John was great! We had an "issue" with our garage door where we suspected someone may have been able to get in. While we weren't sure if that is what happened, we called John to find out if it was possible. He took the time to explain that while it was technically possible, it wasn't likely. He went on to explain why, and told us about how the new garage door openers work, making it virtually impossible for anyone to access them with any kind of 'universal' remote. He also explained how the new models have the ability to be hooked up to your phone so you can monitor your door to see if it's open or closed and for how long and also set a timer for it to automatically close after a certain amount of time, so that you don't have to worry about accidentally leaving the door open all night or once you've left the house. All in all, John spent a lot of time just informing us of our options, without ever trying to 'sell' us anything. Because of our concerns and the fact that our garage door opener was probably about 20 years old, we decided to go ahead and get a new one. John came out the same day to install it and we're very happy with it. It is SO much quieter than our old one! And just like he was over the phone, John was very friendly and helpful in person. He got the job done quickly, hauled off the old opener, left our garage clean and free of old parts didn't charge us a dollar more than what he quoted over the phone. Today I had the pleasure to meet John and his nephew from John's Garage Doors. I woke up this morning dreading to call a garage door company because I needed two remote garage door openers and one of my garage doors repaired. I found John's name on Yelp, and after reading the reviews, decided to give them a call. I called around 9 am, and much to delight, John said he would be out sometime today. It was about 10:45 am when John pulled up in his truck. He was as nice, pleasant and professional in person as he was on the phone. I highly recommend John's Garage Doors!!! Our garage door would not open. It stopped at about 1 foot above the ground when opening. Pressing the button again shut it. Pressing multiple times again did the same thing over and over. I called Johns Garage Doors and described the problem. Daniel came out and inspected the problem and explained to me that the existing garage door spring assembly had one of the 2 springs in the assembly broken which made the door too heavy for the motor to pull up. He did a really great job uninstalling the old and installing a new full spring assembly. He also fully lubricated all the hinges and bearings on the door. He explained what he was doing very clearly and asked multiple times if I had any more questions. The quality of his work was excellent and he was a great communicator! I was able to get through to John himself on my first call. He was very courteous and comforting with his assessment and was at my house the next day. I am a retired Electrical Contractor from the Chicago area, and due to much experience with the various trades I knew after speaking with John for 3 minutes that he was well skilled and experienced in garage doors. He quoted the cost to replace the spring for the door, came out quickly, had all parts on his truck and got it done- for the quoted price. The price was very fair. This guy is a NO BS skilled tradesman, his business practices and service will sustain his company as long as he intends on working.
