Food was perfect! Served fast, hot, and it was all delicious. Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food.

I'd give them 4.5 if I could but since they were pretty good I'll go ahead and give them a 5. Being intentional on Juneteenth to patronize Black owned businesses (except our stop for a quick drink at Paper Planes) we chose to eat here than at the food trucks at the Hapeville Juneteenth celebration, which was really good. We parked behind the building and a woman who worked there had the door open. She had on a shirt that read Legalize being Black. My husband had on a Black Lives Matter shirt, & I had on a Juneteenth shirt. She smiled and raised her fist at us as we asked to enter through the door and we responded in kind. I love us! She toke U.S. to grab a menu as we walked in to the right of the bar. We found a high top and found what we wanted and went to the counter to order. The prices are reasonable until you get to adding the sides. I overheard another worker tell a couple who ordered after us to order the veggie plate if they were getting 4 sides as it was cheaper. I wish the person who took our order had told use that. The entrees are à la carte and priced reasonably. The sides are $5 each with a few exceptions, a hoecake is $2 and mac & cheese and a couple other sides are $6. Keep that in mind when you come. Our total for our inside dining with a can of ginger ale, fountain Diet Coke, & tip was like $70+ & the to go order for our son's meal w/o a drink was ~$30. It's definitely a good value if you only need an entree and have sides already. The food is good and has large pieces of meat & decent portions so there you go... I ordered the fried green tomatoes as a starter, smoked beef brisket with the barbecue sauce on the side, smoked turkey cabbage, dressing, & the lemon pound cake. Ironically, the fried green tomatoes came out last. They were piping hot though. They could've used a dash of salt but that cornmeal batter was perfection on the tomatoes. You get 3 and 1 was cut a little too thick and it was slightly mushy maybe cause it had to cook longer? But it was still good. The beef brisket was good. It's sliced thin and had that good smoke flavor and was seasoned well. The thicker slices could've been a bit more tender but overall it could rival some barbecue joints. The dressing was good and so was the cabbage, though it was almost tad bit saltier than I'd like. I'd order everything I had again. I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed my food. You know not everyone who claims to cook southern food can do so. Oh the pound cake was good and moist. It reminds me of Sammy Chhesecake pound cake. My husband ordered the 3 pieces of fried chicken, collard greens & they do have a lil kick as the menu suggests, green beans, & yellow rice. He was pleasantly surprised with how big the pieces of chicken were. Nowadays people give you what looks like pigeon parts ‍. He said it was a tad salty. He said he also enjoyed his meal otherwise. I forgot to get pictures of the food for our son's takeout order of fried pork chops, collard greens, mac & cheese, & a hoecake. He liked his food as well but also said his pork chops, which were nice size center cut, were well seasoned, but a little too much. He enjoyed the meal and his 1st hoecake. They also do catering and seemed to have a large catering order being prepared to go out. The restaurant & woman's restroom was clean. The staff were friendly and quickly acknowledged us. The music was good but it would've been good to hear a mix of old school with the hip hop since it was Juneteenth. They have a full bar. The only thing I didn't like was Fox News & another conservative news channel on; at least not on JuneteenthZ a generic movie or TV show would've been better for me anyway. This place was such a great find! There's free parking behind the building, which made things super convenient. The staff was genuinely some of the friendliest we've experienced anywhere. Very welcoming and attentive from the moment we walked in. The soul food was absolutely delicious. We ordered the fried okra, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, sweet potatoes, and greens, and every single thing was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. I do wish that they had smoked turkey in them, but it's a nice option if you don't eat meat. Mac and cheese: it was pretty good, and complimented a lot of the dishes. Yams: not a fan. They weren't sweet at all. Dressing: the dressing was so good, but it was a little too moist for me. The shrimp was ok, but it could've had more flavor. First off the food is delicious! Parking in the back is super convenient. However, as a first timer, it was a bit confusing. I couldn't tell what the system of service was. Was it a sit down? Do I order and wait for my name or number to be called? People were kind but when I asked if I could sit anywhere, I was told yes and handed a menu. After sitting for a good five minutes with no one coming over to me, I got up and asked the bartender how to order. She took my order and told me she'd bring it to me. While I waited I observed an actual system which would have been nice for someone to explain it to me or have signs with directions. I also didn't appreciate the packaging charge added to my bill. There are no signs informing customers of this. When I questioned it, I was told that since Covid they only use disposable plates and utensils. Covid has been over for years now. Was sent on a fish sandwich mission and was about to give up and settle for McDonald's. While waiting in the drive thru, I spotted lickety split across the street and look them up. I am so glad I did! Service was prompt, the menu is straight forward, and the restaurant decor is homey and cute! I even got to meet the owners! They have a full bar as well as desserts . Note meals are built meaning they have the main proteins and sides a la carte. I got the 2pc catfish entree to meet the fish sandwich need and the beef brisket for myself, with a side of greens. Just tried Lickety Split in Hapeville and overall it was a really good experience. We started with the chicken wings as an appetizer -- they were okay, nothing spectacular, but a solid start. For the main course, my girlfriend had the turkey wing with rice, and she really enjoyed it. She said the seasoning was on point and full of flavor. I ordered the fried shrimp with collard greens and candied yams. The candied yams were definitely a highlight -- sweet, flavorful, and cooked just right. The collard greens, though, didn't taste as fresh as I would've liked -- almost like they may have been canned. The iced tea was really good, and my friend enjoyed her glass of wine. One thing to note: everything is served in styrofoam containers with plastic flatware instead of traditional plates and silverware. Not a dealbreaker, just something to be aware of. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. They do offer a military discount, but it only applies to the individual with the military ID -- not the entire table if you're dining with family or on a date. I appreciate that they acknowledge service members, but it would be nice if the discount extended to the whole party. Overall, it was a great experience with very good service, and I'd probably go back again. If you're in the Hapeville area and craving some soul food, it's worth checking out. read more

