Catfish, stuffing & greens. Ribs, yams, mac n cheese greens and cornbread

My mom found this place which is close by her job. We dropped in on a Tues after work to grab dinner. Soon as we got out the car I could smell the bbq so i immediately was like hmmmmmmm. The line wasnt to bad & we placed out orders. She selected ribs, mac n cheese, collard greens & yams. I opted for the catfish since its been a while since i had some. I got catfish stuffing (mom wanted that not me) & greens. For dessert we got cake; forgot what she picked but she said it was good & I picked some nana pudding it was a hefty portion and it was good so they get bonus points for that. I hate those lil snack size portions especially when its good. Now Im used to mixed greens w smoked turkey in em so they wasnt what I was used to but still good. The yams I can agree w another yelper didnt give home made it was missing something yet they were edible and the catfish was good. I did sample some of moms food and them ribs slaaaaapppppp the mac n cheese was good too. I wish we had ordered the food to stay but i know next time we go. I would recommend getting a plate from Johns Fine Food

Service was great but the food was not good. It reminds me of hospital/ soup kitchen. Place was clean staff was great. If food was better would go back and dine in.

I came here on Thursday around 6pm. I ordered the fried chicken plate with Mac and cheese and cabbage, and the baked chicken plate with greens and dressing. Both chicken plates were good but it was the end of the day for them and you could tell the food had been sitting out. The Mac and cheese was just ok. It's definitely homemade the black people way just wasn't flavorful enough to me. The cabbage was cool the greens were more like mustard/turnip greens with the small potatoes. Not a traditional with smoked meat, which is a nice options for those looking for no meat greens. The dressing was pretty good too, and I also think was meatless. Everything was lightly seasoned, not over salted but still had some flavor. It is cafeteria style like most takeout soul food restaurants. The food is already prepared and you choose from what's available. They do have some made to order options like the fried fish. There are a few tables to sit down and eat at and there was a nice mix of people sitting and taking food to go. It's a solid option for soul food on the Southside if you don't feel like going to riverdale. I'd try them again a little earlier in the day when the food is fresh.

We were shopping at Scott's Antique Market and one of the venders was eating lunch. It looked awesome. We asked where he got, it thinking it was in the building. But, he said it was up the street so we decided to take a mile ride to go to John's Fine Food. I'm so glad we did. It was the highlight of our day. My friend got the fried chicken livers, stuffing & gravy & cabbage. I got the veggie plate (4); mac & cheese, navy beans, green beans and collards. Cornbread came with each of our lunch. I tasted my friends chicken livers and they were the best we had ever eaten. I'm always cautious of going to places like this. I am a southerner, but please don't add sugar to my food and don't over salt. They did not and I was over the moon. I hope to bring my Mom. She would love it. The staff was amazing and very attentive. The entire time we were there there was a line. I will definitely be going back.

In 2012 I had the pleasure of getting introduce to this beautiful business. I was over the moon about how amazing the food tasted. It was so good I went back the very next day and purchased another plate. Since then I've been wanting to try them again however the business caught on fire. Fast forward I tried the food & it's disgusting! I am highly disappointed. No fresh vegetables just canned

You get a lot of food for the money, we tried the fried catfish plates, for sides we had candied yams, macaroni, collard greens, fried cabbage, and potato salad. We tried hush puppies and cornbread, and banana pudding for dessert. The fried catfish portion is generous and seasoned well, we had ours with tartar sauce and hot sauce. It was extremely fresh and piping hot. The sides were all great and I look forward to trying more, the collards and potato salad were our favorites! The banana pudding is sweet and they use some sort of cake type dessert instead of vanilla wafers, it's very good! Service is great, it was our first time and we were a little lost. They have a cashier and an ordering kiosk, plenty of room and nice tables to dine in which I appreciate. Staff was friendly! Can't wait to try more of their meals!

The portions are more than fair, believe me you will probably end up taking stuff to-go unless you have an army of hungry folks with you. Thank you so much for the amazing Customer Service to the Ray's Southern Foods team. You absolutely delivered on all aspects and you earned my five star rating.

