I've been a patron of John's Grecian Delight since October 1981, when John, Demetra, and their kids first opened their doors and there was a full-fledged mall. Even after serving in the military and eventually settling in Colorado, one thing hasn't changed--every time I visit family in Nebraska (usually every 4-6 months), I make it a point to stop at John's. The food has been consistently outstanding for over four decades. In fact, when family comes to visit me in Colorado, they know to bring me food from John's because I miss it that much. The quality, flavor, and friendly service have never disappointed. John's has the best Gyro sandwiches around this area and they are always very kind and accommodating. I love when I remember this place because I often forget it even exists down there and it's a little dungeon. That's the only thing I would recommend is that they move their Brick + Mortar to a more accessible location with a better atmosphere for eating. After surviving Mother Nature's March meltdown, we decided to warm up with some delicious Greek food at John's Grecian. John himself had posted that he couldn't sit still and was opening up shop, so of course, we had to show our support--because supporting local is what we do! Rolling in close to closing time, we somehow managed to bring a whole entourage of six people behind us (sorry, John!). Despite winding down for the night, he didn't hesitate to fire up the grill and serve us up some amazing gyros. Wednesday's deal--buy one, get one for $6--was too good to pass up, so we went for the combo meat with grilled onions, tomatoes, and sauce. I usually add cucumbers, but I forgot... totally my fault. Now, the real highlight? John's is officially a COKE ZERO establishment!! As a longtime Pepsi place, this was a game-changer for me. Seeing that glorious Coke Zero on the fountain made my night. John's Grecian is an experience all in itself. Imagine walking into a deserted old mall, where John's is the lone food establishment standing tall. But when you step into the mall and begin walking, you can start to smell the delicious Greek aromas wafting through the air--follow your nose, and you'll be led straight to John's. It's a bit of a hidden gem in a forgotten spot, and honestly, it adds to the charm. My husband treated me, so I have no idea what the final bill was, but for the quality and quantity, it's always worth it. We like coming to John's. The food is always good, and John is really nice and is so loved by the Bellevue community and by the people at the Air Force base as well. So wholesome. There are 2 additional things that really make John's special, in my opinion. One is the vinaigrette salad dressing; maybe that seems like an odd thing to be excited about but I tell you I am tempted to drink it from the bowl after I finish my salad. And I admit I do give in to this temptation because really, why not? The other is that John's chicken gyro is way better than other chicken gyros in town because he has a big - umm, cone, I guess - of chicken gyro meat so it's just like a regular gyro. But chicken. This restaurant is in the once-busy Southroads mall. There is not much there and there's kind of a weird feel about the place. Also, cell service is not great there so be prepared to have a phone-free meal. There is a record store, 402 Vinyl, that opened up not too long ago in the next bay! Unfortunately they keep very limited hours there so it is not usually open when I come eat. But it's a nice treat when it is. A lot of times we eat at John's before or after we go hiking at Fontenelle Forest. Very conveniently located for that; a perfect outing! read more

Today, I fulfilled my desire for a gyro at John's Grecian Delight. I'm so happy John is well again, and has reopened. I got there today (4/20/26) at opening and ordered for takeout 2 gyros (custom made to perfection, as always), an order of excellent fries and 4 baklava. This place is so nice and homey! It took us a while to find it in the half abandoned mall but now I know how to find them. I just had a gyro, which was pretty darn good. PACKED with meat, I could barely get my mouth around it. I think this and a drink was around $7.50 which is such a bargain for how much you get. I'm visiting from Toledo and I was highly recommended John's by my friends and I can say I'm leaving full to the seams. It's located kinda off the beaten path but worth the trek to it. I was served by John who was extremely friendly and excited about his food he even said he gets some of his ingredients from Toledo how cool is that! The gyro was phenomenal the tzatziki sauce specially was out of this world packed with great flavors that complimented the fantastic gyro meat. Great gyros. Best I have had since coming to Nebraska. They are very reasonably priced and so delicious. The owner and his wife run the restaurant and our lovely people. As nice as they can be. It's not to far but I wish they would move to a bigger place with a drive up window. The restaurant is in an empty mall and not the easiest to get to easpecially if you are disabled. But definitely worth the trip. I would go for the Baklava alone!! read more

Oh man was this place hard to find. Enter in on the side with the gym then keep waking until you hit a T- intersection. Turn right and you'll find John's on your left. We met John while ordering a souvlaki and gyro. He told us stories about his days working as a cop in Heraklion on the island of Crete. Man, it makes me want to go back and visit Crete and the northern Greece again. Food was reasonably priced and okay. I would say that the food here is better than the average Greek or Gyro joint in the States but much saltier than I remember anything I had in Greece, especially the souvlaki meat and tzatziki. Otherwise, the pita bread was nice and fluffy and the gyro was stuffed with meat and very tasty. Both souvlaki and gyro were very filing, great for a quick bite. read more

Okay - so this place is not easy to find - no signs - inside of the old Southroads Mall - you'd never know it was there. This is a hidden gem. Go find it. Great Greek food. Regular Gyro and Chicken Gyro were what was eaten for lunch and they were outstanding. The menu is not large, but it more than covers the bases when you have a hankering for Greek. Owner said he had been in business for 31 years. Hope that he will stay in business for many more. If you have never been, give it a try. read more

Had a Greek salad, not great (iceberg lettuce, three tomatoes and a few red onions with a red wine vinegar dressing). I would pass on the salad. Wife and I had gyros and Greek fries. Gyros were ok, gyro meat was dry/over cooked and accompanied with lettuce, tomato and tzatziki sauce. We would have expected, olives, feta, maybe hummus and other seasonings to the gyros and fries. We like strong flavors, so this place kind of missed the mark with us. We might give it another try but not likely as the location is not convenient for us. read more

The food is definitely worth finding this place's tricky location. Maybe the location is what makes it even better though, it's not ridiculously busy and the owner serves everyone. Gyros are great but I think the true 'hidden' greatness are the potatoes. [He only cooks a certain amount a day too so I thought twice about sharing this...don't eat them all, save us some!] These are not the fries but cooked potatoes on the steam table. They are cooked to the right tenderness with oil and Greek seasoning. Yum! Best Greek in town, John is a delight to see when you stop in and if you take the minute to chat with him you'll find he and his help are really interesting and friendly. I hesitatingly call John a friend of sorts after being a patron of his place for as many years as I have. He always knows exactly what I want when I walk in and is quick to ask how life is going and how my family is and chatting with him is always pleasant. The food is some high quality Grade S quality and is hands down the only place I will go in town when I am in the mood for Greek.
