We happened upon Waggs on random Wednesday night, after just arriving to town with no reservations. I had checked reviews, and they were all great, so we stopped in to see if they were able to accommodate us. They happily seated us! The place looked super sketchy on the outside, since it is in the Super 8 building, but their food was absolutely wonderful! The steaks were cooked to perfection, and very flavorful. Each of the four us took cakes and cheesecakes to go. I wish that we would have bought more! The service was wonderful as well! If we ever find ourselves back in Sarnia, we will definitely stop in at Waggs. read more

Have a reservation for a better table. We found the food tastey and plentiful for the price. The walleye and salmon was perfect and the salads and potato added to their small but perfect dining setting. This was our second time at Waggs and we will return. read more

The food is good but beware of misleading luncheon menu. The "Luncheon Menu" has a description on the front that salad, etc. is included but it's only included for items on the BACK side of the menu. Very misleading and I only ordered the salad because I thought it was included ($6.50 for a VERY small salad is ridiculous). When I questioned it later, I was told "I'm sorry you couldn't read the menu properly." Excuse me? Rather rude.....but maybe if the menu wasn't so misleading. I know this sounds picky but when a luncheon description is at the top of the page but doesn't apply to ALL the selections, if should be made clear so you don't get surprised when the bill arrives. The cost of my lunch ended up being $30 when the main item I ordered was only $17.95. Lesson learned and I'll find somewhere else where I guess I can "read the menu correctly." Very nice interior and great staff. Food was good, I had prime rib and while it was fattyier than I like, it was good. We had 5 dinners and everyone liked their meals. read more

A 5 steakhouse connected to a dirty motel.... The food was fabulous as was the service (Ashley). A must try!!

Absolutely horrible service, I called ahead to inquire on wait times, and was told if I arrived in twenty minutes or so which was my projected guess there would be no wait and if there was it would be five minutes max. We show up and told "oh sorry, we're full" and I explained I called ahead, and the waitress I spoke to came and spoke with me and said "well yeah we had a bunch of walk ins so we're full." I can understand and appreciate an influx of customers but it's pretty funny how a five minute wait at full became sorry we're full. read more

Would give it a 5 if they updated their decor to look more trendy, or even something redecorated in the last 20 years. All that being said, did you see the 4 stars. Yeah, their food is good. And at the end of the day I'm not eating at a restaurant to stare at walls. I'm there for the food. I will return. read more

You wouldn't think a place attached to a Super 8 would be fancy, right? Wrong. This is a locals place, pretty smart and very busy. We went on a Thursday and it was hopping. service was very good and fast. We had lobster and seafood linguini. Both were excellent. Definitely give if a try. yum. read more

Oh Sarnia ! Yes this restaurant is located within motel 8 and the food reflected. Upon entering the restaurant, was very confused to the front entrance and found it very unwelcoming. As we were waiting to be seated a young girl who seem to be very flustered sat us or should I say showed us to our table. The decor within the restaurant is very confusing and I thought I was eating at a vegan restaurant due to the pictures of the leaves and the lime green accents that were decorated on the walls. I was shockingly surprised to see that the restaurant was fairly full and was hoping that my first impressions would make me bite my tongue and the food would make up for the shortcomings. I was wrong, what a very disappointing meal. We ordered a bottle of wine for the table and as it came it was screwtop. If I was marketing my restaurant as a Premier steakhouse and seafood restaurant within Sarnia I would make an effort not to have any bottles of wine that were screwtop it cheapens the experience. To start at the table we decided to have the crab mushroom tops. Ugh, what a gross and utter disaster it was. The crab was artificial and cold and was topped by Black & Decker marble cheese (fail)- please remove from your menu. Since I am not a big steak eater I inquired about their Atlantic salmon and asked if it was fresh or frozen. I was told by our waiter that it was frozen, and for that price point it should be fresh and never put on ice. So since it was frozen I asked if our waiter-if she could recommend something else and she said The ribeye was her favourite so I would take her advice and I ordered that, as my partner ordered the New York strip. Once our mains arrived at our table the first impression of the appearance of the plating was very sad. Too fussy, simplicity is best. My steak was surprisingly OK well my partners New York strip was awful. For some reason the broccoli on both plates tasted like curry. For the price point at which we paid for the meal I will say I will not return and it is very sad that Sarnia has such low standards towards customer service and food quality, you guys need to step up your game. For the price I paid I could have cross the border, Paid bridge fees, and had a lovely meal in the states and got myself a little something from the mall. Next time I will do myself a favour and cross the road and supersize my meal. read more

Although the food is good consistently they have really cut back on the portion sizes and the last two times we have been there I have left hungry and I'm not a big eater so in my opinion this speaks volumes read more

Waggs is an enormous find for those looking for an A+++ steak restaurant. It is next to the Super 8. The decor is excellent. I had a taste for steak while in Sarnia on business, and Waggs came up as a great place to try. The 12-oz ribeye was tender, juicy, and made to my liking. Their seasoning was perfect (most places over-salt the steak). The salad was fresh and crisp with house-made dressing. The rolls were fresh and tasty. What really sealed the rating was the fact that they offered a twice-baked potato, something that I haven't found in menus in the Chicago area. The potato was fabulous. I can only rave about one other steak restaurant and that was located in Ames, IA. I am planning to return later in this visit, and with my frequent trips to this town, I will certainly return for dinner. read more

Accessibility is a problem. There is no ramp or blended sidewalk for the step up from the drive to the sidewalk and from the sidewalk to the inside. The doors do not have buttons to press to open. Otherwise we would be there all the time. The food is great and the service is great. I love the smooth jazz music too. read more

Spent the night at the Super 8 in Sarnia and were surprised to see a steak and seafood restaurant attached to the hotel. The desk clerk at the hotel, informed us of the 10% discount for hotel guests. We were surprised to see the parking lot filling up for the restaurant, and decided we better get there quick or we wouldn't get a table. We were greeted by a nice young lady, and seated in the bar area, which we requested. The restaurant was quite busy and the server in the bar, for 3 tables, was also the bartender. She did a great job, considering she was very busy making drinks for the rest of the servers. Our drinks (martinis) were excellent, and my prime rib and my husband's rib eye were delicious. Neither of us wanted a potato so the server gave us extra veggies. Everything was quite tasty and we would definitely go back. Our server, Caroline was quite friendly and even though very busy, took the time to chat with us. Overall a very good place! read more
