns Auto Sales I left dissatisfied with the customer service, smelling of cigarettes, in my own car. Stay away from this place, it is sad that people like this give honest car salesmen a bad reputation. If you are stepping into this place alone and don't know very much about what a good car is... Don't go here. I went alone, and I must be really stupid b/c I walked in asking for a small used car that was good on gas... and they sold me the largest car on the lot (a tank that costs 80 bucks to fill), with 100K miles on it. After the interest this truck would have ended up costing 14K. I thought about it before I drove off the lot and they insisted that since I signed papers "technically I bought the car". The bank called the following week to ask me about the loan I applied for. I told them I was very uncomfortable with the vehicle and the payments were too high... They didn't grant me the loan (which was a relief), and I took the truck back. They were very unhappy at John's Auto Sales... and kept trying sell me another car to replace the one I didn't like. They kept me there for two hours. I finally went out to the vehicle and took off the plates and left... But this was after they insisted I owed them $300.00 because "they paid my registration". Meanwhile I gave them $1000.00 of a down payment for this car. (which I had returned in excellent condition). I should get $600+back from the canceled insurance... and the $300, for the registration I consider paid for out of my own down payment (and I won't get back).... I turned in the plates, and canceled the car which was insured for about 4 days. To make a long story short. These used car salesman are slimy. and it was a horrible experience that made me very sick for days. They can pretend they are trying to do you favors, but they are not to be trusted. I told them I was unhappy with this vehicle before I left the lot. They pretended they were going to help me out with this, and they ended up giving me a giant migraine. read more

so. i saw that this place had a bad rating, but i was desperate to get rid of my car. i called them. next day i went over and said goodbye to my lovely little 2007 toyota corolla. i knew the condition it was in, and what it was worth at an auto place vs selling to an individual online. i brought my kelly blue book value, and he asked me honestly what i thought it was worth and we negotiated to a price we were both okay with. johns son was in the office with us, working at another desk. and his wife's artwork is up on the walls. the amount of people and noise was a little overwhelming for me, but john himself was very nice. they dropped me at the train after we signed all the paperwork, and that gentleman and i had a very nice conversation for the short drive. i would recommend. sometimes people are bitter. sometimes they didn't have a good experience, and that's fair. but i think sometimes you have to go into it thinking its going to be okay despite the sh!t you read on the net. read more