For the most part, people seemed to enjoy it so I was convinced I should check it out. The restaurant is located inside of the Hilton airport Hotel. There is a secure parking lot that requires you to pull a ticket when you enter. The restaurant will validate the parking ticket for you ! When I walked in I was greeted by a staff member and seated immediately. Shortly after I was seated my wait staff came over and introduced herself. She took my drink order and said she would allow me time to look over the menu. I asked my wait staff her thoughts on the Mac and cheese. I am picky about eating Mac and cheese from places. Most don't know how to make real Mac & cheese ( if you know what I mean)! She told me it was pretty solid. - As such I ordered the following: Crab bisque Smoked chicken wing plate served with two sides: Mac & cheeses and asparagus were my picks! The crab bisque did take a long time to come out. It was so delayed that my main course came out shortly after the soup. It was not ideal, but I made it work! The crab bisque was solid. I would order it again. The wing plate also exceeded my expectations! I was impressed with the mac and cheese. The asparagus were large, which was concerning to me! Like how did they get so big? Steroids? Nonetheless, they were cooked to perfection! I did get the banana pudding to go- this was the only item I would not order again! It was basic and I only took a few bites and ended up trashing it . Overall I would reconned this spot! Service was spot on- and for a hotel restaurant the food is pretty good!

I hadn't been in a couple of years but decided to go back because of the amazing food that I had previously experienced as a consistent customer over the years. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed when I ordered my usual and the food tastes nothing like the delicious food that I was used to experiencing at this location. The lack of flavor and quality that I had been used to experiencing was completely gone. The food tastes like it comes right out of the can onto the to-go containers. The turkey wings taste like they had no seasoning or flavor but as if they emptied out a can of cream of mushroom on top of the turkey wings. I could not finish the meal because it was nothing like remembered. Alongside the wasting of money and time that was taken to drive to this location, it was an overall disappointment. I used to recommend this location to friends who would come in town for some of the best soul food in Atlanta, but I honestly wouldn't be able to do that now because of the lack thereof. I'm not sure if they change cooks or what, but I'm highly disappointed. Pretty much they have a table blocking the door and a couple of chairs sitting outside of the establishment , or you have to wait in your car for your food. Unfortunately, Annie Laura's kitchen has gone down horribly. As a customer from the beginning before they moved to the second location.. I wouldn't recommend them anymore to anyone.

We parked behind the building and a woman who worked there had the door open. She had on a shirt that read Legalize being Black. My husband had on a Black Lives Matter shirt, & I had on a Juneteenth shirt. She smiled and raised her fist at us as we asked to enter through the door and we responded in kind. I love us! She toke U.S. to grab a menu as we walked in to the right of the bar. We found a high top and found what we wanted and went to the counter to order. The prices are reasonable until you get to adding the sides. I overheard another worker tell a couple who ordered after us to order the veggie plate if they were getting 4 sides as it was cheaper. I wish the person who took our order had told use that. The entrees are à la carte and priced reasonably. The sides are $5 each with a few exceptions, a hoecake is $2 and mac & cheese and a couple other sides are $6. Keep that in mind when you come. Our total for our inside dining with a can of ginger ale, fountain Diet Coke, & tip was like $70+ & the to go order for our son's meal w/o a drink was ~$30. It's definitely a good value if you only need an entree and have sides already. The food is good and has large pieces of meat & decent portions so there you go... I ordered the fried green tomatoes as a starter, smoked beef brisket with the barbecue sauce on the side, smoked turkey cabbage, dressing, & the lemon pound cake. Ironically, the fried green tomatoes came out last. They were piping hot though. They could've used a dash of salt but that cornmeal batter was perfection on the tomatoes. You get 3 and 1 was cut a little too thick and it was slightly mushy maybe cause it had to cook longer? But it was still good. The beef brisket was good. It's sliced thin and had that good smoke flavor and was seasoned well. The thicker slices could've been a bit more tender but overall it could rival some barbecue joints. The dressing was good and so was the cabbage, though it was almost tad bit saltier than I'd like. I'd order everything I had again. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed my food. You know not everyone who claims to cook southern food can do so. Oh the pound cake was good and moist. It reminds me of Sammy Chhesecake pound cake. My husband ordered the 3 pieces of fried chicken, collard greens & they do have a lil kick as the menu suggests, green beans, & yellow rice. He was pleasantly surprised with how big the pieces of chicken were. Nowadays people give you what looks like pigeon parts ‍. He said it was a tad salty. He said he also enjoyed his meal otherwise. I forgot to get pictures of the food for our son's takeout order of fried pork chops, collard greens, mac & cheese, & a hoecake. He liked his food as well but also said his pork chops, which were nice size center cut, were well seasoned, but a little too much. He enjoyed the meal and his 1st hoecake. They also do catering and seemed to have a large catering order being prepared to go out. The restaurant & woman's restroom was clean. The staff were friendly and quickly acknowledged us. The music was good but it would've been good to hear a mix of old school with the hip hop since it was Juneteenth. They have a full bar. The only thing I didn't like was Fox News & another conservative news channel on; at least not on JuneteenthZ a generic movie or TV show would've been better for me anyway. They had a steady stream of to go orders and in person dining. I guess we're just late to know about