Visited town and decided to give this place a try and very glad we did. Cute but smaller spot with a few tables on one side for regular dining and a full bar and high top tables on the other side. We came in on a Friday evening around 6 and it was busy. You order at the counter and then they call you for your food. Food was delicious. My husband and I tried the fried, smothered pork chops which were super tender and flavorful. Honey lemon pepper wings which were the best wings I've had in a long time. The candied yams and potato salad were also delicious. The bread basket of hoe cakes were yummy and unique. To top it all off, the red velvet cake was out of this world. We ordered a little bit of everything. For starters, we had the deviled eggs and the lemon pepper honey wings--my goodness, they were incredible. For our entrées, we enjoyed the smothered turkey wing with dressing and the ribs. We were already full, but we just had to try dessert. The strawberry banana pudding was bursting with flavor, and the sweet potato pie was hands down the best I've ever had--so delicious, light, fluffy, and with the perfect crust. I had so much expectation for this place. It was just okay to me. I got there maybe 30 mins after they were open during the week. I ended up stopping here because it's not that far from the airport. Plenty of parking on the side of the building. I wanted to try the turkey but that was not ready. I ended up trying the smoked salmon and the beef brisket. The smoked salmon was tasty. The beef brisket was tough! The Mac and cheese and dressing were tasty. I waited about 30 mins for my food. That's a long time to me. It was only about 5 other customers there and 4 of them already were eating. So the wait time to get your food is not great especially when your not busy. They also add additional fees to your receipt when you order it to go. The prices are high. I don't mind spending money on good food but I want to at least satisfied after I eat. This was not the case here. I shared it with my husband he did not care for it either. I won't return. read more

My first visit was very average, at best. However I'll put a disclaimer that my review is biased because I had no proteins at all during this visit due to oral surgery. I came in with a friend around 7:30 PM on a Friday night. It was pretty empty. The set up in this place is weird as far as ordering. It's self seating and then you go to the counter to order, but there is zero signage indicating this. So we kinda stood around until someone finally acknowledged us and said something. We ended up ordering Mac and cheese, yams, lemon pepper wings, ribs, and hoecakes. We both got Arnold Palmers as our drink. Let's start with the good: the Mac was really good. Cheesy and seasoned well. My friend loved his lemon pepper wings and said he'd come back just for that. The hoecakes were also tasty and the butter served with them was good, although one was slightly burnt. Now on to everything else: yams are a solid 0/10. Not cooked all the way through, not enough cinnamon, and veryyyy watery. I'd steer clear. I actually threw the rest away which is very unlike me. My friend said his ribs were average. He expected better. And those Arnold palmers? Yeahhh, it definitely was not giving Georgia sweet tea at all. They weren't good in my opinion. Also, the first one they brought my friend had a black speck floating in it. Concerning cause it's likely mold in the ice maker. All in all, I MIGHT give them a second try to test out the wings since my friend raved about them. And maybe also try a drink from the bar. If you're close by I'd say give it a try. In total I think we spent about $55. I forgot to take pics before eating so excuse the photo. The deviled eggs were sweet, the tomatoes were gross. I was thoroughly disappointed. Why is everything full of sugar? And when the appetizers came we were given no plates, there was 4 of us at the table. I ate of my napkin. I had some peach cocktail and it was absolutely watered down. Some of the best food I have ever had! Starting with the deviled eggs! Party of 4, we only ordered the serving of 3!!! Ended up fighting over them because they are so good! Upon entering I didn't see a posted menu so went to the counter and was directed to get a menu from the wall and then to return to the counter to place my order. I ordered wings, a side of macaroni and cheese and catfish bites. You can dine in or get your food to go. I got mine to go but if you choose to dine in there is ample seating and a bar.
