Plenty of parking in the lot and conveniently located on Route 7 in New Milford. The owner is always there and ensures you are fully satisfied. They recently accommodated me for a 10 year old's birthday party on a Saturday night. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Plenty of delicious menu options including vegetarian meals. My sister is visiting from Florida and it happened to be her birthday on Monday. My father suggested this restaurant because he had dined in for lunch a couple of months ago. I've passed this place hundreds of times and never looked twice so I was skeptical. From outside it doesn't say much to capture your attention. We were a party of 8 and the place was empty which again made me skeptical. But to our surprise, the waitress was polite and patient as well as Accommodating. We ordered several appetizers: bruschetta on garlic bread with mozzarella, calamari with marinara sauce, garlic knots and clams casino that were the best we ever tasted. All the appetizers were delicious! We ordered drinks from their pretty full bar they have and were generous about topping drinks off ! I ordered the rigatoni chicken a la vodka which I make at home from scratch and tend to be picky. Loved it!! The rest of the family ordered chicken cutlet parmigiana, fried shrimps , shrimp scallops and mussels in garlic sauce, sausages and peppers dinner and chicken piccata. There was no complaints about any of the dishes served. All were cooked to perfection and had great flavor! Even the dinner bread served at the table was delicious! We felt satisfied all around with the food and service! It's a quaint place but you feel very welcome. A must go for a great Italian meal! Loved everything about this place. So we go here a lot and used too as far back as when it was next to the Brookfield cinema where BJs is. I order food at 4:55pm last night. They told me 30 minutes. I show up 40 minutes later to find out it wasn't even started. I tell the chef, who I like a lot, I will be back in 20 minutes, he said give him 10 but I said I was stopping at a store and will be back in 20. I go there 20 minutes later, still just getting order in!!! So yes I ranted a bit, never swore but was aggravated. I said he up front of busy and tell me longer. So I went outside now that is over an hour and still not ready and I call my wife. I am walking in finishing my conversation with her saying it was ridiculous and this loser says "stop". I said excuse me and he proceeded to call me every name in the book. I retaliated a bit telling him to shut up and I am sure he wouldn't be happy waiting 1.5 hours for pizza. I was more than patient but yes complained. He felt he had to stick up for them by calling me every @#$&% in the book. He was older, skinny and the old me would of handled it alot differently but I just repeated myself saying this was his lucky day. The staff did not intervene, he was 100% in the wrong for going off on me and they just lost good customers. If this guy simply said "hey man they are trying to do their job" without screaming obscenities it would of been fine. Again he is very lucky I was in a good mood and it was New Years. By the way two other people complained to me about the wait and one guy told the chef as well, he is a long time customer. Sorry John's Best you have great food but this was insane and it was also the third time I have been told 25-30 minutes and it is well over an hour, just be upfront. read more

I've loved Johns Best in Brookfield for 10 years; great pizza and good quality moderately priced italian food. Their family-owned New Milford location is just as good, perhaps even better. The ambience is very nice for a pizza/restaurant. The service is quick and pleasant, the pizza is above average, and the price is right. I recommend Johns Best for good family type Italian food and pizza. They make the crossover between pizzeria and italian restaurant just fine. read more

Started off waiting an extra 30 minutes on a 25 minute take out order.. which would be understandable if the place was busy... following I got a burger and a kids fettuccine Alfredo... the pasta was ok, absolutely no flavor... the burger was a complete fail... it was supposed to come with lettuce, tomato, onion, and Mayo and was supposed to be medium rare... what I got was a well done burger with no lettuce, no tomato... just Mayo and quite literally half of a red onion. This is my favorite pizza in CT for the past 20 years- high recommend the meatball pie!

The garlic bread was good, but the pizza was pretty flavorless. Good crunch on the crust, right sauce-to-cheese ratio, but we needed to add salt and garlic powder to enjoy it. We may go back to try the dinners, but I wouldn't get the pizza again. read more

Located in a former Boston Market building. John's Best has expanded to several locations over the years, including to this New Milford one, presumably because their pizza is well-liked. Maybe their style of pizza just isn't my thing, but I tend to find that their pizzas fall apart a bit more than with other pies I've had. The cheese and dough can get a bit floppy on me. Came in here cause we had a toddler with us who wanted pasta so we thought, why not? We have had their food in the past and it wasn't bad until now. Ordered a lunch special (Eggplant Parm). Soup, salad and entree for less than 10 bucks. It is a great deal (large portions) but unfortunately the food was horrible! The eggplant was tough in spots and had that bitter taste at times. They give you 3 rolled up lumps of eggplant (not to be mistaken with rollatini). We could only manage to eat one. Ll cause we were starving. Had to smother it in grated cheese just to hive the bland sauce some flavor. We gave the toddler all the pasta and he just played with it. The soup and salad was very good. No complaints with that. The server reported it to the manager even though we didn't ask her to. He was professional and removed one meal off the bill which was nice since we hardly ate it. Just picked up two pizzas from John's Best. Been going to them for a few years. Seems like they are getting cheaper and cheaper and now they have lost us as a customer. No sauce at all on the pizza. For New Milford this one of the best spots for pizza. They have a good carry out 2 cheese large cheese pizza for 21$ that's pretty good and we've had their specialty pizzas on occasion and the vegetable one is very very good. Highly recommend! read more

Went for lunch with a friend. Mine had hair in it - a hair that resembled the other waitress' hair. I told the waiter and he said it was my hair. My hair is brown and this hair was black and totally looked like it came out of the other waitress' bangs (straight with a curly end). I told him it wasn't mine so he said he'd remove it for me. My friend was disgusted and quickly said we wanted another meal. I told them to make it to go because at that point I had lost my appetite. I can assure you that when I got home I threw it out because I didn't trust what might have been done to that lunch since our waiter was so angry when he had to pack up another lunch. Tried this place for the first time with three friends. It will definitely be the last. Had a calamari appetizer that was sub par, obviously frozen. As a matter of fact all the proteins we ate were not fresh. All four entrées were completely tasteless, and my dinner companions are not picky eaters. You shouldn't have to SALT Italian food once it hits the table. Charging $17 for frozen lobster ravioli or any other frozen entrée is just ridiculous. Total waste of time and money. read more

My husband took me out tonight to Johns Best. When we walked in the place was empty. Not a good sign. We were thinking that they must close really early. Almost turned around and left. We had a second thought and decided we would give it a try anyway. Considering we were the only ones in the restaurant our service was not very good. When our food arrived it looked appetizing and it was tasty. However I don't like feeling like we are the only ones. It was like the staff went home and forgot us. I don't think I would go back again. I like friendly service and would like the waitress to check on us once in awhile. read more
